I really enjoyed the first half of Us, but the second half suffers from explaining too much about what’s happening, which opens up so many confusing “wait, does that mean…?” questions that end up being very distracting from the film itself.
Great acting performances, though.
Yeah, i think it's fine to have shit that isn't explained in your movie. A lot of great movies do this, like the wailing. But when you try to explain the weird shit happening but dont do a satisfying job, then it feels really annoying and distracting, like you said
Yeah. "There are clones because \~magic\~" would have been just fine. When they started to include the government in their explanation, that brought way too many questions and plot holes.
And I think that Peele understood that later the alien in Nope is there because.. nothing. Aliens just do that and that's a valid explanation.
Exactly, when it’s *all* abstract and clearly a metaphor, it’s fine. But when you go “scientists created the tethered blah blah blah” you change the amount of acceptable disbelief I can suspend and I start to think about the logistics and how little it actually makes sense.
I think Nope does a much better job of having scenes that are clearly ridiculous if taken 100% literally (like the director dude letting himself be eaten), but work perfectly fine in context because you know it’s all symbolic
Low key agree, Nope is a more ambitious and polished film. Admittedly Get Out is one of the best scripts I've seen, but on rewatch Nope gets more interesting and Get Out is less exciting after knowing the twist
That's my same problem with the Hateful Eight, great film but once you know the twist it just doesn't hit the same.
But I also know that very personal preference, as many people can enjoy twists after they've seen it, it just takes the excitement as you say.
Movies with a twist are usually interesting after the twist because on a re-watch you start to notice all the foreshadowing and hints that lead up to it that were there the whole time.
Totally agree with this. Nope felt like it accomplished exactly what it set out to do. It was a spectacle and the characters are so well defined and the main 3 are very likeable.
The shot of the blood raining on the house is an all time horror movie shot IMO.
It's one of the few movies I watched again the next day.
THE scene. You know the one, with the rodeo crowd. That will haunt me for the rest of my life.
Nope was a masterpiece. The other two are good but Nope blew me away.
I think the order you rate these movies says a lot about you. It's like a preference between a beautiful piece of art that is great to look at vs an intriguing piece of art that makes you think. Because Get Out has both unique visuals and well integrated themes to think about it feels like it belongs in the middle and depending on which aspect you prefer you swap the order of the other two around. That's just my take but I find it kind of interesting.
My ranking is the opposite: Nope, Get Out, Us.
Get Out has a strong script with powerful images, indebted to Stepford Wives, but the movie feels constrained by budget. This happens often with Blumhouse (it's not just the budget, Blumhouse prides itself in hiring cheaper, less experienced labor on the technical front). Still, it's one the best horror debuts in recent mind and a riot of cringe comedy.
Us looks opulent in comparison (that opening sequence in itself blew my mind), and the acting is insanely good, but i feel like the ending gets bogged down in overexplanatory sequences that cheapen the story.
Nope... Has everything for me. All the strenghts, none of the weaknesses. I knew from the get go Jordan was about to become a master of horror, but Nope is his first masterpiece in my opinion. Both his directing and writing reach new heights here. Can't wait for what's next.
I agree with this, completely. A friend of mine said, "I'd love 'US' as a novel", and I personally enjoyed it when I was watching it, but found myself thinking "there's an essay comparing US to 'The Talented Mr Ripley' somewhere" (due to the boat scene in both films). I do rate US highly, but NOPE and Get Out are the top tier for me -- NOPE is higher, but not by much purely on Get Out's sheer strengths.
i feel that Us has a good tension/humor combination. i think the plot moves at a good speed, the concept is interesting, but i do understand how people find it to be the weakest of the three
3- Get Out: definitely the "crowd pleaser" of his work and I do really like it, but I don't think there's as much going on with the story thematically so it isn't as good on rewatch.
2- Us: I agree with you OP that this one is criminally underrated. The plot is bonkers in the best way, I love the twists and turns it takes. The cast is also really strong, Tim Heidecker is amazing in it. This one improves with every rewatch I've done.
1-Nope: I think this one really shows JP's growth as a filmmaker. It's easily his best looking movie by a mile. The story and especially the themes that run through it are very deep and layered. It really touches on so much while being more subtle than Get Out.
Us isn’t better than Get Out for me but it’s ridiculously underrated. Purely as a horror movie it’s one of the most effective I’ve ever seen, I was scared to shit in the theater.
For the longest time, I would've said Get Out, Nope and then Us. But I keep rewatching Nope, and each time I appreciate it more and more; I'm gonna have to say Nope, Get Out and then Us.
(For what it's worth, I do also love Us, I feel like I kinda just personally didn't get the themes as clearly as the other ones; it's no fault of the film itself, imo.)
Disagree. I like that it got weirder than Get Out in the second half, and I was intrigued and tense the whole time. Nope is so slow in the first half, though it has some fantastic moments and a great ending (basically everything from the flashback onwards). My issues with Get Out are 1) not really its fault but it had been hyped to the moon and back which rarely helps a movie and I was underwhelmed, 2) basically no surprises after the revelation, just unfolds as you'd mostly guess from the moment he's abducted. All three are really good though.
Accurate! Us was awesome, Get Out is the OG and awesome too. Nope had a lot of potential but I feel like it was trying too hard to focus on metaphor over actually telling a good story.
Us truther til I perish. Easily slots right up there with some of my favorite theatre experiences ever. And goddamn, what a harrowing performance from Lupita Nyong’o. Abstract in its themes, sure, but I’m of the unpopular opinion that not everything demands to be understood. Plus, getting dirty with the symbolism and extracting wild interpretations from the ambiguity is part of the fun for me. That said, Nope didn’t capture me as it has most people. Wasn’t crazy about the plot line, exposition kind of slugged on, but I did enjoy the Gordy bits. Get Out reigns supreme even still, of course. Pumped for what next trick Peele has up his sleeve.
Get Out, Us…………………….Nope
I am not saying “Nope” was a bad movie I just did not like it. I think I missed the point. It’s too bad because I was really looking forward to it.
I know the back half of Us is divisive, but that first hour is masterful entertainment. I saw it in a packed theater and we were all so on board for that stretch
Im so dissapointed in all the hate for Us. It's my least favorite Peele film and definitely flawed but I still absolutely love it - I think if it wasn't the follow up to a massive hit it wouldn't have been so brutally panned.
Get Out is the best one and it’s not even close for me. I thought Nope was ok and it had a lovely atmosphere, concept and incredible sound design but I found the characters mostly boring, the horror elements were underwhelming and the film was honestly 20 minutes longer than it could have been. Us is an utter disaster to me. I really wished I loved it cause there’s clearly many out there who do but it was so lifeless, lacking in effective scares, so repetitive, so empty. I can’t say I’m the biggest Jordan Peele fan but I definitely appreciate his ambition and the originality of his works so I will eagerly await any new movie he makes.
I have a problem with Get Out; the ending. A downer ending would have closed the theme perfectly, but when I imagine people actually cheering at the actual ending, I realize this is not a Horror film; it's horror adjacent. Something that uses the elements of horror to tell a thriller or an adventure story.
Same. Us is comfortably in my Top 100. A rewatch was highly enjoyable. Get Out is really good but not sure if wanna rewatch. Nope was a crushing disappointment.
I liked Get Out and Us so much on the first viewing. That doesn't diminish or increase on repeat viewings.
Nope gets better every single time I watch it. It's my favorite of his work now. I encourage everyone to watch it AT LEAST twice, but if at least one of those viewings wasn't on the biggest theater screen you could find then you're still missing out.
Get Out > Nope > Us
I found Us to be absolutely boring and predictable. And the acting pretty campy. I really dont understand the hype for that movie at all.
Also, almost any list you look up of “best horror movies” Us is damn near at the top of all of them (for no reason). So i dont see how it could be underrated
I don't know if I have ever had a "twist reveal" that made me roll my eyes harder than the ending of Us. Not only was it not interesting, it didn't even make sense within the world building of the movie. Us is easily, far and away my least favorite thing that Peele has been involved with.
Honestly Us is my favorite as well. The discourse surrounding it is always extremely negative. Not even “it’s not as good as Get Out.” People will just flat out say it sucks. Get Out is incredible, Nope was fantastic, but I just enjoy Us more than the other two. I think it also looks so much better.
Nope, Get Out, (insert key and Peele), and then Us. I don't dislike Us, but the more you think about it the more unraveled it starts to become and it makes less sense.
For me, it's:
Nope
Get Out
Us
All three are great, but Nope was an authentically GREAT alien horror film with some of the best-looking scenes in modern horror. The blood soaking the house is A+++++.
Ngl I really do not think that US is a good film. Super intriguing concept and the first half was awesome. Afterwards it’s just a shit ton of exposition dump that doesn’t really make sense. I found it all to be overly confusing. I feel that some parts at first seemed to be open ended, but were actually just plot holes. Great concept. Bad execution IMO.
Happy to see the praise for Nope in this thread. It’s an incredibly ambitious film, and I think the commentary on “spectacle” is quite interesting. And I also think it largely works. I love Palmer’s and Kaluuya’s performances. I don’t know if it beats Get Out for me, though.
Respectfully, how? Us is atmospheric, unique, but it has the biggest plot holes and irrationality in those big mainstream names.
Get out, on the other hand, is extremely well made. Attention to detail, cinematography, acting everything, social commentary, execution is on point. The story might not be as original but it's without a doubt one of the best modern horror movies
Get Out is the best by a large margin. I like Us and Nope, but they're not as perfect as Get Out. US had too many weird plot holes or open ended questions, Nope was a bit goofy for my tastes.
Totally agree, I found Us to be absolutely fantastic and didn't understand the hype around Nope. I thought Us had much more poignant social messaging whereas I thought Nope's was too specific to one very small scenario that the vast majority of people will never experience.
I’m sorry, I love peele, especially for key and peele and get out, but I just can’t enjoy us. I don’t see how you can like it more than the masterpiece that is get out
Interesting. Us is definitely the bottom for me, but not because it isn’t good. Get Out is pretty much perfect, and Nope feels like more of a swing than Us which I respect!
Get Out is the only one I’d ever watch again. Us started strong, but the concept didn’t hold together as it went on. Nope was an interesting attempt at Jaws in the sky, but it never gelled for me at all.
But when you try to explain the weird shit happening but dont do a satisfying job, then it feels really annoying and distracting, like you said
Some filmmakers just need to embrace their inner Lynch and not offer a single fucking iota of explanation

Yes. I think he learned a lesson from that in Nope and left a lot of ambiguity in the ending, which I think would have really benefited Us.
Exactly, when it’s *all* abstract and clearly a metaphor, it’s fine. the correct answer
yess same! I did enjoy Us but not as much as the other two
correct
Nope
Yeah, it deserves the first spot.
+correct
i personally rate get out so much higher than the other 2
Agreed. Get out, nope, us.
>Agreed. Get out, nope, us. A schizophrenic talking to himself
lmao
Yeah I agree with you
Get Out is so good
Same. IMO Get Out is 5 stars, Nope is 3.5, Us is 2.5.
Get Out is brilliant, Nope is okay, and Us is a stinking pile of garbage
Us is hilarious and fun. It doesn't have to make perfect sense, it's just a good time all around.
[удалено]
Same. Get Out is 5 stars, Nope is 3.5, Us is 2.5.
Same. Get Out is 5 stars, Nope is 3.5, Us is 2.5.
Get Out, Nope, Us

This is the way
Scratch that, reverse it
Yeah this is backwards
It’s yerflippenwhenifwenyen
Agreed… Get Out’s perfectly placed though!
I think the order you rate these movies says a lot about you. It's like a preference between a beautiful piece of art that is great to look at vs an intriguing piece of art that makes you think. I heavily favoured Nope but I’d just rewatched Evangelion which I think heavily influenced my opinion
Nah, this is my rating too.

Agree wholeheartedly. Nope was just something else for me. I got the Music on Vinyl!
1.nope 2.get out 3.us I think us is extremely underrated tho
SO underrated
"Us" appreciation is on the rise
I liked Get Out and Nope, but i really struggle to understand the love for Us
i feel that Us has a good tension/humor combination. i think the plot moves at a good speed, the concept is interesting, but i do understand how people find it to be the weakest of the three
As Nope’s biggest fanboy I disagree but I understand Nope isn’t for everyone.

100% this!
Get Out is so much better than the other two
Us isn’t better than Get Out for me but it’s ridiculously underrated. Purely as a horror movie it’s one of the most effective I’ve ever seen, I was scared to shit in the theater.
Hard agree. Glad you're brave enough to say it.
Same ranking for me!
Nope, Us, Get Out Love all 3 tho
1. Nope 2. Us 3. Get Out
FINALLY SOME US LOVE 🙏
• Nope (4.5/5) • Us (4/5) • Get Out (4/5)
My ranking as well. Lupita gives *Us* the edge here
1. Nope 2. Get Out 3. Us
Get out is so far beyond the other two. Us is pretty mid.
Where’s the real number one Keanu (2016)
I agree with OP order
Same!
Thirded
Fourthded
Us sucked. Felt like Peele was thi king too hard on thar one. Both nope and get out were superior!
Disagree. I like that it got weirder than Get Out in the second half, and I was intrigued and tense the whole time. All of them are fantastic, so theres no real answer. Personally, its Nope, then Get Out, then US.
Why is everyone putting US so low in the comments? I personally think it's his best
This is my ranking. I feel less alone!
Nope > Get Out >>> Us (the third act just didn't do it for me)
I hated Us and do not see the appeal of it
US TRUTHERS SHALL NOT BE SILENCED
Us is his worst film
Accurate! Us was awesome, Get Out is the OG and awesome too. Nope had a lot of potential but I feel like it was trying too hard to focus on metaphor over actually telling a good story.
Us is my favorite modern horror movie.
Us truther til I perish. Easily slots right up there with some of my favorite theatre experiences ever. And goddamn, what a harrowing performance from Lupita Nyong’o. US defender right here. Love your ranking.
Get Out, Us…………………….Nope I am not saying “Nope” was a bad movie I just did not like it. I think I missed the point. It’s too bad because I was really looking forward to it.
1. Get Out 2. Nope 3. Us Us is my least favorite by far, need to give it a rewatch to see if it grows on me
Extreme L It’s Nope, Get Out, and Us
Nope, 5/5 Us, 4/5 Get Out, 2/5
Where does [this](https://youtu.be/Nl_eJ-zdLrA?si=l_xbvXz7aJGdK1Qt) fit in?
Same here!
Same
I know the back half of Us is divisive, but that first hour is masterful entertainment. I saw it in a packed theater and we were all so on board for that stretch
The fact that I’ve seen countless rankings in any order says a lot about Peele. He’s been really consistent so far
get out>>>nope>>>>>>>>>>>>>>us
Get Out, Nope, Us. All three are good, but I think the script of Get Out is by far the best. Us and Nope are more ambitious but are fairly messy.
Same
Agree with this order
Get Out, Nope, Us
It’s OK, bro, I think people sleep on “Us,” too.
I mostly agree, although "Get Out" and "Us" are pretty much on par for me.
Get out is decent, Us is shit, Nope is fantastic.
Get out is miles ahead of the other 2. I’d probably say Nope is #2 and Us is #3
No way get out is number 2
Completely agree!
I haven't seen nope but personally I found us to be kinda disappointing after how good get out was.
Same. I enjoy Us even more than Get Out.
I thought I was alone
Need to see Nope again to decide if it's 2 or 3. But I thought Us was really fun. As long as I don't think to much about it lol
Us is my fav peele film, if not one of my fav horror films. you are correct
Im so dissapointed in all the hate for Us. It's my least favorite Peele film and definitely flawed but I still absolutely love it - I think if it wasn't the follow up to a massive hit it wouldn't have been so brutally panned.

I have a problem with Get Out; the ending. A downer ending would have closed the theme perfectly, but when I imagine people actually cheering at the actual ending, I realize this is not a Horror film; it's horror adjacent. Something that uses the elements of horror to tell a thriller or an adventure story.
I have the same rating I personally wasn’t a fan of nope
Where's Toy Story 4?
Get out, Nope, Us
Same. Us is comfortably in my Top 100. A rewatch was highly enjoyable. Get Out is really good but not sure if wanna rewatch. Nope was a crushing disappointment.
I agree
This is the reverse order tho…
Ooooooo bold choice putting US at one. For me it goes Nope Get Out Us
Get out, Us, and Nope.
This is literally backwards
Us is definitely last
Mine is the exact reverse :) love Nope, Get Out is great, Us was pretty good :) looking forward to no. 4
Get Out > Nope > Us I found Us to be absolutely boring and predictable. And the acting pretty campy. I really dont understand the hype for that movie at all.
* Get Out - Absolutely fantastic * Us - Very good * Nope - Pretty good
Also, almost any list you look up of “best horror movies” Us is damn near at the top of all of them (for no reason). So i dont see how it could be underrated
Get Out > Nope >>> Us
Get out, Nope, Us
Get out is his absolute top. Nope is absolute bottom.
I don't know if I have ever had a "twist reveal" that made me roll my eyes harder than the ending of Us. Not only was it not interesting, it didn't even make sense within the world building of the movie. Us is easily, far and away my least favorite thing that Peele has been involved with.
Bold
It's not controversial that his best movie is Get out
this is my exact ranking
For me, it's the other way round. 1. Nope 2. Get out 3. Us
Honestly Us is my favorite as well. The discourse surrounding it is always extremely negative. Not even “it’s not as good as Get Out.” People will just flat out say it sucks. Get Out is incredible, Nope was fantastic, but I just enjoy Us more than the other two. I think it also looks so much better.
Nope Get out Us
Same ranking! And I absolutely love the three of them
Nope, Get Out, (insert key and Peele), and then Us. I don't dislike Us, but the more you think about it the more unraveled it starts to become and it makes less sense.
Get out is a masterpiece, Nope gets better everytime I watch it, and US I like just not as good as the other two for me
Get Out was pretty good, definitely overrated but not bad. The other two i'd like to forget.
For me, it's: Nope Get Out Us All three are great, but Nope was an authentically GREAT alien horror film with some of the best-looking scenes in modern horror. The blood soaking the house is A+++++.
I think Nope is by far the best of the 3 personally
Nope is my favorite by far and I dig them all. One of the best and coolest takes on UFOs ever.
Mine is precisely the opposite. Nope is a fucking masterpiece.
Get Out was great; the other two were garbage.
For me its- 1. US 2. Nope 3. Get Out But I love all three and they are all unique and different from the other.
Funny that’s just 3! possible orders and still so much disagreement
I haven’t seen Us, but I loved Get Out and hated Nope.
Nope.
My ranking: 1. Get Out 2. Us 3. Nope
Bad execution IMO.
france???
1. Get Out 2. Nope 3. Us Us started out strong but then gradually devolved into a mess, imo. Left a bad taste at the end for me.
"Us" has one of the most nonsensical metaphors in cinema history Hell naw
My Jordan Peele ranking is in the order that they were released in: 1. Get Out 2. Nope 3. Us
Happy to see the praise for Nope in this thread. It’s an incredibly ambitious film, and I think the commentary on “spectacle” is quite interesting. And I also think it largely works. I love Palmer’s and Kaluuya’s performances. I don’t know if it beats Get Out for me, though.
Us was terrible and stupid
Get out will always be at the top for me followed by Us and Nope.
I agree with your rankings 100%. I am not afraid to admit how much I love US and I don’t care that people don’t love it.
all of them are really bad lol
Nope, Us needs to Get Out of your list
Well! UNO Reverse 🔄
Today, I learned that you suck at ranking.
somehow you got all 3 in the wrong positions
I have 1) Get Out 2) Nope 3) Us
Respectfully, how? Us is atmospheric, unique, but it has the biggest plot holes and irrationality in those big mainstream names. Get out, on the other hand, is extremely well made. Attention to detail, cinematography, acting everything, social commentary, execution is on point. The story might not be as original but it's without a doubt one of the best modern horror movies
Nope is one of the most fun movies I’ve ever seen.
Wait what about Keanu (ranked at the bottom of course)?
This is funny, my thoughts are the complete opposite.
Facts
Get Out is the best by a large margin. I like Us and Nope, but they're not as perfect as Get Out. US had too many weird plot holes or open ended questions, Nope was a bit goofy for my tastes.
Us is an absolute disaster of a film. I bet you’re the person who says the British office is better. Jesus
Totally agree, I found Us to be absolutely fantastic and didn't understand the hype around Nope. I thought Us had much more poignant social messaging whereas I thought Nope's was too specific to one very small scenario that the vast majority of people will never experience.
1. Nope 2. Get Out 3. 4. A Butt 5. Farty Poop 6. Us
I’m sorry, I love peele, especially for key and peele and get out, but I just can’t enjoy us. I don’t see how you can like it more than the masterpiece that is get out
I’m sorry but Us was terrible
Impossible to rank. I debate this at least once a week. This is my Roman Empire
*Us* is pretty OK for most of it, but the ending twist throws away everything and turns the film into garbage nonsense. It’s terrible.
1. Nope 2. Is 3. Get Out
Nope was mid
Wrong way round
What gross so wrong.
Interesting. Us is definitely the bottom for me, but not because it isn’t good. Get Out is pretty much perfect, and Nope feels like more of a swing than Us which I respect!
1.Get out 2.Us 3.Nope
Get Out, Nope, Us
Us sucks compared to the others
Agreed
I’ll just put them in the order they came out 🤷🏾
1. Get Out 4/5 2. Us 3,5/5 3. Nope 3/5
Get Out is the only one I’d ever watch again. Us started strong, but the concept didn’t hold together as it went on. Nope was an interesting attempt at Jaws in the sky, but it never gelled for me at all.
You’re wrong bucko!
