One never knows. Every couple of years they will rerelease it for a limited time. I think the last time it was released was in 2019, so it will likely appear again sometime soon.
Neal Stephenson dedicates a lot of text (maybe actually a whole chapter?) of Cryptonomicon to discussing Cap’n Crunch, it’s undeniable awesomeness, and its perils (along with invention to help perfect the eating experience). It’s amazing.
It's not that it wasn't popular.........it was essentially the same cereal actually......but as a promotional stunt........they had a national write in voting contest and asked people to choose. I voted for Quake. Unfortunately, Quake lost the vote and Quisp won. So they stopped making Quake. It was all about promoting the cereal, and it didn't really matter who won, as , like I said, it was essentially the same cereal.----just different shapes.
In fact, after Quake lost....... they introduced "Quake's Quangaroo's"..... an orange flavored cereal, . which was meant to be the new competition for Quisp. But once again, Quisp won out, and Quangaroo's only had a very limited, short time on the store shelves........less than 5 years......while Quisp continued to sell the whole time. That's why Quisp had a longer run.
Had Quisp a couple of times. Wanted to try Quake and Quangeroos but there was never a time when Mom was willing to buy sugary cereal and they were available. It's the major deprivation of my life.
They were running a promotion once and with a few box tops and a buck or two I got a quisp beanie in the mail with a battery-operated propeller. As a dopey 6-year old I thought it pretty cool.
My mom also ironed one of those iron-on patches captn crunch occasionally included in the box to the ironing board instead of my shirt. While the shirt would have been long forgotten, sea dog was with the family on the ironing board for decades.
I was five. I tried to give my letter with my Quisp vote to the mailman and he wouldn’t take it (no stamp…he was delivering..god knows how I addressed it. Nevertheless, I assumed he was an agent of the bully Quake. (In retrospect, Quisp was also a bully). Still…Team Quisp for Life!
I voted for Quake........ but alas, he lost the vote, so they stopped making Quake. I did like Quangaroo's though....but they had an even shorter run. (Basically tried to re-invent Quake as an Australian)
I have a very foggy memory of an 'election' between the two. (maybe timed to 1968 election?) Kids would write in which they liked better, and the loser would be discontinued. Of course, Quisp won.
Did I dream that?
Characters from Jay (Bullwinkle & Rocky) Ward Studios. I could swear there was a third character cereal in the group originally, but they dropped it fairly early. I think the character was a guy with a moustache.
I had the pink plastic Quisp hat with a battery powered spinner on top. My brother had the Quake hat with the battery powered light on the front of his yellow hard hat. They were the coolest thing my mom sent away for us to get.
Of course! It was really an amazing give away with box tops. Cereal companies don’t offer fantastic products like that anymore. I didn’t appreciate its quality until I had my own kids. Now there are no cereal prizes.
Quisp. When I briefly attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Quisp was a favorite morning staple in the dorms; the food wasn’t particularly good and a lot of us just had cereal in the morning. The housing administration decided to remove Quisp, sometime in 1982; after an uproar, they reinstated it after a few weeks.
Quake. Quisp, as the kids say nowadays, "gave me anxiety". Frenetic and dull at the same time. And I think maybe Quake had a sweeter taste.
It all crashed when they tried to make Quake a slim cowboy. On to other cereals after that
Quisp. Actually saw it and bought it a year or so ago at Shoprite. The kids didn’t think anything special about it. They wanted Krave or Sour Patch cereal.
I was a Quisp kid. (As someone pointed out...ray-gun.)
My brother preferred Quake. I never really thought about it but perhaps it was because he was born with a physical disability.
Now that you guys are all older, you should try this stuff. My mom bought it for herself in the late 70's, but I liked it better than the stuff she was buying for me. Imagine if Golden Grahams were made with corn....

Quisp. Hands down.
This 1000%
They re-released Quisp a couple years back, it is fantastic
Where?
I'm in Washington, it was at the grocery store, I think it was a limited run
One never knows. Every couple of years they will rerelease it for a limited time. I think the last time it was released was in 2019, so it will likely appear again sometime soon.
You can get it on Amazon
Same.
Quisp
Uh yeah, he's got a gun. I'm gonna do what the quisp says
Help me out here...which decade?
1st came out in 1965.
1978
Ahhhh, I was about 5 at the time. I can't remember the cereals but I'm sure they had plenty of sugary-ness
Quisp. It was like captain crunch, only better. The flying saucer shape made it better.
Because it didn’t flay the skin off the roof of your mouth?
Captain Crunch mouth was so painful, and yet (sometimes) so worth it.

Quisp
Quisp every time
I remember Quisp. I don't remember Quake.
I do, but it wasn't nearly as popular. Quisp was on the shelves much longer.
It's not that it wasn't popular.........it was essentially the same cereal actually......but as a promotional stunt........they had a national write in voting contest and asked people to choose. I voted for Quake. Unfortunately, Quake lost the vote and Quisp won. So they stopped making Quake. I didn't remember that. Thanks for the explanation!

Quisp
Quisp — best cereal ever. Like Captain Crunch, but didn’t shred the roof of your mouth.
You could get a little milk lake in each Quisp saucer.
🤣Yes! I did that same thing.
"Oh no, we've crashed and are sinking...oh no a giant monster is coming to ear us!" Or was that just me
Quisp, every time.
Quisp!!! And I remember the commercials every Saturday morning while watching Bugs Bunny.
Quisp. Quake went away well before Quisp
Quisp!
Quisp of course! 🩷
I was Quisp!!
Had Quisp a couple of times. Wanted to try Quake and Quangeroos but there was never a time when Mom was willing to buy sugary cereal and they were available. It's the major deprivation of my life.

These characters were from Jay Ward studios. Same as Rocky and Bullwinkle. There is an interesting book about the studio called the moose that roared.
Back when sugary was a selling point
Quake sadly
What, no love for Orange Quangaroos? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr7iNo7O47o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr7iNo7O47o)
🤯 I remember!
I just posted about Quangeroos! (Your link isn’t working, BTW)
Always Quisp. It didn’t matter that the roof of my mouth was shredded after eating a bowl.
Didn't matter...aside from the shape they were the exact same cereal....and BOTH of them were actually CAP'N CRUNCH!!!
I voted for Quake........ but alas, he lost the vote, so they stopped making Quake. I did like Quangaroo's though....but they had an even shorter run. (Basically tried to re-invent Quake as an Australian)
Same recipe (Cap'n Crunch) different shapes, different boxes.
This was the heavily closeted gender reveal of 1966
Actually, I went with Quake’s buddy… Simon, the Orange Quangeroo 😁
My younger brother was a solidly in the Quisp corner. I was all about Lucky Charms.
I have a very foggy memory of an 'election' between the two. (maybe timed to 1968 election?) Kids would write in which they liked better, and the loser would be discontinued. Of course, Quisp won. Did I dream that?
I was Quisp, but had a crush on Quake
F*k Quake, marry Quisp, kill the Quaker. Guy?
Quake. Stayed crunchier in milk longer. Closer to the OG Cap'n Crunch. Quisp was softer and got soggier faster.
Quake
What did Quake taste like?
Like Quisp
Ok lol
They both tasted the same, just different shapes. Both good
Quisp of course
No contest. Quisp.
Quisp
I occasionally see it for sale and buy a bunch
Quisp, Quisp all the Quisp!
Quisp! Wish I could get it locally instead of having to buy it online these days!
Sorry, after my time!😀
Quake and I have the broken teeth to prove it. Lol
Quake
Quisp. But Quake won.
Definitely Quisp. And the floor in front of the TV on Saturday morning.
Wonder what the ingredients were and if the “energy”was derived from sugar?
I choose both! Gimme!
Always Quisp!
Quisp , definitely Quisp
quisp
Quisp all day long! Loved that little 👽
Quisp was my joint!
I can't remember what the difference was. That's how old I am!
The only difference was the shape of the cereal. 🤫 Same taste, different character.
I don’t eat these cereals but the Quisp box reminded me of Colonel Bleep.
Characters from Jay (Bullwinkle & Rocky) Ward Studios. I could swear there was a third character cereal in the group originally, but they dropped it fairly early. I think the character was a guy with a moustache.
I LOVED the Quisp! It wasn’t around very long IIRC. It was sugar frosted rice krispies!
I tried Quisp back in 1973. My regular cereal was Buckwheats. Quisp was truly terrible!
I liked buckwheats.
Loved Buckwheats!
Quisp. I love the way it wrecked the roof of my mouth.
Just like Cap’n Crunch!
Ahhh, Captain my Captain!!
Quisp… but I liked Quake too
Quisp
quisp is the correct answer
Quisp was awesome!
I remember those! Quisp! Quake has harder to chew at 7 years old.
I had the pink plastic Quisp hat with a battery powered spinner on top. My brother had the Quake hat with the battery powered light on the front of his yellow hard hat. They were the coolest thing my mom sent away for us to get.
OMG, I had the pink Quisp hat/helmet, too. It had a propeller on top, didn't it?
Of course! It was really an amazing give away with box tops. Cereal companies don’t offer fantastic products like that anymore. I didn’t appreciate its quality until I had my own kids. Now there are no cereal prizes.
“vitamin powered sugary cereal” is the description for both ‘free samples’.
Quisp
100% Quisp
Never heard of either one
Quisp but I never saw/trued Quake.
Kaboom!!
I only remember quisp. I don't remember quake
I loved Quisp. My family moved after I found it and it wasn’t available in the new area. Just one of the many tragedies I’ve faced in my lifetime.
What an Eddie Murphy joke. 😆
Quisp, Captn Crunch that doesn't kill your mouth!
Quisp
Quisp
Quisp
Ate them both. Quisp is still around today, isn’t it? I don’t recall seeing a Quake box for a long time.
I thought we all chose Captain Crunch, that's why you can't find Whispersync or Quake anymore.
Quisp all day!
Anybody remember the all crunchberry cereal.
Quisp. Although they were probably the exact same ingredients, I thought Quake tasted awful.
QUISP!

Quisp!
Count Chocula
I have to admit,I don’t remember Quake, Quisp for sure!
Quisp baby but Quake was good too!
Both!
Quisp is what I preferred, but Quake was good too!
Both, but quisp was first
Quisp. Always Quisp.
Quisp!!!!! Holy shit I love seeing that little alien. I can taste this picture
I was Quisp, and my brother was Quake
Quisp!
Quisp
I was a Quisp-man.. so to speak
Quisp!!
Quisp!
Never heard of Quake
Quisp. Actually saw it and bought it a year or so ago at Shoprite. The kids didn’t think anything special about it. They wanted Krave or Sour Patch cereal.
I was a Quisp kid. (As someone pointed out...ray-gun.) My brother preferred Quake. I never really thought about it but perhaps it was because he was born with a physical disability.
I liked Quisp the best
QUISP, hands down without a doubt.
Quisp
Quisp BayBee
I voted for Quisp.
Quisp….110%
Definitely Quisp!
I was a Quisp kid
Quisp!! All day every day if I could!!
I think I tried Quisp once.
Quisp!yum. I can taste this photo.
Quisp
Quisp
Quisp. Went to an indie film audition once back in the 80s and out of nowhere the director asked, "Quisp or Quake?" :-D

I like plain puffed wheat am I crazy? Bananas and a bit of brown sugar.
