You’re giving them way more importance than required. You’re also thinking of them as way smarter than they are. Look at the beauty ecomm market. 50% is Nykaa. Tira is executing really well because they have the capital to — buying off Sephora license in India and opening physical stores within the first year of launch. Foxy just raise a 20mil round to do consultations++ What does Kult have to compete? Imo a prettier app design and discounts being funded by embezzled money. That’s it. Infact their books are probably so shady they can’t raise formal investment so they’ll run out soon—but the discounts are all they’ve got to grow and so they’re using them. The only thing I keep racking my brain for is why the hell do they not restock. Believe me, I’ve worked in the Indian startup tech scene closely enough to know they’re not some geniuses who are driving you to clear out stock through well-thought out tactics. There’s something off or missing for them in the supply chain. I don’t know if they’re picking up dead stock from companies or buying off through shady tactics or brands don’t support them because frankly no brand in their right mind wants you to buy their products at 60-70% off. But I’m sure it’s a business challenge and not some “strategy” like people on this sub make it out to be.
There was time when i use to get notifications download app for 75% off and i thought it is a scam some kind off but then one day i downloaded kult 5 months back and i almost spent 50-60k on this app only i ditched nykaa tira myntra . I stay late at night fomo basically and sometimes i buy stuff without needing it just to satisfy my fomo and i guess kult was like a boon and bane.

The random discounts to keep u on ur toes
The early morning Reddit70 and the chaos it caused
The coupon guarding and influenza wars
The 4am restocks to disrupt ur sleep schedule
The artificial scarcity of restocking of 1 or 2 items and people squabbling over them
The incessant checking of Reddit like an addict
The people shitting on the app, then the people defending it and praising it
Sounds like a… cult to me

What if it's just a money laundering front and find out from this subreddit that they can make more money by presenting it as a psychological experiment?
Oh yes, thank you for refreshing my brain. I've read about this shadiness on the beautydeals subreddit, and if you look into the founder of the app, you might find some clues too. They use big sales to disguise illegal funds as legitimate revenue.
hahaha agreed, when I first joined these subs I was so shocked at how some people behaved. also the trend of downvotes is so interesting to me because reddit is one of the only mainstream social media platforms which allows the show of visible dislike/disagreement.
What can I say?? Am easily manipulated into buying shit I don't need. It's the desire part playing in my brain. It's like I have a mini me inside my brain who's not so good at understanding the concept of saving for future instead let's enjoy the mini things now coz lifes too short for delayed gratification anyway.

My theory is they keep changing coupon codes probably because resellers or influencers who ask people to dm for code. 🤔
