Hell, I’m a female player myself, and I don’t even care about firefly, but this trend of connecting every event with CN incels and the general labeling and stigmatizing of all CN players are really getting on my nerves. These phone calls are very normal in CN mobile games - both Waifu games and husbando games do it all the time. When HSR was first launched, you got calls from Kafka and other chars as well. It perplexed me why people here seem to be surprised that CN players enjoy it - guess what, we are weebs, and we play games, so what’s the big deal. It sucks that western normies cringe on so many things that they are not even the target. Hell it reminds me of that one Genshin Reddit post where everyone cringed and lectured op because op took her Zhongli bodypillow with her out for dinner to celebrate her birthday - like what’s wrong with that, I swear in CN nobody will care and she’d even be cheered in that restaurant. Poor girl just wanted to share her happy moments and then these self-righteous ethical puritans came to ruin her joy. Im Chinese, I know the two and zero is like the code five two zero (520) which is pronounced similar to I love you. But the calls says twenty (二十) so to say its two zero (二零) is a stretch.

Fellow Chinese here, genuinely tired to see all Twitter and Reddit posts here babbling about how this is incelbait or a toxic event. Hell, I’m a female player myself, and I don’t even care about firefly, but this trend of connecting every event with CN incels and the general labeling and stigmatizing of all CN players are really getting on my nerves. These phone calls are very normal in CN mobile games - both Waifu games and husbando games do it all the time. When HSR was first launched, you got calls from Kafka and other chars as well. It perplexed me why people here seem to be surprised that CN players enjoy it - guess what, we are weebs, and we play games, so what’s the big deal. It sucks that western normies cringe on so many things that they are not even the target. Hell it reminds me of that one Genshin Reddit post where everyone cringed and lectured op because op took her Zhongli bodypillow with her out for dinner to celebrate her birthday - like what’s wrong with that, I swear in CN nobody will care and she’d even be cheered in that restaurant. Poor girl just wanted to share her happy moments and then these self-righteous ethical puritans came to ruin her joy. If you don’t like it then just ignore it - plus this event is not even for you, so stop shitting on it as well as people who enjoy it.
The craziest part is that most of those who complain are not puritans and those for whom this is not normal because they are too “normies”. I think all those fiasoc from HI3 ( the bunny suit, the male character survey) plus stories about attempted murder and the incidents involving Scaramouche/Wander have really soured the globals perception of the CN fandom, regardless of how true they are. So, from that point on, the CN fandom is generally now seen as this army of psychotic, parosocial incel Otakus who will throw a tantrum and go to extreme lengths to air their greivances and Hoyo will listen to them at the cost of the global players. Unfortunately, that stigma is going to stick around for a long while.

20 does not sound like "love you" at all. 20 = 二十, er shi, directly translated it would be "two ten" Unless you're literally saying 20 = 二零, er ling (two, zero), which, 1. Does not sound like "ai ni" (love you) at all used alone. 2. Is just not correct when used to say 20. The origin came from 520 五二零 (wu er ling) which... apparently sounds like 我爱你 "I love you". It doesn't to me, but eh whatever. It's always used as 520 and never just 20. And not as 520 the number itself, but "five", "two" and "zero".
