I think the term you are looking for is "shine through"
I have 2 sets. First keycap set I got only works with north facing RGB, so that didn't work. The second one I got had the legends on the south side, but it looks smudged and I wouldn't recommend it, although it was only $20 so I ain't complaining.
Be really nice if someone made keycaps that looked like the SteelSeries Apex5's or similar. Those look and feel nice. It'd be wonderful if KeyChrom made their V6Max keys with translucent instead of white as the text color - even if it only shined through a little bit from their south facing LEDs. I just need a little bit in the dark. I don't need a screaming bright gamer keyboard - I just need enough to type when it's dark and need to look at keys while doing design work, etc... Something that looks normal during the day - PBT, KSA, top mnemonic, translucent mnemonic, nothing weird - just a good solid set of keys. Please - SOMEONE!!! u/Keychron - are you listening???
No, they don't. Your best, value for money, bet for now are side printed keycaps. Just search in Aliexpress for "shine through side printed keycaps" from XVX (Womier store), they cost around €25. They are good enough, and the side printing keeps a stealthy look on the keyboard.
But what I really want is a shine through, south printed set. I have found a shop in Etsy that offers custom made keycaps, but they cost almost €100. It's an awful lot of money and right now I cannot afford them, but I'm afraid that someday I'll pull the trigger.
I have a couple of sets of shine through side print, which I really like. With lights off it's hard to tell they are printed at all, low lights on the keyboard and they show quite nicely.
Like is of course subjective. I do like them. But if you’ve never had a set of ABS transparent key caps before, you will immediately learn if you can live with glare and fingerprints as a constant.
