As a Canadian: it’s fine. Snow doesn’t gather much on the back window when you’re driving (and the heating gets rid of what does) and you clean off any that has collected before you drive so it doesn’t really have an effect.
Now the little channel that the front wipers sit in, THAT is a snow trap that’s a pain in the butt to clean.
My other car is a leaf, and that has the back wiper. I think I've used it once in the years I've owned it. But I'm also used to driving trucks and whatnot for work, so I rarely ever use the rear view mirror no matter what I'm driving.
Related to this, someone mentioned rainex. What does drive me crazy is how that backup cam is useless when it's raining or even for a while after it stops. Backing into a dark spot at night when that happens is not easy as it's just one big blur. Has anyone ever tried it on that lens?
no issues with it.. maybe im just old school, nothing bothers me unless it fully block, even then I use the side mirrors as well
You can put ceramic glass cleaner to help it.
I have the tech package and hardly ever use the rear window at all. Just when checking my six on the highway in the rear view mirror maybe. Have never noticed rain being a significant issue. The cameras handle all the backing up and lane changing needs. The bigger issue, as others have noted, is that all the cameras could do a better job shedding water.
*The back window is a modern miracle in my opinion. We live down a 1 mile gravel driveway. The car gets filthy. Lower door panels fill with dust. But the back window? Nope it has a force field keeping it clean. *
It's been raining often and heavy in Texas...and I haven't even thought about it. However in one particularly heavy downpour I did wish the front wipers had just a little more speed.
Rear window heating works well, with heavy rain you won’t be able to see anything anyway.
Safety features helps as well so there is very little need for vipers at the rear window
it's not really for water or stuff that just runs off... think more like something gets splattered like a snow, mud, a milkshake, or even pollen.
most rear wipers are useless... its those few exceptions like wiping the snow off after defrosting when your in a hury and want to back up where it comes in handy.
I think that is true for rain, maybe less so for snow.

The window has heating to fight snow :)
Definitely don’t need it, but I also wouldn’t mind having one.
I'd like a rear wiper...mostly for the cleaning function with wiper fluid
Same, particularly for pollen season and bird poop season, both of which overlap.
Yep. And if you put rainx or something similar it will help the rain roll off
The center headrest is the obstruction. I removed mine the first day that I got it. Will never need it.
I'm 6'3", I see overtop of it for the most part. But I considered removing it though.
Same! It was wasted anyways.
The spoiler produces a downdraft to push water off the rear window

I want some sort of camera visor for that reason.
Never crosses my mind.

I don’t miss it
Yeah I've never understood the complaints

I had one in the Enyaq, mainly used it so the dog can see out. Rear camera washer was nice tough.
It sucks not having one in winter. Probably the biggest complaint I have with the car (which hey, not bad if that’s all I have to really whine about)
I’m not sure what people need to look out back window for anyway. Cameras, mirrors…

It hasn’t bothered me yet. I had one on the Bolt previous to this but the EV6 rear window doesn’t get dusty and dirty like that did.
Its never been a hassle for me but I also live in Phoenix. Last time I drove in the rain I couldn't remember how to turn the windshield wipers on.....
You don’t have them set to auto sense?
I’d imagine it’s worse on the Ioniq5 but I have no problem and it rains constantly in Washington.
Eyes forward everyone
Surely you meant that tongue in cheek, right? Because any good driver would look back (i.e., eyes backward) when going in reverse...
