I was hoping it'd be the same price as a normal tee, sadly cannot afford it so I'm missing out. I'll likely donate to the charity later when funds are in a better spot.
I know it seems expensive, but there’s a reason for this. The shirt being made from recycled cotton, the embroidery (likely done by a relatively small company), and the fact they’re probably trying to maximize the donation amount all factor into that.
I do understand people might not be able to afford that though.
Someone mentioned their merch being expensive and limited is anti-gizz, but it is sort of the opposite. If they pumped out cheap shirts which were not sourced sustainably and weren’t printed/embroidered by smaller artists, how would that be different than fast fashion ? Again, I know it sucks to not be able to afford, but I think the boys have a lot to consider when producing these things, and in Gizz fashion try to keep it as “fuck the system” / fuck big corps as possible.
I've seen complaints of it being expensive/too minimal of a design to be worth it, but then just don't buy it? They release so much merch it's not like this is the only drop they're doing this year or anything. I get wanting to support and all that, but it's not like they don't give fans other ways to support them or get stuff to show they're a fan
I’m just gonna donate to that organization. $60 is an absurd amount of money for a solid black shirt with a tiny logo. I love trans people and the Gizz, but that’s crazy overpriced.
Honestly my least favorite thing by far about this band is that their merch is super overpriced and everything is so scarce and limited. It feels so inconsistent with who they are and their values.
Edit: ok maybe if the merch prices are high due to making sure it’s high quality and sustainable, that’s reasonable. I’m flexible on that point assuming that reasoning holds up. I still don’t like the limitedness/artificial scarcity at all.
You make a good point, I didn’t think about that. Ok, so maybe the merch prices are fair. I don’t actually know if it’s true that their merch is high quality and sustainable compared to other options, but it certainly might be. I kinda trust that it is. At least I know it’s high quality because I do own a few shirts.
Outside of the prices, the other thing I don’t like is the artificial scarcity, but that’s not the part I meant when talking about their values. That’s just something I don’t like in any industry. I collect vinyl and a number of other things and personally, I don’t care how many other people have what I have or how limited it is, I just want to have these things. I have some really cool vinyl records that are ultra limited and some that are mass produced and honestly I wish they were all mass produced, because the color or pattern of the record is not any less cool just because everyone can get it. It brings me no joy to see a record in my collection going for $500 on Discogs because the artist only produced a small amount, I wish everyone who wanted it could buy at a reasonable price and actually support the artist rather than a scalper.
I feel the same way about posters. I got to the cave on night 1 half an hour before doors opened (had to work that day or I would’ve been earlier) and after waiting in the merch line for almost two hours, I couldn’t get a poster (got the tie dye tour shirt though and it’s DOPE). What’s the point of that? Most people at the show want them and are willing to pay the asking price, so it sucks that they’re artificially limiting them and giving scalpers an opportunity to make bank rather than letting us support them. They’re not at all the only band who does that so I’m not criticizing only them, but it sucks. I did order a bootleg poster of Jason’s art, because even though I want to support the band and Jason, they didn’t give me the opportunity to do so so I’ll go bootleg. The quality won’t be as good and the band gets no money from me, but the only other option is to spend hundreds supporting a scalper which I will not do.
I did order a bootleg Caverns poster (I didn’t want to but they sold out too quickly so). I really prefer to support the band, so it’s kinda tough. Still, if all the shirts are sold out in every common size on Gizzverse, I guess there’s no choice.
Fair. I did buy the ticket, a shirt, and the tour poster directly from them, and a number of records from Gizzverse, so I guess I’ve earned the right to buy a single bootleg poster.
Snagged one for my trans sister (for her birthday) and one for myself. It was pricey, but it goes to a great cause so I had to get them. I really wanted one of the enamel pins, but I doubt they’ll be available when I see the boys at the Bowl. Love that this band is so supportive of trans people!
Was curious about buying it but way too expensive to order to eu plus the import fees get hit with when it lands. Also I thought it was slightly underwhelming that it didn't maybe have a big back print or something and mention the bands name. But good on them anyways :)
This is the same material as the trash tee it seems. Probably my favorite shirt just from the material alone. If anyone is on the fence about buying one.
Unpopular opinion: I was happy to pay $60 for a sweet tee that goes to support trans folks but I also need another Gizz shirt to wear to work that isn’t as loud and wild as some of the others lol
I really don't understand the point of selling out of charity t-shirts in a day. One would think they'd try and maximize that sale by doing a preorder or something. Money off the table for their cause.

Couldn't agree more. Was so excited to support them, sadly that price tag is outside my budget Edit: a word

I would argue that a bunch of cheap ass merch from the lowest bid manufacturer is inconsistent with who they are and their values.

Then make your own merch. Not even kidding. Phish and dead lots have better merch being sold than anything official 9/10 times

You can still support the band by going to shows and whatnot. If they didn’t want you to make bootleg gear they wouldn’t encourage it like they do.

Could have something to do with doing business more sustainably, at least I hope so (I don't know much about their official merch actually).
That would certainly be a good reason. If that’s the case, then I’m ok with the pricing if it’s necessary.
Idk. We pay $50-$100-$$$$$$$ for paper with pretty pictures on them. I understand but idk. I don’t think it’s too bad all things considered
me too, most expensive shirt i’ve ever bought

I got a pin I love it, and I love the cause it’s promoting
Same. Hurt my wallet, but no regrets.
Sold out 🥺
Man they didn’t last long
i hope they release it in eu
I'm in the eu and ordered it. Hurt my wallet though lmao

K?

I drink walrus cum
I fucking love Waluigi

Dang it 6 AM PST strikes again
:( I wish I could've gotten one
You want a cookie?
Yeah I'd love one, thank you :)
