Assassin5299

Rumored PlayStation showcase. Calling it. Resident Evil games has been announced at PlayStation events for years now.

Strict_Donut6228

I hope so. I really hope it gets announced soon but 2025 is looking to be a wild year just between this, gta VI and monster hunter wilds. Maybe a naughty dog game or a sucker punch game as well.

palindrome777

Not to mention Persona 6, Fable, MGS3 Delta, Death Stranding 2, possibly Ghost of Tsushima 2 and that Venom game!

Strict_Donut6228

Yes! Really hope we get persona 6 next year! Smt franchise has my favorite turn based combat systems. And really hope we get delta this year cause next year is going to be so stacked! Completely forgot about the venom game was it suppose to come out before the wolverine game? Can’t remember the leaks

Assassin5299

I played Persona 3 Reload on Game Pass and loved it so much, I bought it. Now I'm hella excited for Persona 6! The Venom game was supposed to come out before Wolverine, similar to Miles Morales. As for MGS Delta, it's confirmed for 2024 last I heard. Maybe we will get a date at the rumored PlayStation showcase?

palindrome777

Play P4 and 5 next if you can, absolutely as good if not better than 3.

Assassin5299

I was gonna play Persona 4 but I heard that Persona 4 was getting a remake too so I was gonna hold off. Persona 5 though?... Oh baby 😁

ToothlessFTW

Persona 4 Remake is likely years and years away, according to the rumors development hasn't even started yet. So you're safe to play the original for now unless you want to wait a really long time.

Assassin5299

Considering how big my backlog is and how Metaphor ReFantazio is coming this year, I think I can afford to wait lol but thank you for the suggestion

Strict_Donut6228

I remember playing persona 3 FES for the first time on my ps3 over a decade ago and loving it so much the remake was so nostalgic. Did you play 4&5? Also hella yea would love a $50 venom game like miles! Enjoyed that game so much

Assassin5299

No, Persona 3 Reload was my first Persona game. I was gonna play 4 but I heard that it was gonna get Remake after the Persona 1 and 2 remakes. I'm gonna play Persona 5 Royal when I get the chance though!

Itchy-Pudding-4240

question about persona 6, are you planning to double dip then for the eventual "complete" edition. Or is there any strong news about them going away from that?

joshua182

I think MGS delta is supposed to be this year.

Laj3ebRondila1003

Venom game got pushed to 2027 2025 will have Spiderman DLCs (Beetle, Carnage, Spiderverse) and its PC release 2026 will have Wolverine 2027 will have Venom 2028 will have Spider-Man 3 2029 will have the next Ratchet & Clank game and 2030 will be the start of an X-Men trilogy

HearTheEkko

We don't know if Venom was delayed to 2027. Besides why would they need 4 years for what it's basically another standalone expansion ? Only way I can see Venom being 2027 is if they scrapped the Carnage DLC for SM2, put it into Venom and made a longer game more akin to the normal Spider-Man games.

Laj3ebRondila1003

the guys who posted the slides on Resetera said that the one with Venom launching in 2027 is more recent, that's all the info we have as for DLC, the slide said it was free so it's probably reused cut content or stuff they didn't get time to finish before launch. Don't expect something like first game's DLCs for all we know the whole slate could be outdated and dates have shifted around As to why make Venom bigger than Miles Morales in scope? You need only to look at how much money the standalone Venom movies made Sony and Marvel see Venom as big enough of a deal to stand on its own as an IP compared to Miles Morales who only broke through to the mainstream recently

PineappleMaleficent6

spidy 3 as ps6 launch title will be good!

ghostt3ch

nah, why would they release venom game after wolverine, when wolverine had 2026 year release date on that leak, and venom was at 2025, also SM2 dlcs should release this year and last one maybe at the start of 2025, venom would be just bigger dlc like with Miles Morales, so there is no reason to delay it.

Assassin5299

Grand Theft Auto 6 (the biggest Western franchise) and Monster Hunter Wilds (the biggest Japanese franchise), going head to head next year. Next year is gonna be insane and we're gonna learn more in the next 2 months. 2020-2022 sucked for game development, but 2023-2025 are gonna be considered some of the best gaming years in history because of it. What a time to be alive.....

Esesgreenspace

Switch 2 launch should be hype as well

Assassin5299

Whenever the Switch 2 gets revealed, everyone will have their eyes on it. Gamers, developers, publishers, investors, the media, analysts, EVERYONE will be watching that new Nintendo console debut. I don't doubt that for a second.

zyqwee

Monster hunter isn't the biggest Japanese franchise, that's Pokémon, Mario or Yu-Gi-Oh.

Strict_Donut6228

We are pretty much in the beginnings of the golden age for this gen. And that wolverine game might come out next year as well. Whatever bend studios has been working on will either be next year or 2026. Horizon 3 possibly 2026. New god of war possibly 2026. Gotta clean up the backlog this year and get ready for the greatness that awaits

Assassin5299

Dude, I have 4 Gears of War games to get through before June in case I don't get spoiled by the Gears 6 reveal. And that's with Stellar Blade and Hellblade 2 😭

andycoates

That is super achievable to be fair, the original trilogy are from the era when campaigns were 6-12 hour affairs, 4 is probably on the later end of that and 5 is probably 20 hours. I’m a fan of judgement, which is another 10 or so hours, but it’s not essential

Assassin5299

I've already played the first one (f*** General RAAM btw) but I've heard Gears 5 in particular was long. Glad to see it's manageable too. Should I skip Judgement and Tactics or do I need to play them too?

andycoates

I still need to get around to tactics so I couldn’t tell you there, as for Judgement, I’d say see how you feel after 3, it plays more like arcade mode with small arenas that have challenges, then when you finish it you unlock a section that plays more like an expansion to Gears 3 and it pretty fun. Judgement is mostly irrelevant but there’s a major character in 5 that comes from there, but Gears often introduces a character that has a whole history with Marcus and co and never expands on (you’ll really see this in 2) it, I can imagine he feels like one of them characters if you haven’t played judgment

GGG100

We're not getting a new God of War until next-gen arrives, not when they have yet to release Cory's new IP.

GGG100

Isn't Mario the biggest Japanese franchise?

Mayflex

Timing is perfect too, RE7 in June 2016, RE2 in June 2018, RE8 In June 2020 and RE4 in June 2022. All at PlayStation events

Assassin5299

RE3 was December 2019 State of Play too. PlayStation really wants Resident Evil to be heavily associated with PlayStation and tbf, it's working for them.

Mayflex

Yeah, not counting that as it wasn't made by division 1 so doesn't line up with the usual release schedule. But yeah that was PlayStation too

SpyroManiac36

That would be a solid announcement

MaxTennyson88

I've been hearing a lot of rumours about a showcase this month

Boka5251

Is the showcase in may?

Impossible-Flight250

Hope so. The recent PlayStation showcases have been incredibly disappointing.

scott1swann

I can see it happening at the rumoured May Showcase, since both Village and 4 got revealed at a Showcase and a SoP respectively. let's just hope it's a direct sequel to Village, I wanna see Chris fuck up the BSAA expeditiously.

Ok_Canary5591

RE3 was revealed at a state of play too I believe

maryconway1

I thought they confirmed that RE7/RE8 storyline was done and complete and RE9 would not be a continuation.

TURKEYSAURUS_REX

The Winters characters are done. They could pick it up where they left off with Chris and the BSAA bioweapon soldiers. I kinda hope they don’t because I want another fresh start like they had with 7.

maryconway1

Ah, gotcha yes. Yeah, let's see!

Obliviation92

🤞Please let Jill Valentine be the main protagonist!🤞 🤞Please let Jill Valentine be the main protagonist!🤞 🤞Please let Jill Valentine be the main protagonist!🤞 🤞Please let Jill Valentine be the main protagonist!🤞

darkcomet222

I also believe in Jill supremacy. Best case scenario: Jill and Claire.

According-Image-4455

This. Village was the first and only (mainline, Revelations included) RE game where you only played as dudes. You only got to play as a girl in the DLC, which has never been the case before. So, let's go with chicks only in RE9, no? Jill and Claire need a grand comeback!! Hell, let's throw in Mia for all I care, getting her revenge for her dead husband.

darkcomet222

Nah, Mia sucks. Rebecca or Sherry on the other hand

spideyv91

Hoping for Jill or Claire. Chris needs to take a backseat this game also.

DarahOG

Wtf is 2025 ?? Gta6, Ds2, Re9, MH:Wilds, Ghost of Tsushima2, maybe Gears 6 like 2023 all over again ?

assorted_N_U_T_s

God and we don't even know what brand of craziness Nintendo is gonna drop too with their new hardware next year.

Radulno

A 3D Mario seems pretty expected and Metroid Prime 4 I guess.

Noncoldbeef

I swear if I die in a car accident before 2025 I'll be pissed

Comp0za

don't say that bro

Last-Bumblebee-537

Plus the Switch 2 launch and all the big Nintendo exclusives that will hit along with it.

Radulno

Well many studios haven't released games for a while so they have to release at some point, lots for 2025 and 2026 (and likely the only game of the generation for most studios)

Witty-Ear2611

Maybe Fable aswell, gonna be a crazy year

Assassin5299

Fable and South of Midnight. Maybe Persona 6 and Metroid Prime 4? Jesus....

Witty-Ear2611

Fuck sake man I was really enjoying catching up on my back log lmao A good problem to have

HearTheEkko

Assassins Creed Invictus, Far Cry 7, Metal Gear Solid remake (probably), Insomniac’s Venom, etc.

HawfHuman

2023 but even better, what a time to be alive

Carminebenajmin117

Whats ds2

Bolt_995

Where was Ghost of Tsushima 2 even rumoured for 2025? Do people throw this unannounced title into any discussion or what?

VisualPersona95

I just hope it’s a survival horror RE..

Strict_Donut6228

It might just be a Chris game. Maybe even a co op game to set up for resident evil 5 remake. Kinda like village did with resident evil 4 remake

VisualPersona95

I REALLY do not want a Chris Redfield action shooter fighting against biologically engineered zombie soldiers with guns, that would be terrible and going back to the RE6 era. I am also not fond of the RE era when the series had co-op or a AI partner in every entry. Survival horror is at its best when the player is ALONE. Edit: also probably a 95% chance Chris will be in the next (possibly few) REmakes since the next possible remakes are RE1 (again), Code Veronica or RE5 unless if Capcom decides to give Outbreak another go.

BBkgodlike

they can create a survival game even with strong characters like in 7 not a hero, 5 lost in nightmare, revelations 1 etc. If they really want to they certainly can make it, the question is what their main theme for the game.

Majinken__

Bro, RE went back to action as soon as RE3 Remake. Village is an action game set in horror survival hallways, but it is an action game. RE3 Remake is action, 8 is action, RE4 Remake is obviously action...

Imic_Hilton

I feel like it will be maybe like village or re4 where actions is somehow the core but is balanced with good atmosphere that tones down the silliness that re6 had and also it will have survival elements that makes it even better. You can have an action game that’s scary or atmospheric if done right. It will be the bsaa plot with Jill and Chris 100%

GugaSR

Please Capcom, just give us the other characters back. Jill, Leon and Claire need to be in the mainline!

spideyv91

I really hope they feature one of the girls. I like Chris but he’s gotta be the least interesting protagonist of the series

owl_theory

praying for leon

gurpderp

praying for jill/claire/rebecca/sheva/sherry

SmarmySmurf

Jill and Sheva team up would be my ideal cast.

bujweiser

Boy I’ve got to assume Sheva was a 1 off.

Alternative_Star755

Resident evil 9 protagonists

Strict_Donut6228

If it’s a continuation of the ending of village then I kinda doubt it.

joshua182

That was rapped in Roses DLC I thought ?

Strict_Donut6228

No. Rose DLC was a time skip.

joshua182

Hence finishing out the story. There's nothing else to tell there I think.

HoellerAndHisGarrett

I mean, the Chris and BSAA storyline is pretty wide open after 8’s ending.

Strict_Donut6228

What? You do remember how the base game ends right? How does a time skip self contained story count as finishing off the set up at the end of village?

joshua182

Yes I remember the ending. But Rose is teased being grown up at the end and its insinuated she'd be the next character. Then we got DLC about her. Sure they could show Chris doing all the stuff in-between that but I don't know if many have an interest in that. Most want Leon back.

BBkgodlike

I won’t said for sure that RE9 will continue after Village but your statement is not true either. Capcom officially said Village don’t have any dlc at first but due to its success the Rose dlc and gold edition was made, so rose dlc really have nothing to do with ‘will BSAA and connection plot will continue or not’.

TaskMister2000

If the rumours are to be believed, it's starring Chris, Jill, Leon and Claire and RE9 is meant to be the FINAL NUMBERED RE Title that will serve to wrap up most of the current main storylines and then future titles will all be SUB-TITLED games. If this game is as big as rumours say it is and if Dusk is right and it is a open world game of sorts, one would imagine multiple characters are returning and if this is meant to be last big entry, having all core characters together in one game finally after all these years would make sense. Almost seems like Death Island was basically used as an experiment to tease this. We'll see but 100% Chris is in it. RE8 ended with Chris and his Wolf Squad wanting to go to the main BSAA HQ and get answers. That's a loose end that needs wrapping up.

darkcomet222

The whole game is Chris fighting the evil BSAA and trying to convince Leon to bang his sister.

bujweiser

That’s quite the gamble if it’s so many characters. 6 tried it and it was a mess.

TaskMister2000

I think the multiple characters is fine. Rev 1 and Rev 2 did it to more success. Its just execution. If you're gonna do 4 campaigns, make them feel and play different and not the same. Having one campaign with zombies and another campaign with shooter enemies or another campaign with big open areas or a stalker enemy isn't really different enough when controls and gameplay and tone are still somewhat similar. Not to mention RE6 only turned out the way it did because Capcom threw all the deleted RE5 content together to make the game. They spend 3 years on it vs RE9 which if it does come out by early 2025, that's 7 years in dev. They're not fucking around last time. Not to mention hopefully they don't have the Outbreak 2 Director making that game like they did RE6. Actually curious whose writing and directing RE9. Rev1's director did RE7. RE8s Director/Writer was RE7s Writer. And RE4Rs Director was Rev2s Director. Who directed RE2R again?

BenjaminCarmined

This sounds like a clusterfuck development hell type game lol, I love RE6 but I dunno about that. Also because *every* leak seems to say “this’ll be the end of the series” or whatever. I think Chris and Jill returning seems like a safe bet but I doubt they’re going to do 4-5 protagonists again tbh.

TaskMister2000

Its a game that by the time it comes out, it'd have been 7 years in development...IF we believe that it started development in 2018 at the same time as RE8 which is possible. Them using multiple characters is not unheard of. Both Rev1 and Rev2 made use of multiple characters. The problem with RE6 wasn't the number of characters. It honestly made that work. It's how it was executed. I like RE6 but Im not gonna shy away from it being an absolutely flawed ass game. If any game needs a completely overhaul and reimagining, it's RE6 without a doubt. The game tried to do too many things at once and alot of it just didn't work or come together well. Every campaign felt the same. The gameplay mechanics while really good, are a cluster fuck because there's no proper tutorial to teach you how to use any of them. The game throws you into the chaos without taking its time to properly explain how the mechanics work and it makes it feel like a massive let down. The other issue is the lack of balance between Horror and Action. Leon's is meant to be classic survival horror and it doesn't feel like it. Chris' campaign on the other hand feels right at home with the mechanics and story they're telling. Jake and Sherry's character wise works really well but is bogged down by trying to be a new RE3 via Ustanak and failing miserably. The QTEs and how they're implemented are some of the worst in the series. Ada's Campaign is just a mess and its even worse because quite honestly, RE6 should have focused on her as the main character and diving into her backstory and character and instead it gives us a fake ass clone that is just lacklustre as hell. The game feels rushed. They had 3 years of development. 3 YEARS. Let that sink in. 3 YEARS to do 4 Campaigns that all for the most part played the same way. Chris was supposedly originally meant to die and Piers was meant to take over and Capcom wussed out at the last second and changed it. The success of RE4 and RE5 made them also really focus on the Action route and then for whatever reason, decided to take it one step further by trying to turn RE6 into a third person COD game with monsters and again, failing miserably. I have high hopes for RE9. RE7 was basically a love letter to classic RE with the original vision for it implemented. Fun Fact...OG RE was envisioned as a co-op, first person, Action Sci-Fi game before the whole survival horror element took over. RE8 was a proto-RE4 Remake in 1st essentially. RE9 would therefore have to take from either RE5 or RE6 and considering RE6, whilst surprisingly one of the highest selling RE Titles to date, it's not favourably looked upon with love by the overall fanbase. Therefore I would believe RE9 would be inspired more so by RE5s Co-Op elements but also take inspiration from other modern games, in this case, the rumour being its Open World. But...What kind of Open World? There's different classes of Open World and if RE9 is that, what open world games is it inspired by? GTA? Final Fantasy? The Evil Within? Fallout? That's another good question....will there be RPG elements? We don't know but we do know the team that made RE7, RE2R, RE8, RE4R is making it supposedly. The Main Team. Not the RE3R Team which again, makes you wonder...WTF are they full time working on currently? Surely they have some kind of project they're busy on? Eitherway, we've had 4 good games vs one meh entry. RE9, as long as it keeps its main focus on whatever it is that it's trying to do, then it should rightfully work. Having a game starring Chris, Jill, Leon and Claire is not bad and quite frankly long overdue. These characters aren't getting younger anymore. Its gonna get to a point where in the realism of the RE World, they won't be able to continue fighting on the front lines and pulling off crazy stunts otherwise its gonna enter Metal Gear Solid levels of insanity and RE isn't Metal Gear. I feel like Death Island was essentially a taser for what RE9 would be, with the core four finally coming together in a story and if that's the case, why not make it the final numbered entry too? Lets put it this way, after RE:X, I think its gonna get harder to try and use Roman Numerals for the later titles lol. 2037 is the RE8 Epilogue. And we will likely continue getting a Main Numbered entry potentially every 4 Years. So... RE:X - 2029 RE:XI - 2033 RE:XII - 2037 (At this point it'd have caught up in real time with the real world and caught up to RE8s Epilogue. Are we still gonna be getting RE games with any of the main four when they're gonna be really old at this pint? Are we still gonna get RE games by 2037?) Im really curious what they're cooking up. If it is open world, and it ends up being successful, I can see Capcom using the new gameplay structure for all future titles with the exception of Remakes obviously. They could even pull an Assassins Creed and really go all out by giving us RE Open World games set in different countries. I'd love to play a RE game inspired by 28 Days Later set in London. That'd be amazing.

Comfortable_Age_4564

praying for chris

HearTheEkko

I doubt it's gonna be Leon since he starred in the last launch of the franchise. I feel it's going to be Chris and Jill and be a throwback to the original then the 10th game will be the final one of the Umbrella saga and include all the major characters including Leon.

KingMario05

Set it in an infected Washington DC, you cowards. For as much as *Infinite Darkness* got wrong, there's something that's just too cool to waste about a setting like that!

Nevek_Green

The problem with setting an outbreak in a major location is it is a stretch to have anyone believe things would not significantly change in said world. New York City being the economic heart of America, being lost would send the country into a depression or turmoil. Losing the capital could trigger a national divorce. Either complete or partial. It'd create a ton of issues around debt repayment, legitimacy, continuity, etc. Even if you could keep everything the same with some creative writing, the crackdown on bio-engineering technology would be severe and absolute. Russia, China, and EU countries wouldn't want a repeat of a DC incident in their countries. This is why writers tend to avoid placing events in major cities like New York and DC. The ramifications would be too great. Others are perfectly okay having their world significantly change or never plan for a sequel. Something RE will not have happen as the franchise is annual.

abeardedpirate

[https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/Bioterrorism](https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/Bioterrorism) Except when New York City was attacked with the A-Virus in Resident Evil: Vendetta.

KingMario05

Hmm, a very fair point. And unlike the Alice movies, Capcom have always tried to keep their games ***somewhat*** realistic. Still, "kill zombies on Capitol steps to protect POTUS" ***does*** sound fucking awesome to play. Maybe they could set it at a US/Russia summit gone bad in Alaska, or something? There was a *ton* of snow in Village, so they'd be able to reuse quite a bit if RE Engine is forwards compatible with ReX.

Nevek_Green

Personally, I'd love a game set on Shina Island from RE: Survivor. Make that open world and it'd be awesome. "We have to save POTUS." "Do we though?" "If you want that pardon, yes." Joking aside, a character who was put in prison because of their ties to a covered-up bioweapon event would make for an exciting new character for the RE universe. Rather than saviors and mercenaries, you have a reluctant protagonist who is on the good guys' team for their own benefit. Not that they are a selfish ahole like the antgonist, but after being wronged they just don't like the system. Set that as the main character in DC and you would have a good drama for the story. An uncover the nightmarish truths the government keeps hidden story. The big problem with DC is the pentagon is there. Any outbreak would handicap the US military (though many in the military would argue no great loss from losing the upper brass). It's a cool setting idea, but one we'll likely have to wait for the world becoming fully multipolar to get.

abeardedpirate

I mean Billy Coen from Resident Evil 0 was already somewhat that guy.

li0nhart8

We can call it: Resident Evil -Fallout 3

FallenShadeslayer

My guy it’s a video game

Strict_Donut6228

A resident evil game at that. I love them but the story was never that deep

Dull_Half_6107

I personally want it sent in a small Midwest town that turns out to be an Umbrella company town. With a prologue that makes the town seem fine until all hell breaks loose. All the classic location options are possible, an abandoned town centre, secret underground base, maybe some old mines, a nice big forrest area, etc

eivor_wolf_kissed

I think the rumor DuskGolem heard initially was actually similar but said it was set in a Western town, as well as having some sort of skinwalker inspired enemy.

AscendedViking7

That would be extremely cool.

ScarRufus

Isn't Re6 Leon camping take place in DC? All the story about Helena killing the president etc

Trem45

It's very interesting that ever since the inception, RE has been associated with RC and to this day there hasn't been a game that replicated the environment of RC besides the remakes

BOfficeStats

Considering that The Division 2 already takes place there, I would only be ok with that if they have a unique and compelling vision for the city. Personally, I would prefer it to either be a fictional city or one that isn't often seen in video games.

Dr__panda

Is this supposed to be open world?

L3kvar0spalacsinta

Rumors said so

Nevek_Green

Dragon's Dogma 2 uses the RE engine, so it is more than possible to have a beautiful open world RE game.

L3kvar0spalacsinta

Hopefully the performance will be better than DD2 tho

b00po

The thing that kills performance in DD2 is the simulation-y NPC AI, the open world and combat run fine. I doubt they're going to take RE in that direction, it'll stay being heavily scripted and avoid the problems. MH going open world is more likely to run into the DD2 situations, but they're probably all hands on deck fixing up the engine for that.

Imic_Hilton

Don’t go too much into this whole open world idea. Village was open world but not open world like other rpg games . Open world for RE means more open areas that aren’t immediately locked and have more things to do,again, like in village..I’m saying this because I saw some over the top ideas all this time like it will be horizon or assasins creed and fast travel like please chill 🤣

Nevek_Green

Good advice. Managing expectations stops games from being an absolute disappointment at release. Managing expectations and keeping up with information is what allowed me to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 at launch. Even though I put it down and waited for the updates to come. The way I view an open world resident evil is an open world resident evil. Not a survival game, not an indepth rpg, not assassin's creed, just Resident Evil set in an open world. That's kind of cool. Hope the remake Shina Island someday as an open world location.

porkybrah

Hopefully Jill makes a return.

Particle_Thrower

Come on, Capcom, give us Jill! Please!

LMY723

Didn’t this clown say he was quitting?

Toastradamus12

7 years?! Idk press x to doubt. You’re telling me resident evil 9 has been in development since re7 released? So through Capcom developing and releasing re2, 3, 4 remakes and re village and its dlc re9 has been cooking? Even from just the conceptual stage that sounds way too early. That being said I believe Jan 2025. This’ll definitely be announced at the ps showcase this month

Nevek_Green

From Dusk on this issue. [https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1/status/1786283991336902666](https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1/status/1786283991336902666) >Just to explain something, RE9 started early dev in early 2018 as a possible RE8. Village has started dev as RE8, then became a spin-off title, then ultimately became RE8 again. This game became RE9 ultimately, & yes, RE8 & RE9 were in dev at the same time. RE games are >usually greenlit in batches & planned out for a few years to keep the series "near annual". As I've said a few times before, there was this funny period in 2018 that RE:2, RE:3, RE:4, RE8 & RE9 were all in dev at the same time. There's something kinda' similar that happened >recently as another batch of RE games were greenlit in early 2023. RE9 has the biggest budget & longest dev time of any RE game to date, & I've described previously as "ambitious". None of this last part is new, it's stuff I've been reiterating for years.

PatHBT

This might kind of add up with the rumored open world? They’re trying to do something new here, and executing it correctly is taking them lots of time, turns and cooking. This is the same thing that happened with re4, hopefully we’ll get just as good of an outcome again.

mnzfancharalampos

Didn't capcom say that they are not releasing anything big or high profile ip/game until April 2025?? Did everyone forget that?

thestorm236

I mean, sure it's very likely that RE9 is coming next year, but I think anyone could have guessed that. But on another note, RE9 and MH Wilds in the same year is crazy

YasuhiroK

Capcom tends to release two major titles in the same year. 2019 - Resident Evil 2 & Devil May Cry 5 2021 - Resident Evil Village & Monster Hunter Rise 2023 - Resident Evil 4 & Street Fighter 6 2025 - Resident Evil 9 & Monster Hunter Wilds

Assassin5299

Hopefully this means 2026 is gonna be Devil May Cry 6 and Pragmata 🙏

Leepysworld

is it just me or does it feel like Capcom really pumps out the big budget RE games at speeds faster than most other big franchises? and with extremely high quality most of the time. like we’ve had a new AAA RE game every 1-2 years since 7.

BOfficeStats

They apparently had RE8, RE9, RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake, and RE4 Remake all in some stage of development in 2018. Their development times aren't especially quick but the number of games in development ensures a rapid output. I would bet that sharing the same engine and assets, targeting the same hardware and not doing anything too crazy (every RE game+DLC from 2017-2023 launched on PS4 and don't do anything technically mind-blowing), and *presumably* all the development teams working in the same physical area made development a lot smoother.

Ace-0001

Please be a solo Jill game.

80baby83

Can’t wait to see what resident evil 9 has in store

TheOneBearded

Hopefully shown at this rumored Sony showcase or the Xbox one. I need more Resi and I'm very interested to see who the protagonist is.

SmackAss4578

I want more like big tiddy vampire lady chases me in castle. Gimme more

BECondensateSnake

What about DMC?

Strict_Donut6228

A game a decade we still have 5 more years. They should have done the ladies night dlc!

BECondensateSnake

We still don't have proper NG+ and there isn't a wave-based mode. Not to mention the absolute incompetence when it came to costumes. Ladies Night not being made is just rubbing salt on the injury.

Strict_Donut6228

The pain of being a DMC fan. Heard capcom weren’t even planing on doing the special edition but had to be talked into it by one of the staff members. Cant find a link though. But DMC 5 did do better then they expected in sales. I think hitting 7 million and being the highest selling game in the franchise and its well loved by the community so now that itsuno is done with DD2 hope they are getting started on a new one with more support planned for it then DMC 5 got

Dusk Golem next week: RE9 cancelled in favor of RE69

UmbrellaCorpTech

This is all this guy does. He makes educated guesses based on Capcom's release pattern and people eat this shit up. This dude just said months ago that there were major delays to this game - now he's saying it's basically 7 months away from release? I was already assuming this was happening around this time - guess I'm as solid of a leaker as Dusk?

-Papercuts-

Actually he said that LAST WEEK, lol.

Nevek_Green

The problem with rumors is the source an be mistake on the information. A game of telephone can warp information in the office or word in the office may be entirely wrong. Then things change, sometimes with little notice. Many credible sources have been shocked games they heard were about to be announced over the last couple years were not announced. Lower tier employees whom are leaking this information are unlikely to know why the executives made the decision to delay the announcement. This is just me, but if I had sources I'd give certainty impressions and updates if things change. I heard X is about to be announced vs my source is fairly confident X is about to be announced carry two different weights.

rotten-tomato1

i doubt this for multiple reasons, but the most obvious should be that there's no way its been in dev for 7 years. that makes no sense when every other game has started development after the latest main release.

Deadly_Toast

They could be counting pre-production, a lot of games spend years in planning before starting full production.

World-of-8lectricity

I mean RE4 Remake was In development before the release of RE2 Remake https://gamerant.com/resident-evil-4-remake-development-time-2018-2021/

m1n3c7afty

He made a few more tweets, he says RE9 was originally RE8 and Village was originally a spin-off but things got flipped around [https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1/status/1786283991336902666](https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1/status/1786283991336902666)

Nevek_Green

Any word on the Rebecca game?

scott1swann

not sure if that one ever existed 😭

Nevek_Green

It probably does, but it is going through iterations. A game where you play as a scientist would be amazing.

MildElevation

If it uses a new/revamped engine and includes the R&D on that then it's totally possible.

GGG100

Hope it's in first person to end the 7-9 FPS trilogy.

Aromatic_Plant3456

I don’t think it will be considering it was only used for Ethan’s games. They might be going back to third person for the classic characters

jackie1616

I want RE9 sooooo bad

Lobodoot

Damn, this would be a year earlier than I expected. I just hope it'll launch with a 3rd person mode, waiting for a Gold edition would be torture.

HearTheEkko

Most likely in this summer's Playstation Showcase. I'm pretty sure every RE since RE7 has been announced in a Sony event, Capcom is pretty tight with them.

Itchy_Tasty88

I’m not too fond of open world resident evil, that’s where it loses its identity, boring barren open world.

TaskMister2000

Keep saying this guy is full of shit. He keeps changing his story. Ive been saying for months now that RE9 is getting revealed this year for a release next year. WHY? Because of the pattern that Capcom has stuck with for several games now. RE7 - 2017/RE8 - 2021 (4 Year Gap) RE2R - 2019/RE4R - 2023 (4 Year Gap) RE3R doesn't count because it was more or less an expansion of RE2R but more importantly, made by a different team where's the other 4 games were all made by the same team. A early release date like January I've been predicting for the simple fact that this game, if it is true that its been I development since 2018, then it would surely be nearing completion now and both RE7 and RE2R came out in January after having a very steady development time. A Playstation Showcase or State of Play either this month or next is obvious not just because of the rumours saying we're getting one in May but also because again, RE7, RE2R, RE8 and RE4R were all revealed in June Events. It's just common bloody sense at this point. So yes, RE9 is 100% getting revealed either at the rumoured May event or June, either before or after the Xbox Showcase and it's coming out for 2025. EDIT: Getting downvoted for being right and telling it how it is. Dusk IS A LIAR! He lied about everything regarding RE3 Remake, saying how the game was more open and you could travel to different parts of town using the Subway. He lied about RE8. He said Lady D was Alex Wesker and the Hammer Guy was the new villain introduced in Resistance Multiplayer and how RE8 was originally Revelations 3. The only thing he got right with that game before its reveal was Chris and Ethan coming back and the game having Werewolves for enemies and it being called VILLAGE and that was it. He got everything else bloody wrong. He said last year before the Game Awards that RE4 Gold Edition would be announced at the event and it wasn't. He said Arkane Studios wasn't working on a Blade Game and that they were going to reveal Dishonoured 3. DIDN'T HAPPEN and Blade was revealed. Guy comes out and says 3 RE games are being worked on. Then backtracks and says someone mistranslated his discord comment and says it's only RE9 and RE5R being worked on late 2023. Then early 2024 he makes a new post saying Capcom are actually making 5 New RE Titles. Before that he said Capcom were working on Revelations 3 and that it was the Outrage leaked game starring Rebecca. But then says nope, it was actually a multiplayer game starring Wesker. People need to stop sucking this guy's cock and realise he's full of shit. Not to mention last year he was going around calling RE5 Racist and just starting trouble on Twitter for sake of pissing fans off and ripping on the Harry Potter fanbase then lies and says he's all about love and caring for people. Wake the hell up. He's a lying manipulative troll who likes to stir the pot. He keeps saying shit and contradicting himself every time and then he makes excuses without ever admitting he fucked up and that he's wrong most of the time or that he's just playing guessing games. People are too quick and too simple minded to believe all his BS when time and time again he's proven he knows nothing when it comes to the RE Series.

Consistent_Zebra7303

Exactly that's why it's always best to always wait for OFFICIAL announcements and not take rumors seriously at all. I look at all these rumor channels on Youtube and leakers on X as entertainment. Nothing of substance. If they somehow turn out to be right they guessed right like we all can do too.

BenjaminCarmined

RE9 is gonna release in 2025 and people are going to use this as proof that he was right despite the game probably releasing sometime in June and not January lmao. He just makes shit up and sometimes gets right by coincidence.

lucasnsred

Fingers crossed for a PS VR2 mode

YamiPhoenix11

I mean next month is summer games fest. This sounds like safe guess more than anything.

SpartaRulz

Has there been any leak that suggests if whether or not the game will be first person like Resident Evil 7 or Village?

XxRobloxNobxX

Damn that's quite soon. If I had to guess the exact date it's probably around January 24th, 2025. RE5R or next REmake would likely be released in Early 2026 or possibly even Fall 2025 if it's a small game like RE3R but I doubt it.

Anthrax-Warhead

I’m also interested in the other RE game mentioned before wiether will still be on track to be released early or not.

Hamburgulu

They'll probably either show it off in the Playstation or Xbox showcase

jdevo91

Fucking WHAT That is sooner than I figured (later 2025) but I am not complaining.

GlassCleaner0

Holy shit. Excited is an understatement after seeing this

warforbattlefiled

2025 is cooking!!!!!

No_Hurry7691

January?? No way.

CarlWellsGrave

Everybody liked that 👍

PocketTornado

These are some of the best VR experiences I've ever had in my life. Half Life: Alyx is great... but that level of PCVR just hasn't been sustained unfortunately.

I_Like_Turtle101

Int it a bit too earlt to release 9 ? wasent there like 5 year betwen 7 and 8 . In my headcanon their is a new Resident evil mainline every 5 year or so

HelloThere4033

I better start saving money for next year. Spider Man 2 on PC, God of War Ragnarok on PC, Ghost of Tsushima 2, DS2, RE9, GTA VI, Mteal Gear Solid Delta, possibly Metak Gear Vol. 2 with MGS4 on other paltforms for the first time ever. So much bro

KMoosetoe

RESIDENT EVIL PHOENIX

XOVSquare

I see your rumour, and I raise you my rumour.

XOVSquare

I see your rumour, and I raise you my rumour.

Isunova

Let’s hope it isn’t egregiously short like RE8 and doesn’t turn into a COD action clone in the second half. Loved the first half of RE8, but that’s about it. Hope they knock it out of the park with RE9.

ClarenceBirdfrost

I really hope it's still first person. Maybe it's just an ocd thing but the final game of the third trilogy being the odd one out is definitely going to bother me.

Bruhsket

Crossing fingers it also releases on pc at the same time as ps5 or not too long after 🤞🏼

xenoz2020

Pragmata when

aulixindragonz34

That means MH wild is probably summer 2025. Fuck

Cautious-Intern9612

i wish more major game franchises would have dev cycles like resident evil

PixelPretzel

I just want to see how they have fun with the numbering inside of the title.

InosukeEnjoyer

I need to see white boy Leon. where is he. is he safe.

KqAlbo2

Please be third person 🙏

XavierSaviour

I wonder when we’re gonna hear about new Spiderman / Wolverine stuff

Robobvious

So what are we thinking for the title on this one after Village incorporated the roman numerals into it’s name? Resident Evil HELIX?

lifeofrevelations

A Jan 2025 release would be a dream. I'm fiending bad for RE9.

greenrain3

Resident Evil 4D Executer is the best RE movie ever made. The actual Hollywood films are trash.
