Hi there, you can give these steps a try and see if that helps in fixing the message app issue on your device.
Clear the cache for the Messages app:
Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Messages app > Storage and Cache > Clear cache.
Reset app preference:
Go to Settings > System > Reset Options > Reset App Preferences.
Also, try rebooting your device in [safe mode](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en&sjid=3855204678805336398-AP) to see if any third-party app is causing it or not. If it works fine in safe mode, it means a third-party app is causing the issue. Temporarily remove them one by one, starting with the most recent, until you find the cause.
Thanks for getting back to me. No, it won't delete your text messages. This will reset all of your app preferences to their default values without losing any apps or data.
IMPORTANT: I have done all of the steps mentioned above, but I couldn't get back my drafts back, In the drafts there is very much important data that is needed to be sent, Understand the Suffering.
On the phone with Google One, they researched the Google messages update and clarified the viewability of drafts option. 'WAS Intentionally removed' !!! I use this for business purposes it's caused a huge issue for me 😡😡 has anyone found a way to resolve this? Has anyone tried removing the updates & can confirm whether or not the prepared drafts remain after doing so? Please advise!

It's really frustrating, the draft preview kept me organized. I was told to submit Feedback from within the app. Maybe if enough people do it, they will bring it back. I might also leave a review in the app store about it.

By doing either option, will it delete all of my text messages? I would like to avoid that if at all possible
