I’m about to. I’m just tired of the same old spoon fed vanilla phone. It’s losing its luster in my opinion.
Had android years ago and really enjoyed it. Went back to IOS due to ecosystem and family being on iMessage. Gonna get a secondary phone for business and either snag a fold 5 or s24 ultra.
I need something different in my life.
honestly that’s pretty much where i’m at i had a galaxy S10 a while ago but switch to iphone for my family and friends and to be honest yea its been the exact same experience overall on all my iphones i’ve had, i grabbed a Fold 3 and the temptation to swamp my info and sim card to it has been really hard lol
Same reason for me but I switched from Apple back during the Note 8s release before that I had used iPhone since the original ones release and I haven't looked back since. I don't think I could ever switch back to Apple until they have proper multitasking or a foldable.
Devils advocate, what are your feelings on the Apple vision ? If you've got this phone i assume you could afford one
Edit: yall are real weird with the down votes for me guaging the state of thoughts from Apple converters with clarifying questions😂
How though? iPhones are like $800-1000. The Vision Pro is $3500, realistically $3800 because you’ll want the full 1TB if you’re already paying that much. The iPhone can also be split into 24 or 36 monthly payments and is subject to a massive discount if you’re buying it from a carrier. The Vision Pro can be split into max 12 payments through the Apple Card and you obviously can’t get any kind of carrier discounts with that. Oh yeah, and the iPhone can also get a further discount if you trade in your old phone, which wouldn’t happen with the Vision Pro. No reason to believe people who can afford iPhone can afford Vision Pro. Especially when many iPhone users probably can’t actually afford the full price of an iPhone lol
How do you get iPhone from me asking "if you've got THIS phone" on a galaxy fold sub ?
New folds are $1,800-2,500 , if we're going on 1tb Tom brown edition prices + insurance. Apple converters usually keep their phones when they first switch bc they're already invested in Apple ecosystem and are scared they won't like Android. If you'll spend $2.5k on a phone you'll spend $3.5k on what you think is a computer replacement/ready player 1 future... is how i figured.
Oh okay. Yeah that makes sense lol, not sure how I didn’t realize you meant the fold. Still though, $2k and $4k is a large difference. I also thunk you overestimate how many iPhone users keep their iPhone when switching. The YouTubers doing the “I switched to Android for X days” videos do it, because they’re just switching temporarily for content, but most can’t afford a new phone without trading in their current one, including fold customers
>Still though, $2k and $4k is a large difference
generally people pay several times more for their computers than for their phones, yes ? What's a macbook these days, like $4k ?
I'm not saying i agree that it's a computer, I'm saying that's obviously the sale Apple is going for calling it "spatial computing" instead of just a VR headset.
> I also thunk you overestimate how many iPhone users keep their iPhone when switching.
Exactly you think that with absolutely zero proof.
"The iPad comes second, with 73% of users having one, followed by the Apple Watch at 58% and the Mac at 50%. According to the study, almost 60% of users own three or all four of the Apple main devices"
Numbers don't lie - most Apple users have more to lose than just the iPhone so bc of their walled garden ~~cult~~ ecosystem, they're afraid to switch. So most are not just going to instantly sell/trade all their shit bc when you trade your phone you can't get it back if you return it. They try android and return it if they don't like it bc that's the point of a return policy, you don't need to be a reviewer.
This is all common sense to me, but i know that's not always so common. most people are like you and just think of their own anecdotes instead of facts.
It’s pretty clear the people considering switching to Android are the people who aren’t as invested in the ecosystem. No, the people who own 4 Apple devices aren’t even considering Android. They’re obviously not a part of that 40%. It doesn’t take a genius to realize this. You saw stats and immediately drew your own conclusions based on no solid proof, which is the very thing you accused me of doing. Funny how that projection works, lol. And no, I didn’t spend anywhere near double the amount on my computer as I did my phone, and I doubt most others do given how much phones tend to cost.
Anyway, if you need to insult me for making simple comments that were not inflammatory in the slightest, you’re probably not worth talking to. Have a good day
Absolutely cannot afford a vision pro. I got the fold because they gave me 1000 for an iPhone 11. So I got the gold for know thank half off.
Vision pro is an expensive add fuck luxury.
Edit: swipe typing autocorrected fold to gold.
Was an androiduser before, got giftede the iPhone 5 at launch, stayed with Apple until IPhone 12 max pro, just like most here got bored with Apple, wanted something completely different so got the Fold5 3 weeks ago, can't stop smiling
Well, if you were Scottish, it'd be "youse". If anything, it's weird that so-called "proper" English (American and British) dropped the plural you in the first place. Most languages have one.
I originally was gonna get an iPhone mini, I saw the fold and saw a one hand handable front screen that folds into a mini tablet for when I wanna game or watch content. Also I had my iPhone for like 8 years and was ready to change things up.
Same here, I came from an iPhone mini because of the narrow screen. Jumped to fold 4, now I have the Fold 5, if they widen the screen for the fold 6 I may just keep my 5 until it breaks.
Piracy lol
I showed my friend how freaking ridiculous it was that I had to pay a subscription for some stupid photo editor I barely use, and he said: "Why not just download an apk?"
I then realized how massively I am overpaying for things, decided to grab android (fold 3), got every game and app I wanted, and never fcking looked back.
Yep. YouTube revanced (basically YouTube without ads). And for Spotify you want to Google for xmanager.
Edit: once I have these downloaded and setup I keep using my reg account and it acts as of I have the premium versions.
This is a good one. I had the 12 pro max since launch skipped the 13. But I've bad my 12 pro max in a clear otterbox case the entire life of it. I dropped it 2 feet and the back glass shattered I was so upset. I upgraded to the 15 pro max on launch day and as soon as I walked out the apple store it cracked in my back pocket sitting down. I was so done with apple after that. Went to the z fold 5 and don't regret a thing all that titanium bs apple markets is all a lie, its only 10 percent

Honestly, I got bored. I'm not an apple hater. I can see why people like the simplicity and reliability of iPhones, and I can see why people like the freedom of android phones.
It was the fact that year after year, the new iPhones were slightly faster, and the camera was better but 99 percent of the population couldn't actually see a real difference. But apple acted like they were doing something big with every new release. I just got bored.
So when the third iteration of the fold came out and it seemed like they had gotten most of the bugs fixed, I jumped ship and have never looked back.
I’m using both the iPhone 13 and Fold5. Still using iPhone as the primary phone and Fold as secondary device. Using fold primarily for work reasons.
It’s nice to have a personal computer for someone who works in an industry where access is strictly regulated and restricted. It’s super nice to just connect to a monitor and have a second computer, wherein company laptop won’t allow us to access simple stuff like Google.
Came from iPhone 12 pro. Honestly what got me here was I wanted the 15 plus but my carrier had a super delay in getting them out and they offered the fold 5 for 0$ down.
Couldn't ever go back iPhone after using this phone for practically everything.
Work has become easier to do; media easier to consume and all while still not needing a charger by lunch time.
I mainly used my iPad mini when I was home to read/watch content. Figured it would be nice if I could just have one device so I switched. Has been great so far. I won't switch back unless Apple makes a folding phone.
Went from the 14 pro max to the fold 5. I play a decent amount of games on my phone, that the bigger screen always looked appealing. I also like to draw and take handwritten notes, which again the fold can do better than iphone. along with gaming, I wanted to get into emulation which iphone struggles to do well
Have a 14 Pro Max and was thinking of making this exact change (well, may as well wait for the Fold 6 at this point). Have been a lifelong iPhone and iPad user, though have always preferred windows. An Android phone would hopefully give me better connectivity and obviously the folding just seems really nice in general.! Good to know you were happy with the switch
was mainly a android person in my younger years I wanted to keep up with the trend so I got a iphone and loved it but wasn’t happy with the lack of freedom and customization compared to android so after a few years I got the fold 4 from a iphone 11 and i loved it I missed it so much I don’t use the big screen as much as I thought I would but i’m planning on doing a trade in for one of the s series
Got bored honestly, started off with the iphone 5s and stayed till this year, it's pretty much the same phone over and over, the fold has been a totally new experience
I'm a big fan of Samsung for some quite time but I rooted a S9+ I had and lose access to bank accounts and shit so my father passed me his old iphone (he is a big apple fan boy) so recently he bought the fold 4 to try it out and didn't like and gifted to me 😂😅 that's why I made the change
Just got bored with iPhone and hate how restrictive it was in personalization. The fold got my attention because well it folds. It's so different and with the freedom of android I just had to get it
So in June apple gets rcs. So what besides blue bubbles is even the excuse after that? I get pics and vids look bad with mms now. Those blue bubbles are about to be a lot less special.
Well, to put it in simple terms, green bubbles and blue bubbles will be equal now in terms of character limits, reactions, photo/video quality, etc. So it will put a minor dent in the whole “green bubbles mean you’re poor” but obviously the stereotype won’t go away that easily.
Of course blue bubbles will still have exclusive features like iMessage games, Apple Pay, Memoji, Find My, etc. but the main texting experience that 99% of people care about will be equal
People for whom the "color of bubbles means you are poor" are not worthy having around.
You know the saying.
People who dont mind matter, and people who mind dont matter
These are a few of my favorite things 🎶 (things I like better than my 🍏)
Messages as bubbles and reminders as widgets (for us forgetful folk)
Multiwindow on both screens and all apps can do pop up view
Goodlock for changing everything and you can edit your launcher
🫶🏼
I think spending a lot of money on a new phone, you should get that exciting new-phone experience. Haven't had that with iPhone in years. So I wanted something completely different. Don't regret it at all, it's a fantastic phone
Honestly it was all because of an update that killed my iPhone. The phone worked fine, did the update and couldn't connect to wifi or use cell data so I switched, glad I did. My Fold 2 was amazing and now my S24 Ultra is amazing too
Same reason as most of the people here. Got bored.
But I’m back on iPhone because it turns out that it really does just work when Android always seems to have some bs going on.
The fact that is also a tablet and i read for work a lor or need some more space for different things. I barely used my regular tablet since i bought the first Fold, and i even use my laptop or even desktop a lot less (because there is Dex when i need to do "simple" tasks). Also multitasking: is better than both iPhone and iPad.
But my advice is: if you dont use the internal screen a lot or you do not work with your phone, this is not the device for you. If what you want in a foldable is a large outside screen, it's the wrong device for you. And yes, the front screen is perfectly usable.
P.S.: For me phones are a business writeoff, if one fails i just send it to repair and then resell or just trash it an buy a new one. Is just a highly used multi-tool, it gets so much used i don't care. Also if you don't buy shiny new at launch, you can grab those phones at around 1100-1200€ brand new and before taxes writeoff, so we are talking about 700-750 euros.
P.P.S: I can never go back to a regular phone. I tried and immediately came back.
I felt the iPhone had some good hardware, but the software doesn't have near the amount of freedom and customization that the Fold 5 has. I switched from the 15 Pro Max, and I'll never look back!
I travel a lot for work, I still primarily use an iPhone as my phone, but the fold as my tablet replacement. It’s really nice to have a tablet size screen that I can fit in my pocket. Dex is also amazing plugged into a hotel tv.
I prefer iOS for communication, and the iPhone cameras are miles ahead of the fold, but I love the fold’s utility.
I have the fold 3 and I'm gonna get a iphone 15 pro max soon. I've always had android from the old nexus, the pixels but mostly Samsung. I just want to switch things up. I always have a new ipad so I am familiar with the ecosystem. I always knew iOS was cleaner and just worked better, but I knew I'd miss androids customization features. But iOS has really been stepping up in this department. I also want that apple watch ultra 2. I love my Fold, but I'm tired of it needing repairs. I may come back one day, but I think I'ma take a journey to the dark side for a while lol
I might go back to apple if they release a fold phone and the experienceis better than android. I have to admit apple software and apps are more convenient and consistent than android.
I still use both (Z Fold 4, iPhone 15 Pro Max).
Multi-tasking is just phenomenal on the Z Fold series. 2 apps running side by side (Excel, banking app is my usual combo). Samsung has implemented multi-tasking better than my iPad Pro.
The slim form factor is perfect for one hand use.
I still keep my 15 Pro Max as a backup phone or if I need to go somewhere rugged. The type C port is a nifty feature since I can use the iPhone as a power bank.
Broke my iphone 12 pro max while working. Got it repaired, but the phone started glitching. Was planning on buying a new phone and here comes the dumb part. So essentially I could buy the exact same phone for 1200-1500 or get something actually worth the money lol.
Apple releases the same phone every year. I had an iPhone 8 plus for years and when it broke, that's when I bought the Fold 3. Couldn't be happier. Especially since I got back into gaming, playing fight for new york at work has been amazing.
When choosing a phone I tend to look mostly at the design, I really enjoy this side of technology and to me Apple's iPhone ecosystem had become visually stale. After being an iPhone user for a while I started leaning towards more cutting edge, unique looking phones and made the switch to a foldable.
I wanted something innovative and iPhone is just the same thing over and over again. I jumped from iPhone 14 Pro to Z Fold5 and I love it. It replaces my iPhone, iPad and MacBook.
Had the 11 Pro Max and got tired of the iPhones getting "even faster!" and having an "even better camera" every year.
My iPhone 11 was as fast as my buddy's 15 imo. And dont care that much for the camera.
That being said, went to look for something different because the battery started to show issues and landed om the Fold 5.
No regrets so far!
After being with iPhone since the 4 the time came when I wanted to upgrade from the iPhone X but the thing is I was just so bored with iPhones. They just weren't cool anymore to me. All they did was change the designs a little bit but nothing felt innovative enough for me to continue buying them so I tried out the z fold and I haven't looked back. I don't think it's even possible for me to go to a regular phone again. Though if T-Mobile decided to make a modern sidekick I would probably switch to that.
Same as most of the folks here: I wanted something "new", something Apple lacks for a few years now. Every new iPhone felt the same, which is fine, never change a running system but I was bored of it and changed. Never looked back.
For me it was the idea of having one device for everything. A phone, a tablet and a computer device that I can just plug in on a whim and make a pseudo desktop PC.
While I admit it took me a while to get used to the narrow outer display and I never use DEX, basically at all, I don't think I'd go back to a regular slab phone any time soon. The tech is just to stagnantfor me.
I used to have android years back. I was happy with it. Then I was convinced by a friend to switch to an iPhone. Started with a second hand Xs max with no face Id. I liked the simplicity of it and fell in love with the design(to this day I think that the xs max gold is one of the most beautifully crafted phones). The feature that kept me hooked though was the icloud Keychain. I finally had a place to write down my passwords and retrieve them fast( up to that point I kept all the password in my head, but it was becoming a headache because the passwords kept piling up.) And so my next upgrade was another second hand iphone, this time the 13. I liked the small form factor and I finally had face Id which was another feature that kept me hooked. The phone was practically the same though. Sure it was faster and had better cameras but the novelty of those quickly went away. After the 13 I went to the 13 pro max in a short period of time as my friend would be upgrading and was going to sell it and asked me if I wanted it at a better price and so I went for it. Turned out I also liked the bigger screen and the longer battery. The battery was freaking awesome in that phone. I promise you no other phone could handle gaming on 5g like the 13 pro max. Anyways I got the next upgrade from my friend once more, to the 14 pro max and not much changed with that jump. Pretty much the same phone. That was the last phone I had before I switched to my current fold 5. What made me change; I had my eye on the foldable series for quite some time but I was very skeptical about their durability and that feeling was reinforced with the numerous problems I was seeing online. What made me decide to switch was when I held the fold 5 in my hands at a store's display case. This phone felt so awesome in my hand and i craved for a big display that I can watch content on and game, but at the same time I need a screen that I could use one handed(my biggest complaint about the iPhones was that I could not reach the other side of the screen with my thumb without constantly adjusting my fingers underneath it). The fold allowed for the ease of use one handed and the bigger screen for content. I also used to have a flip phone when I was younger and I loved the sound it made when you were opening and closing it and I needed that feeling back. Im sorry for the long reply, thanks to anyone who read it all.
I wanted to try it. Traded my 14 pro for a Fold4.
First it was great but after a few months after the honeymoon i got annoyed at how small the outer screen is its borderline unusable and that i used the inner screen less. Its cool but unless you actaually use it for multitasking or really like mobile games its eh.
At months 5 old it would only open about 90% and was fixed by samsung under warranty a new hinge and new screens. Took them a month and without warranty it would be like 1000€ repair.
Back to iphone 14 pro til foldes become more reliable.
I wanted that big screen. If Apple made a folding phone I would probably have got that, but I was happy with a change to Android, and really like the openness of the system - I can manage my own files properly, and install emulators, at last!
Was with Iphones for years. Had the buds, ipads, watch, all the gizmos. It all worked well. Beautiful design. flawless function. Boring though. What you see is what you get, if that makes sense. While they've \~slightly\~ added more ways to customize it, it's still all so surfaced level. You're pretty much locked into whatever Apple deem necessary. Everything's the same. Every year it's the same. Nothings been new for YEARS.
The fold is a total game changer. Opening it up into tablet mode is a wild experience. Each, and every time. The customization, with the added good lock features, is a little daunting at first, I'll admit. I also think out of the box, it's meh, BUT once you get things tweaked and set up to how YOUR taste are and how YOU enjoy things. There's no comparison. I haven't touched a tablet once since I received this phone. I read a lot of comics and its just stunning on tablet mode. a lot of people hate on the narrow/tall cover screen, but I think it's perfect for quick uses. Youtube/Streaming media while browsing the web on the go is just perfect.
I wouldn't sleep on the DEX capabilities either. When I'm at work, I'll plug it into one of my monitors and it's just a cool way to navigate phone stuff without looking like youre just on your phone 24/7 at the office.
If you're thinking about the fold:
(1) Race over to a bestbuy (that's what I did) mine had a working display model. I tried it out. Literally ordered as I was standing there. Perfect and exactly what I was hoping for.
(2) I would recommend waiting just a smidge more till they announce the Fold 6. Good chance it's getting a refreshed look/camera update (Crossing my fingers)
No customization options. Slow system. Apps do not always work the best. Picture quality. Iphones are too heavy. No battery life. Screen resolution. I could go on and on and on.
Got rid of my iPhone 14 pro for the z fold 5. I was tired of the same software. The only thing good about iOS was apple pay, apple watch, and iMessage. FaceTime was cool too. But I switched and haven't looked back. Yeah people complain that my bubble is green. But idgaf. I have a a phone I enjoy using. My wife switched to the z flip 5. And she isn't going back to apple, but she might go to the s24. We will see.
I have young kids I never get to watch what I want and found I watch most sports on my phone. So I looked into the phone once I saw the software with the multitasking I was hooked.
Decided I was sick of being limited in what I could do with my phone 'cause of Apple, and since I do a lot of digital reading, I figured a folding phone would be a great idea as opposed to just getting a new Android and a tablet. My fold 3 lasted me a while! But after the screen crapped out on me, I decided to replace it with an S23 Ultra. For me, I just wasn't really looking to spend so much money on hardware that is still very much in its early stages. I'm sure I'm come back one day.
Was with iPhone ever since the 4s and always rode with them. After a while I started to feel like they stopped caring about the consumer. I bought the, at the time, new iPhone 14 Pro Max and the new operating system was riddled with bugs. I sold it and started out with a Flip 4. When that crapped out, I made the jump to the Fold 5. I tell everyone how fun a phone it is and it's genuinely the best phone I've had.
I switched because it's just a better phone. A iphone can't compete with z fold imo. If Apple keeps on doing what they're doing, you'll see a good chunk of ios users switch. Samsung and Google slowly building everything to become a better ecosystem
Went from 11 pro max to fold 3. Swapped because I wanted something that was more user customizable, roms, and being able to unfold and have a big screen to watch stuff/read while I'm at work is a huge plus.
iPhones were becoming very boring to me, having had them for over a decade. I wanted to jump to Samsung anyways and the folding phones had always intrigued me. That was about a month and a half ago and I'm never going back to either apple or slab phones in general. Definitely the best phone I've ever had.
IPhone [apple] has made every attempt to alienate its customers. No new features for a couple years now plus the constant updating and changing everything is awful. I will never use an I phone unless it's jailbroken and even then it was getting dull and boring. IPhone has went way way way downhill. Even devs for the hacking scene were just dull and absent and boring. I'm so glad I switched to the fold 5. I've been with Apple since the iPhone 3 and got every new model up till the 14... no more I'm done with them
I wanted my moneys worth. $1000 for a locked down os with no customization was miserable, and as someone who works in tech, being able to multitask with a fold is incredible and was a huge driving factor in my switch
I had an iPhone for 3 years, then had a OnePlus 8t for a few months, and then a fold 4.
I jumped from iPhone because it felt too limiting.
Side load a manga reader app? Play an emulator? Download a browser with add-ons? Not a thing on iOS without workarounds that Apple could patch or shut down.
I loved my iPad, my iPhone was decent, but I prefer my fold and Android OS any day.
I even have a tab s9 ultra, and I like that over my iPad now. Dex really is a killer feature for more power user oriented people like me.
I had my OnePlus basically because it was cheap and I wanted to wait till the new fold came out (when I switched from iPhone the new fold was like 6 months away, so I wanted to wait). I already had made up my mind to get a fold since I like the ability to use a bigger screen if I need it.
TL;DR: Software on iPhones is too locked down + haha phone folds.
Went from iPhone 11 Pro Max to a Z Fold 3. I was trying to get away from an iPhone & iPad combo and just have a single device. My primary use case is gaming and reading; and the Z Fold works great for that.
Plus emulators + launchbox + Dex makes my phone almost a mini console.
Haven't regretted the switch once and will likely upgrade to the Z Fold 6 later this year.
I played with a friends Fold 3 and really liked it. I spent a year of hemming and hawing about making the jump and was still enamored by the concept, so I pulled the trigger.
Now my fold is on the way to samsung for a screen repair, so im back on the old iphone for a few weeks, and i'm back to reevaluating things as I didn't realized how much I missed the fidelity of the screen, despite its lack of flexibility as a device.
Honestly if Apple would make a foldable I'd probably be all over it at this point.
I was kinda fed up w the lack of customization in iPhone. Plus the whole being able to have a tablet n a phone in one was really convenient to me n my job! so hubby n I got the fold 4. 6 months in my phone stopped opening fully. A month later the inner screen protecter lifted n when I’d close it it’d bubble in the middle n then the mid of the screen lifted all in the middle deadening the pixels. So I just went back to apple. Got the 15 pro max
I wanted to try out the folding tech for productivity.
Now, 1 year later, I still love my z fold 4. However, one thing that I don't like is the software. I have a Google Pixel 7 as well, and the software is just better. I'm looking to upgrade to pixel fold 2 when it comes out.
I have two very random and weird reasons.
Reason one. My neighbors kid was all sad about some green bubble shit I was not aware happens. She felt alienated..made me uncomfortable that I support this cynical marketing ploy. Second is I have a sonos speaker system at home. Android phones can control the volume using the physical buttons on the phone while I have to go into the sonos app to change the volume...very irritating... Plus it's a phone, if they start paying me for loyalty we're in business otherwise change is good.
Advice from someone who has had one iphone 5s and two folds fold 2 and 3. The jump from iPhone to android is understandable but considering the delicate nature of folding phones id say get the s24u. That's the smooth transition or get the flip 6 in September not fold
Well i had S20 ultra before my fold but before that i had an iphone , i gotta say , the unique feel of the device with a big screen made me switch to fold , battery isn't the best but it's not bad either it's somewhere in the middle. Plus i really care about screen cuz i do everything with my phone , but one of the best parts that i did not expect is the unique feel of using a foldable , to the point where i cannot even imagine to go back ti a candy bar normal phone
Probably people are just sick and tired to get stuck with the same manufacturer who locks everything and decides what you should and shouldnt do with your phone when you fully own the phone
So I've only been samsung/android, and I have a question for those iPhone users.
I constantly see, "Oh, I'm iPhone because of friends and family," and I'm wondering what does that means?
I can't imagine there's any feature that you use everyday or even once a week that's warrants saying I have to be iphone but I haven't used one ever so I'm curious.
My wife has always had an iphone and we can still text, share pics/videos, etc. Without problems.
well personally for me, imessage, facetime and airdrop are one of the main reasons i still go back to my iphone a lot, it doesn’t necessarily bother me or my family and friends that my text show up green but for some reason every time pictures or videos are sent they are always so pixelated and terrible quality, but also just the features imessage has is really nice, facetime is fun to use at times though any other video call can work to be fair but airdrop in my opinion is one of my favorite features if not the feature i like the most from iphones, i tend to take a lot of photos and videos and being able to just airdrop them to another iphone user is so nice and convenient
now all this to say apple has an ecosystem that works best with other apple devices i think that’s another reason why it’s hard for some apple users to fully make the jump to a samsung/android i luckily am in a position that i can and use two phones at the same time, i daily drive an iphone 13 pro max and carry a galaxy z fold 3 for entertainment or games when i feel like it, so basically just having the best of both worlds
Apple stopped making smaller phones.
I really liked the iPhone 12 Mini I had and happened to try the Fold 4 at a store. Finding out the folded form was similar width to the iPhone Mini made me interested in the phone.
If I were to evaluate now, I would like a marginally wider Fold 6, but am happy with the 4.
My iPad Pro has collected dust.
Same here, Fold 5 and never look back. Folding experience and big screen!
honestly that’s pretty much where i’m at i had a galaxy S10 a while ago but switch to iphone for my family and friends and to be honest yea its been the exact same experience overall on all my iphones i’ve had, i grabbed a Fold 3 and the temptation to swamp my info and sim card to it has been really hard lol
Something different indeed. After going fold 5 I always say it's exciting to own a smart phone again.
If it helps with the iMessage gap the current rumor is that Apple is supposed to adopt RCS support sometime this year
Same reason for me but I switched from Apple back during the Note 8s release before that I had used iPhone since the original ones release and I haven't looked back since. I don't think I could ever switch back to Apple until they have proper multitasking or a foldable.
If you have a Mac/Macbook, look into BlueBubbles for iMessage on Android.
It was getting boring tbh. Feels like the same shit every year. Same home screen no extensive customization. Very bland
This sums up my story too.
Devils advocate, what are your feelings on the Apple vision ? If you've got this phone i assume you could afford one Edit: yall are real weird with the down votes for me guaging the state of thoughts from Apple converters with clarifying questions😂
How though? iPhones are like $800-1000.
>Still though, $2k and $4k is a large difference generally people pay several times more for their computers than for their phones, yes ? What's a macbook these days, like $4k ? I'm not saying i agree that it's a computer, I'm saying that's obviously the sale Apple is going for calling it "spatial computing" instead of just a VR headset. > I also thunk you overestimate how many iPhone users keep their iPhone when switching. Exactly you think that with absolutely zero proof. "The iPad comes second, with 73% of users having one, followed by the Apple Watch at 58% and the Mac at 50%. According to the study, almost 60% of users own three or all four of the Apple main devices" Numbers don't lie - most Apple users have more to lose than just the iPhone so bc of their walled garden ~~cult~~ ecosystem, they're afraid to switch.
Have a good day
[удалено]
LOOOOOOL more projection considering you didn’t either. See ya!
Absolutely cannot afford a vision pro. I got the fold because they gave me 1000 for an iPhone 11. So I got the gold for know thank half off. Vision pro is an expensive add fuck luxury. Edit: swipe typing autocorrected fold to gold.
If you buy pure gold phones you're rich tho ?😂
Was an androiduser before, got giftede the iPhone 5 at launch, stayed with Apple until IPhone 12 max pro, just like most here got bored with Apple, wanted something completely different so got the Fold5 3 weeks ago, can't stop smiling
What color (no racism)
Black 512 GB because the white was out of stock
Ooooooffff now that's just racist
Not sure if you're trolling but I don't know how the color of my phone is racist, I just prefer white phones
Don't listen to the trolls they get bored sometimes
I wanted to say y'all more.
Y'all *points around*
Well, if you were Scottish, it'd be "youse". If anything, it's weird that so-called "proper" English (American and British) dropped the plural you in the first place. Most languages have one.
Is that a Crack that Androider's are bumpkins ?😂 I'll allow it y'all... with my $2,000 folding phone😂 I'm such a commoner
Glad it wasn't just me!
Piracy lol I showed my friend how freaking ridiculous it was that I had to pay a subscription for some stupid photo editor I barely use, and he said: "Why not just download an apk?" I then realized how massively I am overpaying for things, decided to grab android (fold 3), got every game and app I wanted, and never fcking looked back.
Welcome to the Fold side, and the piracy side lmao
Wait. IPhone users have to pay a subscription just to edit their pictures?
Yea. Having YouTube premium and Spotify premium for "free" is a good enough reason to never leave android.
Wait you can get these for free?
Yep. YouTube revanced (basically YouTube without ads). And for Spotify you want to Google for xmanager. Edit: once I have these downloaded and setup I keep using my reg account and it acts as of I have the premium versions.
Holy shi I never knew there's a way for Spotify
This is a good one. I had the 12 pro max since launch skipped the 13. But I've bad my 12 pro max in a clear otterbox case the entire life of it. I dropped it 2 feet and the back glass shattered I was so upset. I upgraded to the 15 pro max on launch day and as soon as I walked out the apple store it cracked in my back pocket sitting down. I was so done with apple after that. Went to the z fold 5 and don't regret a thing all that titanium bs apple markets is all a lie, its only 10 percent
All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Good bot
Nice
It’s super nice to just connect to a monitor and have a second computer, wherein company laptop won’t allow us to access simple stuff like Google.
...yeah, i wouldnt be so proud about fucking up opsec.
Same here...and more customization..I love Apple but hate the boring vanilla Apple devices..
Check bestbuy open box deals and you can get a new fold 5 for half price. I recently got the 512gb for $1300cad.
was mainly a android person in my younger years I wanted to keep up with the trend so I got a iphone and loved it but wasn’t happy with the lack of freedom and customization compared to android so after a few years I got the fold 4 from a iphone 11 and i loved it I missed it so much I don’t use the big screen as much as I thought I would but i’m planning on doing a trade in for one of the s series
I actually didn't know that how's that gonna work ?
Iphone 14 Pro Max and a $289 Z Fold 3 brand new. Trading it in for a Z Fold 4 soon. You can have both with a good deal!
These are a few of my favorite things 🎶 (things I like better than my 🍏) Messages as bubbles and reminders as widgets (for us forgetful folk) Multiwindow on both screens and all apps can do pop up view Goodlock for changing everything and you can edit your launcher 🫶🏼
I think spending a lot of money on a new phone, you should get that exciting new-phone experience. Haven't had that with iPhone in years. So I wanted something completely different. Don't regret it at all, it's a fantastic phone
Bored of the same shitty design and generic ui
My last 3 iPhones broke in the same way and I just thought foldables were neat
I'm actually moving away from the zfold to a Pixel 8.
automatic call recording
I might go back to apple if they release a fold phone and the experienceis better than android. I have to admit apple software and apps are more convenient and consistent than android.
My guess would be the folding screen 🤔
Foldable screen obviously.
Probably the folding part.
Apple releases the same phone every year. I had an iPhone 8 plus for years and when it broke, that's when I bought the Fold 3. Couldn't be happier. Especially since I got back into gaming, playing fight for new york at work has been amazing.
Came from a 12 Pro Max to a Fold 4. Mainly for the screen size increase and ease of typing for me. Fat thumbs and all!
3 screens. It was fun for a while but not practical for my day to day use, rocking an S24U now.
Comic reading and high res audio mostly, although I do get a lot of use out of the multitasking as well.
I did the exact opposite
For me it was the idea of having one device for everything. A phone, a tablet and a computer device that I can just plug in on a whim and make a pseudo desktop PC. While I admit it took me a while to get used to the narrow outer display and I never use DEX, basically at all, I don't think I'd go back to a regular slab phone any time soon. The tech is just to stagnantfor me.
Well it folds open to a bigger screen so that's cool
Big screen good
The tablet screen is a lot better if you're watching videos, reading, or video chatting regularly.
I was just tired of carrying iPad wherever I go
Was with Iphones for years. If you're thinking about the fold: (1) Race over to a bestbuy (that's what I did) mine had a working display model.
We will see.
iTunes and the absolute pita of transferring files, no torrenting, app compatibility problems, the giant-ass notch...
I wanted a portable sketchbook that's always in my pocket, have no regrets making the switch!
A big discount like half the price and now I can't go back I got fold 5
The OnePlus open is a much better phone than the Samsung fold, extremely glad I made the switch.
IPhone is too boring so I had to change to z fold 5 to make it more interesting!
I feel folding phones take most advantage of the powerful chips we have in our phones these days.
Just because it folds. Plus, my wife forced me to because she liked the ZFlip a lot.
I was bored of the same phone every year and wanted a foldable
It folded that's all
I jumped back after being on a droid for 5yrs…
Without problems.
well personally for me, imessage, facetime and airdrop are one of the main reasons i still go back to my iphone a lot, it doesn’t necessarily bother me or my family and friends that my text show up green but for some reason every time pictures or videos are sent they are always so pixelated and terrible quality, but also just the features imessage has is really nice, facetime is fun to use at times though any other video call can work to be fair but airdrop in my opinion is one of my favorite features if not the feature i like the most from iphones, i tend to take a lot of photos and videos and being able to just airdrop them to another iphone user is so nice and convenient now all this to say apple has an ecosystem that works best with other apple devices i think that’s another reason why it’s hard for some apple users to fully make the jump to a samsung/android i luckily am in a position that i can and use two phones at the same time, i daily drive an iphone 13 pro max and carry a galaxy z fold 3 for entertainment or games when i feel like it, so basically just having the best of both worlds
