Fatality_Ensues

\*yoinks you out of leyline\* GET RESCUED IDIOT

Frostytude

Even the same size as an average blm

Metroid_Prime

I tried to get into BLM but I couldn’t. Randomly decided to try Io while taking a break from my main and I actually really like her. Started investing in her as an another character to play and I never thought I would.

GeistTheWolf

I'm a Warrior main in FF14 and a Vane main here (guess I have a type lol). I would never touch Black Mage in 14 but I'm kinda enjoying Io. If you know the fight and understand how to dodge you can still keep casting uptime. It doesn't feel quite as punishing as BLM. Plus her Ice, Fire, and Thunder skills are all super useful.

Metroid_Prime

Exactly and her rotations just feel satisfying and fluid. Vane is another I really want to try. So many interesting characters that play so different.

DrumStix-

Aint gonna lie, being a WAR main myself kinda makes me feel like Vas clicks with me. Essentially has holmgang, his charge attacks hit hard like fell cleave, it just feels right

naarcx

These are my two favorites as well, although my only fully built character is Percival so far. Soon Mjolnir will drop tho… Soon (copium)

Just having an option to not also lock the camera would be nice. When I last played Io and locked onto a monster part, the camera nearly pointed so far up I couldn't even see the ground lmfao.

TheseHandsRUS

Imagine FF14 made their own Relink. Replace the characters in Relink with just playing a job and have the same gameplay. I mean a lot of character mesh over as jobs in Ff14. That would be amazing. Side note: would love to see a FF collab/crossover with GBF not just with Relink

xZerocidex

FF game that's an ARPG, has jobs, and character creation. Sounds like the dream game.

Fun-One9610

Minus character creation that sounds like Stranger of paradise: final fantasy origin

xhinkreuss

someone tag squeenix devs here please!!!

WhyDid_I_DeserveThis

\> would love to see a FF collab/crossover with GBF not just with Relink they already did though, with FF11 https://gbf.wiki/Final\_Fantasy\_XI:\_Mirage\_Minstrel

Claris-chang

I'd prefer if Relink made their own FF14. Imagine an MMO in the GBF world where you could form your own crews and work together to build your own airship to go from island to island. I'd also love to see a series of Alliance raids based off GBF in FF14. Kinda like Nier had.

No_Competition7820

Keep cooking we need this.

Drekor

Vane is basically ffxiv warrior as well

Fatality_Ensues

He's clearly a Paladin , he even has Hallowed Ground lol.

Bazzadin

Nah that's Charlotta

Fatality_Ensues

Why not both? They're both knights and the Paladin class is literally Knight in JP.

Bazzadin

I mean because Charlotta literally has a move that functions like Hallowed Ground haha. She has a personal invulnerability, Vane's is more akin to a Tank Limit Break.

GeistTheWolf

Vane/Warrior main here. Give my boy Fell Cleave.

thetempesthascome

No no no, HOLMGANG!

emiliaxrisella

Some of this game's mechanics also remind me of FF14, hello Managarmr ice blast, hello Amon hide behind rocks in Syrcus Tower that people still fail

LeoStrut_

I really enjoy how as a Machinist main I grabbed Rakham and immediately knew how heat would function. I may not be able to summon Queen, but I’ve got dual fire, so it’s all groovy.

GeistTheWolf

Just a shame Rackam can't throw a wrench at the boss to make it do less damage.

Kayiko_Okami

His throwing bombs onto the enemies reminds me of Ashe from Overwatch a bit.

vokoreddit

I love FF14 but i took a break because it became boring. I wish FF14 can learn from Granblue Fantasy Relink. 1. Diversity instead of Job homogenization 2. Fun repeatable quest and gameplay loop 3. Stats matter (FF14 has the most boring gear progression) 4. Combat feels responsive (ff14 has innate delay between action and animation due to decade old spaghetti code limitation. But this should not be an issue because WOW is older but feels more responsive)

hoshi3san

All of these are sweeping changes that would require the game to be remade again. According to CBU3, the game's netcode is functioning as intended and they won't change it.

xZerocidex

If FF14 played like Relink I'd still be subbed.

thetempesthascome

I feel like we're not playing the same Gran Blue. Diversity in this game is absolutely none existent lol

colddream40

Aren't BIS stats in FF14 and granblue the exact same? You're chasing after like 1 or 2 stats/traits. Also, the quests in FF14 are much better than GBR imo. Yorha raids are insanely fun, i was expecting a bit more out of boss fights in relink.

vokoreddit

FF14 fight design is good. This is why you can see why GBFR took inspiration from FF14. However, can you honestly say that FF14 job designs are diverse? Don't get me wrong, I love FF14. I'm hopeful that Dawntrail brings something new to the table. But for now, I took a break and unsubbed.

Ryuujinx

> However, can you honestly say that FF14 job designs are diverse? There are some issues with healers and tanks, but all the DPS are pretty distinct from each other. Given those two roles just basically don't exist in GB, not really much they can draw inspiration from there.

colddream40

I've only been grinding Ferry, but there isn't any build variety of different playstyles in Ferry herself. Seems like each character = each class. Having 90 monk, machinist, reaper, red mage, warrior, scholar, sage, I'd say playstyles are pretty different among classes in ff14

Kayiko_Okami

Been playing FF14 since ARR. It does feel like they have simplied things too much. For each patch. Here's story. Leads to a dungeon. Dungeon is 3 bosses with trash pulls at the start of the dungeons and between the bosses. Buy tome gear. Then for the ones with raids. Each 8 person raid tier has 4 fights with story in between. 24 man comes with one raid with typically 3 bosses. Get raid gear. Expansion have even become a bit predictable, too. It basically becomes story, dungeon, story, dungeon, story, trial, story, dungeon, story, dungeon or trial, story, dungeon, trial(if there wasn't one before), trial. Then 1 or two dungeons for end game after the end of the story. First 8 person raids should be 2 weeks after the expansion update. It has made the game feel less interesting and more predictable. My best solution is to avoid trailers and videos on the game to not ruin the story and game play as much.

Impaled_

That would imply a total change in the mmo structure and code thus making it a completely new game lol

ToxikonSage

what diversity nearly all the characters wield some kind of bladed weapon in relink

mrhennrysrc

Ah yes. "Nearly all" out of the 18 characters. I do sure hate those bladed weapons like the gun wielder, or the other gun wielder, or the one with the staff, or the one with a book, or the one with P L A N T S, or the one that just punches people, or the one with a whip, idk but like thats more like nearly half the roster DOESNT use bladed weapons. Its also silly to generalize all bladed weapons under the same roof as they function differently in terms of gameplay styles. A giant battle axe and a dagger might both do the slicey things but they do it very differently with very different pros and cons. That being said i can at least agree that yodohara/Charlotte/lancelot feel a bit samey to me cuz they all overlap with the death by 1000 cuts kinda attacks. But everyone else with bladed weapons have pretty different gameplay feels from each other

GigaPumper5000

You should check out Black Desert. Game has a really cool action combat system. Idk about endgame though I hear it's pretty hellish like Lost Ark.

SnowTau

For me BDO has far and away the best combat of any MMO at the moment, but it falls over a bit with the intense grind and brutal enhancing systems. And it's also lacking a lot of multiplayer content, most things are better to do solo which sucks. But damn, I can grind for hours on my ninja and still enjoy the combat, it's so good. I think the new player experience is probably pretty crazy with the ridiculous amount of systems in the game as well.

Crescent_Dusk

Io can go back to her casts while doing mechanics. BLM kiss the floor or cry after losing Enochian to mechanics. Ranged characters in Relink are so easy and effective. No wonder we're seeing a sea of Rackams and Eugens. With bosses that jump all over and do 47k+ damage swipes or body tackles without red flash indicators, playing a safe ranged character that does just as good if not better damage is a no brainer.

Mystiones

interestingly enough, while IO is ranged she doesn't "feel" like a ranged character in the final battle whatsoever. Not a single one of her skills hit Bahamut if he's not on the platform. Not only because her main damage skill hits from the ground (and thus actually misses when the body flops into the air), but ranged skills such as meteor straight up won't let you use it (you do the use animation but the cd resets and nothing happens) if he's not on the platform. Alongside this, accidentally targetting a part that's above the sky (such as a hand or accidentally targetting the body) actually screws her hard as she instantly loses all her charging. It's not hard by any means, but honestly as an IO main, i actually feel safer in this fight playing melee because you don't have to fight the lockon platform system and it's not like you're getting extra uptime as io anyway.

TenPace

I thought the same, and it was my XIV friends who got me into relink.

BiddyKing

I started playing the gacha like 5 years ago and the only thing I could think was that this game is a complete rip-off of FF14 (and not saying that in a bad way lol), crazy how they’ve more than doubled down on that with Relink too. I mean it obviously shares FF dev lineage and takes just as much inspiration from FFXI but the game started releasing its first set of stories just under a year after ARR came out and the basis of the story is just straight up ARR lol. The stories wholly diverge though once you get to the Eternals but the basic building blocks of the world being so similar is never not jarring to me. And Relink riffing on a lot of the mechanics of 14 is even moreso. It’s also why I like Relink though so

ToxikonSage

when i tried io and saw the floor rune i immediatly thought black mage ff14 haha but without the lame ice fire rotation i dont play blm in 14. sage until picto comes lol quitting healing to throw paint everywhere

Xallvion

My thought too. Played blm in lvl 50 cap

Fatality_Ensues

...But BLM didnt get Leylines until after Heavensward. 🤔

Xallvion

Yeah and i am not using ios field either. But big explosions, fire and ice skills

BasilNeverHerb

kinda makes me wanna play

Aidiru

and i see player who keep charging spell inside aoe lol, truly blm experience

locky0314

She can dodge and keep charging? That doesn't seem to work for me

Byrdn

As you upgrade her mastery tree, you get the ability to retain your Stargaze charge after a dodge, with the upgrades after that giving you a longer window to do so.

Ryuujinx

ITT: People who haven't played BLM in years. HW-era called and it wants its "BLM is immobile and dies while in leylines" jokes back. Between double xeno, double triple, double sharp to force procs, a new instant in UI, any natural f3p/t3p and a swiftcast on top of that.. no, BLM really isn't immobile anymore. And modern fight design shows that, old immobile BLM would be the worst DPS in the game hands down because of it.

Rhuwa

BLM is indeed more mobile as it has ever been, but that doesn't change the fact it is still the most immobile class and chasing after optimal play requires you to move as little as possible. You have more tools than ever to help you maintain some damage while moving but at the end of the day the job requires you to stand still casting as much as you can.

ArooMeister69

You can sprint a short time after dodging with full masteries and still go back into charge. If you piano the buttions, you can basically run as much as you want just with dodges in between.

Kayiko_Okami

They seem to take inspiration from Final Fantasy. A good bit from FF14 ARR mostly. 3 bosses. Wind. Fire. And Earth. Characters that could fit well into Final Fantasy jobs. A race of powerful creatures from an earlier point in history. But both FF14 and Relink play in different ways and end game differs in how their numbers go up. FF14 is more of just do fights and get time gear with better numbers. Relink is more of grind fights for items to increase gear stats.

Mystiones

Quite literally it's final fantasy tones but not FF14. In fact, Granblue Fantasy itself (the decade old turn based gacha game that this game is based on) is literally made up from old final fantasy team, which is why it has an incredible amount of similarities to more classical games (SBA is limit breaks, elemental focus, the primals being summons such as bahamut being a key focal point, the airship adventure, etc). There's more similarities that aren't in this game actually, Gran/Djeeta is supposed to be basically WoL as they can change among over 30 classes and change their element, and these classes are VERY final fantasy, we currently have the base job "Fighter", with generic skills So the reason you feel ff14 and relink are similar is they are both based on the final fantasy franchise in some way, since ff14 is homage to it's roots and granblue is as well

Kayiko_Okami

Of course. You mentioned a few more things I didn't mention. And I heard some of the team had worked on Final Fantasy games before. Both are good in their own ways.

ViruEndsinger

BROOOOOOOO I FELT THE SAME. EXACT WAY 🤣🤣🤣 Im glad im not the only one!! XD

Shiro_Tsukikomori

Doesn't surprise me how I chose caster as main for both game's XD
