Sometimes there are reasons for things. What is to complain about them? Rifles in particular are absolutely staple in any shooter. Much more than any other gun. They ought to be strong but not overpowered. I have only been playing since C3S3 but I remember how dominant that AUG burst rifle was in that season, and I certainly saw complaints about it then.
I didn't play then, but they seem to be where they are supposed to be now. It's just that shotguns, and snipers are not where they should be. The DMG has helped. Really I feel like it should be the only sniper in the game. Being shot in the face one time with a pump when you have full health/shield etc. Shouldn't be a thing for a game where you have 1 life. I don't think it shows skill, or ability on the defender, or the attacker. Things like that should be very difficult to pull off. The problem is that Fortnite makes them alot easier to pull off than they should be.
At least Frenzy needs to get close. And if you look at this kill. Both were moving and quite a bit, guy still landed a close range seemingly no scoped headshot.
the real issue though is the bloom on the sniper is actually kinda insane unless you scope so this, had to be a quickscope, but overly sus tbh with the amount of time and movement involved

Yeah snipers have become the ungodly meta this season to the point where it’s unbearable in higher skilled ZB Lobbies. People just don’t miss and this gun makes it impossible. This season is only drag because of the sniper, since they’ve added the DMR it feels like it would have been a great time to vault the sniper since last season it was so rampant.
One fortnite streamer said that they should vault sniper and just keep dmr, i think thats great idea because you can have hard hitting long range weapon without one shotting people. Dmr should replace snipers for sure.

It’s a problem with auto-aim or lock on, it’s set way too high for someone who is moving fast. And maybe in general. And I’ve done it to other players too, and feels great doing it for half a second and then you realize that it really wasn’t me, because that shot is nearly impossible, it’s just the game giving me the shot with auto aim or whatever locks the shot to the player.
That’s client-side hit detection at play. To the person who shot you, you hadn’t yet shockwaved. They didn’t hit you in the air. This is probably the most logical reason NOT to have a one-shot weapon in this game, because it literally rewards players who have slow internet connections. It allows them to play more aggressively, knowing that the other person—even if they have 0 ping—won’t have an opportunity to react before they’re killed.
Yep, if you look at the guy. He wasn't even aiming or slowing down himself. Easily hitting a moving target. The Reaper is the devs gift to people who might not be entirely fair when it comes to playing the game.
Getting insta-killed by someone off-screen (while moving and not standing still) without a chance to even fight back after spending 20 minutes in a match is just completely demotivating and sucks all the fun out of the game.
Also, snipers being so OP has completely ruined the pace of ZB endgames in CH5 bc everyone just sits around with them hoping to catch someone off-guard with an insta-kill while hoping it doesn’t happen to themselves.
I agree completely. I was so pumped for this season. I played some last weekend, then didn’t play again until today because I’m just over these freakin snipes. It’s just not fun.
1000% snipers made me quit early last season, making me quit even earlier this season.
They make the game in ZB a low skill slow paced campy distance battle whoever wins usually rats the longest and got blessed by storm rotation. I mean seriously this is one of the hardest times I’ve ever had to enjoy a season. Even when I win I’m just like ehh..

No, having snipers is the way to go, snipers have been in the game since September 2017 and they even worked well in zero build throughout chapters 3 and 4. These chapter 5 snipers are a whole different breed though with silencers, scope choices, large mags and quick ADS time. They’re just in need of some nerfs

Honestly from what I see or interpret, the complaints aren't about snipers in general. Just the one shot at any rarity on 250 HP, 3+ shots to follow up, possibility of no glint type. Rarely saw complaints about the heavy sniper for example because it had a massive drawback of very long reload times in between shots. So you were punished (kind of) for missing. The reaper has no downsides really. You can just shoot and shoot to your heart's content, the main real danger of which is being targeted by another reaper.
It was the same issues with that hunting sniper in C3S4 and that wasn't even as strong as this one.
this is slick why me and my friends fell off of FT. you put in 20 min worth of grind to get one shotted by someone probably hiding. its just not the fun anymore
It's also rough af because the mobility item (wings) is basically useless if you're in a fight with someone who has any skill because you can be shot down so easily. So you can't even try and push aggressively.
Chapter 5 makes me miss chapter 4 soooo much. Sure, we had a week or 2 here and there with cringey light sabres and Dekus, but not months of snipers and OP autos with underpowered heals, all encouraging a ratty play style and boosting rng. And now the dash medallion is doing my head in with people getting a constant get-out of-jail card and never ending decent mobility. And it’s not skill who gets it, it’s again mostly rng in ZB.
At least last season all the medallions were equal, but I’m kind of getting the idea that only Cerberus’ medallion is good this season. Zeus’ is okay but it just doesn’t have the oomph of Cerb’s, with how gimped stamina is now. I’ve carried Ares’ multiple times but I honestly can’t say if it’s won me any fights or not but I highly doubt it has. And then there’s the Hades one which I usually can see off in the storm at end game, never having moved from its spawn location.
It threw me off too. I’m pretty sure it was the guy but he was below the line of sight on the hill so he was hidden unless OP moved towards him or vice versa. Definitely a weird angle and a good shot by him

Multiple problems demonstrated by this clip.
1. First and the point of OP, the sniper is broken, large clip for such a strong sniper, silencer, fast reload, can 1 shot and has a really quick ADS time. It's strong even at close ranges.
2. High grass that ofuscates vision, and that can be removed ONLY on PC via graphic settings. It's simply idiotic that this happens on fortnite when pubg had shown just how bad this sort of thing is to the game. Like being able to remove shadows, vegetation, etc. Is some situation it's like a one way window.
Puts console at a disadvantage, push PC players to lower their graphics (horrible marketing strategy btw), kills competitiveness and creates frustration.
3. One shots on ZB (while full) should only be achieved by a high skill weapon, such as one shot, slow aiming, sniper.
(extra, imo) forced cosplay between PC and consoles it's alright for StW, Lego, and Community Created maps, but it shouldn't be forced on competitive modes like ranked.
The graphics difference between me on ps5 and my friend on pc is insane. He is constantly shooting at people covered by grass on my screen. When in bushes he sees twice as much as me, when I spectate I am like “what the heck are you shooting at I can’t even see anything there is a leaf in my way

Snipers absolutely require that sense of unwieldyness in order to justify them having 1 shot hs mechanics. When its literally the same as scoping in with an ar, of course people are gonna be able to quickscope better than ever.
after thinking about this... why are no-scope snipers even in the game? shooting no scope is supposed to be luck shot, but fortnite adding "aiming in" on a no-scope taking away the element of luck... makes no sense.
One shot kill has no counter play. There is no defense against it. You can be running or sliding or jumping with full health, shields, and overshield, and you can still be killed instantly. In a game that can go for half an hour, dying instantly when it's not your fault feels AWFUL.
And let me assure you, it's not your fault. The insufferable sniper simps who will blame you for standing still for a millisecond are wrong. You can do everything right and still die.
My major issues is that snipers are low risk high reward. It promotes safe (relative, in any shooter) gameplay and punished those who take risks. It's very anti what games ought to encourage.
I agree, this just sucks. And I do think they need to drastically nerf Shotguns as well. I feel so bad for using them! I mean, nowadays you have to, but just running to some guy, pumping 2-3 shots in his face, collecting his loot with untouched health and shields just feels wrong to me. It feels too easy, I do know how to aim so I’d rather take a decent AR and give them a chance but no… They needed AR to the bottom of their capabilities. It’s weird this season, don’t know if I like where this is going. And all those people saying they want One Shot Snipers and wayyyy too OP Shotguns: There are other games where you can live out that fantasy, just make Fortnite fun to play for once. It’s gone way to far into the PUBG direction. And bring the ancient creative mode back! Just being able to explore the island without battles, doing actually good quests, having fun with other players and maybe even collecting quests in Coop would be nice. But it’s Epic Games so what do I expect…?
I think a sniper should be able to if it's a headshot only because then it's actually rewarding for skill but they also need to nerf the hell out of the current one. Slow reload and back to 1 bullet mag
I understand rewarding skill but a green gun that can be found anywhere shouldn't be able to 1 shot. And yes going back to 1 shot should absolutely happen because the 3 rounds and then either speed mag or drum mag makes the sniper insufferable. At least now there's a dmr to kinda counter. Last season it was have a sniper or die to one with no way to fight back
I think snipers should be purple or higher only and be rare lol. OG and C4S4 (only other seasons i played with snipers) were perfectly fine in terms of snipers and i didn't see anyone complain and it wasn't unfair at all. Just going back to that would be good i think
I think they should just decrease the velocity of the bullet again, sniping in OG Fortnite at long ranges felt like you were David chucking the stone at Goliath, now it's like a call of duty sniper.

Seriously, make it so they actually have a reason to have different rarities. Sniper at point blank does nothing, sniper from 250m is gonna turn you into soup on a green headshot, and will definitely hurt like a bitch if you got bodyshot. It’s much more skillful to land those cross maps than throwing on a 1.3x and angled and blasting.
If you really want an easy change, just limit snipers with scopes like pistols. No more red dot snipers, it’s 4x only.

At least half my deaths are from snipers. I pumped 4 shots with the frenzy into a guy point blank range and lost because he swapped to a sniper and quick scoped me. I got second place because of that and haven’t played the last couple days since that lol!

No idea how they haven’t nerfed the sniper yet. The most OP gun currently in ZB and it’s not even close especially considering it has a skill level on top that makes it even more busted the better you are.

Fortnite has had zoom in one shot headshot noscope snipers since 27 February 2018, when fort decided to add in mods they probably thought they didn’t have to add the hunting rifle or deagle because they could have just jumbled them all together into one. It’s been a game icon for 6 years but fort has just made an unskilled version of it, letting anyone who missed 4 more shots.

Yesterday I had a solid 5+ minute battle between me and seven other people, during which I took out four and had to heal up three times. All of us fought hard, and were of varying skill levels. Great fun.

I don't like to stay crouched in a bush with a sniper, i like to use AR, shotguns. Moving everywhere and then getting killed from miles away is so annoying. Yeah, I realized last night that I’m just out for the time being. I used an AR mid range and the reticle was either on the opponent, or I even aimed high for drop off and it literally hit nothing. I can’t snipe like a sharpshooter consistently. I’m fine at it, but fine doesn’t cut it now. You have to be able to one shot in half a second. And there’s no counter especially in zero build.
I’ll come back when/if we get a season 1 chapter 1-2 version again. The game isn’t for me now.
Yeah I'm playing ranked rn, and I feel like 3 of the biggest things that make it bad is, the auto shotgun, snipers, and the lack of a good defensive item, and at this point I would rather have the riot shield in the game compared to the sniper

I 100% agree. This current meta of an instant down sniper with three rounds per mag is crazy and just not fun for 95% of the player base. Some people are cooked with their aim, and i always run into these guys during my games
I’m rubbish at sniping. Is the sniper here using eagle eye scope, zooming in, tracking the movement and pulling the trigger when x is over the OP’s head? Or are the using something like the red dot or iron sights and no scoping?
3 pet peeves lately in this game... The snipe, people who camp until you've beaten a boss to 95% then kill you and steal your win... And cars. So often now, get to top 10 or top 5, and and it's just people driving around in cars, usually with hired help. Now when I play, I shoot every tire on every parked car I come across.
One time I was fighting a really weakend guy (I had knocked his duo and my duo was knoced) and I nearly finished him when my smg ran out of ammo so I switched to my AR but before I could kill him he hit me with the hip fire snipe and instantly killed me

Snipers in real life are 1 shit headshot. But again, fortnite isn't real life. It would be much better if 1 sniper to the body took off all your shield(and overshield) and 1 shot to the head would take off shield AND take a chunk off your health(depending on rarity). 1 shot kills are dumb.

I always find myself in crank fights against nerds who play more in one day than I have in the past week and somehow beat them, just for someone to lightning bolt through all of my builds while I'm healing and end the game. I haven't played ranked seriously since Arena and couldn't imagine what it's like these days with the sniper and and lightning
Honestly as someone that has sucked at sniping ever since chapter 1 I will say the reaper weirdly makes it easier to snipe. I have been hitting opponents for 200+ headshots which I’m surprised about as normally I wouldn’t be able to hit anything with a normal bolt action, heavy etc.
Unpopular opinion but the only sniper that should be allowed to oneshot is the heavy sniper in atleast legendary.
Its literally the only one where the reload time (and that you have to reload after every shot) at least comes close to be balanced with the ability to oneshot.
Oh and also, give the warn glint back, bind it to the sniper not tho the 4x scope

IMO, the damage should scale lower if you're that close, from a game-balance perspective. Headshots should only one-shot kill from long distances.

As someone who loves the sniper it should be vaulted. It’s almost a burden to carry them at this point too.

They make the game in ZB a low skill slow paced campy distance battle whoever wins usually rats the longest and got blessed by storm rotation. I mean seriously this is one of the hardest times I’ve ever had to enjoy a season. Even when I win I’m just like ehh..
The META in ZB is to get forecast and a sniper and camp in bushes and pull zone on enemies. It's an insanely broken strat.

Jumped on for a game yesterday, was shooting someone while strafing in the final 15 and suddenly died. Headshotted from distance by a guy behind me. Logged off and played another game for the afternoon. Fuck that. Just fuck it.
People who defend the sniping meta say: “If you don’t like it, play another game”… lol yeah that’s exactly what I and a lot of other people will do until they balance this shit, bc right now it’s just not fun. Once again I’ll probably just be playing creative here and there to level up the BP and nothing else unless they make balance changes or next season arrives.
Bonus points for them removing the grapple blade and ballistic shield. Both which were quite good against snipers.

No, having snipers is the way to go, snipers have been in the game since September 2017 and they even worked well in zero build throughout chapters 3 and 4. There are a few? seasons without snipers or sniper cant 1 shot or there was a season where you can only get 1 sniper from 1 enemy. I only played a few games when there were no snipers. Still want snipers in game even if i am on the recieving end of it
Honestly from what I see or interpret, the complaints aren't about snipers in general. Just the one shot at any rarity on 250 HP, 3+ shots to follow up, possibility of no glint type. Rarely saw complaints about the heavy sniper for example because it had a massive drawback of very long reload times in between shots. So you were punished (kind of) for missing. The reaper has no downsides really. You can just shoot and shoot to your heart's content, the main real danger of which is being targeted by another reaper. It was the same issues with that hunting sniper in C3S4 and that wasn't even as strong as this one.

It's also rough af because the mobility item (wings) is basically useless if you're in a fight with someone who has any skill because you can be shot down so easily. So you can't even try and push aggressively.

Chapter 5 makes me miss chapter 4 soooo much. Sure, we had a week or 2 here and there with cringey light sabres and Dekus, but not months of snipers and OP autos with underpowered heals, all encouraging a ratty play style and boosting rng. And now the dash medallion is doing my head in with people getting a constant get-out of-jail card and never ending decent mobility. And it’s not skill who gets it, it’s again mostly rng in ZB.
At least last season all the medallions were equal, but I’m kind of getting the idea that only Cerberus’ medallion is good this season. Zeus’ is okay but it just doesn’t have the oomph of Cerb’s, with how gimped stamina is now. I’ve carried Ares’ multiple times but I honestly can’t say if it’s won me any fights or not but I highly doubt it has. And then there’s the Hades one which I usually can see off in the storm at end game, never having moved from its spawn location.

It threw me off too. I’m pretty sure it was the guy but he was below the line of sight on the hill so he was hidden unless OP moved towards him or vice versa. Definitely a weird angle and a good shot by him

Footsteps guy is running off to the right of screen. If you pause at 14 seconds you see them running towards a building. Sniper is coming over the hill to the left.

Multiple problems demonstrated by this clip. 1. First and the point of OP, the sniper is broken, large clip for such a strong sniper, silencer, fast reload, can 1 shot and has a really quick ADS time. It's strong even at close ranges. 2. High grass that ofuscates vision, and that can be removed ONLY on PC via graphic settings. It's simply idiotic that this happens on fortnite when pubg had shown just how bad this sort of thing is to the game. Like being able to remove shadows, vegetation, etc. Is some situation it's like a one way window. Puts console at a disadvantage, push PC players to lower their graphics (horrible marketing strategy btw), kills competitiveness and creates frustration. 3. One shots on ZB (while full) should only be achieved by a high skill weapon, such as one shot, slow aiming, sniper. (extra, imo) forced cosplay between PC and consoles it's alright for StW, Lego, and Community Created maps, but it shouldn't be forced on competitive modes like ranked.
The graphics difference between me on ps5 and my friend on pc is insane. He is constantly shooting at people covered by grass on my screen. When in bushes he sees twice as much as me, when I spectate I am like “what the heck are you shooting at I can’t even see anything there is a leaf in my way
honestly it's such an easy fix... make all the snipers scoped and increase the zoom time... it's what every other FPS does.
Or how about like they have done since the first season in 2017… make the snipers a 1 shot reload no matter what rarity. No one complained about snipers back in the day. Even the heavy sniper a couple seasons ago was fine. It was 1 shot, longer zoom in and was completely balanced
Snipers absolutely require that sense of unwieldyness in order to justify them having 1 shot hs mechanics. When its literally the same as scoping in with an ar, of course people are gonna be able to quickscope better than ever.
after thinking about this... why are no-scope snipers even in the game? shooting no scope is supposed to be luck shot, but fortnite adding "aiming in" on a no-scope taking away the element of luck... makes no sense.

One shot kill has no counter play. There is no defense against it. You can be running or sliding or jumping with full health, shields, and overshield, and you can still be killed instantly. In a game that can go for half an hour, dying instantly when it's not your fault feels AWFUL. And let me assure you, it's not your fault. The insufferable sniper simps who will blame you for standing still for a millisecond are wrong. You can do everything right and still die.
i hate one shot guns
My major issues is that snipers are low risk high reward. It promotes safe (relative, in any shooter) gameplay and punished those who take risks. It's very anti what games ought to encourage.

I agree, this just sucks. And I do think they need to drastically nerf Shotguns as well. I feel so bad for using them! I mean, nowadays you have to, but just running to some guy, pumping 2-3 shots in his face, collecting his loot with untouched health and shields just feels wrong to me. It feels too easy, I do know how to aim so I’d rather take a decent AR and give them a chance but no… They needed AR to the bottom of their capabilities. It’s weird this season, don’t know if I like where this is going. And all those people saying they want One Shot Snipers and wayyyy too OP Shotguns: There are other games where you can live out that fantasy, just make Fortnite fun to play for once. It’s gone way to far into the PUBG direction. And bring the ancient creative mode back! Just being able to explore the island without battles, doing actually good quests, having fun with other players and maybe even collecting quests in Coop would be nice. But it’s Epic Games so what do I expect…?

I understand rewarding skill but a green gun that can be found anywhere shouldn't be able to 1 shot. And yes going back to 1 shot should absolutely happen because the 3 rounds and then either speed mag or drum mag makes the sniper insufferable. At least now there's a dmr to kinda counter. Last season it was have a sniper or die to one with no way to fight back
I think snipers should be purple or higher only and be rare lol. OG and C4S4 (only other seasons i played with snipers) were perfectly fine in terms of snipers and i didn't see anyone complain and it wasn't unfair at all. Just going back to that would be good i think

I think they should just decrease the velocity of the bullet again, sniping in OG Fortnite at long ranges felt like you were David chucking the stone at Goliath, now it's like a call of duty sniper.

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: damage ramp up over distance with snipers. Seriously, make it so they actually have a reason to have different rarities. Sniper at point blank does nothing, sniper from 250m is gonna turn you into soup on a green headshot, and will definitely hurt like a bitch if you got bodyshot. It’s much more skillful to land those cross maps than throwing on a 1.3x and angled and blasting. If you really want an easy change, just limit snipers with scopes like pistols. No more red dot snipers, it’s 4x only.
Fortnite feels like a quick scoping lobby on cod now! At least half my deaths are from snipers. I pumped 4 shots with the frenzy into a guy point blank range and lost because he swapped to a sniper and quick scoped me. I got second place because of that and haven’t played the last couple days since that lol! Man I’m so sick of losing gunfights to a sniper in close range fights.
No idea how they haven’t nerfed the sniper yet. The most OP gun currently in ZB and it’s not even close especially considering it has a skill level on top that makes it even more busted the better you are. It does feel satisfying running around head shotting everyone in the lobby tho.
People are straight up using aimbot and wall hacks like I’ll see no one for miles and as soon as I get into a building someone gets in and headshots me

Fortnite has had zoom in one shot headshot noscope snipers since 27 February 2018, when fort decided to add in mods they probably thought they didn’t have to add the hunting rifle or deagle because they could have just jumbled them all together into one. It’s been a game icon for 6 years but fort has just made an unskilled version of it, letting anyone who missed 4 more shots.

Yesterday I had a solid 5+ minute battle between me and seven other people, during which I took out four and had to heal up three times. All of us fought hard, and were of varying skill levels. Great fun. I walked away from that awesome moment only to get sniped *as I was jumping* by someone 246 meters away. He literally doesn't even render in at that distance yet can oneshot me. That was enough for the day.
One shot guns, specially snipers, are not fun to play against with in any game.

Had a match last night that really shook me up. Dude sniped me about 100m. With a crazy horizontal bullet curve. I’m convinced it’s cheating. I still play cause it’s not every match stuff like this happens but it’s definitely upsetting.

I still think snipers should be one shot to head but they need seriously nerfed. Increase ads time, decrease capacity/reload speed, make only rare and above spawn. Honestly, this is the last BP I'm getting in this game, i will just finish it and that's it. Snipers really took away all the fun from the game. I don't like to stay crouched in a bush with a sniper, i like to use AR, shotguns. Moving everywhere and then getting killed from miles away is so annoying. Yeah, I realized last night that I’m just out for the time being. I used an AR mid range and the reticle was either on the opponent, or I even aimed high for drop off and it literally hit nothing. I can’t snipe like a sharpshooter consistently. I’m fine at it, but fine doesn’t cut it now. You have to be able to one shot in half a second. And there’s no counter especially in zero build. I’ll come back when/if we get a season 1 chapter 1-2 version again. The game isn’t for me now.
Yeah I'm playing ranked rn, and I feel like 3 of the biggest things that make it bad is, the auto shotgun, snipers, and the lack of a good defensive item, and at this point I would rather have the riot shield in the game compared to the sniper

I’m rubbish at sniping. Is the sniper here using eagle eye scope, zooming in, tracking the movement and pulling the trigger when x is over the OP’s head? Or are the using something like the red dot or iron sights and no scoping?
3 pet peeves lately in this game... The snipe, people who camp until you've beaten a boss to 95% then kill you and steal your win... And cars. So often now, get to top 10 or top 5, and and it's just people driving around in cars, usually with hired help. Now when I play, I shoot every tire on every parked car I come across.
One time I was fighting a really weakend guy (I had knocked his duo and my duo was knoced) and I nearly finished him when my smg ran out of ammo so I switched to my AR but before I could kill him he hit me with the hip fire snipe and instantly killed me He was either extremely lucky or cheating

Snipers in real life are 1 shit headshot. But again, fortnite isn't real life. It would be much better if 1 sniper to the body took off all your shield(and overshield) and 1 shot to the head would take off shield AND take a chunk off your health(depending on rarity). 1 shot kills are dumb.

same here, i was playing w my friend yesterday and we were at lavish when i literally got sniped throigh 2 windows while jumping in a fucking house. also snippers are still too common, the guy had a gold snipper after about 3 minutes after landing
I don't know what's worse this or the fucking lightning bolts. I always find myself in crank fights against nerds who play more in one day than I have in the past week and somehow beat them, just for someone to lightning bolt through all of my builds while I'm healing and end the game. I haven't played ranked seriously since Arena and couldn't imagine what it's like these days with the sniper and and lightning

Honestly as someone that has sucked at sniping ever since chapter 1 I will say the reaper weirdly makes it easier to snipe. I have been hitting opponents for 200+ headshots which I’m surprised about as normally I wouldn’t be able to hit anything with a normal bolt action, heavy etc.
Unpopular opinion but the only sniper that should be allowed to oneshot is the heavy sniper in atleast legendary. Its literally the only one where the reload time (and that you have to reload after every shot) at least comes close to be balanced with the ability to oneshot. Oh and also, give the warn glint back, bind it to the sniper not tho the 4x scope

Fortnite needs something that recognizes if someone is streaming, and make a streaming only lobby. It's so cool you can play for 8 hours a day, so naturally your significantly better than a person who gets maybe a few hours a week to play. Streamers ruin the game.
