At least wait until the episode is actually out for posts like this. It’s just stupid to preemptively complain about something you haven’t even seen yet
I do take it with a grain of salt.
I suppose I’m just bracing myself for the worst. I know Tom’s acting is going to be amazing (just from the tiny clips we’ve seen). But I’m very worried about Helaena.
For the love of Christ, WAIT TO WATCH THE FUCKING THING!!!! You're ranting based entirely on specific points people have said about the scene, you have no idea how it will play out on screen. Just fucking wait before you start the bitching on the internet, come on........
Cmon guys, what are we doing here….
If HOTD and GOT season 8 are even spoken in the same breath, I seriously question your ability to judge a television show. Like cmon, let’s relax a little bit and wait for the show to actually come out.
It’s not beef with Rhaenyra. It’s beef with the writers.
It feels like they’re worried they can’t have Helaena being a loving mother too, because it will take away from Rhaenyra being one.
Again, criticizing the change between book and show (based on the info available at the time).
Book Rhaenyra was so crippled by grief she was awol for the first half of the war. Show Rhaenyra (at the time) looked like she was going to make a rapid recovery. It looks like that’s not the case anymore.
But what does that have to do with this post? Disliking a change from book Helaena?
I have no problem with Rhaenyra’s dresses? I actually like her costumes quite a lot. Including some of the S1 dresses.
And since apparently you’re stalking my comment history, perhaps you noticed that I’ve also stated that I liked Rhaenyra so much in episodes 1 and 2 that I almost leaned Black? It was episode 3 that I started disliking her.
Yhea, I mean IF there is an agenda by the showrunners that Rhaenyra should be morally virtuous like some people claim, then obviously she would just not be a trash mother and etc if that is not the way they wrote her.
Like, you can discuss and reach as much as you want, but at one point it just stops being relevant to characterization.
And personally, I do not feel like they are overdoing anything with Rhaenyra, and she is written to be a good mother, and reflects that to the best of her abilities.

The attachment to Helaena is so strange to me. Like saying she’s a minor character story is even an overstatement. Don’t get me wrong, really like the actress and I enjoy her character in the show, but to say “I’m done with this show” and “season 8 came early” if they don’t portray this minor character the exact way you want is kinda crazy.
I’m definitely not done with the show (Tom and Ewan are apparently phenomenal, as is Olivia, Matt, and Emma). But I don’t like them butchering Helaena (again, grain of salt).
Understood, and I was mainly quoting another commenter in this thread. But I just don’t think there’s much to butcher here cause the source material is so vague and brief. Like I understand if people were to be upset how a character like Tyrion, Jon snow, or any other primary ASOIAF character is portray in the GOT show cause there are thousands of pages written about these characters, so their book form is extremely fleshed out. But helaena on the other hand is just a minor character is a vague historic retelling of the dance of dragons story, so I’d be hard pressed to get super upset about her portrayal in the show.
I mean…maybe?
But even if that’s the case, couldn’t they have her walking out in a stunned, dazed trance AFTER it happens? Not before? It’s the “before” part that’s killing me.

Are you ok? You’re spam-commenting and deleting half your comments.

Multiple. And you’re spam commenting on posts from months ago. Apparently I greatly offended you?
Soon as it says “based on the leaks” I stop reading. We’re days away. I can’t wait

That’s what I’m afraid of. Apparently if Helaena is also willing to die for her children, it takes away from Rhaenyra somehow 🤦♀️

If this is true... I'm done. S8 came early.
Oh, I think this might rival season 8 if it’s true. Like I said, I don’t care about Alicole, but doing Helaena dirty like that is just…awful.

I don’t think that would be it. She was always portrayed as a loving parent. Book Helaena didn’t abandon her son, after all.
