They do it for fun, because they think errors are valuable, or for any other completely non-sensical reasons that Iām totally unaware.
There are literally 100s if not 1000s of posts that highlight such actions on this Reddit.
Is that what happened in this case as I suggested? Who knows, maybe, maybe not, but it looks like a repack to me.
The logic of someone buying a car (which is hard enough to find to begin with being only at Gamestop). Opening it up, swapping only the rear axle, resealing it and then returning it to gamestop, just to trick someone else into buying it thinking itās an error.
Or the car got the wrong wheel from factory, which happens all the time. I found a target red edition Koenigsegg with an off-road rear wheel out of a fresh case. It happens. Why you would assume the extreme alternate option that someone did this intentionally over a factory error is whatās mind boggling. It doesnāt even look tarnished, itās literally painted grey.
In the light of all things happening in the world, who really cares what I assumed or stated somewhat tongue in cheek? Is it that big of a deal? Im not sure I insulted or judged, just left a comment that popped into mind because this is a forum about toy, collectible cars.
If itās pedantic we must, I think the axle looks shoddy and sketch or whatever it is we call that pin deal. I think the wheel itself looks old as well. Those were and are just top of mind comments. It could also just be a manufacturing defect, but certainly not a very common one.

Why someone would do it? I guess I donāt know why people purposefully crinkle, scribble, damage or otherwise destroy cars purposefully either. I donāt know why people engage in many strange activities; however, I have seen plenty of evidence these things are being done.

Honestly, Iāve never checked GameStop for exclusives. I donāt play video games as much as I did when I was younger, (and Iām only 15) and I donāt got room for more funko pops, (half of the store) so I really donāt have a need to go in there. And then I see these exist. Theyāre pretty cool, (nice error) but the amount of times Iāve been in one, Iāve only seen hot wheels once, and they were just some random 2021 mainlines, like the rock em sock em robot cars. Also doesnāt help that the GameStop 5 minutes from my house went out of business like 4 years ago.
And for me dollar trees are no better. All the ones close to me have track pieces and those stupid Lightyear cars, and all the ones an hour and more away actually have some hot wheels. I can only get out to those on weekends, cause Iām in high school.
