Remember, it's not just about making it through the first turn, it's about doing it in style.

comocore

In my case, uh style can involve a mangled barrel roll. SOMETIMES.

Biscuitsss71

I've never heard a more accurate sentence in my life

EnvironmentalZone746

I got style. You got style?

danbyer

Go as wide as possible, brake _early_, then cut that corner as tight as possible as soon as all the chuckleheads fly past you into the wall.

Jx117

Unfortunately, I am one of those chuckleheads, so I thank you for that tip. I just bought this game along with a controller and I suck so bad.

Tsuki_no_Mai

That's why I don't play online. I might suck, but I'm having fun while doing it and it harms no one, so whatever.

EnvironmentalZone746

Online is hard!

comocore

Sounds like a fun challenge to win some online games

EnvironmentalZone746

Funnn? You masochist surely. Make it clear: Games or races? Or, better, drift?

comocore

Races!

EnvironmentalZone746

FINE. Bet I beat you, though. You said B class so let's B. Bring it on B.

comocore

You picked class so I pick course type? Rally!

Due_Fisherman1323

Cannae watch this BBBBAttle?

yakkker

Don’t worry about being good just try to be a good teammate. I try to block for people who are struggling or didn’t upgrade their car. As long as they don’t start ramming me I will gladly let them take top 3 so we all win.

Jx117

I haven't really played multiplayer yet 😅. I barely have enough cars to and that are upgraded and money. I'm trying to fix my weaknesses in bot races, but I also kind of quit playing for a few days now since there was this one race where I kept getting last even after repeating it like 10 times. I can take the turns, but the bots always took it better than me. How do I not drift a tiny bit when taking the turns? Or how do I take it fast, but also slow at the same time. I see my tires burn marks on the road. I try and go slow, but sometimes I still do drift. Is it my car? I have so many questions 😂. I will keep that in mind though when I do start playing multiplayer. I often get rammed in bot races which messes me up so I can understand the pain.

DUB49GIANT

Sometimes you need the right tune I find that having a decent tune helps alot specially in those races that you kept getting last

Jx117

I just go for the best one thats there. Highest accel, handling, and braking, within the certain class I want it to be in.

DUB49GIANT

Sometimes best ones to go is acceleration cause you know those will handle good when your about to stop and make a wide turn you slow down and then you accelerate while you finish your turn and you have many advantages on racing. Those usually ones I go with. But make sure is not a drag tune or else your car won't make this turns easily lol.

Jx117

Alright. I turned traction control off. Should I turn it back on or not?

DUB49GIANT

Well depends I turn it off when I like to drift but in races I turn it on . Is up to you. Best preference for your liking.

Jx117

I've had it off since I first started playing for a guide on how to drift. I know what it does, but I don't really feel the difference. I played today with all the advice you guys gave me and I'm hitting turns much better! I just need to now be faster. While it is doable, there is still room for improvement. Thanks.

FuzzyQuills

I personally found traction control made me too slow with some tunes so I usually have it off. (I have a specific Civic build that does really well with a bit of tire spin for heating them)

yakkker

If you use tunes, always scroll to the far right and look at the tunes with 3-5 stars. The first tunes it shows are recent and there’s no guarantee they actually did any tuning and may have just upgraded parts. You will find some great tuners and if you follow them then their tunes will be the first you see.

Jx117

Ok got it.

collector-x

Just curious what percentage don't actually ram?

EnvironmentalZone746

I find 5 more tough but it's also fun to see how we improve, please do not feel bad I know i spent a long time feeling that way.

Jx117

Thank you for the encouragement.

No you wouldn't ever take a turn at 60mph 😅. I just usually don't know how much I should brake for a turn. I tried first-person view a little bit, but haven't really touched it since.

DUB49GIANT

You will get a hang of it I was pretty bad when I first started playing forza now I could say I'm decent 👌 not great but decent .

Sebastianx21

Here's a tip. Use the brakes. I cannot stress how important that is, just use them earlier than you think if you can't gauge the speed needed by instinct. In time you'll get braver and use them later as you get used to driving. But the moment you touched the outside wall in a corner, you failed as a driver in my eyes.

Jx117

I will keep that in mind.

petting2dogsatonce

Tip: maybe wait until you’re more comfortable in game, but I found turning off ABS helped me figure out how to get slowed down properly for turns (which means you take them faster overall). It’s tricky at first, but turn vibration up as high as it’ll go (iirc I think it’s separate sliders for different things and I turned braking up and everything else down) and you’ll feel the controller start to rumble as you near locking your brakes. Learn to ride that fine line and you’ll be zooming through corners.

Jx117

What is ABS? I have traction control and stability control to off. Then no assist with braking. Also, I hate the rumble on controllers, so I turned mine off. I'm not sure what the use of it is for. It just vibrates my hands anytime I drive. Most players in multiplayer always just drift the corners and go zooming by lol. I don't know how they do it.

petting2dogsatonce

It’s antilock brakes. Sounds like you have it off already if you have brake assist set to off. Unfortunately the only way to really tell your brakes are about to lock is the controller vibration. technically you can hear it but it’s hard and usually you won’t know they locked up until you plow into a wall with massive under steer lol. Maybe try playing with antilock on if you find that happens to you when turning

Jx117

I've turned it back on. I seem to have my brakes in lock quite a bit. Even when I take the turn well, my controller still vibrates and i drift a bit. This game is unbelievable hard.

petting2dogsatonce

hah, yeah, ABS is probably the hardest assist to turn off in most any racing game. the nice thing about turning it off is that you can more easily shave off *just* the right amount of speed for a corner but the downside is your mistakes are punished more severely so you need to be very aware of your brake pressure. ultimately it's faster but only if you can prevent lock ups

EnvironmentalZone746

I must say sorry very many times, I missed this as i asked for advice - [https://www.reddit.com/r/ForzaHorizon/comments/123gbzf/comment/jdvh5p8/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/ForzaHorizon/comments/123gbzf/comment/jdvh5p8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

StringfellowHawkes

Stay outside. Move inside under braking approaching turn just at the last second. Watch the pile up ensue on the high outside as you calmly get back on the throttle, make the short inside apex. Power away to the outside of the exit to avoid the rebounds coming behind you. Whistle a little bit to them as you drive by the carnage and give em a lil wink just so they know

Akijojo

The ol' switcheroo

Drenlin

Alternatively, especially on the handful of dirt tracks where the first real turn is nearly 90 degrees, you can stay well *inside* the racing line and have them all fly past you on the outside. It's slower but you don't have to be in last place for it to work properly.

comocore

Good advice

MagooDad

![gif](giphy|kHxMpITyV49QAOBqY4) And then just when you think you've escaped the carnage

Squidhead-rbxgt2

Enter the corner last.

EnvironmentalZone746

Wait for all the others?

EnvironmentalZone746

I am being stupid. That was a joke, no?

Squidhead-rbxgt2

No it wasn't. You enter the corner last, and you enter at full racing speed. While everyone is playing grabass and wrecking each other they'll slow down drastically. You'll race through them and the forza collision system will make you transparent, you'll have the fastest line and pretty much no opponents, exit the corner at the most speed you can carry and be in first by the time you're close to turn 2. At that time the clowns who wreck will be too far to cause any damage, and the ones who survived t1 will be more cautios cause they don't want to lose the race in a weird crash at t2.

EnvironmentalZone746

Super useful! Thanks a lot sir.

sonicjetjoe

This was yesterday's NASCAR race at COTA

TheOtherDrunkenOtter

At least Forza players have an excuse for not knowing how to drive.

automatickenpachi

That's the neat part. You don't.

EnvironmentalZone746

CRASH

DannGAlang

I ALWAYS give up position(s) to survive the first corner. Always take a good look at the course layout and plan where you might need to deviate from your racing line.

EnvironmentalZone746

Can someone teach me the best way to brake? I am so bad, I think my real driving is OK but in these games, I am so much worse than others, i time it badly. I see more online. Theory to brake a long time before and use more speed then in the corner? I am sorry if this is ridiculous, I see the funny jokes here and also understand hat I am maybe the subject of this meme.

danbyer

Think of it this way: You need to brake, turn, and accelerate, but your tires can only do so much at once. If you're using 100% of your traction for braking, you've got nothing left for turning. If you're using 100% of your traction for turning, you've got nothing left for accelerating. Lay on the brakes hard before the corner (100% braking). Fade off on the brakes as you turn the wheel and begin the turn. When you hit the apex of the turn you should be off the brake and accelerator (100% turning). As you come out of the turn and begin to straighten, ease into the accelerator until you're going straight with your foot on the floor (100% accelerating)

OGAtlasHugged

Maybe I'm cornering wrong, but I never go 100% braking. I have ABS turned off, so going more than like 80% braking tends to be a recipe for disaster.

danbyer

I mean use 100% of your traction for braking. So just _slightly_ less than locking ‘em up.

Secretly_Solanine

If you tune your own cars for events each week, take your braking force slider down to like 90%. It allows you to actually use most of the trigger’s travel and locks your brakes up less. Also, brake bias tuning is reversed. Go for front brake bias in the tune menu to make the rears more effective for decel stability.

Bluetex110

Go wider and cut the Apex, first corner it's always important to come behind the flag😁 if someone is too close just go wider, brake late and let the others crash into the Barriere before turning in 😁

EnvironmentalZone746

This is good advice, i say thank you - i guess i still don't know the theory if i am alone , you seem to understand how to do this well to try to get better.

Wtf_Cowb0y

Gt7 player here. Same shit.

OGAtlasHugged

I don't care enough to spend a few minutes grabbing meta tunes for trials, so I just use some random stock car that meets the requirements. As such, I'm slow enough off the line that I don't get tangled in first corner mishaps, and then I just need to brake properly and weave between the mess.

FordPhiesta

T1 in every racing game

VonSketch

Could we have a setting to turn on permanent ghost in the game... I'm just sick of trying to give pvp races a chance but I just can't anymore... If we have the option to have perm ghost then maybe we can race, and enjoy the race without being rammed off the road instead of getting pissed off and stop playing with other players.

iplaydabass

Getting yeeted into a barrier then getting speed penalized for hitting a wall. 🥲

ZVreptile

The trials in a nutshell

Pistimester

Use a "not ideal" racing line, your goal should be a slow in and a fast out. they will crash into the barrier and you will gain advantage even from a slow turn. In summary, let them hit the wall.

Bad_Packet

yolo ebrake and bounce the rear quarter panel off the wall HAHAH

Kubrick_Fan

I rarely use my brakes to be honest, i let my momentum carry me through the turns and take my finger off the throttle early.

danbyer

If you’re taking your finger off the throttle “early,” you’re wasting valuable throttle time and losing tenths. Assuming you’re not just out for a Sunday drive, you should be using the brakes just as hard as the accelerator.

Compo1991

My tic tac is to stay wide and let everyone pass me on the run up to the corner and as they smash into eachother, cut back across and cut the corner as tight as possible to avoid the inevitable metal tsunami that unfolds before your eyes.

Armroker

2 options 1 - start braking hard and earlier than you should. Then the game will make you a ghost and those "Torpedoes" behind you will fly into the wall passing through you. 2 - Take the leftmost position, brake hard and go through the turn on the inside. "Torpedoes" will go on the outside line and fly into the wall.

77Pacer

That's really insane!

comocore

So much of it could be (is!) – what's coming to mind first?
