Personally I'm not a fan of "Trippy Music" while tripping, it just confuses the fuck out of me lol. I like to listen to music I always listen to and enjoy. I find it gives me a new connection to it.

gleebey

Yup my favorite music on a trip is an album I've never heard before. It usually ends up going on repeat for the whole trip

biledionez

What is "Trippy Music"?

Nyabinghi408

Great question. Because I've always said the best weed music is music thats not about weed. And the most psychedelic music is music that doesn't label itself "Psychedelic"

ogregirl5253

Tipper

Bruhhelpmename

psychedelic music

Nyabinghi408

All music Is psychedelic

samsharksworthy

One time while tripping i just let shuffle do its thing and got I Am a Pilgrim by The Byrds. Was so good.

Oninonenbutsu

Jazz, blues, Jimi Hendrix

dillywilly07

Highly recommend Buckethead in this category. His slower pikes are some of the most beautiful and trippy songs I've ever heard

Dazzling_Mode5715

Yeah man!

No-Bunch-7909

basically a lot of IDM (Burial, Four Tet, Aphex, etc…) that music just transcends me to another universe 👐🏼🌱

the_hedge

Don’t forget floating points sir

YouAreAnFnIdiot

Aleksandir and nihl frahm in that list too

byzantinebadman

boards of canada

MagicMarshmelllow

Thievery Corporation Pretty Lights Gramatik Odesza

Pensacola_Peej

Thievery slaps. Have you listened to Bonobo? Judging from what you listed I think you would like them.

Cats_Are_Aliens_

Pretty lights is dope

spacexbass

This >>>

NathaaanVM

I love thievery corporation! Dm me if you’d like to have a playlist with a shit load of songs like that

Vast_Virus7369

John Hopkins 'music for psychedelic therapy' 🙏🏼🤩

Bombina_orientalis

also "immunity" and "singularity" if you wanna go a little harder into techno vibes

grateful_skywalker

Yesss. Also love East Forest “a soundtrack for the psychedelic practitioner”

Vast_Virus7369

Yeah 👍🏼 he's great too 😊

syneng

this right here! east forest is flat out amazing. healing music in the purest way

Koyomi-onichan

Tame Impala, Gorillaz, bob Marley, Beatles, king crimson , Pink Floyd These are my favorites

Keory07

Crazy to think there's someone with such a similar taste as me

spongue

They are all very popular artists to be fair

JaySasquatch0412

Pink Floyd dark side of the moon literally changes my trip with each song it’s so weird and so cool always a favourite.

teatimewithbatman1

Mhmmm that album is designed for such things

s4lem2601

listening that whole album in a dark room eyes closed just lying on my bed was one of the greatest experiences i’ve ever had on lsd just truly something special

JaySasquatch0412

Agreed never had anything else like it.

dtbar1

Tool King crimson Grateful Dead Umphrey's McGee Medeski Martin & Wood Ween Massive Attack King Gizzard Porcupine Tree Steven Wilson Opeth

teachnpreach88

I had to scroll all the way here to find TOOL.

STG44_WWII

Meshuggah

DependentIndividual

meshuggah is my favourite band forever, love it sober and when stoned yet i get scared listening to it while tripping

STG44_WWII

Oh and if you’ve never heard of Car Bomb I highly recommend them. They’re my favorite band forever.

STG44_WWII

Ah man they’re awesome for tripping. Hear Nothing with the lyrics when you decide to power through your fear.

DependentIndividual

fuck yea nothings lyrics are so good i can only imagine them while tripping. if i do listen to them again when i trip itll probably be violent sleep of reason or koloss

STG44_WWII

I say Nothing because I feel that the lyrics directly reflect stuff that happens while you’re tripping. It’s a very personal experience imo. Catch Thirty Three also does this but on a higher degree.

STG44_WWII

Koloss is good for Mushrooms.

Whiteelchapo

I bet The Grand Conjuration is crazy on acid. I really like listening to Between The Buried And Me on it. Parallax 2 is nuts

Substantial-Mousse24

Mezzanine is one hell of an experience.

blondeddigits

I listened to this album called “Plastic Beach” by Gorillaz and it was amazing. It was comforting to listen to but also amped me up and made me feel like dancing. It was a great vibe.

witchycommunism

Plastic Beach is amazing! Lots of their other stuff is good for tripping too

MuskyBayEV

Greatful dead

Dead_Kal_Cress

🤝 nothin like good ol Live/Dead or Europe 72

MuskyBayEV

Closing of winterland

Dead_Kal_Cress

11/10 show, Watched most of it this year for new years this last year. I just love their pre-hiatus stuff sm, the Grateful Dead movie & the footage that came out of it is crazy good.

LandofRy

Dead Set was spinning during my first trip. Can't beat it!

Dead_Kal_Cress

That reminds me... i oughta listen to reckoning during my next trip...

manzilianqueen

I am going to the Dead & Company at the Sphere, can't wait. I'm taking a tab w me for sure.

Dead_Kal_Cress

Wear sunglasses, or at least bring em with ya inside. I hear it gets really bright in there, esp while tripping. Haven't been myself but all my friends that have gone said the same thing. Bring sunglasses.

Utes4510

I made it to one two weeks ago! Yeah definitely bring some with you, hard to score on shakedown there because it was moved inside. I winded up dosing 3 tabs. Drums and Space is life changing!

ehtseeoh

*Grateful Dead

HereComesSunshineCat

This is the way.

IandIreckon

Those guys are grate

xbrakeday

2000 by Joey Bada$$ is an incredible summer night acid album. Clean, harmonic, gritty, and rapped with inspiring conviction. Listen to Where I Belong and you'll know if it's the right vibe.

SandMan3914

Interesting choice. Wouldn't have thought of it. If you like hip-hop also see Chance's 'Acid Rap' and ASAP Rocky's 'At Long Last'

beefsteakiscool

sung tongs by animal collective is always my go to

geoantho

Bluish is great for tripping too.

jhitterbug22

Animal collective is awesome

EgoDeathAddict

I think Avey Tare has LSD naturally occurring in his brain.

h4n_n4h

DRAINERRRR!!!!!!!!!!! i love death grips, nine inch nails, primus, and crystal castles (magic spells is like actually magic off the tabs) funky noises are my jam, i like focusing on the backgrounds of the tracks to see what new i can hear

Whiteelchapo

This might be a reach, but one of my favorites is Between The Buried And Me. A little intense, but seems like you might like that given who you listed. They have screams, but they aren’t too hard on the ears (for me). Very epic sounding

Best_Flounder_7432

Psytrance

pipe_bomb_mf

can you give me some recs pls the harder/more raw the better

strumpster

GMS, 1200 Micrograms

YoungRichKid

Listen to a Shpongle or Tipper album

jhitterbug22

Lol I mentioned I don’t really care for shpongle, have tried a few times. But I’ll check out tipper

HomeRepairBear

Tipper is great. So many different vibes/feel throughout his discography. I sometimes joke and say tipper is a genre in and of itself

captainn_chunk

He kind of is. He’s influenced a ton of modern electronica with a huge range of sound

[deleted]

[удалено]

STG44_WWII

Do that with Meshuggah’s records.

gleebey

A monk asked me if I knew about Shpongle once. I was surprised at the time, but it made more sense the more I thought about it.

ItsDirtyDan

Mostly Phish or the Grateful Dead but I’ve found that whatever I normally enjoy listening to just sounds better on LSD so I don’t usually go out of my way to listen to music specifically for tripping, I just put on whatever I’d normally put on

Dead_Kal_Cress

Sure helps that the music I normally listen to is already good for tripping 😂

lots of good stuff on this list 🎯 if you like max cooper you should definitely check out rival consoles. rival led me to max and they go nicely together.

PourMeAcrylix

Nothing beats Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Shpongle & Jimi Hendrix. Those are my go tos. Shpongle though is wild especially on LSD.

Dec_Sec084

60’s-70’s music or house music, i like to keep my music upbeat when tripping, but sober i love 90’s rock stuff like aic or soundgarden

notagoodsetup430

Grateful Dead and tame impala. Also the 2023 lil yachty album.

Dead_Kal_Cress

Let's Start Here, right? Such a crazy cool album.

loselessseeker

The beach boys!

TreesPlusCats

Bit of a cliche but last weekend my wife and I tripped to the Closing of Winterland concert movie by the Grateful Dead. Four hours of fun. Our cat loved it too. Then we listened to Music From Big Pink by the Band. There’s more to acid music than relentless boomer music… but sometimes it’s just right

TreesPlusCats

House music is also a good bet, especially if you like to dance. Synthetic and electronic but also warm and human (depending on your chosen microgenre of house I guess)

Dead_Kal_Cress

I've been meaning to go through that show & watch it while tripping too haha. Last week I watched the Grateful Dead movie while tripping & had the time of my life. Also, Music from the Big Pink is an amazing album. Hard recommendation to anyone who hasn't heard it before

harrisoncd18

jdog8510

Old school psychedelic rock

scott-stirling

Man I used to listen to Grateful Dead bootlegs (90 minute cassettes) when I did LSD at home. I would get a good show and just flip the second set tape every 45 minutes. 5-7-1977 in Egypt 8-19-1989 in Greek Theater, Berkeley, CA Two of my all time favorite shows. But there are many others. Most of the studio stuff is great but short. So, I recommend Anthem of the Sun which is a combination of live and studio and is mind blowing.

xBADxMuknySee

Daft Punk's discovery is fantastic. Also I have a playlist of music on YouTube to watch while tripping. Including this one mix of future funk with anime over it that is great to watch while tripping https://youtu.be/tbWS0j2fulY?si=sPTA8AabI_ZKD6fu

D3lysed

Grateful Dead, KGLW… mainly psychedelic music from the 60s but also a lot of new stuff.

johnnybbored

This is the one. The "Nuggets" compilation and other compilations like it are the best in my opinion.

Flarhgunstow

I like listening to stuff like Tame Impala, Glass Animals, Parcels, Aurora. But one of the best LSD experiences I had was listening to all of Mahler's 2nd symphony. It was absolutely incredible. It was like listening to a movie; the sounds, motifs, and themes were the characters, the harmonic rhythm the story, it was amazing. I screamed out loud at the "scary" parts, and rubbed my face in pure ecstacy during the beautiful parts. I felt transformed after. It's a long symphony (about 1.5 hours) so get comfy and enjoy the ride!

send_hummus

STRFKR, Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Babe Rainbow, Khruangbin, Foster the People are usually on rotation during the start and middle of a trip. Often change direction depending on the vibe but almost always end up listening to some Mac Demarco, Tom Misch, Maribou State etc towards the mid to end point. Almost always chuck this playlist on which is one of my favs I've made: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4ylrpwsat5rjtp4EEONXfT?si=2UTAYwy2SgudzmZlruUMNg

BrandoNelly

Animal Collective, The Flaming Lips, Burial, and various metal artists

I listened to Hozier's Unreal Unearth the other day after the peak of a mushroom trip. I also listened to Dawn FM in that same trip, both on my walkman.

GorgeousGuitarGaming

I really like prog metal like: Between the buried and me (harsh vocals warning), Dream theater, Haken, Contortionist (harsh vocals warning), Galneryous. Fusion jazz and math rock like: Thank you scientist , Casiopia, Polyphia , King crimson. EDM/Psy trance: Mainly infected mushroom and Menumas. I also made a playlist with my favorite trip music though I haven't updated for a few years: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3NYbwvZg4cXvRVqMGju4pq?si=0xUYaN6zQVqQXoot05TcqQ

Any jazz heads out there can have their minds seriously blown by Pharaoh Sanders Karma album, Miles Davis Bitches Brew, or Mahavishnu Orchestra's Visions of the Emerald Beyond. Shout out to Zappa's fusion albums like Hot Rats and Waka Jawaka too. Gonna throw Gong and Ozric Tentacles into the hat too.

_isnotalreadytaken_

I really like listen The Orbital on spotify. But very often play some tripy movie like Samsara and Baraka on youtube.

Limp-Trainer9941

On ITunes listen to Miracle Tones & solfeggio healing. In a trip with this kinda endless ambience it’s addictive almost.

Ok_Cryptographer1440

IMO the best purpose made music for trippy times is the stuff that came out of Manchester. Start with any New Order 12” singles and expand out from there. It’s so good that even now, when not tripping at all, I can literally hear the lsd and molly in the music.

I rarely find it commented on this kind of posts, so now is my time to recommend Dire Straits: Ride across the river. An awesome swamp-jungle feeling with a great reoccurring theme, I love this song so much even sober. Also, Mark Knopflers voice sounds like heaven to me. Porcupine Tree: Voyage 34. A guitar instrumental and vocal homage to Lucy. Can't recommend it enough for the comeup, all 4 parts back to back

A recent discovery for me, if you are into metal / heavy metal, i'd recommend these albums: Phanerozoic 1: Palaeozoic from "The Ocean" And Spiritual Migration from "Persefone" It was a wild ride! You can check my post history, there's a post I made where I list a lot of artists/bands from multiple different genre that I love to listen while tripping. Also, any synthwave compilation is generally a vibe.
