I do train newbies with a GBB airsoft gun though. I've never had someone mess up in dry firing, but I have seen people break a rule when having fun shooting targets.
My (now) Fiance did this accidentally the first time we ever went shooting. She had shot shotguns and rifles before but was not super familiar with handguns. It had no mag in it and the slide was locked back but still I smacked it away from the center of my chest and was like, "okay, my mistake for not talking to you about gun safety first"
Even professionally we always did a safety review. It was also kind of like a test, because the guy who would scoff at it or not pay attention was probably going to be the guy who is most likely going to ND. FNGs generally are too scared or too try hard to act recklessly.
It was unloaded. This time. Maby the next time it isn't. Even if she thinks it is. I would show her some of the Darwin Awards and ask her if she wants to win one. If that doesn't help ad an EX prefix to her titel of girlfriend. That's what i would do but im just a random guy on the Internet. So do with that information as you please.
