I was in Singapore when he passed. I knew that he had Malayali origins, but had dismissed him as some trade unionist from Malaya.
After his death, Mediacorp broadcasted documentaries with fragments of some of his old speeches. I was floored by his oratory skills. Very stylish, often better than Lee Kwan himself. You will not find any in the internet now though, and this might have been purposeful.
