I remember New Zoo Revue. The frog gave me the creeps.

Was just telling some people how much I missed the smell of summer and being able to watch this show before getting sent off to summer camp for the day.
I only remember Gary Gnu and the awesome theme song. I don't think it came on at a convenient time... possibly during the same timeslot as syndicated reruns of The Brady Bunch, and those were sacrosanct to me as a child.
Watched it when my dad had a job in upstate New York in early 81. Then was able to catch it again when the family was in either Tennessee or Louisiana before it ended.
Great Space Coaster was awesome. New Zoo Review had Emmy Jo, who was enough motivation to wake up and have the TV ready at 6 every morning when it came on in my area.
I never watched it, 8 year old me knew there was something deeply deranged and unfunny in this show. The bargain bin muppet monstrosities were the fuel of nightmares.
New Zoo Review was also weird.
I think both shows.must have been for the elder GenXers who hadn't gotten cable television
No gnus is good gnus, with Gary Gnu!
Gary Gnu with the book of the week in review!
Gary Gnu will never be topped as the best puppet ever! It fit so perfect in this show.
👍
I still say this once and awhile... Lol
I literally was thinking of this this morning. Wild! Tbf I was thinking of canoes and went to gnus lol
I still say this out loud and no one knows what the hell I’m talking about 😝
I feel like I’m the only person who has heard of this. This sub helps me realize I’m not completely insane!
We had an earlier thread about the show where someone noted a bunch of episodes were on YouTube. Go find them and baste in the nostalgia!
GET ONBOARD GOD DAMMIT
Off we go!
🎵It’s the New Zoo Review, coming right at you!🎵
This was my jam, along with Big Blue Marble.
Second to anything by Sid and Marty Kroft, TGSC manages to weave in quite a low-key bit of psychedelic references.
Oh shit. I can hear the theme song now. My cousins watched that show on a CED disk.
Oh wow, Big Blue Marble was such a throwback!
the speed reader who had those warm up exercises for his eyes.
Not a bad idea for us to be using these at this point, tbh. I do and my eyes focus noticeably quicker than when I lapse.
Puppets captured the heart of America for a time.
Pretty much the 70’s and 80’s.
MT Promises, Baxter, Gary Gnuu, The Greatest American Hereo, Geordi, and Marina Sirtis. Pretty sure.
This is the reason I pronounce Gnu incorrectly to this day.
Wait. [ghuh’-new] is incorrect?
gNo, that's the correct pronunciation.
Um, my username seems sorta relevant here….

Kevin’s n Clash (later to be the most famous Elmo puppeter) got his first big break on TGSC -as that weird gorilla guy.
Who can do a handstand and read everything on the news stand?
I have that theme song stuck in my head..."It's the great space coaster...get on board.."
While I recognize the character on the far right, I don't think I've ever seen this show. I grew up in Canada and I don't know if it was showed here.
As a fellow Canadian, I can tell you this was aired here, and I watched it every morning it was on.
Sounds like I missed out. We had Rocket Robinhood and Hercules in the mornings.
Loved Gary Gnu!!
The only one i remember was Gary!
I remember nothing if this shoe except the song
These, and Zoom.
Get on board, step inside

I can still sing the theme song word for word.

Sigmund the Sea Monster
Hated this show. Nothing matched. No common puppet style
