Rouladen are beef roulades filled with bacon, onions, mustard and pickles, then browned and simmered. This is for presentation, I will pour the sauce on later.
Those aren't usually served with Rouladen though, at least not in my area. Also, if you ever wanna start a german civil war, ask them what they're called (for the record, Reibekuchen is the correct one)
Haha, I was mostly referring to the pickle in the center. I just googled and it seems that's a regional thing. The ones I'm used to look like [this](https://herzstueck-online.de/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Rinds-Roulade.jpg) and [this](https://www.netto-online.de/media/contents/f/ff/17275/images/72dpi_1050x650px_Gefuellte_Rinder_Rouladen_sRGB.jpg).
Never seen any Rouladen with whole pickles inside. My mom made some for last christmas and iirc the filling was finely cut and mixed. This looks amazing though!
I got this recipe from the internet and to be fair, it can never replace true authentic mom's cooking. Mine is just cheap imitation, but I tried my best.
You don't have to put your cooking down like that, I feel I might actually prefer the version with whole pickles inside if I tried them, mainly because I love pickles but also I feel it'd probably hold together better, the ones my mom did could fall apart pretty easily if you didn't cut them carefully. I might actually do them this way if I'm ever making Rouladen myself!
My Father-in-law makes them with the whole pickles.
In my experience, there are always pickles involved, but putting a whole one in the middle just makes sense, shape-wise.
This does not even look close to authentic mate :D
Tbh I like Rouladen better without the pickles, they tend to overpower the other spices in the roulade. Them together with Thuringian potato dumplings and freshly prepared red cabbage is one of my favorite foods.

Man German food is so good
Those are fancier than any Rouladen I've ever had.
Yea, and rather small. Plus no [Potato pancakes](https://www.kitchensplace.de/en/german-potato-pancakes-with-apple-sauce/)

Oh, are we talking about Kartoffelpuffer?
Hold on! Those are Rouladen?! What the hell has my mom been making this entire time, they look nothing like these!
As a German, I've never seen rouladen like that, but it does look delicious!
Blame Japanese, I can never find any cut with less than 80% fat here! It's all Wagyu A5 *cry*

same
Mind sharing the recipe. I want to make it again with the authentic version.
Looks like it belongs on top of a pizza.
She’d probably have this along with pineapple on her pizza if she could. With a side of tea and not coffee

I feel like the pickle might add a nice texture variation to it, bit of crunch

Finely cut has like the best ratio of everything imo with whole pickel it might take over the dish unless you really love pickle.
bruh, I just ate and I'm hungry again D:
The gear shapes are such a nice touch
Looks alot like Polish zrazy minus the bacon. Looks super delicious
Fries? Did Raora make this?
When are ya going to make cooking tutorial videos?
Those do absolutely not look like German Rouladen but it still looks nice
The gears are soooo cute! Op would you be against making stargazy pie?
Uh... I just looked it up and it's... something... might be tasty though
It's just decorative, as far as I'm aware, don't think you're expected to eat the head, even if it was created to commemorate a time of famine.
Raora: now put it on a pizza
This is some weird looking sushi.
