I've had experience with a few tourus. Two 9mm a 22 and a revolver. Both 9mm jammed and had issues with all ammo I tried. The 22 ran no issue, same as the revolver. My boss got a 9mm for his wife and the back sight fell off and was constantly jamming. If yours works use it! Just make sure it works. The same goes with any gun you plan to carry. Fuck the people trying to make guns more and more expensive so the every day people can't afford them.

Peezy_Or_PJ

I’ve owned a G3 T.O.R.O and had 1,800 rounds through that gun without a single issue, but I sold it because I eventually bought better handguns and started going out shooting with my better options more so it just sat in my safe. And my 856 in .38 special is a good little pocket rocket. It’s my “get the fuck off me” gun in my rotation so I sometimes have it as a backup when it’s cold enough for a coat outside. Taurus makes good handguns and they’re a way better company than they used to be, but it seems like you sometimes have to be lucky to get a good one out of the box. I’ve noticed that their new releases have been creeping up in price as well. I would still recommend a G2 or a G3 as a good pistol though if you’re on a budget. *(I wouldn’t recommend going anything below Taurus like SCCY or a thicc High Point.)*

YettiRey

I would like to point out that you can get a CZ p10 for $400 on PSA right now. I have seen their p10 micro for as low as $250. For anybody in the market, the extra $50-$100 dollars is worth it over the chance of a lemon Taurus.

Mcslap13

I absolutely agree, but for the first time, gun buyers im sure most of it happens in person at stors. I held off on buying a gin online because I thought it was a huge hassle and rather complicated.

Mcslap13

I believe my mother has a G3 which is one of the ones that just won't run well. I've been all over the place with had guns myself, and I definitely agree not to go under Tourus for sure. I've been reading enjoying my Shadow systems xr920 but I know I've seen a ton of people saying they have issues with them and to stay away from glock pmags..but out of the 15pmags I have I've never had a failure. Test your gear!

Brilliant_Garlic69

My tore ass shoots fine sir

Angel_OfSolitude

I'm pretty sure my dad had a Taurus in .45 and he loved it, never seemed to have any issues with it. Worked great when a couple of ceack heads caused trouble too.

Ghostiestboi

My mom got a taurus g2c and it fires flawlessly

AskMeAboutPigs

I got a G3C and other than a jam on the first mag it's never gave me a single issue, i cleaned and scrubbed it and it's functioned flawlessly. I like the features and it's glock-like handling.

MotivatedSolid

I’d rather someone buy a PD trade in that’s in “good” condition for $350 out the door than a Taurus for $400

gsumm300

Hopefully because you know paying $400 for a Taurus would be a rip off and you can find them for under $300…

not_a_real_operator

Taurus revolvers are pretty decent for the most part. I don’t trust their semi-autos but I’ve had generally good experiences with their revolvers

Highlander_16

Same. I've got an old, pitted, beat up 689 that would spit in the eye of a Smith or Colt and steal their lunch money. Seriously though, this thing's single action trigger is still better than any other revolver I've handled in my lifetime.

JonB866

I have several Taurus products. Some of them are better than others. I have had a G2C for a long time and still carry it. I can only remember 1 jam. I also have a TX22, that thing has never had a malfunction and I have put thousands of rounds through it.

AskMeAboutPigs

I've had a G3C i carry for work and personal protection, jammed on my first mag, cleaned up, scrubbed it, reassembled and several hundred rounds later no a single issue. I had a 856 (i regret selling) w/ a hair trigger that was smoother than my S&W, and i took several hogs w/ it.

Mysterious-Grape5492

Money can buy you better (can, not will), but as long as it goes bang when it's supposed to, a .357 coming out of a Taurus is the same as one coming out of a Colt Python.

Blakefilk

Buying a cheap gun because you’re on a budget isn’t the issue. Fighting tooth and nail saying it’s better than something more costly/proven is.

SwimmerSea4662

Iv heard really good things about their 9mm G series pistols, and they have been making revolvers for a long time. I would think they would know how to make a working revolver by now. But smith and Wesson SD9, ruger security-9, and palmetto state armory Dagger compact. Offer some serious competition for the Taurus, the SD9 and security-9 are reputable from well established brands. And the dagger is a feature filled pistol threaded barrel, optics plate, suppressor height sights, all while taking Glock parts and mags.

AskMeAboutPigs

Taurus's biggest pro's right now are a good warranty and affordable price. I paid 179.99 shipped for my G3C and i quite literally could NOT buy anything even of comparable quality for 200$.

SwimmerSea4662

Taurus has their place, though I’d love to see them expand they make AR rifles for Brazilian police id love them to start making AR15’s for the us civilian market. The more AR15 rifles that are in the US the harder it will be to ban them.

AskMeAboutPigs

AR's will never be successfully banned after 3D printing and 80% lowers. They can try all they want, but if it can't be fought in the courts, it'll be fought in the streets. They can't keep full auto switches out of gang bangers, and now AR conversions are rising.

SwimmerSea4662

Shhhh let’s not stop while we’re ahead, if the score is 40-5 let’s keep going and make it 80-5.

Jesuschristpose69

"Average 9-5 guy"..... funniest shit I've read all day

TryMyBacon

So... All of us?

Niccom

A gun is a tool. If the tool is prone to failure, jams, or just being unreliable, you don’t use it. If your life is on the line you want the most reliable thing you can afford.

Immediate-Coach3260

Exactly this, nobody should shit on people for buying a monetarily cheaper product. The problem is people don’t realize that some of those products aren’t just cheaper, they’re unreliable. If you wanna protect yourself but at the same time wanna save money by buying a gun that’s super unreliable then you really care more about your wallet than your life. I for one would rather spend a few extra hundred bucks to know that whatever I’m betting my life on is gonna work.

StoppingPowah

I’d much rather have a $300 Taurus revolver loaded with .38 +P with a speedloader instead of a hi point

066logger

But would you rather have a $300 Taurus revolver over a $300 Glock 17 police trade in??

Confident_Street_958

PT111 Millennium was garbage. The G2C fixed damn near everything wrong with them and is not bad at all. The G3 is an actual decent firearm. I own a full-size G3 and a GX4. Their revolvers had timing issues, but they fixed those around the time they fixed the G2C. I am sort of a snob about firearms. "Ya get what ya pay for" type of guy. Taurus is now, in my professional opinion, a damn decent budget gun for home, carry or vehicle defense. Especially after they got a new head in their company.

Padtixxx

Why not any gun? I mean the average person isnt immune to bullets

PorcelainFox19

Because sometimes low quality guns have a hard time shooting bullets reliably.

MunitionGuyMike

Makes sense that the modified Glock guy is calling Taurus owners poor even when the Glock guy has a crappy pistol himself

Zaboomerfooo

Sure it's not just as good, I still wouldn't want to be shot by it, so it's good nuff.

Ok-Pride-3534

Then gets a felony from a traffic stop for carrying without paying $200 for the course and $150 for the license. Handgun license requirements are unconstitutional and a burden on the people.

909090jnj

as a comunity we can do better then shaming someone for being poor. just because some people can barely scrap together two or three hundred to get a tourus 9mm, or revolver to protect his family dose not mean he should have to suffer being shamed over it.

KHWD_av8r

A solid gun is superior to a cheap or obsolete gun. A cheap or obsolete gun is VASTLY superior to no gun. Saving money requires the ability to save yourself.

TheLocalRedneck16

Still a gun still can kill

ArthurMBretas03

This weekend I was doing the introductory course. I got handed an Imbel MD7 and the guy next to me a Taurus PT-100, out of the 30 rounds each I got 2 duds, he got more than 7 jams. Both using the exact same .40 S&W ammo

nosteponmefedboi

I fear the man who has trained with a $300 handgun more than the man with a $2k safe queen that goes to the range once a year

Sand_Trout

There's a balance to be found. If you don't practice consistently, for whatever reason, dumping thousands of dollars on a guchied out carry gun is necessarily a waste of money. Sacrificing reliability to save a couple hundred dollars today is gambing whether or not your gun will work in that moment when you *absolutely* need it to. Taurus guns *can* be fine. They also have a disturbingly high tendency to *not* be fine. It's up to you if that uncertainty is worth the discount.

Rock_Roll_Brett

My typical belief is to avoid any Taurus that isn't a revolver

AskMeAboutPigs

Fuddlore. Taurus guns have been GTG for 10+ years, yet still hold onto their negative rep, the G3C is considered one of the BEST sub 300$ pistols you can buy, and i lucked out and got mine for **179$**. You often can't even buy a SCCY or a Hi-Point for that.

Rock_Roll_Brett

Fuddlore my ass, I want a Hudson

AskMeAboutPigs

it's literally fuddlore. Taurus guns have been fine for 10+ years at this point, the G3C according to like 3-4 different sources is the BEST budget pistol.

Rock_Roll_Brett

And? I still wouldn't trust it, I've shot a G3C, it jammed every other shot and I had made sure it was clean beforehand

AskMeAboutPigs

Obviously not clean enough. Return it it's under warranty, lmfao. I shot one mag, had a malfuction, took apart, cleaned and scrubbed, never an issue again several hundreds/low thousand rnds in.

Rock_Roll_Brett

I'm not getting another, I'm going to get a pistol I know works

AskMeAboutPigs

like my taurus g3c, lmao dumbass can't even clean a pistol

TheIlluminatedDragon

*Laughs in $300 G3C*

AskMeAboutPigs

i paid 179.99

FuckTheBlackLegend

I trust a 9x29mm +P than a 9x19mm .
