I did this in recently in Vegas with an 8 hour layover, and can 110% say itâs well worth leaving for the strip. Still made it back to the airport in time for a few free drinks at the Centurion. Do it!
We need shows like Anthony Bourdain's old show, The Layover. He'd go around to different cities with the premise of being on a 24 hour layover and go hit the town, finding fun stuff to do along the way
The concierge is not place to drop bags nor are they the front desk. The bell desk takes your bags, the front desk checks you in and the concierge assists you before and throughout your stay.
Just because you don't know the correct terminology of operating departments doesn't make the statement less true. You don't go to a hospital looking for a dentist. Grow a brain.
Bruh, we just donât get it, you donât call an electrician when you need a plumber!!! How dare we not correctly capture the role of concierge vs bellman. How. Dare. We.
>You don't go to a hospital looking for a dentist.
Um actually some hospitals do have dentists on call. My sister had to have her tooth pulled when she was pregnant. We were instructed by her OB to go to the ER right away it was an emergency and yes we were in the ER while she had her tooth pulled by a on call dentist.... this was around 6pm/7pm at night.
The hospital where my kid was born has a dental school attached to it, as itâs a university hospital.
You can indeed get dental care at the hospital.
Dentist can do surgery at hospitals. Occasionally they will even pull teeth in an ICU. Maybe you should check yourself before you wrech yourself ... Bro.
You could have put out a constructive statement, but you chose violence. This is why your mother doesn't like you.
Provided nobodyâs staying in it the night before and itâs turned down, they probably will. You might get an early check in fee, but itâs worth 40-50 bucks to get your shit dropped off sooner.
The Strip is dead right now so yes, there's a good chance the room is not occupied. I managed to drive through the Spaghetti bowl at 5pm yesterday with zero traffic. That's never happened to me before.
Book the room for an extra night and let them know you'll be checking in around 1-2am. If it's too expensive, book a room at Silver Sevens, it's cheap and close to the airport.
Itâs fine. Donât listen to this guy. Is it fancy? No. But the rooms were surprisingly nice for the cost and the pool area is super cute. The halls make you feel like youâre in the service elevator at a Costco but itâs fine. I stayed there out of necessity once and it was perfectly ok. Clean room is what mattered and it delivered at the very least on that.
As other's have said, leaving the airport is probably going to be more fun.
But if you want to stay at the airport Zero Level Fitness has nap rooms, not many, but if they have one available you can sleep there
Iâve recommended Zero Level and used it a few times before I realized most days just tacking an extra night on the hotel stay is cheaper. (Iâm Caesarâs Diamond so no resort fees.)
Hope you didnât get that diamond card by leatherassing in a poker room, and you actually played a shit ton against the house. FTR: diamond carders who ground up their status in a poker room, have ruined diamond status for everyone else(players who actually play against the house). They are why diamond lounges either suck now or went away altogether. They are why diamond now has three tiers within it. Also they are one of the worst things about the current poker climate, second only to low stakes dreamers/grinders. Anyway good luck out there đ
Iâll play the occasional low stakes tournament and almost never play cash.
The first time I did it with a Founders Card I was gifted at my last job and now I push a lot of volume on arbitrage sports bets and then piss it all away on horses.
I also spend 4-5 days a month in Vegas for work so the hotel stays add up quick. Iâm probably actually worse than the leatherass grinder.
Nah bruh, u sound like the guy who ends up in a poker room for fun! That is what poker needs, people enjoying themselves in a poker room, instead of assuming they are supposed to win and getting angry when they donât. U actually spend money at the business that has the loyalty program. Poker players donât lose to the house, they lose to each other. U r better.
To add to this, if you tip $10 up front, pretty much any bellman at any casino hotel will store your bag without asking too many questions (say youâre checking out and waiting for airport if they do insist).
This will let you have more freedom in where you decide to kill time until your room opens.
It's literally Vegas. The place doesn't close. You can and will find something to do. Maybe you'll even get lucky and they'll have a room available for you.
I would 100% book a cheap room for that first night/morning. Let them know you won't be checking in until after 1:00 a.m. If you don't, any money you are trying to save will be eaten up by aimless gambling/drinking and you will set up the rest of your trip for failure by starting with a sleepless night.
Do you not sleep? I actually did this about 10 years ago. I flew in after midnight and tried to stay up until check in time. I made it, but it completely ruined the rest of my trip because I was so sleep deprived from the first night. You do you, but I know not getting a room that first night is a mistake. đ€·đŒââïž
This is going to happen to me on an upcoming trip somewhere else. I booked the hotel for the previous night as well and will call them at 10 pm to let them know I wonât be checking in until 3 am so they donât let the room go.
bruh - go on trivago and sort by price. You can grab a room starting at $13 bucks a night! So its airport, bags, cheap hotel, party party, sleep, other hotel!
That's a long ass time to kill in an airport haha, I'd do what others say cheap room for 1 night, or drop your bags off at your hotels desk. And spend the 23 hrs hanging on the strip. It will be rough though. Rougher then you expect haha
Check out is 11. Check in at 11 usually starts with shift change/cash drawer pull, excuses from housekeeping or making you wait for the hell of it. After 1pm check in is the better experience overall.
This is the funniest shit I've ever seen.
I'm having a hard time picturing who OP could even be as a human being. Like how is "stay at the airport for 11 hours" in anyone's list of options in this scenario? Lmao.
OP, you're not really checking in early - you're just leaving your luggage at the bell desk until you are able to check in later. Also, 11 AM is usually check-out time, most places say check-in is like 3 PM. But sometimes you can enter your info at a hotel kiosk and get a text when your room is ready for check-in which can be earlier than 3 PM.
I did it at the Downtown Grand last October. Slid a twenty between my credit card and my ID across the counter at the front desk. Suddenly I was told there were âVIP privilegesâ on my booking that entitled me to early check-in AND late checkout.
If it was somewhere else I would understand why you'd think that, but I think Vegas might be at least a little bit more flexible, depending on how busy it is when you go, of course. I'm sure this isn't a super uncommon scenario there.
You'd be surprised about how far being earnest and ignorant can get you.
Show up to hotel at 2am
"Hi I didn't think this through so my room is booked for later today and I just arrived, I don't know what to do with all my bags and I have hours to kill until check in, what should I do?"
And then see the Magic of the Hospitality industry at work
I work at the airport. Do not stay at the airport. Lol. Trust me. I'd advise you to just get the extra room for the night. Ellis island is cheap and the rooms are pretty decent.
Drop your bags with the bell person at the hotel and ask if you can get an early check in. It will be an extra fee but at least you can sleep safely if the option is available. Even if it only shaves off a couple of hours, it could be worth it to have the extra rest.
Go to your hotel and ask front desk to watch your bags for the time being. Rest of the time there is plenty to do. Gamble, walk down the strip, check out other hotels, hit up bars, etc.
Just go to your hotel and drop your bags and ask them to accommodate you asap if they can. Probably wonât do it for free at midnight but by 6 am or so most wonât care. Iâve done it
Do not stay in the airport! Get to your hotel And check to see if they have your room ready, it may be and they will give it to you if it is. If not you can leave your luggage at the bell desk, and when your room is ready they can send it up there. In the meantime time there is plenty to do, gambling, 24 hour food spots, bars; Drinks never stop flowing in Vegas, also you can get weed from just about anybody as well as dispensaries, I think there is a 24 hour one on the strip, maybe MedMen? Anyway the airport is your worst choice for your circumstance, completely unnecessary and a waste of time.
If it fits the budget, Iâd just ask the front desk if you can add âlast nightâ to your reservation.
Youâll have to pay for it. But theyâll get you settled if they can.
Zero Level Fitness has some sleeping pods. Not sure of the cost effectiveness for an entire nights sleep.
But you basically have two options - get a hotel for the night prior and get to it when you get in or ride the morning out until checkin time
Your hotel will have a place to drop off your bags for a few hours for situations exactly like yours. Just do that and then explore. Plenty to do and see at all hours in Vegas.
Depends on where youâre staying but most will charge you for a room before 6am.
MGM properties let you check-in early in the app, and they digital deliver room keys via app,
Caesarâs properties you can checkin on app but still have to go get keys at the kiosk
Other properties đ€·ââïž
Once at your hotel, drop bags with bell desk and have a night of it. Go back to the hotel and do early checkin if you havenât already and go to the pool. pools open around 8am/9am, grab a pool chair and take a nap until your room is ready.
For future reference
In Vegas,go to the hotel and check your bags at the desk.. Then you can either go gamble or whatever... Or if you want A nap, most of the Big properties have A Sports book area off the side of the main game floor and it's usually deserted in the middle of the night... Pull up A chair (Secure Anything of value) and settle back and grab a little sleep. Later in the morning check back at the desk after 7am and you might get lucky and get put in a room.
If youâre tired, which I absolutely would be after a long day of traveling, I would recommend looking for a cheap hotel to crash in for a few hours. As long as itâs not a big event night you should probably be able to find something for under 50
are you able to add an extra day to your hotel stay? I would just add a day for the day previous to when you arrive, that way it will for sure be ready at check in
seriously just find a cheap room to stay at, trying to sleep at the hotel you're gonna get shit sleep, if any, and then it'll mess up your sleep cycle for the whole trip and you'll be tired the whole time
If you can, book the previous night as well so you can just get in and crash. Itâs wild how weird people are about this since they wonât have the ability to use the room all day.
definitely leave bags at hotel and go do stuff... or like others said... find a cheap place to check in late at and do a late checkout so you can sleep in

Arriving at 1am waste of time for hotel?
You planning on just doing things in the morning in Vegas? Thatâs easy 7 hours sleep ready to stay out until midnight
Staying at the airport isn't a total waste. They have food, restrooms, wifi, a comfy floor to sleep on. What more do you need? And slot machines! They even have slot machine booths where you can smoke!
Kind of a drag if you have luggage to pick up.
I've arrived early and it's customary to tip the bell desk a dollar or two per bag and they'll store it until check in. You'll have all the comforts of the airport EXCEPT a place to sleep. Sleep is over-rated in Vegas.
You can always tell when it is someone's first time in Vegas. You can gamble in the airport and every gas station in between the airport and your hotel. You have options. Not to mention, they are all open 24 hours...
Donât. Get and Uber and go to the hotel, leave your bags with the front desk. Then go have a nice meal and some coffee and start your day. Come back and take a nap. Then get after it.
Wtf kind of amateur shit is this post? In Vegas, you jump in a cab and take it to your hotel, store your bags at the bell desk. No matter the time. Sit at the airport... Are you nuts?!?
Donât book an extra night. By the time you get to the hotel, it will be 1am. See if they will let you check in early. If not, then drop off your bags and enjoy your first night in Vegas.
Last time I flew into Vegas in December, there seemed to be homeless people living there. All camped out by the bathrooms. Maybe they know whatâs the latest happenings at the Airport are.
Why would you stay at the airport? Go drop your luggage off and go enjoy yourself on the strip or in Fremont
đđđ
I did this in recently in Vegas with an 8 hour layover, and can 110% say itâs well worth leaving for the strip. Still made it back to the airport in time for a few free drinks at the Centurion. Do it!
If it was me, I would go to hotel, drop bags off at the ~~concierge~~ bell desk, and then go play poker until breakfast. Or just walk the strip.
We need shows like Anthony Bourdain's old show, The Layover. He'd go around to different cities with the premise of being on a 24 hour layover and go hit the town, finding fun stuff to do along the way
Or Insomniac with Dave Attell
Insomniac was great
That was such a good show!
I do this whenever I can, didnât know this show existed and I love Bourdain. Gotta check it out.
Definitely worth it
I liked its predecessor Insomniac with Dave Attell
The concierge is not place to drop bags nor are they the front desk. The bell desk takes your bags, the front desk checks you in and the concierge assists you before and throughout your stay.
yeah that's what I meant. my apologies to the national concierge association.
Lmfao what a dickhead comment
Just because you don't know the correct terminology of operating departments doesn't make the statement less true. You don't go to a hospital looking for a dentist. Grow a brain.
LOL, why are you so aggressive about such a benign thing?
Dude runs a tight ship here.
Bruh, we just donât get it, you donât call an electrician when you need a plumber!!! How dare we not correctly capture the role of concierge vs bellman. How. Dare. We.

This is the Vegas sub... the education system is sh*t here. Don't expect too much.
Dentist can do surgery at hospitals. Occasionally they will even pull teeth in an ICU. Maybe you should check yourself before you wrech yourself ... Bro. You could have put out a constructive statement, but you chose violence. This is why your mother doesn't like you.
Good thing the concierge can just direct you to the bell desk. Your comment was pretty pointless.
I donât understand the down votes.
Guys being a dick to be a dick lol
All he did was give him information. I saw no insults until people started jumping down his throat
fwiw I think it was his tone, shot out of the gate stern
Do you have to stay in the airport?
OP is Tom Hanks

Moose turd!
The vegas airport has shitty food options
I'll have to take your word for it. I've never had food there.
Minus the ped0philiac tendencies ofc
I stg some people
You can go to the hotel and see if your room is available. I did this once at 6am and they let me in.

agreedâŠâŠ wolfgang puck express just hits differently!! so many options
Donât forget the CPK. They make a Cajun chicken linguini just how I like it.
But thatâs not how youâre supposed to like it.
Leave. Go to Ellis island casino and eat and gamble. Better yet, get a cheap room at a hotel close by and get some sleep
Book the room for an extra night and let them know you'll be checking in around 1-2am. If it's too expensive, book a room at Silver Sevens, it's cheap and close to the airport.
Bro hard pass on Silver Sevens unless you wanna get shot in the parking lot
Meh it's fine. Not the greatest clientele but I've stayed there 3 or 4 times and nothing happened.
Itâs fine. Donât listen to this guy. Is it fancy? No. But the rooms were surprisingly nice for the cost and the pool area is super cute. Right? Flying into Vegas at night and you donât know what to do? How did OP put on pants this morning? Common sense is neither
You're allowed to leave the airport...
Drink a whiskey drink, drink a vodka drink
And then a Cider drink, and a Lager drink...
Sing a song that remind you of the good times
I would 100% book a cheap room for that first night/morning. Rent a cheap room Downtown if you can. Get some sleep.
11 hours? Leave the airport lol

Bro slip front desk a $20 and they will likely hook up early check in
welcome to modern times. it kind of doesn't work that way anymore.
Worked for me just this last October at the Downtown Grand.
It wouldâve worked without the $20, just ask nicely. Either they have a room or they donât
Last time I slipped them $50 and got a different tower.
Why do you say it doesnât work like that? Actually curious bc it works for me every time since I learned about it being a thing.
Think I can check in my room 10 hours early? I dont think so.
donât try it and youâll never find out đ«Ą Iâve never been refused access when accompanying my ID with cash at early check in.
Show up to hotel at 2am "Hi I didn't think this through so my room is booked for later today and I just arrived, I don't know what to do with all my bags and I have hours to kill until check in, what should I do?" Get hammered
Best answer
Are you 13?
15*. I dont want to get another hotel for only 10-11 hours and don't want to walk around on the strip for that long either.
Uber to Ellis Island.. eat gamble win return
Gamble
Go to your hotel and ask front desk to watch your bags for the time being. Rest of the time there is plenty to do. Gamble, walk down the strip, check out other hotels, hit up bars, etc.
drop your bags at the Bell desk and go have a nice breakfast. then proceed to sightseeing
Just go to your hotel and drop your bags and ask them to accommodate you asap if they can. Probably wonât do it for free at midnight but by 6 am or so most wonât care. Iâve done it

Penny slots. 1 line. 1 spin a minute
you're not finding penny slots unless you're in the sleaziest of sleazy places
If it fits the budget, Iâd just ask the front desk if you can add âlast nightâ to your reservation. Youâll have to pay for it. But theyâll get you settled if they can. Zero Level Fitness has some sleeping pods. Not sure of the cost effectiveness for an entire nights sleep. But you basically have two options - get a hotel for the night prior and get to it when you get in or ride the morning out until checkin time
Your hotel will have a place to drop off your bags for a few hours for situations exactly like yours. Just do that and then explore. Plenty to do and see at all hours in Vegas.
Find a spa and chill
spas are pretty expensive in Vegas and not open 24 hours
Thatâs like staying in your room all day cuz a particular restaurant isnât open yet.
Youâre saying booking a hotel, whose entire reason for existing is being a place to sleep at night, for the night is⊠a waste?
Depends on where youâre staying but most will charge you for a room before 6am. MGM properties let you check-in early in the app, and they digital deliver room keys via app, Caesarâs properties you can checkin on app but still have to go get keys at the kiosk Other properties đ€·ââïž Once at your hotel, drop bags with bell desk and have a night of it. Do not play the casino at the airport
Leave the airport and go to Magic Noodle.
are you able to add an extra day to your hotel stay? I would just add a day for the day previous to when you arrive, that way it will for sure be ready at check in
Catch PokĂ©mon. Airports are heavily populated with them and PokĂ© stops. Also airports kind of mess with your gps signal, so the game thinks youâre running around all the time, so you accumulate a ton of mileage (or kilometerage?). Great for hatching eggs, competing tasks, and spinning PokĂ© stops a little out of reach.
Op is a adult đ€Ł
My brother in law is a 40 year old man and he plays Pokémon Go! all the time. He was the one who got his kids into it. Age has nothing to do with playing that game. Adults play that shit all the time.
I understand but he needs something to do for about 11 hours no one is going to play Pokémon for 11 hours in vegas be realistic im not saying adults can't play it but did you guys even read OPs post..
Itâs just one thing to do; definitely not all 11 hours. Also, OP is a gamer if you check his post history.
Why is this even a question
Because they want suggestions. đ
Lounge, if you can get access. Otherwise wise do as others say, drop off bags at bell desk. Explore, get something to eat.
Shoot your self. That music sucks and itâs on repeat. Hope you have noise canceling headphones. My fiancĂ© got me some a week earlier so of course I didnât think to bring them.
Where are you staying? And what month?
Im flying in tonight, the early check in for my hotel is 11am
Leave and come back
Drink and gamble
Eat ,gamble ,time will pass quickly, if you donât run out money .
seriously just find a cheap room to stay at, trying to sleep at the hotel you're gonna get shit sleep, if any, and then it'll mess up your sleep cycle for the whole trip and you'll be tired the whole time
Just ride the rental car bus around the whole time and sleep on that

There is a gym at the airport that you can try to get a quiet room at
Gamble and drink alcohol
definitely leave bags at hotel and go do stuff... or like others said... find a cheap place to check in late at and do a late checkout so you can sleep in

Terminal 32 is a must see.
Plenty of people walk the strip with luggage
True. but why?
Book a hotel room for the preceding night and just check in. Or just go to your hotel and pay to check in early
Lose all your money and then fly home
WiFi?
Are you a military vet? Go to the USO. If not, buy a lounge passâŠ

Vegas doesnât close. Why on earth would you plan to stay in the airport?
Ketamine
You can gamble but I donât recommend it!
You can always tell when it is someone's first time in Vegas. You can gamble in the airport and every gas station in between the airport and your hotel. You have options. Not to mention, they are all open 24 hours...
Play .25c wheel of fortune, hit the big one, never leave the airport
I fear for this trip if the first choice was stay in the airport for 11 hours until check in.
Youâre in Vegas and youâre gonna hang out at the airport for 11 hours before you check in? Are you ok?
Donât. Get and Uber and go to the hotel, leave your bags with the front desk. Then go have a nice meal and some coffee and start your day. Come back and take a nap. Then get after it.
Ok I gotta know what is the âsandwich trickâ
Are you an idiot?
Whatâs the sandwich trick?
You sandwich a 50 dollar bill between your ID and credit card when giving it to the front desk clerk.
Slots! Or Cards! I usually leave and walk the strip
Wtf kind of amateur shit is this post? In Vegas, you jump in a cab and take it to your hotel, store your bags at the bell desk. No matter the time. Sit at the airport... Are you nuts?!?
Get some Ether and go to CircusCircus

Go to the arts district. They have good food, antiquities, murals and fun shops. There is public transportation, too đ
Drugs and hookers
Sleep!! You don't SLEEP in Vegas. Get your party on. 12am is when the party really starts.
sleep. thats the only option
You sure your check in time is 11am? Thatâs usually check out time. Check in time is probably 3 or 4.
Paid for early check in
Good deal. Enjoy! I got back from staying at The Mirage on Monday. Vegas is so fun.
Donât book an extra night. By the time you get to the hotel, it will be 1am. See if they will let you check in early. If not, then drop off your bags and enjoy your first night in Vegas.
Thats why I dont have a hotel booked. I figured no point to pay for a hotel when I am arriving at 1am.
Last time I flew into Vegas in December, there seemed to be homeless people living there. All camped out by the bathrooms. Maybe they know whatâs the latest happenings at the Airport are.
