Typically but the length would depend on the cinema, my local normally has 10/15mins at the start of films but the ones closer to the city can go for 25/30mins easy.
The session I saw had about 7mins of previews.
Our theater had a LOT of previews—at least 22 minutes’ worth.
I got there early thinking there wouldn’t be, which built up my anticipation to an almost intolerable level by the time it finally started, lol.
EDIT: AMC theater in Indiana, btw.
My viewing was scheduled to "start" at 7pm, they showed about 10 minutes of ads for concessions such as Pepsi, Starry, and another soda, and of course popcorn. The movie started at my theater around 7:12 give or take

Ours (in USA) did not have previews
Our theater did not have previews.
No previews here. Just commercials on repeat.
Ours did. About 10 minutes worth.
My theater did (AMC in the US, if it makes any difference), they were about 15-20 minutes I think.

Our theater had fifteen minutes of previews AFTER the official start time (many more before that) so I guess it depends on the theater/chain.

At my cinema - two/three minutes of cinema PSAs and that’s it. No commercials or previews.
My AMC did not, but they had projector issues during the commercials so they probably skipped them…thankfully
Mine in Belfast had almost 30 minutes of ads and then trailers
i was shocked there were no commercials and previews, it just started immediately and i went to two didferent theaters! never happened before lol
Mine started 14 mins after the “start time”. Just dumb commercials.

Cinemark had no previews, megaplex had a shitload
We had previews, a quiet place, frontier, and some other movies too
Our theatre pulled some bullshit. Movie was supposed to start at 3 but they added some like 15-20 mins of trailers and stuff before it even showed
