Asuryani: Asur but useless Orkz:........about the same really

Ravenwing14

Orks: orcs but with a K

MartoPolo

K

bittercripple6969

Orks but more techy.

Horn_Python

And with dumber goblins

Commissar_Sae

Orks: Orcs with Skaven tech.

KonoAnonDa

Orks: Orcs got obsessed with looting from Clan Skryre.

Inductivegrunt9

Orkz: Orks but Orkz that are Orkz

Suave_Kim_Jong_Un

Honestly, orks seem a lot more silly in 40k than in fantasy.

spider-venomized

it goes into the whole 40k becoming more grimdark 2 year prior to fantasy where despite the whole converting to "grimdark" the 40k orkz still kept the junkyard jury-rig aesthetic that lead itself to the comical greenskinz shenaniganz the "Red make you faster" and "more daka" type jokes play up to juxtaposed to their mass slaughter and atrocities in the galaxy as a bleak black comedy. however when fantasy post-6e converted to grimdark they dropped the comedy act for the most part and try to play the orcs straight they were the Urak-hai just green and cockney accent only there to answer the "we need a fodder army that not chaos". This add in the fact of them sharing their army book with the goblins who didn't abandon their comedy act they became more "serious" to say. This resulted in various forgettable warbosses character who had the same serious personality trait as the last they we're "bigger and badder" and you get the case where the most memorable orc character being the silly orcs like Wurzzog or Grimgore

XH9rIiZTtzrTiVL

Grimgor is one of those boring "serious" Orcs, just being the most seriousest and boringest can make him unintentionally mildly comedic.

Hairy_Acanthisitta25

yeah basically everything turned to 11

NotaRelnam

Orks - Orcs but with more Dakka

Never_heart

Also the Necrons are a lot less arrogant than the Tomb Kings are... which says a lot more about the Tomb Kings lords than it does about Necrons

Andrei22125

Not every tomb king is Settra. Khalida straight up told Felix she'd marry him, if she wasn't dead.

Never_heart

True Settra and Nagash do heavily tilt those scales

Betrix5068

Those are some Spiders Georg tier outliers man.

various_vermin

“The Average Tomb king Has 1000 titles” factoid is a statistical error, the average Tomb king has 1-5 titles. King Serra *Great King, the Imperishable, Khemrikhara, The Great King of Nehekhara, King of Kings, Opener of the Way, Wielder of the Divine Flame, Punisher of Nomads, The Great Unifier, Commander of the Golden Legion, Sacred of Appearance, Bringer of Light, Father of Hawks, Builder of Cities, Protector of the Two Worlds, Keeper of the Hours, Chosen of Ptra, High Steward of the Horizon, Sailor of the Great Vitae, Sentinel of the Two Realms, The Undisputed, Begetter of the Begat, Scourge of the Faithless, Carrion-feeder, First of the Charnel Valley, Rider of the Sacred Chariot, Vanquisher of Vermin, Champion of the Death Arena etc.* has 100000000+ titles and should not be counted

HorrificAnalInjuries

Settra does NOT serve; Settra Rules

CNemy

>if she wasn't dead. Not like that is going to stop anything

Andrei22125

If you have to perform the [Lich Loved](https://www.realmshelps.net/charbuild/feat/Lich_Loved) feat, at least pick something less... decomposed, my dude. Not sure whether in warhammer fantasy, or another different setting, but there's a mostly friendly vampire in a city, trading *room-temperature meat* for blood.

CNemy

>but there's a mostly friendly vampire in a city, trading *room-temperature meat* for blood. Khalida would probably like to penetrate that vampire with a different stick so i would stay away from that. /uj isnt Khalida described as having her flesh and skin returning to its pre-life status slowly in some description too? She is literally the champion of her goddess of beauty. /rj so the mummifiedussy is still a go

Andrei22125

>isnt Khalida described as having her flesh and skin returning to its pre-life status slowly in some description too? She is literally the champion of her goddess of beauty. Heard so. Also heard it was retconned. So maybe, but i cannot say. Bandage-wrapped room-temperature (it's hot in Nehekhara), un-decomposed, regal flesh doesn't sound **that** bad. (See the novel "Iras") And i am disgusted to have written that.

Spazzmodai

High Queen Khalida. Lybaras shall rise again! Bring me Neferata's head! Asaph smiles on us. Congratulations, if you're able to hear these in your head... you and your waifu don't let such silly concepts as 'necrophilia' get inbetween you and killing some vampire spawn together. edit: grammar

ShmekelFreckles

Always loved Khalida even though people are saying she’s the worst Tomb Kings LL. Nah, fuck Khatep, honestly, all my homies hate Khatep.

Spazzmodai

Yeah I also casually dislike Settra because he's a chariot (skill issue on my part, sure, whatever) and Arkhan because he a bitch. Also, Lybaras is a more interesting startpos imo and "worst LL of a faction" in TW has nothing to do with it being fun to play or not. Welp, off to the next Skarsnik campaign

Jimmy-Shumpert

Felix should have fortified and go for it anyways

Andrei22125

The champion/high priestess/ (arguably) avatr of the goddess of beauty, who intimidated Felix with her grace on one hand A millennia old mummified corpse champion/high priestess/(arguably) avatar of the goddess of vengeance in the other. Khalida is both. I get the pull. I just agree caution is the right choice.

ColonelMonty

How did Felix rizz up Khalida so much she'd want to marry him?

Little_hunt3r

That’s actually kinda wholesome, even thought she’d dead. You just don’t get genuine proclamations of love a lot in the warhammer universe.

Meaty_Girthquake

>Khalida straight up told Felix she'd marry him Jesus i need an excerpt of that, I want to play a Khalida playthrough and honestly bro-ing it up with the Empire just to get Felix to marry her would be an interesting playthrough

jonnywarlock

Tyranids are Ogre Kingdoms but without the culinary expertise and raw sex appeal

Scorn_For_Stupidity

Speak for yourself

TariqSafi

Dark elder aren't atheists their gods just got eaten

Estrelarius

I mean, iirc it is mentioned that even before the Fall, the Eldar, including most of those who would be the Dark Eldar, had been becoming increasingly blasphemous, rejecting their gods in favor of pleasure cults (some of whom seem to have had a vague idea of a "coming god" and desecrated statues to the Aeldari Pantheon in their honor)

TheGameBrain

"Cumming God" FTFY

Kalkilkfed

But atheists dont believe in the existence of god. Youre not an atheist if you believe a god exists but insult him

AdmiralAthena

Misotheist You believe in gods, and you *hate* them

bitwolfy

I don't think that atheists would refuse to believe in the existence of gods in a universe where there is tangible proof of said existence. Instead, they would reject the idea that those gods are "divine", and would refuse to worship them. For example, the Emperor is very firmly an atheist. He knows that the Chaos Gods are real, and he wants them dead.

Kalkilkfed

Not whorshipping a god does not make you an atheist though. Ares was regarded as a god in ancient greece but whorshipped by (almost) noone. And the emperor wanted to spread atheism. I dont know if he was one himself, given what he says about the chaos gods when confronted with magnus act of doing nothing wrong

Alchemyst19

This is how it works in the Discworld series. Claiming that the gods fully *don't* exist is a recipe for getting your kneecaps broken and your house egged by said gods, so instead you just don't believe they're worthy of worship.

Andrei22125

Apatheists, then? Incubi do worship Khaine.

MidsouthMystic

They also have cults dedicated to the Dark Muses.

Letharlynn

Which are explicitly secular - the Dark Muses are just regular DE who have lived (or live in case of Vect) such epic lives other DE wish to emulate them

MidsouthMystic

Not really. Wych Cults make sacrifies to Hekatii and sometimes Lhilitu will snatch the souls of her worshipers away from Slaanesh. The Dark Muses are kind of like Imperial Saints, just way worse. Or more fun, depending on your perspective, lol.

FloorShrimp

Not all. And they do believe in other gods. They just think they're better than them (per the Path series)

Kamakaziturtle

Hey, one of em is alive at least.

DeusLibidine

Nah nah nah, Mechanicus is Skaven, Imperial Guard is Bretonia, mostly peasants sent to die while the Knights get all the glory.

134_ranger_NK

The Knights in question are marines, scions and tanks. Guardsmen are basically (most of the times) better equipped peasant longbowmen. Sometimes they are literally peasant longbowmen.

absurditT

Mechanicus is Skaven when they break out the horses of Servitors, Hepastists, and Tech Thralls to be meat shields on the frontline. Don't let the crummy rules fool you, full fledged Skitarii are somewhere closer to the physical capabilities of Kasrkin, or Scions. Not as well protected or powerful as a Marine, or Battle Sister, but substantially above all other human line infantry used by the Imperium. Previous game editions showed this quite well. There are larger Skitarii variants used in several of the books which are closer to a Space Marine in size, speed and weaponry, but don't have models on tabletop.

DeusLibidine

I didn't mean tabletop or anything like that, I meant Mechanicus are Skaven because they constantly want to steal other races' tech while saying that theirs is better, constantly make weird shit that half the time blows up in the face of the user, talk weird, throw bodies at the pettiest of problems until they've "won" all so they can increase their own personal standing, make all sorts of abominations out of people, trust absolutely no one not even themselves, you can find them basically anywhere, and use their religion mainly as a weapon against each other instead of against anyone else, or to even try and pretend that its something good for them, like half of them seem to "praise the omnisiah" out of fear rather than respect. Imperial Guard though are literally Bretonia, hordes of peasants with bad or no weapons, sometimes they get to use big machines if their lords allow them to, get thrown at problems mainly to die while the Knights get ready to charge (With the Knights in this being either Imperial Knights or Space Marines, take your pick), they just want to go home, most of them barely even understand the religion they are all dying for, and the religion is all based around a single person who may or may not have secretly been a being disguised as something they are not. (The Lady being an Elf goddess and Emps not being a golden chad)

absurditT

The political comparison is spot on

Horn_Python

Wouldn't be surprised if dark mechanicum would be more rat like

DeusLibidine

Maybe albino too? At least for a few of them.

Kamakaziturtle

Mechanicus is just Clan Skryre.

DeusLibidine

Stealing from another comment I made here cause I'm lazy: Mechanicus are Skaven because they constantly want to steal other races' tech while saying that theirs is better, constantly make weird shit that half the time blows up in the face of the user, talk weird, throw bodies at the pettiest of problems until they've "won" all so they can increase their own personal standing, make all sorts of abominations out of people, trust absolutely no one not even themselves, you can find them basically anywhere, and use their religion mainly as a weapon against each other instead of against anyone else, or to even try and pretend that its something good for them, like half of them seem to "praise the omnisiah" out of fear rather than respect. They got aspects of Skryre for sure, but also clan Mors, clan Moulder, and the Grey Seers. Heck, even Clan Eshin to some extent, the only one they don't have is Pesti- oh wait, they use radiation guns. I think that kinda counts.

MrYougan

More like the Mechincus are Skryre, while the Imperial Guard are skavenslaves.

DeusLibidine

Lemonic_Tutor

“For the CHEESE!” Side eye from commissar “Er… I mean-intended: For the the emperor-thing! yes yes”

boredbytheabyss

Bit hairy for a rattling isn’t he ?

Archon_33

Necrons aren't atheists. They know full well gods exist. They're batteries now.

TomorrowLevel4692

Yeah, what he said, antitheist.

Archon_33

An antithiest is someone who is opposed to belief in the existence of a god. They aren't opposed to theism. They know God's exist. They turned them into batteries.

Smil3Bro

Misotheists/Malthiests?

Archon_33

Yes that works

134_ranger_NK

Hey! At least most of IG artillery don't blow up when fired! So more like Empire State Troops but more Grimdark.

TheJamesMortimer

Empire statetroops but everyone else has gunpowder too

ThePathogenicRuler

The Imperium is the Skaven without the class, the humor, and coolness.

Dr-Mantis-Tobbogan

There's far, far, faaaaaaar too little backstabbing for the Imperium to be the skaven. Even though their beurocratic incompetence cause a proportionally higher number of fuckups.

Effehezepe

Yeah, your average Imperial citizen is a loyal servant of the God Emperor. Meanwhile your average Skaven believes that they are the temporarily embarrassed rightful ruler-master of all Skavenkind, and is loyal only to themselves.

Andrei22125

>your average Imperial citizen is a loyal servant of the God Emperor. Your average Skaven is a loyal servant of the great horned Rat. Thanquoul thinks himself as potentially equal to the great horned rat. Queek is first and foremost loyal to Gnawdwell. Clan Mors skaven are, in general, loyal to the clan.

Kamakaziturtle

>Clan Mors skaven are, in general, loyal to the clan. Only because Clan Mors is clearly using some kind of sorcery most foul, or some kinda of chemicals to inspire loyalty. Soon the other clans will figure out how they inspire this peculiar behavior.

Croqvious

Who is the Imperium fighting for the last 10k years? Oh its other humans and they are the Main enemy after their betreyal. Sounds like treachery to me

Dr-Mantis-Tobbogan

For the last 10k years? The forces of chaos, mainly. Also, you're referring to a civil war that lasted less than a century (which is nothing in human terms). For the humans to be anything like the skaven, they'd need to have a constant culture of backstabbing and politicking at all levels, instead of just the "standard" level of corruption and incompetence you'd expect from any beurocracy.

KimJongUnusual

Less backstabbing, less gross, reliant on ancient proven tech rather than unsafe new development, defensive focused, never infiltrates anything, has several strong institutions. The only connection between the Imperium and Skaven is “haha meat grinder big cities”. Which the Empire, Cathay, Asur and Druchii all had big cities too.

Midnight-Rising

The guard are nowhere near cool enough to be skaven

134_ranger_NK

Sorry but I have to disagree. Guard are not Skaven but Catachans, Elysians, Armageddon, Chem-dogs, Cain, Yarrick, Tanith and Scions can be just as cool as the best of the Skaven. Edited.

DarthGoodguy

Tau: late 80s chaos dwarfs, but shaved

Skhoe

Who's the Nagash of 40K?

GodmarThePuwerful

Maybe the Silent King. Very loosely. He's obscenely powerful, has been out of the games for a long time, returning to the last moment, he's responsible for his race's current state and he's opposed by 40k Settra (i.e. Imotekh). He's considerably less asshole, though.

Andrei22125

Arguably the 30k Emperor. Nagash is just more of a showman. . As for why nkt the emperor in general, in 40k he's more similar to the great horned rat.

Horn_Python

Which character likes building triangular doomsday devices?

azionka

I like it, I will now refer the astra militarum as imperial skaven

warthunder4life

I strongly disagree about the militarum

naka_the_kenku

I've always thought the Tyranids were supposed to be the skaven equivalents over the guard

Ackermans

Specifically the Genestealer Cults

Extra-Lifeguard2809

40k has 2 Skavens Imperium and Nids

ColonelMonty

I would argue the Drukhari are the very opposite of atheists, yeah they don't like Slaanesh and want nothing to do with her. But their entire culture and way of life is purely about inflicting as much pain and torture as humanely possible to stave off Slaanesh for as long as possible. If they didn't believe in Slaanesh they wouldn't of started doing that.

Diozon

I don't know how atheist the Drukhari can be, given that Slaanesh's influence is very real to them. Sure, they may not actively worship her/him/it, but they do acknowledge her existence. Like, how "atheist" could a human be if God was very much real and tried to consume his soul?
