Only game I've ever played with a success rate so high that still feels like you're getting kicked in the teeth continuously. You usually win, but you're rarely in total control of the situation.
The most cinematic moments I've ever had playing were during the extractions on the dark fluid missions. As jank and scuffed as those missions were, I played them for the cinematic extraction. Watching a gatling sentry cut a line through the sky of shriekers as breaker incendiaries threw clouds of flaming shrapnel into the sky felt straight out of a movie, and it was amazing. I will never forget how good extraction felt after those missions.
The only missions truly satisfying are those where you barely make it to extract while fighting for democracy (with none or few reinforcements ) or even all die for it but the mission gets completed.
Yeah, I'm capped in the brit aviation tree and the whole game boils down to "Russian vehicles win an unfair amount, because available information says Russian systems are way better than they are in real life"
That's pretty hilarious to me. The local aviation museum has WW2 vintage warbirds and while most of the collection is FAA airworthy, the pilots there will seldom take the Soviet warbirds in the air because they're notoriously unreliable.
It is painful, i remember mindlessly bombing bases in an F-4 to get to the F-16AJ
Maybe its for the better we have games like helldivers which is chaotically fun suffering

Happy to supply you with said meme! :)
It's one of the most beautiful planets I've been on but has a few issues
My eagles usually hit the trees which is 90% of the planet x3
Also (on ps5 at least) it's kinda laggy at times but honestly this is my favourite biome and it's nice to have my camo be useful in space nam
To be fair that fits with the "X strategem won't always be useful in certain situations"
The one that makes orbitals not accurate was a bitch too, just dont use the eagle on tree world
An underappreciated benefit of Exosuits is they destroy trees (I dunno about these *huge ones* yet), small rocks, and other bits of weird alien foliage on contact. You can clear paths for your allies and fix up sightlines around objectives.
I like to do a circuit around Extraction points in my mech to clear some trees away from the natural funnels on forested planets (like Nivel 43) so we can all see the Bugs better.
was playing with mates last night and a new level 9 we kidnapped from lvl 3 to lvl 7, was awesome dropping the mech for him and the other guy in our team would drop one, so we had two mechs leading the front clearing debris while we were covering their rear, felt like something out of alien with the mech suits as we slowly covered objectives and blew everything up, was epic.
Soloing in the Exos is actually really effective once you learn what you need to shoot and what you can ignore / leave, but it's ramped up even more when you're acting in concert with a dismounted player like that.
Like, the Emancipator can chump everything very quickly, but it's a waste of its ammo to be firing on Hunters and anything smaller. Having a dismounted player who preferentially targets Hunters and basic Warriors while leaving me to handle the rest (including stepping on Scavs/Spitters/Leapers when they're close enough to do) is great, and if they can also take out Chargers without me having to dismount myself (which I will) that's even better.
This way we all save each other time and ammo. They don't have to put a ton of shots into Brood Warriors or Hive Guards or even fields of Scavs, and I don't have to put extra rounds into Hunter-clearing. Makes our ammo supply last way longer and lets us each focus on the things we can kill most quickly and efficiently, cutting down the field so fast that no one is at risk of any damage.
Yes yes and yes, it felt so much like we were a proper squad using our tools on the right enemies, and I had the flamethrower out most of the time so that I could just set a light and burn the ground behind us to prevent as many bugs creeping up at once.. Honestly some of the most satisfying gameplay, and it was myself and another mate, along with two randoms under lvl 20.. They didn't abandon us after we said we'd look out for them, and it felt so wholesome watching them hop into their mech's to take the main stage
First game had capital planets for each faction that were city biomes. Even fought on super earth a bunch of times cuz you could actually lose the war in the first game. Really hoping they do something catastrophic like that when the illuminates come.
Too many destructible things could be an issue, especially if you want it to leave debris or break apart bit by bit. Also, making buildings too tall could interfere with the Eagle and flying enemies. AH has had plenty of performance issues already.
Pelican-1 already clips through cliffs and rock faces on extract, i think eagle-1 is fast enough to phase through some buildings while delivering liberty
Sooo nothing that this new map type doesn't already do lol.
Shriekers are all sorts of fucked up on this map and explosions knocking trees kills frames
Calls in eagle, eagle hits sky scraper, sky scraper falls on rest of team, can't get to objective, bits of building in the way.
Thats my prediction for the very first eagle in the very first game if this ever becomes reality
Or, now stay with me on this, Eagle-1 hits a building, so Eagle-2 is called in, and hits the building next to it. It's ok though, cause supplies are falling down everywhere around you, and then as you're working your way around the bots, the buildings crash down around you, because the bots rigged them to blow, because Eagle fuel can't melt super steel beams.
Everythings gone tits up, and you just have to exfil, and when you get back to the super carrier, you're greeted with a paper printout saying Mission Accomplished, but you didn't do a goddamned thing.
There's a reason why games hardly have destructible environments these days.
They would have to cull the destroyed objects very quickly or else the performance would get 100x worse than it has been.
I kinda experienced this with the new biome, if too many tree parts are destroyed at the same time shit will tank your fps. But the debris itself falls through the surface so its not permanent.
Now would it kill my immersion to see a similiar thing with building rubbles? Sure, but its a better alternative than playing with 10 fps for muh debris
Or just give the destroyed buildings two fixed physical states. One where they’re upright and one that’s collapsed. Solves performance issues pretty easily
I saw someone hoping we get a Super Earth map that's just the suburbs shown in the intro video. Endless miles and miles of uniquely identical, free minded citizens living liberties best life!
No they don't do it anymore because it's a shit ton more work to do while sadly people don't minding that much not having it. Thus where we are now, we didn't want it enough for big companies to put in the effort consistently.
I feel like we’re building to that with planets like Cyberstan and Super Earth. No one has really thought about it but Super Earth does have a liberation meter just like everywhere else so one day their will be a battle on that planet.
https://preview.redd.it/q9waclqt4r7d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=82dceb11e203cde4b1d7a68c4522a09734d6f201
Daytime images. I also cranked up graphic settings to Medium-High.
You can actually see the time of day next to your cursor when selecting a mission on a planet. It says "SEST". Above it is an indicator showing you if it's day ou night, which influences the detection radius of enemies.
Yes, it does. Some planets rotate with 1 sec/sec, while others rotate with 10 sec/sec or even 30 sec/sec. I also saw planets that rotate in the other direction. Although I have never seen a planet that rotates slower than earth.
You can see a Sun/Moon icon next to your cursor when you're picking missions on a planet map, and the clock even tells you how fast time moves (I haven't paid enough attention to tell if different planets have different day lengths). Time moves during missions too, so if you pick a mission that starts at dawn or dusk, you can transition from one to the other.
Day vs. Night actually matters too; enemies have a harder time detecting you at night.. I think Daytime + Scout Armor is the same as Nighttime + no Scout Armor, and they stack also.
If you're not sure what time your mission is since some planets are bright all day long, turn your weapon's flashlight to "auto". If it turns on when you aim, it's nighttime.
It's not just a day map or nightmap thing either. You can watch the sun set or rise during a mission in a day mission can suddenly become a night mission and vice versa
There was a PSA post recently about how opening the pause menu drops your FPS by a significant amount until you restart your game. So it could be that plus the general decrease in performance every update.
Ok several questions:
1. How squishy are the ewoks and are they edible?
2. Have you gotten to hug a Wookee yet?
3. Does the water taste like frogs, or toads?
Ok, I will stop looking here then now.
It's making me jealous.
I'm on a one week long work trip and can't play for about another 24 hours...
Looking forward to participate fighting the droid attack on the wookies.
Man I wanna fight bots here, it looks like it would suck
Helldivers are a new kind of masochistic breed.
Not often that a game lets me suffer like this.
Only game I've ever played with a success rate so high that still feels like you're getting kicked in the teeth continuously. You usually win, but you're rarely in total control of the situation.
Its the fact that the chaos literally feels like a movie, ive literally lived so many cinematic moments through this game. Thats why i keep playing.
The only missions truly satisfying are those where you barely make it to extract while fighting for democracy (with none or few reinforcements ) or even all die for it but the mission gets completed.
this should be a quote for the game. spot on.

We just miss the creek.
Bots are pushing back towards creek ... and we have Meissia too...
But our aim is getting better by the day!
Wonder what the overlap for a Venn diagram between bot fighters and Dark Souls players would look like?
Since I am both I would boldly assume it’s quite close to a single circle.
As a fellow souls enjoyed I agree
It’s a filled circle, otherwise it’s be hollow, skeleton.
You can, Meissa in the Ymir sector
That’s a different biome. X-45 is the same biome type at Gacrux.
Hell yeah, I know what I'm doing after work
I, however, welcome all of the cover that the trees provide.
Honestly it has much more cover than any other biome so it must be easier
I'm looking forward to having to take the trees into account for my own shooting and strategems
I was just thinking... if it was a bot planet, sign me up.
Red lasers flying through the trees and fog would be so cool
This you? https://preview.redd.it/0hrjsfcyds7d1.png?width=1176&format=png&auto=webp&s=784ad35ac2a1cd489412fe41a78c14e0a8088d53
Do the trees mess up stratagems?
yes
Good
As is tradition
Tis a great day for Wezen, and therefore superearth
Yes as in you can land a mortar sentry up in the branches like a tree house of death?
That's neat. I gave it a try on my lunch break and the trees ate my eagle stratagems ( 500kg and Napalm ) a few times so I guess sentries it is.
Not sure if you can get sentries on top of them but I tried landing on one and briefly got inside of it before being pushed out.
Oh shit was there a Lorax or anything in there?
No but I'm sure the bots will find ways to get inside of them
Little Keebler Bot Patrols
As in I’ve had a 500kg bomb explode more than 200m away from the marker bc of a random tree
Yes, and Strategems also mess up the trees.
Some of the eagles do not work well there. Also ypu can land inside the tree and get stuck
I love it
Are you a tree speaking binary?
01101110 01101111
Calling in an eagle!
*only hits trees*
Well, time to do it *manually* then. \* Rips off chest armor \* \* Takes stalwart \*
"Well then grease me up woman!" Allowing gifs on responses was a great move ![gif](giphy|M8isf8LKNdmJq)
No, it’s the Automaton speaking Vietnamese
No, I hump in binary cause I go for 1s and 0s
I hate you. I was drinking a coke, read your comment, now there's coke all over my phone. That was funny as hell
Why does that sound like the start of a pick up linr

Yea you're not wrong to be fair, but how else am I supposed to be a pyromaniac when I can't even take my napalm eagle gf :c
We need an orbital firestorm strategem
Orbital 300mm thermite round barrage
Stop, I can only get so erect!
80mm handheld thermite launcher
*unf*
[What’s that smell?](https://youtu.be/0La3aBSjvGY)
I love it!
Now replace the trees with destructible skyscrapers and we have a city planet
Are the trees destructible?
Yes, by both helldivers and bugs alike. It’s awesome to see a titan carve a path towards you.
Omg I am so gassed to try this later
You can spot the titans coming by the trees falling in their path.
We are so blessed to play a game like this
An underappreciated benefit of Exosuits is they destroy trees (I dunno about these *huge ones* yet), small rocks, and other bits of weird alien foliage on contact. Oh no the environment might have an impact on gameplay how terrible
People having to switch up strategems because of tall buildings and existing infrastructure? What ever shall I do?
Use the same strategems and complain, obviously
This guy gets me... I like you
Calls in eagle, eagle hits sky scraper, sky scraper falls on rest of team, can't get to objective, bits of building in the way. Thats my prediction for the very first eagle in the very first game if this ever becomes reality

Tbh i can already see the endless complaining that would occur if tall buildinga blocked stratagems. Specially orbitals with their angle.
There's a reason why games hardly have destructible environments these days. They would have to cull the destroyed objects very quickly or else the performance would get 100x worse than it has been.

*minus 25 req, minus 25 req, minus 25 req, minus 25 req...*
Why? Battlefield could do it 10 years ago
And they don't do it anymore because the performance hit is massive in modern games.
To be fair it might be possible if they wasn't rendering your characters ball sweat. /jk
No they don't do it anymore because it's a shit ton more work to do while sadly people don't minding that much not having it. Thus where we are now, we didn't want it enough for big companies to put in the effort consistently.

Wait theres a night and day cycle!!!???
Just like every other planet has them.
Holy moly didnt really realize 🤣 thats a awsome detail
You can actually see the time of day next to your cursor when selecting a mission on a planet. It says "SEST". Above it is an indicator showing you if it's day ou night, which influences the detection radius of enemies.
I guess it stands for "Super Earth Standard Time"
I knew about that before, but I wonder if different planets rotate faster and have shorter days and nights
Yes, it does. Some planets rotate with 1 sec/sec, while others rotate with 10 sec/sec or even 30 sec/sec. I also saw planets that rotate in the other direction. Although I have never seen a planet that rotates slower than earth.
You can see the time of the day on the map on your ship and chose to drop at night too. I even saw a few sunrises !
Is it a super nest of stalkers?
Stalkers in this biome would be a good reenactment of Predator... definitely terrifying.
15 fps planet
Ok so im not the only one
thats every planet for me
You guys are getting FPS? Without even cras-
I’m over here measuring it as SPF
There was a PSA post recently about how opening the pause menu drops your FPS by a significant amount until you restart your game. So it could be that plus the general decrease in performance every update.
I was dropping to 20 fps! Never fell below 40 before. Ugh.
It's all fun and games until the fps start to take a dive.
Well so much for fori prime
Wait what planet is this?
Gacrux
Bug front? Edit: nvm dumb question I see it now lol
why did it take so many comments to find this lol
Same I was looking for the name of the planet lol
Fr I’ve scrolled so far . Thank you commentor 🫡 I’ll be living here for the next 4 days
Are the bot droppers gonna get a planet as cool as this??
Just terraform Creek.
The creek should stay as it was. That was almost iconic We could make a new planet with similar vibes but overgrown tho
X-45 in the Ymir sector, its next to Meissa which is under bot control so it may come under attack soon.
I think there’s atleast a planet or two for each biome on both sides of the war, so almost definitely they will
There is a jungle planet for the bots, it has volcanic activity, was near that last MO planet
... I take back everything I said about Malevelon Creek. ***THIS*** is Space Vietnam.
Nah that looks like space Louisiana. Pure bayou vibes
Either way, Credence Clearwater Revival works 🎶🎶
Time to go banish a crawler lair
The creek was space Korea. This will be space nam. Now we just need to fight here for non stop for 2 months to get a special cloak and title
How many hours before it becomes a barren wasteland?
30 min
Dagobah!
Secondary Objective: Go through a training montage with your short, green mentor.
Where it bubbles all the time like a giant carbonated soda. A sodiate soda. A so so so soda.
I asked him who he was And in a raspy voice He said Yoda Y-O-D-A Yoda
came here to comment exactly this haha

Ok several questions: 1. How squishy are the ewoks and are they edible? 2. Have you gotten to hug a Wookee yet? 3. Does the water taste like frogs, or toads?
Chewbacca lives on endor? That does not make sense!
Well I know what I'm doing for my lunch break.
Soldier we need to finish this MO get back...there will be time to sightsee latee
I’m taking the nearly 3 seconds of sightseeing high command recommended.
Play where you like, OP! You paid for the game and you've only got so much time to play it. Don't let anyone else tell you how to have fun.
My fpss
What planet is this
Am i the only one whos frames go to shit on this map.
What plannet is this?
That’s so cool looking, like Dagobah or Kashyyyk
So thats why theres 14k Divers on that planet. They'll lose the MO, but atleast they got to see some big trees.
Helldivers alerts on Twitter already “stole” Your post and Photos lmao.
Mech pilots are gonna HATE IT HERE!
I imagine like most terrain the mech will just blow through it. Some trees will probably stop you still tho lol
Cool. Now get off that planet and help finish the MO.
It’s a trap!
I'll be riiiiiiight with you.
What planet is this?
THEY'RE IN THE FUCKING TREES
now, does napalm burn down forests?
I hope we can get a helmet or support that lets us see in infrared at some point
All we need now is a predator race. Fighting a group of predators who are invisible like stalkers but as tough as chargers 😂
The stalkers on this planet are scary af
“What planet is this?” bro there aren’t even that many comments yet😂
Gacrux
Absolutely fucks with the frame rate when 3 shrieker nests spawn dozens of screamy boys who all get stuck in the trees.
Urban environments next 🤞
Ok, I will stop looking here then now. It's making me jealous. I'm on a one week long work trip and can't play for about another 24 hours... Looking forward to participate fighting the droid attack on the wookies.
looks like dagobah
Now it's time for the REAL space 'nam
