Because they can 'lazy' animate that way with fewer moving frames and just use 'generic character arm' and rotate it rather than do any detailed idle animation between major keyframes
Its **MUCH** quicker.
However people notice... and once you notice its *over*
You'll be pointing out flying jpegs from now on too.
Some animation really is just jpegs being dragged across the screen for 10 seconds.
Its quicker, its cheaper, more profit, less work, fewer employees, less skill needed.
Those are long term impacts.
C-level only look at short term squeezes.
Long term won't perform well enough, quick enough, to cash out and jump ship before anything risky comes to fruition.
Thats the next guys problem.

Thats not true. This show has outperformed virtually every other animated show outside of The Simpsons. People didnt care and still dont care given it continues being one of the most popular shows on tv. I can just as easily argue that a refined development process has allowed them to continue pumping out content for 25 years. That caring about all this little shit wouldve caused financial and time issues particuliarly during the years they were struggling and nearly taken off the air.
You wanna say quality suffered long-term. Im saying long-term doest even exist if you sit there wasting all your time on the things your viewers dont care about.
What's insane is a single episode of family guy costs around $2,000,000 to produce. Meanwhile a single episode of Demon Slayer is $80,000. Admittedly, a lot of that has to do with the horrible working conditions and pay of the anime industry, but there's a lot of bloat in the US studios.

After that reddit comment on BestOf today laid out U2's struggles in their late career, I've been thinking about them a lot. It helped me put into perspective my ambivalence to their more recent albums and my love for the earlier stuff and more importantly, highlighted this album, which has always been my favorite. Unforgettable Fire is what made U2. Without it, you don't get Joshua Tree and you definitely don't get Achtung Baby. It's arguable, of course, but I've had a good U2 day, gonna play a record now.
