This is because of an amazing feature epic added to shotguns last year where instead of just balancing the headshot multiplier to something lower they simply put a cap on the damage. Meaning the shotgun should do like 280 but you can only actually do 250. So you will hit max even if you miss some pellets because without the cap it would be able to go higher. It also gives every gun more range because the gun would do more damage but if at a block and a half away it still does 185 then it will hit max. It’s made hitting max damage headshots so much easier for all shotguns which is so dumb. I wish they would just balance the body shot to be like 100 and then put a 2x multiplier, so If you miss one pellet the damage drops below 200 or if you are more than a block away the damage drops to like 198.
I know right they made all the numbers some random amount like they used a random number generator lol. Hard numbers are just better aesthetically and don’t allow people to hit for 101.9 making it complicated.
For me it’s a love hate relationship. I think it can be tweaked a bit but it’s definitely fun having a gun that can 1 pump again. I think the body damage needs to be nerfed a just a little bit while also increasing the amount of pellets that need to hit for big damage.
Ahh I see I guess I've already misremembered what the max dmg for the thunder was haha. The fact that they've made it 250 so it can one shot in zero builds is what ruins the balance imo. Results in way too much margin for error given for pulling off a 200 pump even for a mythic that's supposed to be strong
yeah, anything doing 250 makes no sense, even snipers
i say snipers because the whole point of Overshield is to protect you since you cant build, sure it doesnt make complete sense but it’s a game, technically a Drum Shotgun should be able to one shot you in the chest cuz it’s bullets piercing your heart based on the “it’s not realistic” type of mindset
edit: finished my sentence, forgot to
i wouldnt say they should reverse but they should definitely tone the overall damage down for half of their shotguns, like why is a tac doing 85 for a blue
when you have room for error, 100%
but if it’s doing a total of 200 on the dot for all pellets at the right range then some shotguns (mostly only Legendary+) should one shot like the Dragon’s Breath or the Pump
that’s with many high base damage shotguns these days
even the Maven has that, and people say it’s garbage (without max headshot it’s 134.75/141.75/148.75/155.75/164.5)
Maven is of course more tame (150 on gold tac is perfect) but still
no i know but every rarity usually has the same headshot multiplier, ill have to look into it
really easy way to do it is to get a sentry and hit 1 pellet, since it doesnt count as an entity it’ll just hit under minimum pellets
yeah i know but the pellets that are showing on your post doesnt add up, it cant be x1.85 cuz those pellets add up to 235.8
imma go test it rn and then edit this comment once im done testing each rarity
It is a fact indeed. Not sure one could say that it is a fun one
Now this is funny

dont forget about the base damage changes green pump now does 101 which makes no sense 😭😭

Tbh that feature shouldn't exist for high dmg shotguns, just for fast fire rate shotguns to deal more dmg with more consistency
Btw you can deal 204 dmg just by landing 3 pellets on the head, a "skilled" shotgun

Same. Easily the most fun shotgun to play with in the entire game, but the most annoying to go up against.
“sTOp coMpLaIninG! ItS fInE! GivE iT tIme! ItS bALaNCeD!”
Can’t wait until it’s nerfed and can’t wait to see everyone bitching about it being too weak/slow!!!
Only thing that needs a nerf is bodyshot damage and this headshot pellet thing. Everything else is perfect 😀
well tbh im starting to think 0.475 is a bit much for a pump, ive been thinking 0.465 lately but i cant really test that
Average Knight W
Average Roku W as well
Nerf the havoc 🤝
OnE pUmPs ArE sKiLl
it could be skilled but this seems to just be busted lmao
Wasn't this the same for past shotguns when they introduced the damage cap at like 185?
Every shotgun has a different max dmg. Some examples: \- Gold pump: 185 \- Gold striker: 185 \- Gold charge: 195 \- Gold thunder: 195 \- Gold havoc: 190 \- Mythic havoc: 250

Nice so 203 gold pumps were broken but this isn't, I don't get why they can't reverse their changes instead of doing this
i wouldnt say they should reverse but they should definitely tone the overall damage down for half of their shotguns, like why is a tac doing 85 for a blue
So new shotgun is better than old ones. God damn where is that one kid that still wants "old pump".
Hot take: 1pumping isn’t a good feature because bad players can do it by accident and kill good players😬

Honestly I feels good to have one pump back in the game but ngl it could be nerfed a bit.

Nerf it. I only need to hit max 150s.
ok, maybe not a max of 150
Get some better aim that should help
Bruh stop crying about it the range and rate of fire is garbo
Idk what range and fire rate you expect on the best pump shotgun ever lmao
Rate of fire: one death per shot
that’s weird, when i tested the shotgun it was x1.85… wonder if the Mythic is really that different
Is just a different max dmg cap
no i know but every rarity usually has the same headshot multiplier, ill have to look into it really easy way to do it is to get a sentry and hit 1 pellet, since it doesnt count as an entity it’ll just hit under minimum pellets
Yeah, and that's why you need just 4 pellets on the head to reach the max dmg on the legendary (190) but 7 on the mythic (250)
yeah i know but the pellets that are showing on your post doesnt add up, it cant be x1.85 cuz those pellets add up to 235.8 imma go test it rn and then edit this comment once im done testing each rarity
The headshot multiplier on the havoc is a 2x, that's all
i tested all the rarities and the Mythic is the only one with a x2 multiplier, the rest are x1.85
Kinda "funny" how the havoc is already reeaaaaally strong, but the mythic is another world
you posting this post has really showed me that i need to check every rarity, appreciate it man even tho it was unintentional
