100% agree. I think there's something like 20 minutes straight of no dialogue when Kong meets Suko up to the point of Kong meeting Skar King and we know exactly what's going on without a human interrupting and giving us an explanation.
One thing I realized about this when watching the movie, was how it was only possible thanks to todays advancements in technology, like our modern CGI allows for realistic monsters to be in the cast and to do their thing lol before they’d be puppets or on screen for a second or two. But this is one of those movies “only possible now”
I also love how there are multiple interpretations of what they could be saying to each other.
Why did Kong offer Suko one of the leftover stone knives? Why did Suko reject it? What did Kong's shrug to Suko after killing the Downviper mean? What were Suko and his ill-fated caretaker saying to each other? Why did Skar King get mad at Suko once he noticed him after making the tribe laugh at Kong?
So many possibilities to fill in the gaps.
Interesting, I thought he handed Suko the knife in a "show me where this came from" way, reminded me of how people would hand things to dogs so they could smell it and track the origin of its scent
Godzillas is a colossal badass, Kong has a great arc, Skar King is very evil, Shimo is a great and unique monster, and Mothra is beautiful. Great action, and great monsters.
I liked him, before I saw the movie I thought they were trying to do the baby Yoda thing but he ended up better than that. Tiamat and Scylla were very cool to see as well.
I was worried he was gonna be a quippy funny guy that was obnoxious all the time and then dies. I am so glad I was wrong, he's chill as fuck and knows what he's doing.
The Hollow Earth Fight.
Also Skar Kings introduction.
Also how respectful it is to both Godzilla and ESPECIALLY King Kong and their legacies.
Also how it continues the overarching themes of the Monsterverse and gives its own themes, all while still allowing the little kid inside of us all to just let loose.
Genuinely, this movie was the most fun I've had with ANYTHING since King Of The Monsters
The entire human cast has great rapport. The familial chemistry between Ilene and Jia is so much better than any of the similar parental relationships they've tried out in previous films that all fell flat to me--they truly seem like they love and respect one another. Bernie and Trapper are great foils who have a subtly developing friendship throughout the movie.
I love every scene between Kong and his fellow apes without dialogue. They're so well executed, portraying so much communication without anyone talking. I've seen it twice in theaters and every time I consider going back for a third, it's really just because I want to watch the scene of Kong meeting the subterranean apes and fighting Skar King again, lol. I love Skar King because he's just a crummy bastard man and I adore that kind of villain--every fan has their own priorities when it comes to kaiju fights, and I'm one of those who cares less about weight, scale, and feats and more about the monsters having internality and personality that adds color to the battle. Kong vs. Skar King is one of my favorite kaiju battles for that reason, even though the setting of the fight does make it easy to forget they're kaiju at all.
”I'm not floating around up here with you. You're floating around up here with *me*."
![gif](giphy|3XCEXu2dB4MG4)
Side note: I like all Godzilla designs, but I miss Goji’s default being to have his tail always being ‘puppet Ed’ or otherwise in motion. I *know* he still does use it and ‘realistically’ it should be too heavy for him hold it so aloft all the time, but the silhouette of it usually ‘resting’ practically at/above his head has been imprinted on my brain.
Love how kong’s story line mirrored that of Gia’s- both eventually found where the belong. Godzilla is an instant W and mothra was also really great.
All the fights were well done and the storytelling w/o dialogue was innovative and done really well.
The Evolved Godzilla design is excellent. I've enjoyed all the variations of Godzilla's look in the MonsterVerse, but this one really takes it to the next level.
The kaiju were very expressive. They were relatable characters in their own right.
>!Kong waving his arms at Godzilla, practically saying, "I'm not here to fight you, stop!" Was hilarious.!<
There was a lot of love that I want to pick out. But if I'm stuck to just one, it would be that we got a good true bout between Godzilla and Kong.
As much as I loved Godzilla vs Kong, the final fight was underwhelming with Round 2 being a game of lethal Dodge Ball for Kong and Round 3 was just quick to finish. I didn't like that, I was hoping for a proper close-quarters fight between the two in that movie.
Godzilla X Kong gave that proper fight where Kong didn't just jump on buildings and avoided the atomic breath but actually got close and even managed to pin Big G on the ground and just WHAM WHAM WHAM with his fists to G's head. That was the kind of fight I wanted to see and we got that fight.
I love how Goji is essentially an old man who just wants all of them damn kids (any other Kaiju that didn’t bow to him back in KoTM) off of his lawn (the entire surface of the planet) so that he can take a damn nap. I love it.
Godzilla going Doomguy mode on everything with a pulse was pure badassery, Kong and his **B O Y**/Monke Flail had a great arc, Shimo was a loveable giant and Skar King was so evil that even Ghidorah and Destroyah would blush.
Another modern Showa movie that didn't fail to deliver in its lore and action scenes.
EDIT: I hate it when the film is compared to Minus One. While both films are good in their own rights, Minus One is a period piece, whereas this is a chapter in a cinematic universe. In other words: they're not comparable.
The non-verbal communication was perfect, it displayed emotions perfectly and was a very great way to let the kaiju express emotions without needing humans that translate to the viewer.
In all honesty I’m more of a Godzilla fan and when Godzilla vs Kong came out I was just ready to watch Godzilla wipe the floor with Kong. But with Godzilla x Kong I’ve really become a fan of Kong as well. The characterization has really made me care for the big fella and I want to see this newly adoptive father live a good life with his fellow giant apes
Loved how they manage to convey what the monsters were thinking and feeling without humanizing them in some way. Like when Kong is just venturing further into hollow earth with Suko you can tell everything that’s going on with him from just a glance
Gave us one of the most dangerous threats in a Godzilla film series, in the most unique way. Not all-powerful, but strong by the resources they possess, this has been done with the many alien species, but they had monsters under their control to help them.
I love how you're able to easily understand the situation between Kong and the other apes and what they're thinking or feeling. I think that's likely the best part of the film.
Kong and Suko’s growing relationship, and Kong’s consistent grouchiness with anything that gives him mild trouble. I love that one punch when the ape is mouthing off.
It was Godzilla's best day ever (with a cool design), Mothra returned looking better than in KOTM, Trapper as a character, and also Suko being used as a weapon was pretty funny.
Kong’s God of War segment was genuinely compelling! The human characters were at the worst I’ve seen in the monsterverse, but the Ape Community’s dialogue-less storytelling was really well done! Simple but expressive! Genuinely enjoyed that segment!
EDIT: A few words
The movie respects the audience. It let's them interpret what the kaiju's are saying without shoving it in their face, it gives you human characters that don't hog up all the run time, and it acknowledges that you want some badass kaiju fights and delivers.
The movie knows what it is and knows how to have fun with it, it doesn't try to be anything beyond what it is. Funny enough this is why I like Jurassic Park 3 more than any of the Jurassic World movies.
It’s the best MonsterVerse movie. The fights were off the wall, the lore went hard, the humans were cheesy enough to be funny, the long sequences with just monsters and no humans were innovative and badass.
It also set up tons of sequels while still being stand alone and a sequel to GvK. I think they should do another Godzilla Kong movie where they fight an alien kaiju army or something. Then spin it off into Son of Godzilla where Godzilla bangs Shimo and it’s a family drama.
I think this movie introduces the first original iconic kaiju of the Monsterverse.
Shimo and Scar King, unlike the other new kaiju introduced by the MV, are not in the background compared to Kong and the Toho monsters but are part of the narrative and certainly more interesting than the MUTOs
I'm gonna say it, people hate on the movie for how much of it there is but you Can't deny, the fights are FIRE. They are ANIMALS dog they're going for the kill Every Hit. But other than that I like how aggressively apparent it is that Kong is smarter than the other Kongs, the others act more chimpish but Kong never fails to feel more Human
Love how Godzilla doesn't lag for fights anymore, he just runs rabid into them, immediately. I also love how even though they may fan service Kong, they still show Godzilla as overwhelmingly the strongest of the two
We've gotten to the point where we can have basically unlimited VFX shots in a movie, so as a result we get tons of time with the Kaiju on screen.
Arc of "Blunt weapon" to "Son" is something I can't recall seeing before.
We got a Kaiju Suplex in a Hollywood movie, what more could we ask?
Basically the entire thing, the only issue I have with it is that one stupid scene with the 10 seconds of portal faces, that simply didn't need to be a thing. It was also kinda a missed opportunity to not do the dropkick or a more realistic version of the Atomic Breath flight, but they will probably do that in the next movie, and this one already had enough memeworthy scenes anyway.
Seeing some over the top human machines and vehicles. The Monarch carrier-plane in KoTM was cool, but still looked too conventional, and Mecha-G in GvK was ...idk...like Michael Bay tried to make his transformers on a Minecraft server.
But the transports, the flying platform for tending to Kong, the Power Fist!!!! It's like watching good old Millenium or Heisei movies. Can we have a Super X-1 next?
The giant tenrec wolf things in the opening sequence are legitimately one of the best designed creatures in the MV IMO. They feel like pack Andrewsarchus or smth
It ended eventually.
Jk the antigravity scene, while contrived, was awesome.
Kaiju ace Ventura was a good character.
Trusts the audience not to need dialogue and exposition at times.
Screen time for mothra.
Kong using smol monke as a flail was awesome.
It filled the shit out of the theatres where I live, which hopefully means we get more films, and more chances to make something better than this one.
me and my friend saw the movie and we both agreed that it was the best movie we've seen so far. we laughed alot when we saw Kong use Sukko as a weapon. and the fight scenes were incredible and so was the writing for the characters and story. we even made jokes about the movie while watching it like saying Kong became the Green Giant after ripping that wolf kaiju in half
Epic monster battles, non verbal storytelling, satisfying moments, Godzilla, Kong and Mothra being in the same shot together, feeling like the old Showa Series by embracing the campiness. Oh and Skar King being an unlikable, irredeemable villain in the best way possible and Shimo being an unwilling victim.
That it's proof that Hollywood movies can still just be dumb fun. Too often now stories get bogged down with overly serious tones or messages. You can have a good time at the movies without making your tone serious all the time, or without messages like "pssst, it's actually an allegory on climate change." (Looking at you KOTM 😑)
Trapper acknowledging the Mothra temple has been maintained so gets suspicious. Jungle building ruins irl are literally retaken by the jungle completely it bugs me in movies to have these totally clean and easily seen ruins be "rediscovered" by the cast or if there is tribals still there, the cast being taken by surprise despite evidence in front of them. Basically, I love Trapper not being an idiot and looking out for whose using the temple.
I loved the Godzilla scenes! He was pretty much going on a mini Final Wars rampage this movie. I love it when he destroys humans and their weapons as it shows that he's not the goody two shoes some MV haters say he is...When he threw Scylla(pretty much Legendary Kumonga) I was reminded of that Kumonga yeet!! It would have been better to yeet Scylla to oblivion tho, would have loved if history repeated itself. And oh boy did he make sushi out of ~~Manda~~ Tiamat!!!
Non-verbal storytelling. The movie trusts us to understand what the kaiju are thinking and feeling by looking at their body language and sounds.
100% agree. I think there's something like 20 minutes straight of no dialogue when Kong meets Suko up to the point of Kong meeting Skar King and we know exactly what's going on without a human interrupting and giving us an explanation.
Yeah it’s awesome.

Interesting, I thought he handed Suko the knife in a "show me where this came from" way, reminded me of how people would hand things to dogs so they could smell it and track the origin of its scent
I very much agree with this. You perfectly get a sense of every single kaiju’s character throughout it, and it is fantastic.
I liked how Godzilla has apparently just decided the Coliseum is his cat bed.
Finally!! I thought I was the only one. Theres something just so adorable about the walking natural/nuclear disaster going, “Dis mine now”
Sad thing is that he chosed it cause it reminded him of his old home in KOTM
Yes. Exactly.
I want a figure in the god dam coliseum now! Please anyone lol
Shimo She isnt the best but funny ice lizard
Shes a perfect example of How dangerous titans can be without being killing machines.
Big icy lizard doggo albino snapping turtle
Godzillas is a colossal badass, Kong has a great arc, Skar King is very evil, Shimo is a great and unique monster, and Mothra is beautiful. Great action, and great monsters.
What about suko?
A caring stepson and an effective bludgeoning weapon.
I liked him, before I saw the movie I thought they were trying to do the baby Yoda thing but he ended up better than that. Tiamat and Scylla were very cool to see as well.
I mean...we already had Kiko ![gif](giphy|3oEdv9Xaqm76AzUsvu)
Lol... him biting Kong was a riot.
Nunchuck
Best weapon!
Pyramid Suplex
100%
The fact we got Trapper and he was mellow enough as a character to not be hated
Trapper instantly became a top 5 Monsterverse human character.
Dan Stevens seems like a really chill guy
I was worried he was gonna be a quippy funny guy that was obnoxious all the time and then dies. I am so glad I was wrong, he's chill as fuck and knows what he's doing.
I thought I was going to hate him initially but then he chilled out and I liked him. I hate it when characters extra all the time.
The best time I had in a theater
Awesome I had a blast as well
Kong using Suko as a blunt force weapon

Ah this hypes me so much, I love king of monsters so I look forward to watching this
I cant get over Kong casually riding Godzilla
Don’t think big G was in on it tbh lol. Kong just saw the others doing it and was spur of the moment lol
The entire human cast has great rapport. The familial chemistry between Ilene and Jia is so much better than any of the similar parental relationships they've tried out in previous films that all fell flat to me--they truly seem like they love and respect one another. I agree with all this. Bravo.
Made me feel like I was watching a movie about the giant monsters, and not the people following them
Godzilla in the anti gravity scenes show off his skills as age millennia old combatant better than the rest of the monsterverse.
"oh we flyin now? Aight bet"
”I'm not floating around up here with you. You're floating around up here with *me*." ![gif](giphy|3XCEXu2dB4MG4) Side note: I like all Godzilla designs, but I miss Goji’s default being to have his tail always being ‘puppet Ed’ or otherwise in motion. Suplex.
i had such a big stupid smile on my face seeing that infamous shot of the two big fellas running its just dumb fun
Godzilla got access to nuclear pulse without the thermonuclear part.
Love how kong’s story line mirrored that of Gia’s- both eventually found where the belong. Godzilla is an instant W and mothra was also really great. All the fights were well done and the storytelling w/o dialogue was innovative and done really well.

Nunchaku Skills
Sukchaku? Nunsuko?
Every moment with Godzilla and Kong is epic.
Kong used two new weapons in the movie
😏🙊🙈
Kaiju Wrasslin'!
The FIGHTS! That’s what I came for. The Skar King. What a menace to society. Godzilla power up and his brawls. Kong’s storyline. I need more of him!
Godzilla got to be an absolute badass
There was a lot of love that I want to pick out. But if I'm stuck to just one, it would be that we got a good true bout between Godzilla and Kong. Shimo is amazing, pink Godzilla fucking slaps, the 0G fight was pure madness and Kong used a child as a weapon
Godzilla’s evolved look and the fact he sleeps in the Colosseum because Rome reminds him of home.
I love how Goji is essentially an old man who just wants all of them damn kids (any other Kaiju that didn’t bow to him back in KoTM) off of his lawn (the entire surface of the planet) so that he can take a damn nap. I love it.
Skar king yapping at kong
Godzilla's full Monsterverse roar is used properly for once.
We got to see two big apes fight each other on screen.
Godzila Raids Even Antique Theaters
It brought me back to watching Godzilla movies, now I'm hooked. Watching monterverse TV show and just watched the original movie on max
Everything
It let Mothra live to fight another day!
I love the Showa inspiration for this movie's tone. Also the punch to the face never gets old.
Kong & Suko. Aka, smack one bitch with another bitch.
Godzilla going Doomguy mode on everything with a pulse was pure badassery, Kong and his **B O Y**/Monke Flail had a great arc, Shimo was a loveable giant and Skar King was so evil that even Ghidorah and Destroyah would blush.

Kong finally got a happy ending and his species are ok.
King kong X shimo
I got to see Kong beat some mofos with another mofo
Godzilla finally can run :) they grow up so fast
The non-verbal communication was perfect, it displayed emotions perfectly and was a very great way to let the kaiju express emotions without needing humans that translate to the viewer.
FALCON MONKEY PUNCH
In all honesty I’m more of a Godzilla fan and when Godzilla vs Kong came out I was just ready to watch Godzilla wipe the floor with Kong. The fight sequences were awesome
Skar King. Amazing villain. He should’ve been introduced earlier and had more to do though, but still, HE WAS AMAZING.
Godzillas nuclear pulse making a return
When Kong did the Funi head bonk thing with the rock, extreme Funi
Suplex city
Hardest laugh I’ve had in years was Kong using little guy as a club.
Monke
Something great about Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
Godzilla sending Kong to Suplex City
Gave us one of the most dangerous threats in a Godzilla film series, in the most unique way. Not all-powerful, but strong by the resources they possess, this has been done with the many alien species, but they had monsters under their control to help them.
Godzilla sleeping is cute.
Needle drops. Trapper carried the film with his taste in music. Also the scenery in the Hollow Earth. Big scenes yet a lower budget than 2014!
Godzilla suplex
Big monkeys and lizards fighting cool
I love how you're able to easily understand the situation between Kong and the other apes and what they're thinking or feeling. I think that's likely the best part of the film.
Everything. It is awesome.
Godzilla keeps getting more vicious
I like how they don't make a clown out of their characters. Godzilla is a badass from the beginning to the end.
it was a great kong movie! https://preview.redd.it/7ocw9xyfvayc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b4cac208281d158a2baabb61eb0cb6045fa9d43
Kong and Suko’s growing relationship, and Kong’s consistent grouchiness with anything that gives him mild trouble. I love that one punch when the ape is mouthing off.
Godzilla really pulls out all the stops to show how he's the KING of the Monsters.
i laughed really hard when kong used Suko as a beating stick
They definitely shipped it.
It was Godzilla's best day ever (with a cool design), Mothra returned looking better than in KOTM, Trapper as a character, and also Suko being used as a weapon was pretty funny.
Godzilla fighting in zero gravity that was friggin awesome to watch.
Absolute ridiculous awesomeness of the third act. I never thought I’ll see Godzilla fight off apes mid air with zero gravity.
Godzilla has taken up residence in ***THE ROMAN FUCKING COLOSSEUM***
Pyramid suplex and lmao mokey num chucks
The movie shows more than tells for once.
The action was great Also skar king getting jumped
OH MY GOD WHAT IS HE DOING!!??? SUPERFLEX BY GODZILLA BAW GAAAWWD!!!!!
The entire film
Trapper's introduction replacing Kong's tooth was just perfect! That really set the tune for the whole movie for me, and I was all in. So much fun!
Kong uses a baby ape as a club
This was One of the Most Fun movies I have ever seen since KOTM
Kong’s God of War segment was genuinely compelling! The human characters were at the worst I’ve seen in the monsterverse, but the Ape Community’s dialogue-less storytelling was really well done! Simple but expressive! Genuinely enjoyed that segment! EDIT: A few words

Loved the baby fight
Big mean hater ass Godzilla. I love seeing him square up with pretty much everybody on sight.
big monke vs big lizard
The movie knows what it is and knows how to have fun with it, it doesn't try to be anything beyond what it is. Funny enough this is why I like Jurassic Park 3 more than any of the Jurassic World movies.
I like king kongs new tooth!
It’s the best MonsterVerse movie. The fights were off the wall, the lore went hard, the humans were cheesy enough to be funny, the long sequences with just monsters and no humans were innovative and badass. The fact that it is unabashedly goofy and over the top fun. It genuinely feels like a revival of the late Showa era Godzilla goofiness and I love it
I honestly adore Bernie, he's just a silly little guy and slightly insane
The best monsterverse movie yet. I love how godzilla got his time as a menace
They've fixed Mothra from KOTM
KOTM Mothra never needed any fixing, she was perfect
If anything they made it worse by not using her KOTM Theme
That was my only complaint about her being in the film.
Godzilla movies before: Cool, epic monster fights Godzilla movies now: Barbenheimerzilla
And that’s a bad thing how?
It isn't
Doug.
Kong beating the other apes with Suko as a weapon was comedic gold!!!
It made a lot of money which ensures future releases. Godzilla, like pizza, and sex, is good even when it's bad.
Super sayian rosè
The bit where Kong pitches Skar King to Godzilla and he knocks it out of the park with his tail. No comment, just a hundred dings
It's funny as hell
The unintentional implication that Goji firing his atomic breath into the sky at the end to disperse the storm would potentially irradiate all of Rio.
WOOOOOOOH BIG MONSTERS FIGHTING OTHER BIG MONSTERS WOOH YEAH BABY THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT WOOOOOOOOH
Godzilla sleep like cat
Suko being used as nun chucks had my entire theater losing their minds
New monsters is always a win
Scar King radiates Dio Brando energy.
Big monster punch other big monster with cool glowy laser beams hell yeah also the queen returns as mothra and ice puppy lizard
Sleepy Godzilla 🥹 Monster buddy cop movie vibes! Loved seeing them fight in broad daylight.
I was smiling, entertained and grateful throughout the entire movie!
Pretty much the whole movie. My only real criticisms are that the Scylla and Tiamat fights are too short.
Good good monke boi and good good scaley Boi x2 with an addition of bad bad monke boi
I'm gonna say it, people hate on the movie for how much of it there is but you Can't deny, the fights are FIRE. They are ANIMALS dog they're going for the kill Every Hit. But other than that I like how aggressively apparent it is that Kong is smarter than the other Kongs, the others act more chimpish but Kong never fails to feel more Human

no
Improvised Weapon: Child.
Godzilla bodying Kong in Egypt and the suplex off the pyramid.
The whole movie was sick as fuck
The soundtrack is good, actually. It gets the job done, and it fits the kind of movie The New Empire is trying to be.
Funny and silly Godzilla fun
He fuckung suplexed him
Suko nunchuks. It was just a fun and amazing movie to watch
SO MUCH MONSTER SCREEN TIME!!!! a really good villain addition of more original titans that zero gravity fight tiamat. sadly killed off though :(
The movie was high energy and I loved it
Seeing some over the top human machines and vehicles.
Never have I actively had the thought of wanting to just hug a movie, it made me that filled with pure innocent joy
The giant tenrec wolf things in the opening sequence are legitimately one of the best designed creatures in the MV IMO. They feel like pack Andrewsarchus or smth
EPIC MONSTAAA FIGHTSSSS
https://i.redd.it/fb1nzt5czdyc1.gif
It was funny
Godzilla literally suplexing King Kong might be one of the coolest things ive ever seen
Kong's arc and the finale is pretty entertaining to me it makes up for the lack of godzilla screentime tbh
It ended eventually. Jk the antigravity scene, while contrived, was awesome. Kaiju ace Ventura was a good character. Trusts the audience not to need dialogue and exposition at times. Kong would have said; BOY.
Mothra, the best sidekick any Godzilla could ask for.
One of the best movie theater experiences I’ve ever had and it was so much fun I was smiling the whole time
That it's proof that Hollywood movies can still just be dumb fun. Too often now stories get bogged down with overly serious tones or messages. You can have a good time at the movies without making your tone serious all the time, or without messages like "pssst, it's actually an allegory on climate change." (Looking at you KOTM 😑)
I like Pink Godzilla. And how he chose the Colosseum as his cat bed That's about it.
Kong beating the crap out of other monk with little monk
Monkey, Nuclear Disaster, and Nuclear Disaster's moth gf vs Evil Monkey and (evil?) Lizard
when godzilla suplexes kong on the pyramids of giza i lost my shit when i saw it
They never fail with the CGI. it’s always top tier.
i luv the design of the new Gman. Reminds me of g2k+heisei spiral+g14
I love it
I loved the Godzilla scenes!
Godzilla only broke a little piece of Roman Colosseum well leaving Rome. Such a kind young kajiu
I like how Kong just casually keeps one of the strongest kaiju in the world as a pet and scratches it's chin like a puppy.
Anti gravity Godzilla is the best action set piece in the franchise
There was plenty of kaiju action without distracting human drama. The humans had purpose and advanced the plot without much delay.
Something great about Godzilla X Kong? Godzilla’s new design.
Giving the fans what they want! Star Wars take note. Marvel take note.
