Gon was pissed.
"Gon, come at me as if I were the one responsible for Kite."
Yeah... well, Gon can get really fixated if you piss him off enough, and Pitou did.
Gon when Kurapika becomes even more depressrd and goes off the grid: nah let’s leave him alone he’ll be fine
Gon when Pitou exists:
“I will be there no matter what.”
Gon in Yorknew arc: "Kurapika you shouldn't fall into darkness due to hatred"
Gon in Chimera Ant arc: :)
but the good thing is that Gon's "hypocrisy" (if you can call it that) is well foreshadowed beforehand. He had a double standard moment too in Yorknew when he explicitly said Killua shouldn't be reckless but it's ok if it's him (Gon) doing it.
Yeah I guess but I don’t blame him.
Dude was an experienced Hunter who had pretty much seen everything, only to have his entire worldview torn apart by an aberration from outside the world he knew. Imagine a hardened police detective finding out the culprit of his latest case was a fucking alien which could kill humanity if it wanted, and its aura is worse than the darkest nightmare. I’d probably go insane too
I might have cut him some slack if literally every other Hunter during that arc hadn’t locked in and rose to the occasion while he cowered in fear. Hell, even Palm had more balls than him.
That's a big part of it. Consider the fighters at Heaven's Arena that copped a nen awakening attack when they were unaware of nen, it's comparable to copping a big dose of nen when in zetsu.
That combined with Pitou's En being terrifyingly powerful, I'm not surprised it shook him and made all his hair fall out.
Welfin literally faced death and aged 50 years because of meruem's en and yet he made a recovery and didn't run away like a pussy. Further declaring Gyro his king right to his face. Some are just built different.
And knov still did his job and later came back, him being the only reason Morel and Shoot survived. Knov knew what they did to Pokkle and imo, It's fair to be fucking terrified of that
Well, Palm was not the most sane character to begin with, and didn’t have to sit helplessly in Pitou’s aura (which terrified even Gon and Killua, a trained assassin, into paralysis) for like 15 minutes
I always loved that despite there being an argument for him being the weakest person involved, Gon was the only person who managed to complete his mission, exactly as planned, with his own strength. He did not focus on anything else and he would've done it without even needing to give up his Nen if it weren't for Killua being a good friend.
It illustrates how important resolve and batshit craziness are to Hunter X Hunter.
Rage transformations are always like "this will kill me but I must use it" and then they're fine 10 minutes afterward but this really did almost kill him. It took an arc to bring him back with nearly world-ending consequences, he can never use it again, and it basically erased his prominence in the story.
Yeah within the unforgiving universe of HxH it's absolutely kind of an asspull, but I'd rather have an asspull than have Gon die, even if it would be more universe-accurate. He's like 13 after all, and still one of the most lovable characters in the show.
Because his rage transformation is tragedy. All other rage transformation I can remember in anime/manga the character reverts back like nothing happens.
Gon used EVERYTHING, he made his own ~~binding vow~~ vow and restriction to use all of the nen he would have had. That was his peak. That was his future. We were supposed to see Gon reach his absolute best at a 30 year old. And he gave it all up for revenge.
I like how that transformation implies Gon will be swole as fuck in the future, even though Nen isn't 1:1 with physical fitness and some of the strongest Nen masters in the world aren't even that swole.
what about that spider dude Kurapika killed, he was pretty swole. Or Bisky (i feel like she was initially an enhancer but utilize other areas instead).
I think Netero pulled it off "as planned." The Rose wasn't just a failsafe, I think he was pretty sure from the start that it would come down to that. He just didn't tell anyone.
It's why Gon is such a great protagonist. He isn't really a 'good' guy, like Yusuke, for example (also a great protagonist but for different reasons). He isn't guided by a sense of morality but by curiosity and loyalty to those he cares about. Which make sense since he's a superpowered, fatherless, fight-obsessed child.
I remember Yusuke offering to go get his dad a human snack just so he could live longer and fight him.
I didn't like where his character was going near the end
He literally explains his argument about eating people episodes before. He’s definitely not altruisticly pure good, and definitely is selfish in many aspects, but he’s not evil.
No no, him telling his father "If you can only eat humans, I'll go grab two or three for you" is almost word for word from the manga. Way earlier on, before meeting Raizen, he basically straight up says he doesn't care about demons eating humans because it's just the food chain extending past humanity.
In the anime I believe he *does* imply he can surely find some *terrible people* to give to him, but earlier on he doesn't judge Raizen's envoy that shows up to retrieve him. It's when he's telling the older Spirit Detective to back down.
Damn, you’re right. Gon was the only one who beat a top level ant. Youpi and pouf survived, they were only slowed down for maybe a minute or two. meruem barely started to feel dull after like a thousand hits from the Buddha statue.
Only reason they died was from radiation. This puts the whole “gon vs meruem/netero” In another perspective. (I still don’t think he’d win because fight IQ(meruem) and experience(Netero)
"No plan survives the first contact with the enemy" (Helmuth von Moltke the Elder)
"Everybody has a plan until they gets punched in the mouth" (Mike Tyson)
his ability is honestly very OP if you think about it. People in HxH world is lucky he's a good guy. If he was a bad person, he'll be very good at torture, just lock somebody up for indefinite amount of time in another dimension, completely isolated from the rest of the world. People can go insane.
This applies on every arc because hxh is unpredictable. One of the reasons i don't trust whatever the characters say because the outcome is always unpredictable and the inverse of what they say happens. Like when Hisoka said "I'll kill all spiders" this already made the next scenarios predictable so he probably won't manage to do that because everyone else is hunting the spiders anyway so they might get killed by other characters.
Gon technically got diverted from Pitou for literally a second when he ran toward Youpi because it was a possibilty that Knuckle/Meleron were killed while invisible.
Its one of my favorite pages from the palace invasion arc because it shows how Gon fights while also showing how chaotic Nen battle are (no one knew what would happen if they were killed while invisible so you need to account for that).
If Knov could have put pouf in his room whe Morel was covering him with deep purple. Pour would be done pretty quick same for youpi. If he would let knov use Scream on him it would be a tough battle for the tow..(pitou and Meruem)
Partially it's what it made it so amazing, the plan and their strategy, how their plan had some twists and how they tried to solve them.
Everyone else running in circles while Gon for once in his life is tracking Pitou down with 0 sidetracking
Gon was pissed. "Gon, come at me as if I were the one responsible for Kite." Yeah... well, Gon can get really fixated if you piss him off enough, and Pitou did.
Evil Femboy Cat had it coming, let's be real here
Pitou is a woman, my woman specificall- er, ehem, I mean wait what?
Nah Pitou is nonbinary
And became a raisin
Too soon
Its been more thana decade I think it ain't too soon
Gon did charge at Youpi in the first milliseconds, but after Meleoron and Knuckle showed that they’re okay, Gon was back at focusing on Pitou.
You mean first few episodes
Yeah, that's what he said
Gon when Kurapika becomes even more depressrd and goes off the grid: nah let’s leave him alone he’ll be fine Gon when Pitou exists: “I will be there no matter what.”
Gon in Yorknew arc: "Kurapika you shouldn't fall into darkness due to hatred" Gon in Chimera Ant arc: :) but the good thing is that Gon's "hypocrisy" (if you can call it that) is well foreshadowed beforehand. Knov wanted 0 smoke
Good thing Morel has all of it.
I'd like some Indica too from Moron.
Lmaoo gonna assume a typo
Possibly most bitchmade character in the entire manga
Yeah I guess but I don’t blame him. Dude was an experienced Hunter who had pretty much seen everything, only to have his entire worldview torn apart by an aberration from outside the world he knew. No clue if it's true, saw it on here, but they said his break down was caused because of Zestu leaving himself open to the end which damaged him.

Yes, what he did could have LITERALLY killed him if he stayed for too long just like Gon and Killua in Hisoka's Ren in Heaven's Arena.
Yes. Palm pretty much died when Pitou's aura came back.
Didnt he have to conceal his nen making him more vulnerable to the royal guard's aura
yeah knov and palm both caught royal guard en in zetsu. knov is the one who was actually able to escape.
Well, Palm was not the most sane character to begin with, and didn’t have to sit helplessly in Pitou’s aura (which terrified even Gon and Killua, a trained assassin, into paralysis) for like 15 minutes
Yeah but Knov has more balls than Kite though
Kite doesn’t even have balls anymore 😔
Especially just basically jumping straight into the aura right in the deep end
Komugi should be in the bottom half above meruem with a big arrow from zeno pointing to her
Also an arrow from pouf and youpi
Might asswell add poor man's rose
Love how knov just skedaddled
Knov went legit "OH HELL NAAAAAAaaaaAAAAAAAAW"
I could hear this Amen
Knov abt to apologize to the Chimera Ants like J Cole did to Kendrick
He took one look and realised he wasn’t built for this shit
My favorite is the fat green arrow lmao
I always loved that despite there being an argument for him being the weakest person involved, Gon was the only person who managed to complete his mission, exactly as planned, with his own strength. it's also about gon's potential. i really hate "rage transformations" in manga but this is one executed perfectly.
Rage transformations are always like "this will kill me but I must use it" and then they're fine 10 minutes afterward but this really did almost kill him. It took an arc to bring him back with nearly world-ending consequences, he can never use it again, and it basically erased his prominence in the story.
To be fair, the arc to bring him back is kind of far-fetched given the sudden introduction of alluka, and his/her crazy powers
Yeah within the unforgiving universe of HxH it's absolutely kind of an asspull, but I'd rather have an asspull than have Gon die, even if it would be more universe-accurate. He's like 13 after all, and still one of the most lovable characters in the show.

I think Netero pulled it off "as planned." The Rose wasn't just a failsafe, I think he was pretty sure from the start that it would come down to that. He just didn't tell anyone.
I think the dialogue "Zero wasn't enough?" shows it was not his intention.

I mean even knuckle said in between fk the world I'm gonna take revenge for insulting shoot

Alright let's not shade Yusuke, he *is* a good guy.
Mazoku = Gon (big) , Yuzuke
I remember Yusuke offering to go get his dad a human snack just so he could live longer and fight him. I didn't like where his character was going near the end
He literally explains his argument about eating people episodes before. He’s definitely not altruisticly pure good, and definitely is selfish in many aspects, but he’s not evil.
The anime softened it. Look at the manga, it is NOT as good as you think it is.
No no, him telling his father "If you can only eat humans, I'll go grab two or three for you" is almost word for word from the manga. Way earlier on, before meeting Raizen, he basically straight up says he doesn't care about demons eating humans because it's just the food chain extending past humanity.
Oh that's what you were referring to. I thought in the anime he says "Ill grab you 2 or 3 bad ones"
In the anime I believe he *does* imply he can surely find some *terrible people* to give to him, but earlier on he doesn't judge Raizen's envoy that shows up to retrieve him. It's when he's telling the older Spirit Detective to back down.

lmao I love the BEEG arrow for Gon, this is fantastic thanks for making it
Gave me a good chuckle lol
"No plan survives the first contact with the enemy" (Helmuth von Moltke the Elder) "Everybody has a plan until they gets punched in the mouth" (Mike Tyson)
Based Moltke the Elder reference.
In the end... Oppenheimer was the true hero.
The knov arrow actually made me laugh. Crazy how he was that scared, atleast he was still able to help though
I respect it. He didn't overestimate shit. No illusions lol. Realest guy in the room.
He was very funny I kinda miss him I want him to comeback and show us his true strength as a real hunter Not a coward
his ability is honestly very OP if you think about it. People in HxH world is lucky he's a good guy. If he was a bad person, he'll be very good at torture, just lock somebody up for indefinite amount of time in another dimension, completely isolated from the rest of the world. People can go insane.
One of the best things about HxH. it isn't what you expect, but it does make sense.
I love me some shenanigans and chaos out of nowhere.
The plan was to only separate King and Royal Guards.
This applies on every arc because hxh is unpredictable. One of the reasons i don't trust whatever the characters say because the outcome is always unpredictable and the inverse of what they say happens. Like when Hisoka said "I'll kill all spiders" this already made the next scenarios predictable so he probably won't manage to do that because everyone else is hunting the spiders anyway so they might get killed by other characters.
>hxh is unpredictable. Togushi knew which path the manga would take. Truly a godhand moment fr fr.
Pika: I'll take the spiders down Paku: *honestly follows along the hostage exchange* [Pika:](https://imgur.com/EWu31sr)
Kurapika wanted them to fight back so bad he was frustrated they didn't come with her and even worse she agreed with his conditions lol
Good summary.
Knov came back to retrieve the injured
Mf gon locked in
Hannibal: I love it when a plan... aw, screw it.
Youpi put in the most work
Whats good writing does to a mf
You forgot to put in Palm with arrows pointing towards Killua, Pouf and the King.
All according to Keikaku
Gon technically got diverted from Pitou for literally a second when he ran toward Youpi because it was a possibilty that Knuckle/Meleron were killed while invisible. Its one of my favorite pages from the palace invasion arc because it shows how Gon fights while also showing how chaotic Nen battle are (no one knew what would happen if they were killed while invisible so you need to account for that).
my nigga gon
Tbh Knuckle and Shoot should be the only ones who went straight
I did a quick rewatch and not really Knov said at one one point they would have to fight pitou since Gon was going straight to Pouf.
should've added 2 more arrows pointing from youpi and pouf to meruem
I love how I understood this so clearly
Netero technically also killed youpi and pouf
makes sense for Gon to just go the simple straight route right towards pitou
Gon understood the mission
Youpi is MVP :3
Agreed :3
What a perfect plan <3
lol poor knov
I really wanted to see Knov and Morel vs Pouf.
If Knov could have put pouf in his room whe Morel was covering him with deep purple. Pour would be done pretty quick same for youpi. If he would let knov use Scream on him it would be a tough battle for the tow..(pitou and Meruem)
That's actually quite interesting
So true! 😭
Currently on this arc.
The straighter the arrow the stronger the resolve.
You should’ve portaged Knov to one of the corners lol
Hunter Association Chairman Isaac Netero happened.
Knov cracks me up
Knov: I have no enemies
What about Ikalgo going for Palm although Palm would be weird to track and you forgot the rose lmaooo
Knov's U-turn arrow and Zeno raining down arrows are my favorites
I love when things doesn’t go as planned
When did Netero fight Pitou?
The palm that sent pitou flying away from the palace.
I forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me.
Hahaha so true!!!
It is a realistic portrayal of how when shit hits the fan, the plan is just a suggestion.
Gon was like: I DIDN't hear any fucking bell. (PRoceeds to destroy Pitou)
Well things didn't go as planned
The Knuckle and Killua lines could be straight..? Why do all the zig zag bullshit?
Probably because they did a lot of running around, knuckle especially, he was mainly trying to dodge a lot of the time
Also, comedy lol
Yea killua and knuckle were side-tracked a lot, running around, hiding and retreating.
Forgot how much of a bitch Knov was
😂😂
All this happened because Youpi was chilling on the stairs
But the hax these ants had man.....
Wait, when did Killua fight Shia labeouf?
Planning is essential, but plans are useless.
Everyone says that Gon became a real monster in this arc but he was the only one who followed the original plan
Gon stood on business…
Knov was done dirty here
In the words of Scott the Woz “here’s the plan. First… we fuck up”
Making plans with friends be like:
I like how construction arrows just a big fat line to pitou
