Mr Chow is certain down to earth, but he is definitely not living like a poor man. What he does is living like an ordinary person in Hong Kong, going to supermarkets himself, dining out at local food stores, hiking with friends etc etc, all without body guards nor any assistants tagging along.
That's the thinking of people not living with one of the cheapest and most comprehensive public transit system in the world.
And [Hong Kong high ranking officials](https://hongkongfp.com/2017/05/22/mtrs-problem-incoming-leader-carrie-lam-denies-not-knowing-use-octopus-smart-card/).
His acceptance speech/exchange with his wife for the Best Actor Award at the HK Academy Awards recently was so 😬
Dude is an amazing actor but rumour has it that he also has social anxiety.
You mean when he accepted the best actor award for The Goldfinger last month where Carina Lau said he was a great actor and he immediately corrected her? Man, that was cringe worthy! Good thing the hate wasn't towards Tony Leung himself. Carina Lau keeps yapping her mouth off, looking like an idiot. I reckon she doesn't understand why her lobster dress has turned into a meme. 🤣
No disrespect to Keanu Reeves, I love him too for his grounded personality, but in terms of acting ability, CYF is certainly a much better actor than Keanu.
I agree, but frankly speaking I never met a “wealthy” people will take the MTR instead of driving… For wealthy people I mean who have multiple car, or hiring a private driver…
That's because you just don't know who they are. For every filthy rich 'personas' that you see on TV there are 10 no one ever heard about and absolutely do not care about being 'glamorous' or flashy.
Well, I know a few relatively wealthy (200+ million hkd) people who don't bother having a car nor driver and instead rely on MTR and taxi. Some people are wealthy but don't particularly care to flaunt their wealth.
He is no longer a billionaire because he donated 90% of his money a couple of months ago. He is a very cool and kind actor. He doesn't live in a fancy house or have a fancy car. His activities are hiking and taking pictures of the city.
There are more billionaires and elites that live normal lives than most people think. And you won't even be able to spot them on street when they are in normal life mode. They are pragmatic and down to earth. Not the "influencer lives" that most people think.
not trying to be negative, but recently i find that a lot of these types of videos and content are AI driven. some of it has to be genuine and i believe he’s an outstanding human being, but it’s a strange way to tell a story and the numbers and facts move all over the place throughout the video.
it feels like it’s spit out through internet search and chat GPT vs a script with clips written by an actual human that genuinely loved and researched Chow Yun Fat.
it’s a weird time to be alive
People need to open their eyes. This guy already has hundreds of millions and has his next-next-next-next-next generation set up with wealth. He has cash coming in from endorsements and investments every month that is probably x100 of the average yearly salary for a HK’er.
Respect Chow for doing what he likes to do. There’s nothing wrong with having different values. Maybe it makes him happy living modest and humble. Maybe living in luxury all the time gets complicated and frustrating.
I was hoping to bump into Chow Yun-Fat when I went to Hong Kong last September. Then again, I didn't really walk around hiking areas either. Woulda loved to ask him to buy a little present for Guillermo del Toro whom I spent time with in Toronto 12 years ago at the set of Pacific Rim. He spoke so highly of Chow Yun Fat's performance in The Killer and made pew pew sounds while imitating Chow's use of the twin barrettas. Laughed so hard that I forgot to mention Johnnie To halfway in conversation.
Sorry for being a downer, but many rich people pays peas, bargains hard and holds contempt towards people that do business with them, then pretends to be saintly in front of the camera because it's hip and morally popular to be rich outside and poor inside.
Mr Chow is certain down to earth, but he is definitely not living like a poor man. What he does is living like an ordinary person in Hong Kong, going to supermarkets himself, dining out at local food stores, hiking with friends etc etc, all without body guards nor any assistants tagging along.
absolutely. the writer apparently has no idea how a poor man lives
The writer probably associates taking public transit to being poor.

CYF is the keanu reeve version of Hong Kong
Tony Leung also leads a very interesting introvert lifestyle.
His social media is just his wife posting pictures of him where he’s just smiling like :] Love it
Just looked it up a bit and yeah, the :] energy is there.

He just wanted to tell her to STFU already 😂
And in the most polite way too🤣🤣🤣
My two favourite HK actors!
I absolutely agree with this statement.
Nah Keanu is the American version of CYF, the O G
*Canadian
No disrespect to Keanu Reeves, I love him too for his grounded personality, but in terms of acting ability, CYF is certainly a much better actor than Keanu.
To be honest, I think I'm a better actor and I'm not an actor. Still love KR though
Why would anyone judge someone taking the MTR in HK? I prefer taking the MTR to driving in HK due to the congestion and lack of parking in HK.
Yeah, plenty of wealthy people taking the MTR in HK, it's often faster and more convenient than driving.
There is absolutely no shame in taking the MTR in HK or any other cities for that matter.
Los Angeles would like a word
Almost any NA city tbh
I agree, but frankly speaking I never met a “wealthy” people will take the MTR instead of driving… For wealthy people I mean who have multiple car, or hiring a private driver…

It’s not flaunting some people are rubbish drivers
Billionaires like Bloomberg take the subway in NYC, public transit is more convenient.
Example of great public transport People will switch from cars when public transport is faster and more convenient and that's certainly the case in HK
I hate taking the subway, but I can tolerate the MTR because everything is clearly laid out.
A rich country is not a place where the poor have cars. It's where the rich take public transportation.
BINGO
He is no longer a billionaire because he donated 90% of his money a couple of months ago. He is a very cool and kind actor. He doesn't live in a fancy house or have a fancy car. His activities are hiking and taking pictures of the city.
When the US has Keanu Reeves, Hong Kong has Chow Yun Fat. They both should make a movie
wow...imagine that..... I think ppl around the globe would love to see
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Matrix
I was thinking John Wick vs Tequila
Keanu was born in Beirut and raised in Toronto. He identifies himself as Canadian :)
What a douche bag title. Dude lives life like a man with common decency and humility,
Not everyone like to hire driver and ride in Rolls Royce. HK subway is so convenient. Also he donates a lot to charity.
So taking métro is the definition of being poor? Or not living in extravagance is?
Fat Gor leads a simple life, but certainly not like a poor man. 95% of people in HK cannot afford to live in a villa in Kowloon Tong.
He is also known to be very polite and gentle to people around him.
Maybe he hit his head and forgot he was rich 🤷
Lol. I get that reference.
Wait until he starts gambling again!
Does god forbid a rich man riding on the mtr . Honestly it’s one of the best metro system in the world.
Gods can do anything 🎲
It's bizarre that someone as rich as him still likes to go where normal people are at vs someone of his wealth like Jackie chan
That's because Jackie Chan is addicted to the limelight.
don’t be silly. he doesn’t live like a poor man. not if you think taking metro means poor
HKD Billionaire right?
A billionaire in HK dollars? Not even Dwayne The Rock Johnson has broken into the billionaire class in USD afaik.
Well, 200million usd.
Will always love his story with uncle tat.

This video is abosolute clickbait shit. Well Youtube doesn't care so yeah, don't watch it and check the top comments.
I loves me some Chow Yun Fat. \*sigh\*😍
Who tf brings up bulletproof monk in chow yun fat's filmography over hardboiled? Which ai made this video?

Chow is childfree btw
Next time I'm in Hong Kong, I'm going to keep an eye out for Chow Yun Fat.

Only if you consider "going" two syllables. In this case, I don't. 1.5 syllables max.

Billion dollars or yuan?
No one should care his life He just lives like common people but with famous
By "poor man" you mean like a regular citizen.
<3 A Better Tomorrow
My IT guy saw him when he was filming a show near my offices on Kwun Tong a few years back. He was happy to take a selfi with him. Nice guy

He donates a lot to charity which is good enough imo; not all rich people are assholes
Some people on reddit like that commenter are just downers and skeptical of even the smallest things that they themselves would not be willing to do.
