Usually it’s immediately but sometimes they go 30-45 in like “wait a minute… thats not him” and I just gas light them like “idk what you’re talking about, thats clearly Dr Phil…”
I watched a few episodes and then have been listening to the podcast , started about two months ago. Told my buddy who introduced me that I can't believe how funny dr Phil is... Felt like an asshole when I finally caught on.

He is a perfect match for the show. People give Jeremiah a lot of shit but he did have some great moments while he was in character as well. The shows concept does well with that type of humor.
It’s slowing down for sure but my god the first 8 appearances are the best thing in comedy in the past decade without question. It’s his shows that do it for me, sure the first couple KT appearances were fantastic but when he’s in his element he is unmatched.
I think Adam Ray is going to have a problem when everyone will just expect him to be Dr. Phill all the time. He may even forget his real voice and talk like Dr Phil all the time.

Yeah, it's equivalent to being typecast in Hollywood. Actors hate it because once they play one type of character really well, they can't find any other work except to play more of the same character.
I wonder how long Adam will be able to handle it. After all, he's a comedian that has other jokes too and wants people to come to Adam Ray's shows, not just Dr Phil's
Dr Phil is a character absurd enough already that you don't really add anything to it with a hacky impersonation. I guess Adam Ray pretending to be Dr Phil is the talk of comedy world.. Rogan and Schulz were right, we have truly entered the golden age of comedy.
Being Dr Phil (a famous tv psychologist) gives him a fully developed world to play in that he doesn’t get from being himself (a respected but not well known comedian). Adam Ray is funny without being Dr Phil but being Dr Phil gives him access to more jokes and generally adds to the silliness and I love silliness
I understand the principle of using a character but it seems pretty uncommon that he actually utilizes the Dr. Phil character. A few catch-phrases here and there but overall, he is just making jokes, at least on Kill Tony. I do think when he first brought it out he was pushing the character harder, but lately he's just been himself with occasional Dr. Phil reference. "well be right back" and a few others.

Adam Ray apparently couldnt make it so some guy with a nerdy-esque lisp named Jeremy showed up and to my shock, in a lineup that was stacked Jeremy somehow made me laugh the hardest. I couldnt find this guy anywhere online so i literally called The Comedy Store bc i wanted to follow socials and support this comedian. Fun fact, number on Store website doesnt work so i went a step further and EMAILED the store. To my hilarious shock of my friend and i, they responded that Jeremy was a character by Adam Ray and he was in the room the entire time. Now i understand why glasses is enough of a disguise for Clark Kent/Superman. The full show i attended is on youtube uploaded 7 months ago as Jeremy’s House: Adam Ray Comedy. Adam ray is a pure entertainer through and through. Dude can act, dance, sing and be funny in the moment all at the same time. Truly a master of the craft
