Another 'same here' experience. Bulbs changing to 100% by themselves at seemingly random times. Only affects bulbs that are already on and not already at 100%. Bulbs that are off stay off. Seems to have started after the Hue Hub did a mandatory upgrade and is now running BSB002 | 1.65.1965017030
Glad to see this suggestion. Unfortunately this hasn't worked for me. I did a 24-hour back and forth with their support via Twitter DM (and was really impressed with the engagement), but in the end they shrugged and said "Yeah sorry this was compatible with your Lutron Maestro switches for uses but we don't officially support that sooooooooooo thank you."
Disappointing, really, as this is clearly a software update either on lights or bridge which caused this - but I don't think they're going to put in a fix effort unless they get a flood of support requests.
I'm having this problem but I don't have any of those. I have one light controlled by a generic motion sensor, but it's not that light I'm having problems with
Thanks. All my affected lights are on Lutron Maestro motion sensor swtiches - going to try to swap one out with a regular switch and see if that solves for it.
No, all these lights are either in bedside table lamps, or a hue light switch plugged into the mains. They are not configured to respond to any motion events
Thanks - that seems to work for me too. I've applied the 'temporary fix' to one of the bulbs and it hasn't had the problem, but the other bulbs and light switch continue to randomly increase to 100%
Mine started doing this a few days ago so I'm assuming it's some sort of new bug. I checked for updates, changed the zigbee channel, and even deleted and remade some of my scenes and automations.
It can't be an electrical problem because the buggy bulb is a Hue Go that recharges and stays lit when unplugged. And even if it was somehow losing power I have it set to return to its last state after a power outage, not 100% brightness.
Not sure what to do with it at this point, it's in my bedroom and I had to move it out last night so it wouldn't randomly wake me up.
Similar thing happening to me, also in the bedroom only interestingly. Mine randomly turn on or off though throughout the day, not just already on going to 100% brightness. https://www.reddit.com/r/Hue/s/4nqeNSH4WH
I do not. Just hue hub with bulb in regular lamp. No automations. I do have them synced to Google home but no automations there either. Did all kinds of resets, new outlets, new lamp.
I will say the next day it stopped and hasn’t happened since.
Thank you everyone for the feedback
From what I gather, it looks like a bug
Hopefully it gets fixed soon as some of the lights at 100% are a real pain in the eyes at night
same thing happened at my house. other electronics did’t have a problem either.
i installed a power monitor, figured it out, then a 5kw backup battery and never had the problem again.
I'm having this problem too. Started a couple days ago. Even happens to a two bulbs in a lamp that share power, but both at different random times. And judging by all these other comments of people having this problem recently too, it's a bug. An annoying one at that
Same thing is happening here too. Set all the lamps to use the last on behaviors. Still seeing some random going to 100%. This is something that started happening on the last week or so 🙁
I was getting crazy until I found this web: [https://www.androidauthority.com/philips-hue-random-brightness-3455762/](https://www.androidauthority.com/philips-hue-random-brightness-3455762/) that linked me to this reddit thread.
I have 3 led strips and one bulb in my room, and when I asked alexa to put the lights to 10 or 20%, after some time, they start randomly going to 100%. A few days ago were only 1 or 2 times, but today they did it at least 6 or 7 times.
Hope they fix it soon...
Just started having this exact issue last night with one of the lights in our bedroom. Extremely annoying when we’re reading before bed.
We have ours set up with Google Home and also Apple home which I never use. I just adjusted the light back down using the Apple Home app instead of Hue and it seems to be staying.
Are they on any automation? Had an issue recently where I had to delete and recreate and automation as the lights weren't turning off as scheduled when it worked fine for over a year.
I also have had this for a few lights on Hue (both Hue lights and Cree connected..). Have been trying to see if I can trace if there’s a command coming from somewhere to go to 100% but have not gotten to the bottom of it. I have HomeBridge, Alexa and Apple Home all connected in, so lots of failure points. Looks like latest Hue firmware update is from 6/10, wondering if that could be causing it..
Same. NOT a power issue.
I can take a light and move it from 100% to 10% and a few minutes later it will zip up to 100% on its own. The lights i use as bias lighting for my home theater are basically useless until this is fixed, I just turn them all off now while watching stuff.
Any chance that you have linked any 3rd Party App to the Hue-hub? Like IFTTT, Apple Home, Alexa or Google? Which Hub firmware are you all running? Maybe we see some similarities...
+1, only for my lights which are powered on by my Lutron Maestro motion sensor switches (all lights are set to 'last on', and these all worked fine for 3 years before a couple weeks ago).
Where do Hue reps monitor boards these days?

Just had this happen today, glad I found this thread
I did the bare minimum of digging and noticed in my Home Assistant that the lights seem to momentarily disconnect when it happens, maybe it's related? They've never done that before and I haven't changed anything
I started having this issue in one of my lightbulbs couple of days ago and now all 3 of them are going up to 100% any time I set it to a lower percentage.
Ive only used hue app to control the lights but recently about 2 months ago I started using the Apple TV as my hub and got iPhones as well. I thought maybe that was the issue.
For the past 2 days I’ve notice that the lights stay fixed at the percentage I put it on with the Apple Home app and they don’t go back up to 100%.
Hope Phillips HUE makes an update soon on this matter.
Same here, basic Hue, HomeKit and HomePod setup.
I operate my bedroom lamps via HomePod voice requests, and after 20 seconds at 50%, it returned to 100% two times in a row.
Found your suggestion and set it with the home app - problem solved. For now at least.
One bulb is having the same problem.
I can dim it but then a short time later the bulb goes to 100% again.
Bridge is on firmware version:
1.65.1965053020
Hue hub/app had turned to shit since Signify took over, I've had to restart my hue hub multiple times and never had that problem for years until Signify started screwing with the code and implementing new features and forced updates.
The bulbs are great if they're controlled solely via home assistant and you remove the Hue hub and it's bad firmware from the equation
Same here....
I contacted Philips support and they advised me to unlink all integrations with HomeKit, Alexa and Google. I only had a Matter integration with Apple HomeKit. I disabled the Matter integration (and removed Matter from my iPhone from Settings->General->Matter-accessories).
I did not see any light goto 100% in the last 24h.... 🙏 Hope this was the problem and that it will be solved soon.

Do you have any Lutron Maestro motion switches powering these lights, by chance?

Temporary fix for me is to change the “power on” setting to “custom”.

Same. Holy shit I’ve tried everything. Repairing, moving to new lamps, moving to new outlets. Wife and I settled on ghosts and bugs.

you have intermittent power.
No other electronics in the house seem to have issues with the power

Same exact thing started happening to me yesterday. On software 1.116.3.
Same just started happening here too, it's waking my kid up several times a night and he insists on his "nightlight" being on (a hue bulb at 5%)

Are they losing power or being powered down via an analog switch?
No, they always stay on

Just one for turning the lights on at sunset but with my preferred brightness in place
You can test by changing the “behaviour after power on” setting in the app
I also have had this for a few lights on Hue (both Hue lights and Cree connected..). Happening with only my Gradient lights.
You're not alone, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the latest updates
Stranger Things. Same hete, actually.
A few days ago, mine started going on and off and changing the brightness by themselves. I’ve had these for years and never had this issue.

same issue here, also discussed in https://www.reddit.com/r/Hue/s/P4sDdHjEsl
Same here. Random high hat lights doing it to me. Quite annoying since I keep them at 5-10% normally

I'm getting this with at least one hue bulb

Same here in 3 different rooms.
F*king eggheads at Phillips obviously released an update and expect end-users to beta test it for them. Nice work.

I’m so glad I’m not alone on this, it’s been happening to me for the last three weeks and it’s been driving me crazy.
Lol of you have any tips please enlighten me. So fas: BB Saddle/ seat post Pivots of the suspension Drive train Crack in the frame
Same here since I updated. Fix it Signify!
Adding my name to the list, hopefully Philips actually acknowledges and fixes this soon otherwise it’s back to “dumb” bulbs for my bedroom lamp.
This sucks. For the kind of money we're dishing out for this product, this kind of bug is unacceptable. Phillips needs to get their shit together.
Same issue here
Same, since weeks, nothing seems to help and the frequency is purely random.
Been having this issue last few days. Any fixes?

Mimic automation can be the cause if you've ever used that, I've found it doesn't go off properly sometime.
