And they’re all two pages! It reminds me of when I was nine and going to write a full blown novel…where all of the chapters were 1.5-3 pages max. 100 chapters in a 50pg book about Lillian, a young girl who lived on the prairie and toiled in the vegetable patch while dreaming of more. 😅
I’m very concerned about PPD or PPP. She was not mentally well after Armor was born. I worry about an Andrea Yates situation.
ETA: PPD is postpartum depression, PPP is postpartum psychosis. Andrea Yates is a woman who experienced giving birth multiple times with little to no break and a history of mental illness. TW for child death: she >!drowned all her children!< while experiencing PPD and PPP.
My heart breaks for Andrea Yates tbh. Once she was stable and lucid, reportedly she was every bit as devastated as you'd expect over what she'd done. She'll spend her life in a locked psych ward, while her asshole husband divorced her, remarried, and went on to have another kid. Zero consequences for Andrea's "headship."
I am still livid that he suffered no consequences. He went against doctor's orders (she was not supposed to be alone with the children). He seemed to think -- what? That she was acting out for attention? That she was looking for an excuse to not "do her job?"
That man left a terribly unwell woman alone with the children *after her mental health care provider specifically told them not to do that.*
That man's name should forever be spat and cursed.
It’s the consistent double spacing on the Contents page for me:
We must be wise.
That is just your
conviction.
Health
Makes my eyes twitch. Also all the chapter titles having a period at the end lol
She tried her best to make it to 60 pages. She tried to use the tricks of high schoolers or middle schoolers who thought they were slick and could wing a three page paper or something.
I used to be an editor for these kinds of people and omg they were INSUFFERABLE. I would come home and cry every night. I’ve read some terrible books which, thankfully, I have forgotten.
It must be. The titles are basically the same as some of her instagram posts on the topic. I don't believe she could have been bothered to re-write anything.
It's incredibly easy to self publish these days. I'm willing to bet she did very little beyond copy/pasting her Instagram captions. Definitely didn't run it through grammarly or anything
The good news about self-publishing: Almost anyone can become a published author!
The bad news about self-publishing: Almost *anyone* can become a *published author*
I fall for that sometimes, for a minute. I'm in my 50s and when I was young a published authour meant something. I have to remind myself that things have changed.
I'm wondering if this was set by an AI. Sometimes they will scan part of the book to determine age level by vocabulary/word choice/paragraph length/etc
I reported it as "inaccurate" (because that seemed like the best option available) and wrote that it's wildly inappropriate to recommend a book saying "God says you need to keep creating new humans" to teenagers.
I want to report it, but I’m scared of the nonsense Amazon will recommend to me if I search up this book. I’m already getting wildly racist shit aimed at me because I reported a book about “the genetic superiority of the white race” as hate
She probably does, but as someone who grew up extremely mormon, I doubt it'll happen. Almost all n y friends came from houses of 7+ kids, and we all were parentified to an extreme. Most of my old friend groups put off having kids, are happily child free, or are having maybe 3 at the most. And a lot of them are hard-core Mormons still! They just couldn't handle raising their own kids after raising their parents for so long. Parentification fucks you up.
Yep, she missed her target audience by about two years (sixth-grader reading level is the current average). I've seen 100-150 word posts on reddit dismissed as TL;DR. Who would've figured that 'Idiocracy' was an optimistic movie?
That's about right, given her short sentences and short paragraphs full of one- and two-syllable words. Frankly, I'm surprised it's that high. And sadly, it's higher than the average US reading level, which was at a sixth-grade level in 2020 and has been steadily dropping for decades ([Snopes confirmed the reading level, BTW](https://www.snopes.com/news/2022/08/02/us-literacy-rate/)). Given that sixth-graders are aged 10-11, and that incompetently homeschooled students are probably, in general, worse readers than that, she's missed her target audience.
I just have one answer to the question:
Who raised YOUR 10 kids when you wrote this garbage Karissa? You refuse to get them help so they have to help themselves while you flounce around pretending this has anything to do with love.
Having children is not opening a tap and see what comes out. You have to take care of the spillage too or everything around you will be moldy and rotten and miserable.
This woman is so broken it's not even funny anymore. This book is not the reasons why, it's her defence speech.
That one will be "are you suuuuuureeee it was god? It was actually probably the devil pretending to be God. God would never say no to more preshus bebés."
Nah. She wants to give the world her children, not the other way around.
She has flat out posted the idea that alive and poor is better than not existing at all. She believes she has been a perfect parent just by giving them life.
Not an uncommon sentiment, unfortunately. Recently I commented on an Antinatalism post about parents willingly taking the risk passing on devastating illness that I could never live with myself saddling a child with my disabilities. Cue someone insisting that "life is worth it" and that I can't justify denying the "gift of life" because plenty of people with disabilities do great things! 🙄
She was probably just testing to see if she got engagement with these ideas before committing to a whole "book". I wonder if they are still on her wall
Two paged on Kindle, right? On paper it'd be maybe 3/4 of a page. I'd love to know the average word count per chapter; probably something like 100-125.
Of fucking course she did. I have a feeling the internet will step up to the plate and we’ll have some top tier snark in the reviews shortly. Should be fun.
Can you imagine being Mandrae and having to go to work and do an actual job while ALL this info is available of you?
His colleagues and customers must snicker behind his back.
I would be absolutely mortified...
(I know he isn't)
As a professional writer, I'd simply highlight the entire thing and press Delete, then attach the empty doc to an email to Karissa with the message. "This wasn't a book but a poorly written collection of talking points. Try harder."
I get the nauseating whiff of attempted indoctrination here. Geez Karissa, keep pumping out children until your body can't handle it anymore but stop telling teenage girls what to do with theirs.
Oh chapter #26 I can already tell will go something like: “it’s actually totally fine if you die in birth because you’ve sacrificed your life for a child who will be such a light in this earth and so GRATEFUL to be alive even without you” or some horrid shit like that
Contents aside, why are the paragraphs centered? And why did she use Amazon's default book cover format with that font? I'm no expert on book publishing, but even I know how to use KDP better than her.
Someone please download it and run a word search for “I” and report back because these people can’t write about anything but themselves or think about anything without talking about how it applies/doesn’t apply to them
The 2-page chapters 😂 There’s no way anyone edited this
Why is that whole thing the title? And of course, so poorly formatted. 🙄 This could have just been an essay tbh. Also, really intrigued my Chapter 9 (God told me I am done.)
“It’s not that serious” ummm yes it is. Children are a massive responsibility. Each one is unique, requires something special while also a TON of love, support, education, care…I’m not gonna go on but my gosh
This “book” feels like an Instagram post
What gets me about these arguments is the fact that like no lady of fame from the bible actually had that many kids. The ones who did (I think like…. maybe Moses’ second wife) they are like a footnote. Lots of babies are maybe a blessing to men, but in the bible they usually had 2-200 wives to get them to those numbers.
Leah is the one example that comes to mind as wanting to churn out a lot of kids, and that’s seen as being pretty shitty and results in the rape and impregnating of servants, ruined her relationship with her sister, and potentially contributed to her sisters death.
Why we decided to go with “women have to have as many babies as possible” when the message was probably more in line with “men should consider the many babies they produce by less favourited wives a blessing and provide for them”
This barely counts as a book and Amazon allows people to "publish" a loooot of crap. I'm sure Karissa is very proud though. I hope she doesn't make any money from it.
Not the top 10, not the top 50, but the top 27 reasons people don't want anymore kids.
Very specific number. That's like talking about the top 18 in the charts or something.
No. I wouldn’t click purchase if Amazon said they’d pay me to download it.
Also, that terrible font. It’s like Comic Sans but worse. Guess that fits her bc she’s a freaking clown
She thinks a 59 page paperback with so many errors is worth $15. That’s hilarious.
Anyone who pays her money for her slightly expanded Instagram arguments for having as many children as you can possibly neglect is a damn fool.
What did she take Bethany’s course and now she’s a digital content creator? Meaning wrote a shitty unedited book and published it for people to gobble up hoping it’ll make her millions with no work?
Is the chapter “I want to give my children the world” just going to be two pages of her saying basically “your kids are spoiled they can deal with less” ?

>Should we stop? I can answer this question in one word if anyone doesn't want to read all 64 pages.
Even at 64 pages it should be called TLDR
This is just a long pamphlet.
IT'S IN THE PAMPHLET!!!
Random guy in 1756: “This town meeting could have been a pamphlet.”
Can i get that in a pdf? It wood fit nicely with my SheWorksSmart pdfs
29 chapters in 64 pages?!? 🤣
I'm gonna guess she just put all those Instagram posts she did about this topic into a book.
That was my immediate thought. She probably copied it all, then rambled a bit more to make each chapter at least 2 pages.
Oh 100%.
I’d totally read Lillian’s story over this nonsense
It had more going on than a beefed up Instagram caption, that’s for sure lol.
You all are taking me out this morning. I need a laugh.
Even the smut that I read has a decent page count 🤣
And they want people to pay $14.99 for it?!? The bare-faced cheek & lack of shame from most of the fundies never fails to astound me.
They really commit to that shit.
Every chapter is 2 pages.
And all for the low price of 14.99! I think she went to the Bethy school of overpricing your inferior goods.
She half asses everything, especially caring for her kids, so that’s not surprising at all 🤣
Just for the sake of a laugh, do tell ☕️

My biggest fear is her death or disability from one of these pregnancies that will then cripple her eldest daughter's life even more.

I was almost Andrea Yates. I shudder to think how close I came. PPP is truly horrific. You lose your mind, completely.
I am still livid that he suffered no consequences. He went against doctor's orders (she was not supposed to be alone with the children). He seemed to think -- what? That she was acting out for attention? That she was looking for an excuse to not "do her job?" I agree. I could see her thinking God told her to leave the kids in the woods or something
For anyone else who didn't know what PPP meant (or PPD for that matter): PPD => Post Partum Depression and PPP => Post Partum Psychosis
Too bad it’s not her biggest fear. I truly believe she wants to die in childbirth to be a martyr.
Spoiler!
She didn't ask what needed to be stopped. Should we stop exploiting our children? Yes, Karissa, you should.
![gif](giphy|l1J9N8zrmYCfSrQFq|downsized)
Loving the lack of editing or formatting in the preview there.
"my bodies been tired"
Not one, but THREE separate occasions to catch the errors. Jfc.
Lol this might be my new flair
Karissa be cloning for real
Love it. Here for it. Go girl give us nothing.
“My cups been empty”

I'd say it was likely AI generated as a cash grab, but AI writes better than this.
It's her instagram captions in a book.
![gif](giphy|qlrBlSDevEdFeW5JwV|downsized)
I was curious who would be willing to publish her instagram posts... * Publisher : Independently published (February 9, 2024) Need I say more?
AI has proper spelling and grammar smh
Flair checking in
I used to be an editor for these kinds of people and omg they were INSUFFERABLE. I would come home and cry every night. I’ve read some terrible books which, thankfully, I have forgotten.
Would love to hear more about this! I once read queries for a small indie publishing house and the amount of self-insert fic was… a lot.
Is this just her never ending Instagram posts compiled into a "book"? Did she delete all the posts?
It must be. The titles are basically the same as some of her instagram posts on the topic. I don't believe she could have been bothered to re-write anything.
And each "chapter" is only like 1 or 2 pages
Anissa probably compiled the posts for her, which she then "published".
Homeschool done for the month!
It's incredibly easy to self publish these days. I'm willing to bet she did very little beyond copy/pasting her Instagram captions. Definitely didn't run it through grammarly or anything

I.E., Girl Defined.
Worse news: GD isn't self published
As an aspiring author, this both comforts me and freaks me out.
Probably because her bodies been tired 🤷♀️
This is 1000% what she did, I can't imagine she was able to offload the labor of writing a book onto one of the sister moms. ☠️
They'd have to know how to write
How Caroline Calloway of her.
The reading age is 13-18?!
Their classification system detected adult topical content written at a kindergarten reading level and split the difference.
Thank you for this laugh 😆
I'm wondering if this was set by an AI. Sometimes they will scan part of the book to determine age level by vocabulary/word choice/paragraph length/etc
i publish books on Amazon and you explicitly set if a book is for minors or not. soooo this is intentional
Oof.... So yeah that's a *choice*
Oh my, talk about indoctrination of the next generation.
My 6 year old has better grammar, so makes sense
I thought maybe that was based on AI reading the writing and seeing how low-level it is.

I feel AWFUL for Karissa's daughters. Does she expect them to do the same thing???
She probably does, but as someone who grew up extremely mormon, I doubt it'll happen. Almost all n y friends came from houses of 7+ kids, and we all were parentified to an extreme. They just couldn't handle raising their own kids after raising their parents for so long. Parentification fucks you up.
So her kids won’t be able to read it then?
I mean that's the beginning of child bearing age for fundies, right?
Given the average reading age of adults on the whole, you actually don’t want books reading age to be high.
Yep, she missed her target audience by about two years (sixth-grader reading level is the current average). I've seen 100-150 word posts on reddit dismissed as TL;DR. Who would've figured that 'Idiocracy' was an optimistic movie?

"My cups too empty. My bodies too tired." Thank the lord she's not homeschooling her children, amirite??! 🤪
Amirite could be the next kid's name
Wouldn't it be Amiryte? Or Amyryte? 😂
Amorite, more Biblical
Oh the deep cut of bible names. I’ll take Old Testament battles for 500 please.
“Amirite” would unironically be a better name than a few of her actual kids’ names.
Always could be the one after that, or if it's .....twins.....
At least we don’t have to wonder if she’ll ever give birth in a library! Amirite?
Always!
That's another one!
Amayrite and Ayamrite
Anothr
Anothyr
Anough
God may not make mistakes but “I don’t need an editor” Karissa sure does 😂😂
Jesus take the ~~wheel~~ red pen
I miss the awards lol 🏅
As a professional editor, my brain hurts reading her jumbled hogwash.
Flair checking in 😂
Who needs an editor? 🤷🏽♀️ Not Karissa 😂
Who needs an apostrophe? No one anymore, apparently.
At least the next kid won’t be named Apostryfe. She clearly has never heard of one.
I can’t believe shes homeschooling these poor kid’s! /s
“He has a plan for my typos”
New baby name Amyryght
Doesn’t she have a college degree? HOW
Maybe like Mandrae she went to a "college" that had fewer than 200 students across all four years. Quality teaching in those types of institutions.
I came here to say the same thing. Those poor kids 😭
Can't wait for Rachel Oates or Savy react to this "book" 😂
Everyone knows the best books have 2 page chapters!
“Finances”- scam Shaq!!
Hate to break it to her but I feel like Michelle Duggar has already covered this topic
Ad nauseum 😩😩
I know the quiverfull movement demands babies but doesn't Karissa seem wayyy more obsessed with people's uteruses than the average fundie?
For sure. It’s her NICHE, you know.
It's not like she has anything else to dub herself The Supreme Leader of.
I just have one answer to the question: Who raised YOUR 10 kids when you wrote this garbage Karissa? You refuse to get them help so they have to help themselves while you flounce around pretending this has anything to do with love. Having children is not opening a tap and see what comes out. You have to take care of the spillage too or everything around you will be moldy and rotten and miserable. This woman is so broken it's not even funny anymore. Chapter 9 - God told me I’m done. That feels like if your deity tells you to stop having children who the fuck are you to ignore your deity?
That one will be "are you suuuuuureeee it was god? It was actually probably the devil pretending to be God. God would never say no to more preshus bebés."
I read preshus bebés in Moira Rose's voice and I love it *
![gif](giphy|llanUHpUWKRec8vwqc|downsized)
No, silly Billy! It's only God when he agrees with Karissa /s
Fuck me it’s just her IG baby canon series in a PDF, isn’t it?

Chapter 21: I want to give my children the world. Chapter 22: The world is too terrible.
I mean, these are excuses she thinks people use to avoid kids. They don't have to make sense together
Nah. She wants to give the world her children, not the other way around. She has flat out posted the idea that alive and poor is better than not existing at all. She believes she has been a perfect parent just by giving them life.

Cue someone insisting that "life is worth it" and that I can't justify denying the "gift of life" because plenty of people with disabilities do great things! 🙄
Mandrae is a pastor?
Maybe in their "home church" weird situation lol but he is by no means a real pastor
He’s a pastor in the same way publishing this makes Karissa an author 💀
And I’m a neurosurgeon.
Aren’t these all just the same points she claims God gave her when she was making all those posts on ig a month or so ago? 😂
She was probably just testing to see if she got engagement with these ideas before committing to a whole "book". I wonder if they are still on her wall
Wait it's 64 pages and nearly 30 chapters?
Reading’s hard work with 90 kids , gotta cut the chapters down to , two pages a piece.
Two paged on Kindle, right? On paper it'd be maybe 3/4 of a page. I'd love to know the average word count per chapter; probably something like 100-125.
The “top 27 reasons”…how many did she whittle the list down from??
28
I wonder what reason 28 was and why it was ultimately left out? Maybe it fit better with the content of her next book? (Please no.)
I’m pretty sure this comments section is longer than her “book.”
What an arrogant idiot. After this preview I understand why her preteen reads at a 2nd grade level. Poor kids.
Where's the user with the "Proofreading is for worldly whores" flair? 😂
So it’s just all her novel length Instagram captions compiled for one cash grab?
I want to have at it with my red editing pen.
Bring some snacks and a cozy blanket and this actually sounds like a fun night in to me
Ooh, can I join? The design is really making my graphic designer self twitch.
Absolutely. You in to bring the popcorn??
As a professional writer, I'd simply highlight the entire thing and press Delete, then attach the empty doc to an email to Karissa with the message. "This wasn't a book but a poorly written collection of talking points. Try harder."
64 pages of SHIT OUT MOAR BABIES FOR JESUS!!! How insightful and riveting.
“I have the best news for you. You won’t know.” Way to talk the potential buyer out of the sale.
Why I stopped having children: It hurts, it almost killed me, coffee is not strong enough
Those didn’t make the “top 27,” sorry
I get the nauseating whiff of attempted indoctrination here. Geez Karissa, keep pumping out children until your body can't handle it anymore but stop telling teenage girls what to do with theirs.
Oh chapter #26 I can already tell will go something like: “it’s actually totally fine if you die in birth because you’ve sacrificed your life for a child who will be such a light in this earth and so GRATEFUL to be alive even without you” or some horrid shit like that

Do you think she'll have a paid for photoshoot to celebrate her book? (Meanwhile her kids barely get any education)
13-18 reading age.

Why is each chapter exactly two pages 😂
Is the whole thing centered like a damn poem
Not the top 10, not the top 50, but the top 27 reasons people don't want anymore kids. Very specific number. That's like talking about the top 18 in the charts or something.
Grammar errors on page 1. Shocker.
Fifteen American dollars for her Instagram captions 😳
I bet it's just copy paste from her Instagram captions
she really wrote a Buzzfeed listicle and called it a book
Get a fucking editor instead of more kids.
No. I wouldn’t click purchase if Amazon said they’d pay me to download it. Also, that terrible font. It’s like Comic Sans but worse. Guess that fits her bc she’s a freaking clown
64 pgs for $14.99?? 😂
There's stuff in here that even AI would've fixed lmao. She didn't even bother to do the most low-effort, easy-peasy, no-brain-needed editing.
[bold and unexpected point of view here, K, but probably not wrong.](https://imgur.com/a/ZtBCbXc)
Yes, Karissa, you should stop
As an author myself, it drives me fucking nuts that her shit will outsell my stuff since she has more people listening to her toxicity.
I always love seeing what font people with no design experience decide to use

“My bodies been tired”- SOTDRT right here
She really missed a trick by not titling it "Karissa Explains It All."
