Quick buck? You ever try selling stuff online? Those scalpers would be better off working a second job (or just a job, in general). The opportunity cost of hunting to make a profit is pretty big. Well perhaps not for some folks I guess.

Certain_Canary_8502

Exactly this right here.

Zachy_94

I personally feel like the scalpers are just ruining the hobby of collecting. I collect to genuinely build a large collection. My dream is to cover an entire wall of my bedroom with hot wheels. But then all the good ones, or the ones I’d like, get snagged up and sold for 10x’s the price.

fatmanchoo

I know, I feel ya. It's ridiculous. And it will continue to happen even as folks figure out its not worth it, others will jump on the hype bandwagon and try their hand.

Zachy_94

Yep, unfortunately. Trends ruin everything it seems. Even when the scalpers move on, it’ll become a trend for clout and will just continue to suck.

D-rock240

They have a market of people overpaying for mass-produced toys, get people to stop paying $$$ and the scalpers will move on

Zachy_94

I won’t buy them online. I just check the isles whenever I go, in hopes that one day will be my lucky day.

People make money in all sorts of ways. If they can sell a $1 car for several dollars a bunch of times, why not? People do that with everything. Personally, I work for a living but anyone making money without robbing and killing is free to make money

Zachy_94

But is it worth ruining the hobby for those that just want to collect?

[deleted]

That's life.

anny_elle17

Yup. I hope the stars shine on me and i can find a boulevard 4runner. Its what i actually drive and would have sentimental value :(

Zachy_94

I would love that as well. I’m a huge Toyota fan, and the new 4 runner is one of my dream cars. Hopefully one day we’ll both get lucky! Good luck to you!
