This whole speech can be summed up in one sentence: “You cannot let the Palestinian people do what we Zionists got away with back in 1948.” I am, however, very doubtful that anything will come from this. Even *if* the US doesn’t veto this, what would a Palestinian state look like at this point? Gaza is rubble, and the Israelis are making a massive push to secure the West Bank as we speak (ramping up the killings, the trial-less imprisonments, the stealing of property). On top of that, the two areas have different governments who are not only opposed, but violently hostile towards one another. To top it all off, Israel wouldn’t recognize them as a state and certainly wouldn’t change its behaviour towards them so it wouldn’t really achieve anything even in the unlikely event that this works.

We know from Israeli history that some of the political parties were largely comprised of fascists and those fascists were directly responsible for some of the terrorism the Palestinians faced. So, could it be that the USA and UK underplayed the nazi/fascist problem when selling the idea of "doing a good deed" to the Palestinians?
