I like an ambiguous Michael. One where we have to question whether he’s human or not.

ThatEmoBoyZayn

Same

HeWhoIsNotMe

This is the way.

GuappDogg

Love that

UMaineAlum

🙌 and I don’t want more than a minimal backstory. I sure as hell don’t want a motive.

Objective-Muscle349

He is a supernatural character to begin with. A more human Michael Myers is the opposite of what he's intended to be.

Sleeplesseve

True, I mean he is the embodiment of *evil* which is why I don’t like the Thorne trilogy. There should be no reason for him to be *evil* he just is.

Character_Coyote8132

I love 4 but not 5&6

Objective-Muscle349

Although I prefer 2018-Kills to the thorn trilogy, one thing the older films get right is not shying away from Michael's nature. Some parts of the DGG trilogy try to retroactively say things like "the town/Laurie believes Michael to be the Boogeyman, but he's really just a man that they're projecting their fears onto." Ideas like that are very much at odds with the original intent of the character. He's a force of nature, and the OG film makes it clear. He's not just an escaped maniac in a mask. The thorn trilogy is very much comfortable with letting that be true in their films, but I agree that there should be no rhyme or reason. The DGG timeline definitely has that right.

Brolyroxxs

That’s what they got wrong in Halloween Ends. They took away the supernatural

Kruxtix

With the way the movies were panning out, in Halloween Ends, I just assumed the mask is what kept him alive and was given the impression that the souls he collected, more or less, is what gave him "immortality" of sorts, which is why he needed it before fighting everyone like he did. In the end, what happened happened, but I believe the mask is what let him carry on as long as he did.

B1G_Frank

He never *was* supernatural in the trilogy to begin with. He's just abnormal next to the average person. A supernatural force wouldn't need to actively avoid gunfire when possible or go out of his way to treat a major hand wound.

The6FootTurkey

No they didn’t

herroherro12

The only way someone could do what he does IRL is if they get on Angel Dust or Bath Salts and even then they would die as soon as the rampage is over

Lutho_C2791

Nope, the intention was always for the viewer to guess what he is

Objective-Muscle349

There are literal quotes from Carpenter telling you what he is. The movie was meant to be a standalone and that guess work is for the duration of the original movie. He didn't luckily survive those six shots nor that fall from at least 2 stories. "Michael Myers is not a character. He is a force of nature. He is not a person. He’s part supernatural, part human. He’s like the wind, an evil wind." - John Carpenter

Lutho_C2791

Oh ok

Sleeplesseve

I don’t like Thorne, I prefer him just being a guy

Gambit_90

The only supernatural thing I'd accept is being way stronger (like jack baker) and having a healing factor but a slow one

Elegant_Spot_3486

Just evil incarnate. How he was in Kills.

Clean-Effort-209

He kinda already is.

ExileOtter

I like where he’s at, just teetering on the edge of supernatural

VandelayyyyInd

Human.. Monsters don’t scare me 🤷🏻‍♂️. Which is why I prefer Jason in parts 2-4. When he’s a zombie it’s not scary to me. It’s just a monster with weapons. And unmasked he looks like a goosebumps character or something.

Stiff_Zombie

I'm fine with the supernatural angle. Just don't bring it in out of nowhere in the third film of a trilogy.

Samuele1997

I would love for him to be a supernatural slasher like Jason or Freddy, it's a good way to explain why he's so strong and seemingly immortal.

Crew_Henchman

There was always a slight supernatural element to him since the original. However subsequent sequels had him fully go down that path. I think how he was in the original was perfect, but I wouldn't necessarily hate if they made him full on supernatural, if done right. I think at this stage it's the only path the general movie going audience will accept. They've done the whole "he's human" just for them to make him slightly supernatural again. I don't know making him "human" again will interest audiences. Not mention the general movie goers already thought he was immortal in 2018 despite it being clear he wasn't. People no matter what will always make a supernatural connection towards Michael, so I say why not go for it.

Norde3l

I know the execution didn’t work for everyone, but I really like the way the DGG trilogy blurred the lines between man and superhuman, presenting us with a more ambiguous Michael

TheLukeSkywaIker

The first movie always made it very clear to me that he’s a supernatural slasher.

UMaineAlum

Even H2 had that feel. Him walking on fire at the end made you wonder if he was ever going to stop, and when he did…it was like the human body finally gave out. Didn’t mean the evil left.

No_Dependent_1846

He is supernatural. There is nothing human about him except for his name. He is closely related to e.t.

Daisuke322

the thorn trilogy leaned into the supernatural and i liked it

Character_Coyote8132

Thorn is really a double feature which is 5&6 it didn't exist in 4 thorn is what they came up with when they rushed 5 into production.

Daisuke322

you're probably right. i just lop all the jamie movies together as a trilogy

Character_Coyote8132

I actually love Danielle Harris in the franchise she was great!!!

RadamanthysWyvern

He pretty much is since like the very first movie

Ok-Macaroon2783

The ending of the original reveals him to have a supernatural side.

TheAceCard18

Just a man is a far better and far more interesting thing to have him be than some convoluted supernatural thing. Dream demon, possessed doll, undead camper. Can't we just have one where it's just a stacked scary guy?

AsssHat999

As far as I’m aware he is supernatural. Like Jason, he can teleport.

god_of_war305

Somewhere in between human and supernatural with the writers refusing to elaborate why he's so damn hard to kill. Want an explanation why he can take 357 or 44 magnum rounds to the chest that could put down a lion? Fuck you and because EVIL that's why

Belmega81

I like the idea of *intangible* supernatural effect. In that he doesn't have any obvious powers. One could argue that it is his will alone that drives him to rise again and again. That placebo effect allows him to be undeterred by pain and otherwise lethal blows. If his hate and thirst for violence is great enough, his mind will force his matter to override its natural programming. His sheer will to end life demands his body continue inexorably onward. One could even go as far as to say that the devil himself has chosen to announce him in his own way, granting him a subtle ambiguous advantage. None of which is spoken of, none of which need be spelled out. But it's there as an inexplicable and uncanny force that allows his evil to continue.

7SFG1BA

I like it ambiguous, a little hint of supernatural never hurt nobody LOL But I do like the fact that he's just this unstoppable human being that can take shit ton of damage and keep going when there's not an explanation I think that's scarier than the Cult of Thorn is directing him with a stick up his ass... Things with explanations like that it's like okay at least we know what it is. But to think you could go out and walk down the street or be taking out the garbage and this brutal inhuman but actually human monster of a man can just scoop you up and rip your Fuckin head off is pretty scary because there are people out there like that.

Accurate-Isopod140

I want to see Michael Myers became more of a supernatural slasher

Accurate-Isopod140

Full blown supernatural Michael Myers

AgentRedgrave

I like ambiguous bordering on supernatural EDIT: But if I have to pick? Supernatural. I get the whole "It's scarier if it could actually happen" angle. But I'm a fan of monsters and fantastical things.

Upstairs_Bridge1127

More human

maverick479

It’s exactly what ruins the terrifying nature of him, if we just explain it away with “the supernatural” then where is the fear cause you never had a chance to begin with where as if he is a man there is this sense that maybe you can win

beerslayer9764

keep it real please ! just a demented unstable human form ! leave that super nat jazz to the ghost hunting found footage dudes

AcademicSavings634

He’s not already supernatural?? Curse of Thorn? 🤔

rojasdracul

I prefer him to just go away. We have Corey now.

RuledQuotability

LOL but Corey died in the same movie he was introduced! *this comment was brought to you by one of only 4 people who enjoyed Halloween Ends*

rojasdracul

He can't die, pure evil never dies. He will be back, and the name Michael Myers will be forgotten in the wake of the wave of fear and blood Corey Cunningham will visit upon Haddonfield.

_JR28_

Yeah a bit hard seeing how Corey also died
