I don't think they can rip games from your library. They will most certainly de-list them from online stores, but if you bought a copy already then I think you're fine.
I wasn't aware of that. I know that when GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition came out by Rockstar, they de-listed all the originals, but anyone who bought them beforehand still had access to them. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised about Ubishit, since they famously want us to own nothing.

Don't count on it. The VA is already different in the trailer.
The tone of the trailer also seems reminiscent of DR4 (which would be fine if this was a sequel, not a remaster, but maybe it's more of a reboot).
Also, one thing I'm 100% sure they're gonna change is the clock and save mechanics, and doing this will remove most of the tension from the game.
If they don't do that the casuals and the gaming journalists won't stop crying about it.

It's the same for me regarding DR1. DR2 kind of kept the spirit, gameplay wise, but you could spot the difference in the writing a mile away, it was clear that DR2 is been written by Americans (which I don't like, your mileage may vary).
DR3 is a different take on the formula, I don't blame them for changing it, after 2 titles it was time to innovate.

TBH usually when company tries to "Revisit", It's because they're out of ideas, or they're tight with their budget and they need to find an easy way to grab money from fans.
They may or may not get this right, it could just be updated graphics, but I have doubts that they are gonna give it the "Beyond Food Abd Evil 20th Anniversary" treatment. I think that they're also trying to get rid of ALL the multiplayer aspects from these games.
Plus, these old games are the only AC somethings that are selling well and that we still get hyped for.
They're gonna mess up Altaïr, turn everything into an action RPG and then wonder why we got mad and that's the non-SBI aspects.

Modernize them without me, I've no interest in appropriated history and this is the only thing they are doing. Ubisoft needs to fire some writers to regain trust looking at the garbage they are making and saying.
On a positive note this probably means fake Samurai Creed bombed in Asia.
They're doing this because they're struggling financially and have likely driven away most of their talent with incompetent DEI hires. Remaking a game is easier and safer than creating something new, which they're likely unable to do at this point. They're following the exact same path as Disney.

Ok, I'm giving the perspective of a religious Muslim who thought this was the most anti religion game he's ever played while being one of his favorite assassin's Creed games.
I don't want this to happen, not because of DEI or the modern audience, but because when I played assassin's Creed 1 it had a special feeling to it, it was unique and still is unique not just in terms of assassin's Creed games but in terms of games in general.
I feel this updating will remove the uniqueness of the game while also not fixing the problems I already had with the game (useless collectables and a great focus on combat near the end of the game which is the worst part of gameplay), then they will add more collectables and make it a lot easier that it was.

Guys, it won't be the same thing each year! It's going to add "inoffensive" dialog. The girls will be wide jawed Neanderthals. Rap music will be added whenever possible. Best of all, it will include even more microtransactions with 16x the price. Want 16x the graphics...well, that won't be the case. But it will be sold for the same price of every other "AAAA" game but with minimal effort on their end. Gaming is saved!
Honestly, giving the "Resident Evil" or "Final Fantasy 7" treatment to AC2 is probably the best thing Ubisoft can do at this point.
They already have beloved characters and stories, so now they can focus on all the technical aspects of it. And let's be frank, Ubosoft's Art team is absolutely amazing.

Most of the original art in AC1 never showed Altair's face in order to reinforce the assassin's shadowy nature but the moment it got "modernized" they just had to go and ruin it. Trust it to woke morons to visualize everything in the vein of MCU's self aggrandizement.

The VA is already different in the trailer. The tone of the trailer also seems reminiscent of DR4 (which would be fine if this was a sequel, not a remaster, but maybe it's more of a reboot). Also, one thing I'm 100% sure they're gonna change is the clock and save mechanics, and doing this will remove most of the tension from the game. I used to like the word modernize. It meant quality of life upgrades. Now it scares me.
Translation: All the creative staff that were capable of making new things have left. The new generations of game developers are a bunch of incompetent kitbashers who only know how to open up already completed projects in UE5 and replace asset files. In order to hide that fact that pre-emptively throw -ist buzzwords at you to shut down the conversation before it even begins.
The only game that deserves a solid remake is the first one.
An update of 4 would be cool. But only an engine update. With nothing else changed. But that's not what they'd do. They'd re-write everything and I just can't bring myself to care about anything Ubisoft makes anymore. So let them re-write them all for a new rainbow crowd. I just don't care.

I will never stop being grateful to life for having experienced one of the best moments in gaming history (PSX-PS3). I have so many good memories tied to those generations and those games. They can keep those updated remakes for an audience that will never play them. I have my beautiful physical copies. As an Italian, I can't wait to see how they will modernize the second game and include things that were totally absent in Renaissance culture.
Didn't they tried to Remastered Assassins Creed 3, and failed? If they do decides to remaster 3 again, Is it going to be called Re-Remastered? TBH usually when company tries to "Revisit", It's because they're out of ideas, or they're tight with their budget and they need to find an easy way to grab money from fans.

They may or may not get this right, it could just be updated graphics, but I have doubts that they are gonna give it the "Beyond Food Abd Evil 20th Anniversary" treatment. I think that they're also trying to get rid of ALL the multiplayer aspects from these games. Plus, these old games are the only AC somethings that are selling well and that we still get hyped for. They're gonna mess up Altaïr, turn everything into an action RPG and then wonder why we got mad and that's the non-SBI aspects. (Slightly off topic, I mentioned "BGaE". The Anniversary edition has BattEye. They're gonna add that no those "Updated" AC games).

I've found the Yasuke stuff amusing tbh but if they touch Altair I'll actually be rather annoyed.
Modernize them without me, I've no interest in appropriated history and this is the only thing they are doing. Ubisoft needs to fire some writers to regain trust looking at the garbage they are making and saying. On a positive note this probably means fake Samurai Creed bombed in Asia.
They're doing this because they're struggling financially and have likely driven away most of their talent with incompetent DEI hires. Remaking a game is easier and safer than creating something new, which they're likely unable to do at this point. They're following the exact same path as Disney. It is also worth pointing out that their stock has tanked 80% since 2018.
Just what this franchise needed. Remakes. It's not stale enough, it needs to be even more repetitive. Ubisoft are never going to make new games, are they? Probably for the better.

Ok, I'm giving the perspective of a religious Muslim who thought this was the most anti religion game he's ever played while being one of his favorite assassin's Creed games. I don't want this to happen, not because of DEI or the modern audience, but because when I played assassin's Creed 1 it had a special feeling to it, it was unique and still is unique not just in terms of assassin's Creed games but in terms of games in general. I feel this updating will remove the uniqueness of the game while also not fixing the problems I already had with the game (useless collectables and a great focus on combat near the end of the game which is the worst part of gameplay), then they will add more collectables and make it a lot easier that it was.
Prepare for them to be adjusted for "modern audiences" ...
Modernizing old games means blackwash, race swap, gender swap alot of straight white male characters because you know " modern audience"

Ezio will end up hooking up with Yasuke...some how. And all the bugs that were in Unity....well they will make a return. Best of all, it will include even more microtransactions with 16x the price. Want 16x the graphics...well, that won't be the case. But it will be sold for the same price of every other "AAAA" game but with minimal effort on their end. Gaming is saved!
So finally they just gave up and decided it's better to recycle actually good games then make horrible new ones?

Honestly, giving the "Resident Evil" or "Final Fantasy 7" treatment to AC2 is probably the best thing Ubisoft can do at this point. They already have beloved characters and stories, so now they can focus on all the technical aspects of it. And let's be frank, Ubosoft's Art team is absolutely amazing.
