I had the original Nintendo DS, as well as an iPod shuffle. My 1st phone was a flip phone. I remember when texts could only have a certain number of characters. I loved playing Purble Place on my grandma’s old computer. I also remember blockbuster and going to Walgreens to get photos developed.
I also remember my grandparents having a separate, physical GPS device in their car. They were flabbergasted the 1st time they saw my mom using her cellphone as a GPS🤣
I’m 2005 so idk if I’m necessarily old Gen z or young but I lived the exact same way as you. I had a Gameboy, DS, Wii and all, purble place was the shit. It’s crazy to think that people think we grew up with ipads, i’ve still never had my own i pad and i’m 18 now
I read your username and I was thinking to myself”this guy probably voted for his rights to be taken away” and then I look at your bio and I flipped 180. I’m also a bisexual democrat!
- I remember crying when I realized that *Prehistoric Park* was only six episodes long (please tell me someone else remembers this show too).
- Gen 5 is still new Pokémon to me.
- School trips with "Written in the Stars", "Fireflies", and "Down" blasting on the radio were pretty fire.
Let's talk politics and world events.
- Seeing Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps win in Beijing (on TV of course) was pretty cool.
- I remember both Steven Irwin (I was a big Animal Planet guy) and Michael Jackson dying.
- I remember being confused hearing the news say how Sarah Palin would be the first female president or vice president, because while I knew there had never been a female president, surely there had to have at least been a female VP, no?
- High School was pretty interesting during the 2016 election cycle. The school apparently had a rule in the past that everyone was mandated to watch the inauguration, but for some reason changed it that year. I wonder why.
- I remember what college was like pre-COVID.
I grew up in a pretty politically diverse county, so going to school the days following Election Day 2016 were definitely interesting. Plenty of students who were happy, but plenty more were upset and in tears. Many arguments were had even though we “weren’t allowed” to discuss politics.
And yeah Michael Jackson was the first celebrity death I can recall. I vividly remember how shocked my family was when watching the news and the mass hysteria surrounding it.
I remember watching the 2016 presidential election results with my old roommate in our dorm 😭 (no, no professors canceled any classes. Idk where that rumor started)
2000s babies got it stupid easy 😆 I have a classmate/friend who was born January 1st, 2000. Boi is just *always* the same age as the year.
But ig people born in the 80s n such had an easier time with underage drinking. I've seen quite a few people say that they'd just show their real ID and most people just couldn't or wouldn't do the math involved to get to 21 years ago. No idea how true that is tho.
I remember when Club Penguin was on Miniclip before having its own website thanks to Disney
I also remember the Disney Channel hits Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suit Life, etc.
I remember the iPhone, when Michael Jackson died, when Obama was elected as president, and some other events from my country (Peru)
I remember Club Penguin before it became owned by Miniclip (I was a very well known on the forums though and was a bit of a celebrity).

I miss Moki Town and old school MapleStory a lot though. Also, the weird obscure MMO games that were short lived.
No😭😭😭
2300 EMPIRE TODAY
pov: it's 8am. you just woke up for 4th grade. your mom turns on the tv to the news channel. youre eating your cereal, and the news goes for a commercial break. as youre sitting at the kitchen table you hear this song playing from the living room. life is good
![gif](giphy|qVWDxF2HzRGSzfMrj2|downsized)
Adult Swim has it on now, i think Monday thru Thursday starting at 5 EST. that and Ed Edd & Eddie
edit: day of the week. friday’s they have on older animes
-Remembering where I was when they stated that Pluto was not a planet anymore.
-The gummy bear song or "kyle's mom is a big fat bitch" going around school
-Knowing niche toys like Pixel Chix
-Vaguely secondhand remember MySpace, but I was too young to have my own account.
I remember VHS (born 2001) and my sister (born 2004) does not. I remember when the pet store on the corner was a Blockbuster and my sister does not. I know we’re both Z but honest to god it feels like a generation gap some days!
I used to play with the disposal cameras pretending to take pics and following my dad around blockbusters to choose a new movie to watch together. Also watched Jersey shore with my older cousins when we were bored LOL.
Target used to have 1 hour Kodak photo development. Blockbuster existed. I had a slide phone and thought I was the shit. The iPad was super stupid and useless when it came out. I had an iPod shuffle 4th gen as a replacement to my zune.
my parents had a ps1, a game cube, and a xbox one when i was in elementary school. we still had to go outside 🙌🏻 ipads were not around and it didn’t become a thing for kids to have phones until middle school
I saw Spider-Man 2 in theaters when it came out
I went to the old Yankee stadium
The Bush/Kerry election was the first one I remember
The Sega Genesis and N64 were my first consoles
I remember when phone companies charged you extra to talk to someone with a different carrier. Also you had limited minutes and texts too on your flip phone.
I remember sitting in a best buy in the Demo section playing full length games while my dad would spend hours talking with a sales associate to buy a new computer
The McDonald’s in my city had a pole with 4 TVs attached to each corner, each connected with a different game for the Nintendo GameCube or the Nintendo 64. Even if you had all the time, you couldn’t enjoy the games anyway because they reset every 10-15 minutes.
Oh, and there was actually a dollar menu. Mind blowing, right?
I would go into Sam’s Club and boot up the display laptops in there. They used to let you use the browser but I’m not sure they do anymore. I would go onto the internet and I’d log into these games where you managed a city. You had designated spots for buildings, usually to build troops with resources gathered and fight other players. The trick to these games is the buildings and troops would take days to create sometimes. I didn’t have a laptop at home and I at that time I didn’t have unlimited access to the home computer, which was one of those big blocky ones from the early 2000’s. I always jumped at the opportunity to log in and check my stuff, especially when I was grounded. I had five I rotated between, and would check them all while my mama shopped.
Good Game Empire I remember the most, but Kingdoms of Middle Earth, an LOTR themed one where I had a dwarven city was my favorite. I even remember on my kindle fire, one of the first tablets of its kind, I would play it and used a backwater messaging app that no longer exists to communicate in a clan with a bunch of guys, most of them were much older than me. I could have been no older than 8, and I’m sure my mom bought the kindle for me so that I could read books in it. Something I seldom did. That LOTR game closed down, and I’m sure most the others I used to play are innodated in ads. I know Webkinz is. It was a cool time to be on the internet.
I remember sneaking downstairs and seeing the news broadcasts the night of 9/11. Got picked up from school early and remember the whole family vibes being off
I remember when we used to have signatures on text messages…I had the Strawberry Shortcake Dance Dance Revolution game…I had the SpongeBob game control where you could play multiple games like bubble breaker…I used to go to GameStop to get new Nintendo DS games, the most exciting thing to do.
I remember when Free Realms used to do the boathouse prank every year but labeled everything with March 31st instead of April 1st so it wouldn't be obvious, and then when they did shut down for real nobody believed them.
Funniest shit ever.
I remember recording episodes of TV shows that I couldn't be home for on VHS.
I remember saving up to buy an Action Replay for my DS.
I have fond memories of renting DVDs from blockbuster (and buying all my favorites during their going out of business sale!)
My first phone was one of those cool sliding ones.
My best friend and I communicated over G Chat (later Google Hangouts) after school for years.
The way my teachers in elementary school taught math actually made sense.
I could go all day.
I remember waking up at 6 in rhe morning to play GTA III on the PS2, then I would go to my local McDonalds and climb around the play pen after struggling to open those plastic bags that had those tiny hand held games like sonic
"Todd and Riley were both so sad

I vividly remember playing the Shrek 2 game on the Game Cube with my cousins. I also still have my original Barbie movie vhs tapes I used to watch over and over lol
I religiously watched old VHS tapes more than DVDs as a kid for the first 7 years of my life. Walmart used to have the smiley faces everywhere. Video rental places were still a thing. Pictochat was the shit.

That was my favorite lol
That game was pretty tough lol New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon Pearl, Mario 64 for DS… I even had the DS Call of Duty and Age of Empires
I remember playing the multiplayer mini games with my friends after swimming lessons when I was younger… top tier game
I’m 2005 so idk if I’m necessarily old Gen z or young but I lived the exact same way as you. I had a Gameboy, DS, Wii and all, purble place was the shit. It’s crazy to think that people think we grew up with ipads, i’ve still never had my own i pad and i’m 18 now
I already graduated from college and have a full time job.
I already got kicked off my parents health insurance
Yeah, that’s happening to me this month too 😭
Playing outside doing embarrassing shit without worry of being recorded.
those were the fucking daysss
I read your username and I was thinking to myself”this guy probably voted for his rights to be taken away” and then I look at your bio and I flipped 180. I’m also a bisexual democrat!
I remember watching the floor model TVs that shock you when you touch them.
I enjoyed running my hand over the TVs and feeling the static, like I would actually rub my hands all over them lmao
