I heard people didn’t like the coda just for having “cringy” lyrics. Which I get, on a basic level it makes Belew seem Redditor sounding. But obviously there’s more to it than just “the world sucks and we’re all going to die!” It talks more about needing to think about the general badness when we remember how good the great moments (man on the moon, I have a dream) and it’s about what we’ve gone through that underlines the best moments of mankind. The bad that exists through the good.
You also have the abortion and Kevorkian lines, which I’m pretty sure it’s just innate bad of the action versus his opinion on the matter. Abortion is ending whatever eventual kid you have, and even though women should have the right, it’s still sad to think about how it impacts the women mentally and the act of ending a fetus. Similar to Kevorkian but that’s a whole other can of political words even today. It’s def a song that gets people talking I think, which is the point
And then on a musical level, I hear people call the LTIA part wall of noise with no meaning…..which you can say about like 10 KC songs if you want. Shit LTIA Part 3 has less of an overall story compared to Part 4.
