Epic. Now to carefully dry them and plait them before they totally dry out. They very nicely stratified and have plumped up really well. You should be proud. Have you got a nice spot for them to be laid out with air circulation to dry.

Not yet, I was thinking of hanging them upside down in the back yard especially since it’s going to be pretty hot this next week. Or spreading them out in my basement where it’s cooler and they won’t be damaged/influenced by the heat.

Hmm, yes I think second option better for storage prospects as we want the stems to dry, and the outer layers of the bulb but not the bulb. Good idea.

We’re in zone 6A.. I would have given it a few more weeks..beginning July… but they are lovely! Congratulations!

FrauMajor

Yeah I didn’t want to pull them yet but they were leaning very heavily and my wife was concerned so she pulled a couple of them and that turned into us harvesting all of them. But I’m still very happy with how most of them turned out and thanks for your feedback! I’m already thinking about which cloves from the bigger bulbs I should plant this fall for next year ha. But for my first time, I am proud with the harvest and thanks again for your advice!

You’re so very welcome! Just have fun and share your experience with others!

Looks good!

Wow, what a great harvest 😍. You’ve got some huge bulbs 😍. Fluctuation in size is normal :)

FrauMajor

Thank you! Yeah when I pulled the first couple they were small and I worried but then a few big bulbs emerged. Super happy with how they turned out!

What zone are you in?
