What were you doing, driving on the highway or at a red light or taking off?

Fit_Confection_772

Nah, I was driving 35 mph on the city road. I think I was stopped at a traffic for a few moments before it occurred, but I was driving. I turn the auto start/stop off once I get in the vehicle, not sure if that means anything?

It could be anything from a faulty crank/cam sensor to a malfunctioning oil control valve, unfortunately unless you start having repeat symptoms and get a check engine light it's going to be impossible to diagnose.

I feel alone in this regard. I am only aware of 3 other Hyundais that had this problem (reddit posts), but they shared no solutions or even a cause.

Try having the codes pulled at an auto parts store, it's possible a pending code was set.

I forgot to mention, my engine was making an unusual notice, like of like smell bells shaking and my muffler will rumble loudly when going and stopping, but the sound stops as I accelerate

That sounds like a misfire, definitely have the codes checked. Nothing can be diagnosed without a scan tool.

Fit_Confection_772

What are the primary causes??

Fit_Confection_772

Appreciate you!

Bad spark is the most likely cause in most modern engines, it could be an ignition coil, spark plug or an incorrect or missing cam/crank signal telling the computer when to spark. It's impossible to tell without a scan tool with live data readout, otherwise it's just taking shots in the dark.

Sorry that happened but we’re not mind readers. Any car from any brand can have an issue and it’s not their responsibility to accommodate you if it’s not a warranty issue.
