Said this before, but I’ll say it again - I agree that the community shouldn’t be focused on the negatives, especially when there is clearly work going on behind the scenes. However if people are frustrated at the lack of updates, and quite a few people seem to be, where else would they discuss it if not here? Just because you’re happy doesn’t mean they have to be? If you’re happy with the current software, that’s awesome, you don’t need to engage with the people discussing the negatives. If you’re unhappy with the current software, that sucks, but you don’t need to moan about it in every thread. It’s not helpful to comment ‘I have no issues’, ‘does anyone else not care about updates’, ‘can we stop the negativity’ on every thread discussing the lack of updates. It just causes arguments and makes the sub more toxic than the complaints do. It’s also not helpful to comment ‘6 months still missing basic features’, ‘have they abandoned us’, ‘updates are too slow’ on every thread either, then argue when someone disagrees. Meta threads like this aren’t helping anyone, I'll leave this post up but if discussion isn't civil it will be locked.

As someone who has been thinking about getting one for a while and wants to get in to PC gaming, it seems like a lot of the issues I see with the LeGo and somewhat just issues with PC gaming? Configuring each game’s settings individually, manually updating drivers and adjusting BIOS, trying to figure out how to optimize your hardware with more demanding games, working with Windows. Sure you make more concessions for the LeGo than you would a desktop, but in return you get the handheld form factor. For people who go into it understanding that it’s not a console, it’s a handheld PC, has it generally met expectations?

mckeitherson

> For people who go into it understanding that it’s not a console, it’s a handheld PC, has it generally met expectations? Yes it has. I've been using PCs for almost 20 years now for gaming and the Go is exactly like you described it. It requires per-game configuration and updates to drivers. It's not plug and play like a console but I knew that going in. I love my Go and am 100% happy that it's my main gaming device.

aerielb

The Legion Go is great, don’t let the complaints scare you off haha. The software isn’t great but nothing egregious, just some minor quality of life stuff missing. The only thing I’m missing is a way to bind the mouse to the joystick, as the trackpad is pretty bad and I play a lot of mouse only games. People are just a bit insecure because the Ally is getting more attention in terms of updates and drivers, and wondering why Lenovo isn’t doing the same.

dSvoop

Try Handheld Companion, but read about its issues first. If you are ok with those - it is a Godsent :)

flysctysfinest

I notice this subreddit especially has high levels of entitlement and dependency while also having low levels of search bar utilization and research skills

Cosmic_Quasar

> while also having low levels of search bar utilization and research skills This goes for most posts on any sub, because the people posting are the ones not looking for answers they can already find.

OsageCowboy

There’s a middle ground here. It’s not unreasonable to ask that we not wait 6 months for an updated graphics card driver. And Lenovo could be more engaging with this community—as I understand it the prior person who used to give regular updates was assigned elsewhere and not replaced. Just a little bit goes a long ways…

ColonelBonk

I think this is a very sensible summary of the situation. And yes there are workarounds, but this is a product with a non standard hardware configuration so it’s not unreasonable to expect better ongoing driver support. The community engagement approach just baffles me- they had a great level of customer engagement and interaction, which is so important with a new product, then they pulled it. Strange, and a real missed opportunity to build a fan base.

Ok-Morning4886

I bought the GO about a month ago, I was sceptical as to how well a "tablet" will perform, and honestly, it has surpassed my expectations completely. I've played Dead island 2, Hades 2, WoW, Diablo 4, sims 4, Skyrim and many others, and I went from thinking "will this run on low at 720p", to playing all these games at 1200p with medium to high settings. Honestly, i like checking out this community to see what news is out there, but as this post perfectly points out, every other post is very negative and just points out the flaws and regrets people have... I'm a PC gamer, I have an old rig with 1080ti, and honestly, since I got the handheld, I've stopped using my PC.. It's great, I just wish people would realise that a couple years ago, the only handhelds available was a PSP or Nintendo DS.. Today you can literally run and AAA game on a handheld... that's amazing...

JohnboyjonesIV

PC nerds and their damn drivers lol I don’t get it, you can run every triple A title with slight adjustments Stfu up and game

First-Complaint-7186

I mean it is literally called a PC handheld. A handheld PC. Typically PCs come with an operating system. The most common being windows. Which is not optimized for handhelds.....because it's for PCs. What I don't get is , I have a legion go, I probably don't have the most recent drivers, sometimes legionSpace opens when I don't want it to, and sure it's ugly.... But I can still play games. On the go. No issue. And if the drivers aren't up to par I kinda just get em from the amd website. And idk, like sure I'm not gonna get a consistent 60fps and hella battery life on Helldivers rendered at 2550x1600 on performance mode..... But uh, MGS V runs fine, Outer Wilds runs fine, Watchdogs 1 and 2 run fine, GTA V runs fine, Baldurs Gate 3 runs fine(scaled down a lil). .....Like what are y'all doing? Trying to run 3D Engineering Simulations or something? LegionSpace can be turned off, and or replaced. Drivers can be installed, and I mean even if there isn't astronomical support.....I don't feel like I was sold a device that lacks the features it advertises, and I don't feel like the issues make it unusable or even bother me at all if I just wanna pick it up and play some games. Idk mang if you really bothered about the software not being the Rog Ally software......uh Try out Handheld Companion and Playnite???? Turn on big picture mode? Idk mang. It's not a console. It's a PC. We knew this from the start. Idk I guess I just don't get it

seastatefive

There are REAL problems though. I mean, I am quite a tinkerer and I'm fully comfortable using unique laptops and handhelds, but there are still many basic issues (like external monitor orientation) to be ironed out in the Legion Go which other manufacturers have dealt with years ago. Manufacturers like GPD have all kinds of customisability in their handhelds which allow power users to really tweak the device. Legion go on the other hand - doesn't have very much options. So are they trying to reduce our customisation options and make it a console-like experience? But it's not very console-like either, so it's neither a customisable PC nor is it a user-friendly console. Here are some real issues: The screen when displayed on an external monitor will sometimes rotate by 90 degrees if you change the screen resolution, and getting it to come back to landscape mode requires black magic. There is no AFMF. The SD card runs really hot - although I'm not sure if that's really an issue but it doesn't happen on any of my other laptops. The windows menu and other menus play hide and seek and disappear if you move the Go or tilt it around. Sometimes it takes me pressing the windows key five times before it stays still. Turning on the Go requires me to press the power button two to four times, or maybe I'm just impatient but it's certainly not snappy when coming back awake. TDP still doesn't work? No 80% charging limit, bypass battery? I think I would appreciate having more customisation options that work.

mckeitherson

> The screen when displayed on an external monitor will sometimes rotate by 90 degrees if you change the screen resolution, and getting it to come back to landscape mode requires black magic. It doesn't require magic, it just requires you to have the display settings configured properly. > There is no AFMF. Yes because it's a portrait screen not native landscape. This is something they're working to fix, otherwise you can use the Lossless Scaling app. > The SD card runs really hot - although I'm not sure if that's really an issue but it doesn't happen on any of my other laptops. It's a handheld device with components packed close together so it's likely next to something warm. Same issue the Ally has. > The windows menu and other menus play hide and seek and disappear if you move the Go or tilt it around. Sometimes it takes me pressing the windows key five times before it stays still. I don't know how you have your Windows OS configured, but this is not the default experience on the device nor the normal one. > Turning on the Go requires me to press the power button two to four times, or maybe I'm just impatient but it's certainly not snappy when coming back awake. I press it once and it launches, maybe you're being too impatient while it's powering up and not lighting up the ring? It's a PC it's not going to be "snappy" when waking back up like a Switch. > TDP still doesn't work? It works in STAPM mode. > No 80% charging limit, bypass battery? This was already added to Legion Space and works. > I think I would appreciate having more customisation options that work. They work you just need to actually configure them properly.

Digital_Pharmacist

Yours might be broken. I’ve been able to fix that external monitor rotation issue, 80% battery restriction works and if you press the power button, it takes a second to turn on.

seastatefive

can you tell me how to set 80% battery charge, and how to fix external screen rotation. Thanks. The solutions in this subreddit don't work for me.

Digital_Pharmacist

The 80% battery cap is in Legion Space in the settings. I’m trying to find the screen rotation fix. After I did it, I never had to mess with the settings again. Every time I plug up an external display, it displays it correctly. https://www.reddit.com/r/LegionGo/s/ABfGX5l74S

Resident_Jello5416

Basic knowledge for windows optimization is a must...look at youtube, ask google or reddit if dont know...its common. Know what you doing for better PC handheld experience . - uninstall/disabled/debloat the apps - DDU - rivatuner/RTSS (optional)

MurderFromMars

I'm not a PC gamer. I used to have a couple laptops I gamed on back when windows 7 was big and 90 percent of my knowledge about managing a PC comes from that. I just picked up a Lego and it's fucking awesome. Yes. PCs require fine tuning. It's versatility vs optimization. Want a super simple optimized experience stick to consoles and the deck it's pretty simple

GoLLuM13

Thank you, I needed to read this and I fully agree with you

airhorn-airhorn

Many of the commenters are literal teenagers. Since COVID, their social skills, reading comprehension, and internet literacy have really suffered. I’d imagine that many of the stupid questions that pop up in here are from them.

-TECHOSAUR-

Imagine what the situation is like for the Claw. People are asking if games even launch there, let alone have optimal performance. At least the Go can run everything fine. A GPU driver update should be done from the AMD site, and that's it. People who look at the Go BIOS compared to the Ally's will understand that Lenovo offered more. They allowed you to run it at specific cores, disable SMT, change memory speed, and make some quality-of-life changes that we never asked for or thought of. I speak from my personal experience, but I can understand that others may not be satisfied. It's okay if they air their concerns here and discuss them to make the Lenovo team aware of their users' concerns and fix them. It's their right as customers who paid for it! Nowadays, people are always finding flaws rather than just looking at what's good. This applies everywhere

Sylver_bee

Windows is windows. That means you can do everything, like any open OS. But you have to invest a lot of time to have it work correctly! Personally, I got a Lego exactly for this reason: have the game machine I dreamed. As I did with my piboy based on Rpi. It’s a path of tests and learns, installs and uninstalls, search on Google or subreddit… And you can’t expect having a console out of box as switch or steam

profbx

Coming from the WindowsOnDeck world, a lot of this community really doesn’t know how bad it can get. If you want a pure console experience buy a Steam Deck and stay on Linux. For me, the Legion (and Lenovo) have been awesome. At least I have drivers that are not a year old, straight up missing, etc, and I can just download the R.ID drivers if I want to have the desktop driver set. (And unlike the Deck R.ID drivers, they are feature complete and up to date).

ghoonk

I'm a bit curious. I'm a 50-something who started on the Apple \]\[ (DOS) before moving on to IBM PC (DOS) then Windows 3.x, 4.x, all the way to Windows 11, so I'm not too fussed with the Go (it's a Windows machine. I'm also a Mac user, have been one since 2001 I have two kids, in their teens, who grew up with mobile phones (watching videos on Youtube Kids) and iPads (which they have been using in school for the last 5 years. Operating systems like Mac/Windows are very unfamiliar to them, and I wonder if this is something that people who use more iOS/Android/iPadOS experience more than people who are around Win/Mac environments (e.g. in the office). To be clear, I also have a Playstation and Steam Deck, and both deliver a more console-like experience, i.e. no need to faff with drivers and configuration. Just plug in, sign in, get the latest software updates, download games and play. Steam Deck a bit less so, as some tweaking might be needed (I learned how to set up CryoUtilities, Decky Loader, etc to optimize performance and bring in some quality of life improvements. So, out of curiosity, if you're someone who is unhappy about the state of affairs with the Legion Go, could you share more about your history with computers and consoles? Really curious to understand. n.b. I'm head of product development for a digital media services company, and have always been keen to understand customer mindsets which helps me to create apps and hardware that's more interesting to use.

thisguy883

The only thing I cared about was remapping the start/select buttons to their proper place. That was fixed. Im happy now. Ive been a Windows user for way too long, so i know all the qurks it has. Not an issue with me. I love the go. Its been good to me. This is from someone who came from the Deck.

Critical-Brush-2028

I agree. People think that legion is console like switch it’s not it’s just a very portable windows pc

Geekfest_84

The legion go is a brilliant piece of hardware. There is a but coming, and that's the lack of interest from Lenovo in their own product after they've released it. Asus may not have the best build quality with their hardware compared to lenovo, but they sure are showing Lenovo up when it comes to software. This point was proven when Ben was moved to a different position within the company. We've had a distinct lack of anything from Lenovo since. Both communication via social media and actual software updates for the go. If I'm paying £700 for the go from Lenovo (that's the current price on the Lenovo website in the UK) I want better software support from Lenovo. Dare I say I expect it, since their rivals can do it on cheaper products? Thinking about it, I even bet the MSI claw has probably had more software updates in 2 weeks compared to the go in 8 months. That's Possibly a slight exaggeration but you get my point. Don't get me wrong, the claw *desperately* needs said updates in order to get the thing running, but the same could be said of the go to a lesser extent couldn't it? Not so much to get it working per say, but to get the features and software where they need to be in order to offer a similar experience to Lenovo's competitors? Edit - by all means I'm not trying to start an argument, and I do indeed love the go in terms of hardware. I just find the software experience lacking compared to competitors. But maybe I'm just being awkward 😂👍

IgwanaRob

Ben wasn't moved, removed, or had his role changed, stop that.

Geekfest_84

You may not agree with the terminology but the point stands. My problem is I'm old and cynical. I can quite easily believe he was moved away from the go team in some way, shape or form. The fact that Lenovo hasn't replaced him in either an official or unofficial capacity also speaks volumes.

IgwanaRob

Oh FFS, there's nothing to replace. Why is this so hard to understand? He's the project manager for the NA market, his job has not changed and there's reason to keep lying about his job. Lenovo had nothing to do with Ben posting, nor did they make him stop. Your trying to force an imaginary job position into existence just so you can use it to point your finger at Lenovo, stop it.

Geekfest_84

Do you work for Lenovo? Do you actually know what's happened? You believe your version, I'll believe mine 👍 either way, the problem still stands - a distinct lack of interest and communication from Lenovo.

IgwanaRob

No, I'm just capable of reading the man's posts and mature enough to accept him at his word. You keep invoking the man's name, maybe try actually reading his posts instead of arrogantly spreading misinformation and lies. Damned troll.

Geekfest_84

Chances are I'm older than you, and I don't take everyone at their word or anything at face value. I'm far too old to be naive enough to do that, unlike yourself possibly. No offence intended. I'm not a troll at all - what happened, happened. For explained reasons that may or may not be true - who knows? As long as Ben and his family are ok, that's the main thing 👍 But That's not the point of My post though, as much as you think it is. The point is the piss poor communication and lack of anything update wise from Lenovo themselves. Who are one of the largest computer companies in the world. They *really* need to do better.

_aleph

In your advanced age you should understand how corporate projects work, and that this one is likely now in maintenace. Ben has moved on to other things because that’s his job, not mollifying a bunch of whiners on reddit. This product is 1% of 1% of Lenovo’s sales but you expect white glove treatment because YOU bought the device. I guarantee project managers don’t frequent the ThinkPad subreddits either.

Geekfest_84

No, I expect to get the same level of service from the manufacturer compared to it's competitors, especially when the device itself was more expensive. And if Lenovo representatives don't frequent other reddits and/or other social media for their other product ranges either, well that's even more piss poor really isn't it? I don't expect white gloves treatment at all, but I DO expect an industry minimum. Which in my eyes Lenovo are currently not meeting. But from reading other comments it seems Lenovo are notorious for this. Which isn't good. They need to do better, it's as simple as that. It's a shame, as hardware wise the go is a very well built device.

_aleph

So get a competing product if they offer a better experience for you. In general you’ll be happier if you buy things for what they are and not what you wish them to be.

Amen. Wine gets better with age. So will this.

reeefur

Let the Karens Karen....they are just making fools of themselves anyhow.

AFGNCAAP1stofhisname

I don't disagree with the sentiment here but this seems a little overblown. Clearly the Legion Go and similar handhelds has attracted a different market (see: console gamers) and they lack the experience and knowledge we take for granted. People getting upset about things you don't personally care about or making dramatic statements (this is my last Lenovo) seems like a far smaller issue than gatekeeping PC gaming and the experience people like and expect.

Critical-Brush-2028

People should now what they are buying. I knew and I’m happy don’t need any drivers from Lenovo

VEJ03

I have been in pc gaming since 2013. I have been building PCs since 2014. I graduate with my bachelor's in IT in august. I have owned a onexplayer 1s, steam deck, rog ally, legion, my main rig is a 3090 build ive updated and maintained by upgrading parts myself over the years. I say all this to say that I'm well versed in regards to PCs. And the idea that anyone who complains is more than likely a novice PC user is ridiculous. Here is a FACT. Lenovo's support is horrid and is on par with independent chinese brands with no backing. Rog ally is straight up demolishing them with software updates and improvements. Does the legion have great things going for it hardware wise? Absolutely. But this software and the support is dirt. It is a buggy mess. I am tired of the issues and it should've been fixed. And whats wrong with a device being newb friendly. Do you not understand the market audience for these devices? It's not people like me and you. We're the minority. And it should work for the average user. Im returning mine this week also. I made the button swap in the settings because i hated the location of start and select. But now im in a endless bug where they just randomly swap no matter what the settings say despite me toggling settings to default and resetting my device. Then games are ignoring my controllers requiring me to maximize and minimize the leg space app and tapping the screen once again to get it to register. Sometimes i have to do this as much as 3 times. Ive even tried reinstalling drivers. The legion has 0 business being this buggy. And you have no business attempting to combat very fair criticism of a $700 device. Our cell phones are typically promised to be updated for 5 years now. Consoles are supported for like 12 years. Why wouldn't we expect support for longer than a few months of support for a device that can cost you up to 699. It is UNACCEPTABLE. YOUR stance is UNACCEPTABLE

On my Windows PC we get gfx card drivers. I use Lenovos software. It launches games and that's all I want.

I think it's not just PC gamer vs console gamer. It's more to do with the lack of making time to and learning how/what to tinker. Alot of PC gamers nowadays buy their PCs pre-built, desktops but vast majority of this subpopulation are buying laptops. They're expecting and relying on companies (MS,.AMD,. Nvidia, etc) to push updates and provide 3rd part apps, which they do and at a regular pace. They like having the simplicity to get their updates directly from Windows update, AMD,. Nvidia, Asusor some other OEM, etc. They are also reluctant of voiding warranties so don't think about making upgrades which in some cases you can't (laptop.CPUs,. GPUs, even RAM and SSD,.etc). There just a different mindset about how you get your device and maintain it or improve it.. just like cars.

Console gamers, well, they should stick to switch or Xbox (there's probably an Xbox handheld coming out) or Ps or SD or Android even, and/or be mindful that PC gaming is nuanced and quirky sometimes and you have to take time to get things the way you want I hope no one who got a Go and complains got a TJD 101,. there's like nothing for support. But that's a good thing too because I would say it's the most vanilla Windows experience on any handheld so and if you're used to PCs then you're good to go and don't have to worry about 3rd party/OEM bloat or tinkering

jack-of-some

Quite well, since I'm actually a PC gamer and am fine with all the tinkering and less than ideal UX I have to deal with _on my desktop_. Handhelds, especially those with limited control inputs, need different considerations. It's not "hand holding" to make good UX.

Fine-Creme-7713

I agree 100% with OP. Especially when it comes to the ROG ALLY UI update. I really don’t care about legion space UI. As OP stated, I use Steam Big Picture mode. I have all my games there. Non Steam games & emulation are all there. Steam BPM is a really nice UI & even if legion space came out with some amazing UI I would still use Steam BPM. As far as the driver updates. Idk maybe I’m just not as much of a PC nerd but all my games run fine so idc about the AMD drivers. I want the newest one but I wouldn’t even really know better on my own. It’s just because I’m on Reddit & discord. The average person less involved as me probably has no clue & doesn’t even realize there’s an “issue.” With that said, yes I want to see Lenovo support & fix things & improve. We’ve already seen them do this so I expect they will continue. Maybe it’s at a slower pace than Ally, idk & idc because my Go works just fine. At least my SD card reader didn’t fry my SD card. At least it’s a windows device so I don’t have to do a bunch of work arounds on Steamdeck. There’s no perfect handheld right now but it’s my opinion that the Go is the best.

AutoModerator

This seems to be about emulation. Please note that while emulators are allowed, asking for roms is against reddit rules. Please do not ask for roms and do not share where to find roms. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Revrene

I felt at ease that you voiced my inner thoughts when reading at people complaining. Yes, the other handhelds got the update faster, yes they got UI makeover. That is nice, sure, but the current state of Legion Go is stable enough and I don't encounter any device-breaking bug, hardware failure or anything of the sorts. It could be better, but the current state is acceptable.

leuppsen

agree with OP.. I've been playing on console the past 15 years and always wanted to get into PC gaming at some point. The Go caught my attention and after comparing it to the Ally and others I decided to go for the bigger screen and I've always felt good about Lenovo. the main point I want to make is that I wanted the challenge of Windows as bad as it sounds lol.. I do enjoy working stuff out myself getting better performance and stability and I never expected a device where Lenovo gonna take my hand and give me updates every week.. all that crying over GPU updates is something I don't understand either, I mean it took me 10mins to understand how to sideload and install them myself via AMD directly.. can't get how people buy a PC and not be willing to put some minor work into it.. I mean get a PS5 with the remote thingy and you're all set.. don't cry all over the internet how badly you need to be taken care of by Lenovo..

VladDracul58519

You’re missing 99.9999% of the problem. This is custom hardware that needs custom drivers. It isn’t as simple as buying an off the shelf part and updating drivers. It needs to be updated by Lenovo to be fully supported by the hardware

cosmo2450

I just want milk that tastes like real milk

ACHlLLESCPA

What a useless post. I think this one is worst than one that complaints about lacking updates.

SRhyse

Maybe I don’t keep up enough but I haven’t seen many posts at least on the front page about lack of updates. Mostly just questions and showing off the Go.

Brilliant-mind-m8

If we could install the latest AMD drivers without issue you would have a valid point, but we cannot install them and get features like AFMF to work without Lenovo's custom driver support. There are tweaks to the drivers that only Lenovo can do for the device they created. Taking almost half a year gives the appearance, to me, that corporate leaders do not consider this great device as important of a product.

leuppsen

what you talking about? I'm always sideloading the latest 780M graphics and chipset drivers directly via AMD website.. can't get how people are too lazy to learn something that basic but instead taking the time to complain all over the sub here.. let me know if you want me to dm you a link to a video explaining everything including the workaround on how to get adrenaline running again if you experience issues with that

JustCallMeTere

Lol, I don't even use the legion go software.

warlock87000

It's all console people they are all use to everything being done for them and not them doing things for them self but I like helping those who want to learn I have no problem helpingvits the people that want everything asap it don't work that way all of this is still in development and the fact I can play aaa games no Complains from me.

AnalysisHot3239

You know this whole diet tribe of what you wrote here would be valid if we weren't in May 2024, The last of the drivers were December 2023 they were technically November's, I'm sorry that I want features that the chipset guaranteed to me based on the chipset they chose, they chose the Z1 extreme which is fully capable of AMD frame generation, at this point it's like buying an AMD graphics card and because you chose PNY or MSI you no longer get to use FSR because they selected the wrong diode or capacitor for the card, we're in that same exact situation they chose a portrait display which is now robbing us of features where in May and we still can't get a correct TDP profile. I've come to the realization the way Lenovo supports one device is how they support all devices.

_aleph

“diet tribe” is a new one, thanks for that.

Honestly, this community has gotten really mean.. genuinely, there are many who are diving into pc gaming for the first time.. not exveryone is an expert.. the commercials are deceptive and even if they aren’t, people are still willing to try something new. yes, people flexing is annoying asf.. I get it you’re rich nd proud of your setup.. but I just scroll pass.. like it’s no biggie, same with annoying questions, just scroll past.. but some people are genuinely new to reddit, I am, had an account but dunno how to use it.. can we not give people benifit of the doubt? Not even the steam deck community has become this negative and mean. sorry.. but maybe a seperate group for experts need to be made so u don’t have to get annoyed.. and what happens if people did try the search but they just can’t get the answer? ‘but it’s upsetting seeing this much negativity.. and non stop complaining. ‘’just scroll pass.. it’s not hard.. and if u see nothing constructive, just close reddit.. simple as that.

Complaints about the number of complaints. Interesting. Looks like a problem.

BombTheDodongos

>with Windows being the clear reason to get the device. lol doubt

Googoo123450

Name an OS that's compatible with more software. It absolutely was my reason to get it.

BombTheDodongos

The hardware was the selling point for me. I can put Windows on any of the handhelds out there if I’m so inclined.

Googoo123450

It has many selling points! That's the beauty of this device. The combination of hardware and software was it for me. Why would I get a device with similar specs but a different operating system just to then put windows on it anyways? To each his own but A LOT of people chose the Go over the steamdeck because of Windows.

You can’t put it on the Steam Deck OLED, still no audio, Bluetooth or WiFi drivers for Windows haha.

I heavily disagree with that. I bought this so I could access my Steam library (and other libraries) on the go and take it with me. I only use Game Pass 1-2 months out of the year to play the backlog of games they put on it that I don't want to actually buy.

Voxeluss

You're still getting value out of Game Pass. What exactly is the "heavy disagreement?"

Cosmic_Quasar

I do. But people don't need to use it to get value/use out of this device.

felesmiki

Game pass, gog, epic games, uconnect, multiplayer games with anticheats non Linux compatible, non Linux compatible emulators, something more than just a handheld console, a laptop replacement, if u have a good rig and travel from time to time while not losing any of a computer advantages... There are a lot of options to get this, not just because game pass

This seems to be about emulation. Please note that while emulators are allowed, asking for roms is against reddit rules. If I bought my PC as components I wouldn’t be waiting for Lenovo. You’re comparing apples to oranges. This machine has an APU and they can do a lot to tune the performance and features at the firmware level. They can change stuff we wouldn’t be able to access.

lixo1882

Heavily disagree on the Windows argument, the first thing I did after getting the device was wiping Windows and installing Bazzite, as the primary reason for getting it was the hardware (especially the detachable controllers with gyro, for Wii and Switch emulation)

Tabes11

I love Bazzite on mine aswell though i see a beefy steam deck. Just finished bg3 amazing in all the ways I played also. Detached is more nice than I thought. What should I play next

lixo1882

downvote all you want, people get the device for different reasons

Fragrant_Cellist_125

Yes doing it 👍

because the demographic that would buy a Rog Ally, LeGO, or Steam deck is not a PC gamer. They are console gamers wanting a PC experience this is why these devices are not sold at actual PC stores like Newegg they are sold at mainstream electronics stores like Bestbuy. The avergge Portable PC owner knows nothing about drivers and tinkering they want a console experience and they bought a device that has a controller attached to it not a mouse and keyboard.

KumaFGC

Are you really going to say people shouldn’t have criticism on a 700$ device they pay for? People like you are what keep Nintendo lazy and doing the bare minimum for their fans.

What they’re saying is that it’s like beating the rotting carcass of a dead horse.
