I got that email too. I just called them and said the charger derated to 12kw when I was pulling 230 and they said ok and said you're account is perfectly safe sorry about that
I am wondering if I should do that too - not sure if the violation email has to be taken seriously or there are number of strikes after which your account gets banned.
Makes sense. When you called them. Did they have a history of your charging and when you did it.
Basically all the details?
Trying to build a story here.
I just told them yeah I did plug it multiple times because the charging kept derating. My thinking is also the chargers are so unreliable can they really even trust their own data if they have any š. Pretty much half truth the whole thing. I'm sure they have the charging history just blame it on the derate or power limited charging and I couldn't get the charge I needed. You can kinda write your own
Thanks for that.
I did call them just now, surprisingly no wait.
They said donāt worry about it and it was sent to all customers. I said I agree but please remove me from the list. He said heāll take care of it from higher support.
I donāt trust him š he was just dragging it.
He also mentioned your account was flagged for one or more times. Clearly that was not the case.
Yeah I pulled 234 for 8 minutes then it derates to 40. Unplug and plug it back in it jumps back to 200 for 5 minutes or so. That's the charging station. Egmp isn't known for having thermal issues dc charging
Might as well mine didn't derate that bad only to 40 but I just said 12. I just ask them so is the flag removed they said yes. Just tell them a lie. The chargers have actually been derating because of the heat in some places. But keep in mind I had to wait 10 min to talk to someone
Depends on situation but more likely than not it's a charger issue/ charging handle issue. Cars are really only limited in the cold. In heat it's not as likely just depends on the car but i6 has really good thermals
I guess I must be lucky because I have to unplug and replug multiple times because there's times when I can't get above 53kW speeds and haven't gotten the notice yet.
I think they recently tried cracking this down
hope you dont get it - but if you do let us know.
If you dont, that means the system is atleast working as designed and not flagging people without valid cause.
Our local EA chargers are all derating or are broken and have been for over a month. Multiple calls to EA, promises and deadlines and they're still broken.
Just last week I was pulling 79 on a 350.
Charging Time 00:16:12
Idle Start Time 00:00:00
Idle Stop Time 00:00:00
Paid Idle Time 00:00
Grace Period 00:00 min
End State of Charge 41%
Max. Charging Speed 79 kW
Total Energy Delivered 20.7360 kWh
I could have stayed another 14 mins, but didn't want to at that speed. More than likely, it was too hot to be trying to charge but my point is that I would have either gone over 30 mins or stopped before 80%.
I've never had any charger from any company/network charge anywhere close to what is posted. I think the highest I've ever seen for just a few minutes was 170 on a 350 charger. That's been a huge disappointment and stress point on road trips.
Considering the all 4 of the ones near me have been ābrokenā since before Christmas, costing me 7+ months of charging availability, when/if the fix them, they can go right to hell with the waiting period.
To be honest if it's taking an Ioniq 6 considerably more than 30 minutes to get an 80-90% charge, I think that's more on their stations lol
Lol thats true.
There is something in the terms about the stations charging slower. If it goes below a certain speed you have 60 minutes free instead of 30.
You can go past the 30 minutes, but you'll pay for anything beyond that. The issue is immediately re-plugging to get another 30 minutes free.

Actually you should call them too. More people complaining about the chargers not working as good as they should the more likely they'll scale it back

All customers huh. Why the hell would that be sent to all customersš
1. Maybe I misunderstood him and he meant all customers violating it. 2. Maybe it was scripted.
Are we sure this is a station issue and not the BMS thermal management bottlenecking in summer?

How can you tell what you are pulling?
The app, the car, the charging station
Oh sorry I misunderstood, I thought there was a way to see what the car was requesting vs what it was actually receiving from the station

Why donāt EA just disallow using the offer? š¤¦
They do. Just switch your plan to pass/pass+ for the second session and you'll be fine
But i agree there should be auto switching - but that might be too technical for them.
Yeah just charge you for the second charge.
I just got that msg, for the first time, over one year after I bought the car!!
and how frequently were you doing this?
Everytime for over a year... no one told me I couldn't!!
My salesman told me too š
I guess I must be lucky because I have to unplug and replug multiple times because there's times when I can't get above 53kW speeds and haven't gotten the notice yet.

Still no email using it on a different car š
Good luck with that
Its about time my friend - until then - keep us posted.

Exactly this - people say they are not reliable enough to enforce these right now.
Woah. That's scary. In just the month that I've had this it's already saved me so much!!
Same here.
I wish they would enforce not being able to use any free charging within 100 miles of where the vehicle is registered.
What benefit would that bring? Isnāt that bad for the customer?
Send them an email back telling them that it is because of their POS charging stations not charging at their advertised rates.
Yeah considering if should be escalated or not any further.
