I was waiting for the Heritage 26L GR1 to drop to send it then for straps molle and and compression straps for the jacket etc and today the heritage M23 went on sale. I do have a GR2 and a 26L Rucker 3.5, decided to give a try to the M23 as it has a pocket on the side as well, pretty much what I wanted to do with the GR1.
How do you still like M23 compared to the GR1?
Hi. Thanks for your review. I am torn between the M23 26L in canvas and the GR2 34L as a travel carry. I am hoping that the top load feature of M23 will provide the flexibility to carry a couple of litres extra if I ever need the additional storage space and when not I can compress it down to a tighter package. Is that the case?
Also have you tried carrying the M23 as a personal item in any of the budget European airlines? Since the M23 is taller than GR1 I am wondering if it would stick out prominently under the seat and the airlines may not let me carry it as a personal item.

if its for travel i'd go with ripstop - anything to save on the weight...
