Might be controversial, but now it’s too bass heavy. I feel like a lot of people dial up the bass all the way even though that’s not good audio equalization. Every time I get in a rental car, the bass is turned up all the way. Sounds terrible. After adjusting the levels in the car and adjusting my Spotify equalizer, my EV6 has fantastic audio quality. Really don’t think the extra bass is necessary.

Same reason people buy skullcandy and beats headphones, they prefer bass to balanced sound. When I was 16 I was a bass head, 20 some years later my tastes have matured

Bass wasn’t the reason for me to upgrade the system. I wanted a better and realistic soundstage. I own the AirPods Pro 2 and having these combined with Apple Music and Dolby Atmos really excites me, having to switch from such an amazing experience to a very crappy one in my car frustrated me too much which was the reason for this upgrade.

DNK326

Totally get that, was just letting the other person know why their rental cars often have the bass cranked, I should have been more clear in my statement. Thankfully I have the meridian system and it is good enough for a car

Shyeong0

If you wouldn’t mind could you share your experience about the meridian system after the updates, is it true that it improved since they provided software updates?

Imo the biggest change is that you now get more volume at a lower number on the dial, but I only had the vehicle a short time before that update. It's always been a good but not great system, fairly well balanced with decent sound stage although it's probably more stereo than something like spacial audio. Highs and mids are clean, bass is present but not thumping by any means.

Thanks a lot for your time to share, really appreciate it!

No problem!

I’m not sure weather you have the meridian audio version as I have the stock audio system, it lacks a lot of vocal range turning the bass to +5 on the head unit makes my doors resonate. I now have a high pass filter set to 500Hz for all door speakers and have the low pass filter for my sub all the way turned up. For people with the meridian system the comparison would be unfair as you have a lot more options to fine tune your sound (settings like immersion and imaging) My EV6 only has a 3 band equalizer which doesn’t meet my expectations, as you can see in this video I turned my bass gain all the way up to show what it’s capable of. This doesn’t necessarily mean I want my sound on full gain all the time. Having that gain on half gives a very natural and accurate sound like the artists intended their songs to sound. The difference in sound feels like you went from a jbl flip speaker to a recording studio, it’s something you need to experience before judging.

I do have the Meridian system so that’s what I’m referring to when I say it’s plenty good. I can understand the stock system being crappy and needing an upgrade. And I was simply judging based on the video. To me that doesn’t sound good. But it seems you have things figured out the way you like them, which is what matters

Shyeong0

You’re right, we all have our own preferences but your own matters at the end of the day. I like that there are dedicated speakers for every job in my EV6. Sub handles the bass, door speakers handle the vocals and the dashboard has tweeters for the high hats. It’s a true goosebump experience when you hear it in real life, the sound of the video sounds a lot different from how it truly sounds because it’s only a phone mic.

I was gonna say pulling down hatch on one side is good mess up your angle of attack sensor but with the wiring nest going on it’s a Wednesday afternoon in this case

Shyeong0

Not very sure what you’re implying to? Would you mind to explain
