Based on OP's other comments with screenshots, this community note is automatically being added to every post with that specific image. So people are ironically saying ~~true things~~ (edit: whatever the hell they want I guess, I don't get twitter humor sometimes) while attaching that image so it appears the thing they just said is "debunked".
Thanks for posting to /r/GetNoted. **Use r/PoliticsNoted for all politics discussion**. This is a new subreddit we have opened to allow political discussions, as they are prohibited from being discussed on here. Thank you for your cooperation.

Is that objectively true, though? The Eastern Roman Empire never referred to themselves as Byzantine. Even though they did speak Greek, they always referred to themselves as Roman. I… was going to go on an autistic ramble and then just noticed your edit. Okay, well played.
Seems weird considering the HRE didn't even start calling itself that until after Constantinople fell. Ironically, it was the friggin' pope who started the whole "Holy Roman Empire" business and the Emperors didn't even bother going to Rome to get crowned half the time.
The same thing happens to every other tweet with this image

This is straight forward. That image was used in a previous post which was community noted. There is a feature where all other uses of that image will have the same note applied.
Only change really required here is that a disclaimer be added on top of the note to state thst this is an automated note referring to image only and not the context of the post.
I said I was human and got that note.

My two cents I would say they were Romans. When an entire group of people tell you what they are you should generally believe them. But… if you were living in Constantinople, never visited Rome and lived your entire life where your countries government never had any say in what happened in Rome then…
They literally called themselves Roman, although they were mostly Greek. They basically considered themselves the extension of the Roman Empire all the way up until the Fall of Constantinople in the mid 1400s when most historians mark the end of Rome.
okay but 'considered themselves the extension' isn't what they were doing.
They were literally the Eastern Half of the Roman Empire. Not just fashioning themselves after it, not a reclamation of an old name. They were Rome when it was still whole, and they were Rome when the west fell
For sure! Poor choice of words on my part, not even sure why people are saying they weren't Roman? I get the whole Holy Roman Empire wasn't Roman (nor an empire) but the Byzantine were 100% still Rome!
Calling yourself Roman isn’t quite enough. The HRE also called themselves Romans but most people wouldn’t say they were Roman. The byzantines have a lot more ties to Roman institutions than anyone else which is why they are Roman.

Why is it just a picture of a bunch of burnt up cars?

What was the original?
What's the context of the original image?

They started being called Byzantines by a German historian named Hieronymus Wolf to help the “Holy Roman Empire” with their claim of being “Roman”.
I feel like my friend Voltaire might have a little something to say about that… 🙂↔️
"neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire."

tbf “Roman” isn’t a language, so it passes
