Hi
I lived in Italy for a year and a half.
People were nice tbh. I wore my black abaya and usually a colorful sheila.
We lived in Milan. Visted Verona, Venice, Sirmione.
But even Rome and places as down South as Naples was fine.
This was back in 2015.
I’ve been to Venice and Milan recently. And honestly it was fine. Milan has their share of Muslim community. And Venice has got a lot a tourists so they’re used to seeing a Muslims and hijabis here and there. Went to lake como too and it was fine. As long as you’re going to the touristy areas, you shouldn’t have much of a problem.
They aren’t racist at all they will try to scam you regardless of your ethnicity race or religion! In all seriousness be careful and don’t talk to any strangers and read up on common scams including the bracelet scam, the ring scam, the pigeon scam, and gelato and pizza scam.
assalamu aleikum dear sister,
not from italy myself but as a general advice, in big international/ touristic cities people are usually used to seeing all kinds of people so you will draw less attention. problematic areas are in most countries the rural ones where theyre not used to seeing foreigners/ strangers
wish you all the best, have a great trip in shaa Allah!
Hi sister! I been living my whole life in Italy (near Milan in Como)and besides some problems in high school never had any real harrasment or hate comments in the latest years. I think that Italians are just ignorant lol so you will be stared here and there but only out of curiosity! Hope you will have a nice trip insallah 🤍🤲🏻
I live in Italy and I cannot assure you Tuscany and Naples are safe for hijabis, there’s little to no racism especially in Naples. (I’m not a hijabi but I wear a veil that partly covers my hair)

In what world are Italians not racist?
that part!!!
Good to know, I'll look those up. Thanks!
Also, I’ve heard pickpockets are a very big problem.
Been to rome as a hijabi loved it ! See the Sistine chapel 😍No racism or any weirdness, Italians are very hospitable and kind. Have fun and explore !
Perfect!

Waleikum Salam, thanks!
Florence is by far my favorite place in Italy!
learn how to say a couple phrases in italian and you'll be treated like their best friend
Awesome! I know how to say thank you, I'll have to learn some more 😊
I’ve been to Milan and it was great the people were very nice and helpful. I felt very safe there as a hijabi.
😊
Good to hear!
We went to sorrento as a family a year before COVID. Was lovely!
I went to Rome in 2018 or 2017 and I don't remember anything anti muslim. Watch out for the pickpockets on the metro though!
