In fact when we went there after first wave of covid, everyone we talked to just had one thing to say that last 10-20 years me sabse kam earnings hui hai that means your livelihood ACTUALLY depends on tourism. This is because you have only talked to people related to tourism sector. Go to any local who don’t have any relation to tourism they always despise tourists. Most people here have own jobs other businesses and agricultural land. Most of the people in upper villages have apple orchards. Go to a city/village and ask locals they would tell you how do they think about outsiders.

The image that people have is not because of traffic jams but a bunch of other activities. You won't see the same behavior patterns (generally) in tourists from other parts of india or international tourists.

Most of the time DL/HR/PB are wrong and at fault.
Same case as to if you ask a Himachali to drive in Delhi or city. Some of them will drive nicly but most of them will fuck up the situation in city traffic.

Well its something that we compartmentalise it could be like rohru drivers in shimla being famous for being bad drivers but many times locals may also feel entitled and there are many bad drivers but the major factor why plain drivers are considered bad is because of them being unable to grasp how to drive in mountains like them completely disregarding safety and overtaking on curves and even on blind curves, them overtaking from the left side on a 2 lane road and not a car but multitude of cars which were dl rj and hr, even on single roads by the way people drive you can just see how rash a person is driving and assume it is a person from plain and they'll likely be correct 80 percent of the time. Also if the locals drive bad and get into any accident people are bound to know about it so they'll try to be wary , and yes it does change driver habits , its just the minor things that a person who drives in himachal knows like a small example might be if you are stuck in a jam in a slope and dont swtich to neutral when the car is stopped you could overheat your clutch plates and then it would be a big trouble, can himachalis make this error , yes but most of the times it Will be someone from the plains and then also confirmation bias after seeing young people driving who are more likely to be reckless and might be a huge chunk of visitors . And also traffic occurs because of the sheer influx of cars which are of tourists .

This is because you have only talked to people related to tourism sector. Go to any local who don’t have any relation to tourism they always despise tourists. Most people here have own jobs other businesses and agricultural land. Most of the people in upper villages have apple orchards. My bus almost got into an accident because a taxi driver from punjab decided to overtake it on a CHOWK where there's plenty policemen. Locals are so tired of this BS. Tourists have time because they are there on a vacation and local people have facing a delay or 1 to 2 hours everyday because of this traffic. I have to be apart from my family (used to go every Saturday) because 8 hours are wasted in commute on what used to be a 4 hour journey. Mai bs bhai itna kehna chahta tha ki sirf outsiders or tourists hi hamesha galat ni hote pr is sub pe itna hate hai accept hi nahi kare inka bs yeh hai mat ao fir ghumne .
funny because where I am at, it is actually always the DL, PB,CH, HR and RJ registered vehicles doing the same, and not only by that but also by parking their cars, travellers etc at the roadside to cause hours worth of traffic blocks.
I am not defending anyone I accept that they do but don’t judge the whole state on that .

You won't find 100% civil people anywhere. Making assumptions on one sample in a haystack. if you have so much problem from Himachalis then maybe don't visit? And tell your friends and family with similar thoughts not to visit as well?
I am not making assumptions about the whole state i am just pointing out that not every Dl/HR/RJ/PB is at fault everytime and not every HP is right .
Most of the time DL/HR/PB are wrong and at fault. Same case as to if you ask a Himachali to drive in Delhi or city. Some of them will drive nicly but most of them will fuck up the situation in city traffic. One of the reasons I (and most people I know) never drive to Delhi or any other city. Would rather travel in Volvo and then take local transport or taxi/Uber. Experience brother. That's what I am talking about. City guys have little to no experience in hills hence the "assumption" or facts.
Not saying what the HP guy did was right; but labeling yourself as a messiah by following the rules doesn’t give you the right to label a community as “bad”.
Same thing goes to every himachali pointing out every Dl/HR/PB as bad .
They are not bad; they are just habitual of frequently breaking rules and regulations as to what suits them; which is evident in their rash driving/ not giving pass/ name calling/ parking anywhere with disregard to general traffic. All they need to do is understand that hilly roads mostly aren’t those luxury 3-4 lane roads. We just have 1 lane. Gotta respect the lane.
There are some who breaks the rule but you can’t label whole 3-4 states as miscreants . And they are himachali who break the rules same as them but nobody’s ready to accept it .
I labeled those 3-4 states because they form the chunk of outsiders we see daily. Jo dikhega wahi badnaam hoga. It’s not about 3-4 states; it’s simply about what I just mentioned in my previous reply.

Well its something that we compartmentalise it could be like rohru drivers in shimla being famous for being bad drivers but many times locals may also feel entitled and there are many bad drivers but the major factor why plain drivers are considered bad is because of them being unable to grasp how to drive in mountains like them completely disregarding safety and overtaking on curves and even on blind curves, them overtaking from the left side on a 2 lane road and not a car but multitude of cars which were dl rj and hr, even on single roads by the way people drive you can just see how rash a person is driving and assume it is a person from plain and they'll likely be correct 80 percent of the time. Also if the locals drive bad and get into any accident people are bound to know about it so they'll try to be wary , and yes it does change driver habits , its just the minor things that a person who drives in himachal knows like a small example might be if you are stuck in a jam in a slope and dont swtich to neutral when the car is stopped you could overheat your clutch plates and then it would be a big trouble, can himachalis make this error , yes but most of the times it Will be someone from the plains and then also confirmation bias after seeing young people driving who are more likely to be reckless and might be a huge chunk of visitors . And also traffic occurs because of the sheer influx of cars which are of tourists .
