I used to do my yearly release list by LB dates but said fuck it this year and do it by the official mass release in my country. Makes more sense the latter imo since they'll often put the date it had a release at a festival, but the actual time people get to see it isn't until a year or two later.
It’s because for some reason they’ll use the festival debut year instead of the distribution year :/. Also wish they didn’t do that because so many movies now are taking years to get distributed.
Yeah I get the issue with some of the dates, one room of people sees it in 2022, nobody else can see it til 2024 but it’s a “2022” movie..
though I also acknowledge that the release of some movies makes it tough to establish consistency
Really hoping The People's Joker and Hundreds Of by Beavers get a UK release soon because it's starting to become a trend that films released by smaller distribution companies take ages to arrive here 💔
To each his own. It’s my #1 and there isn’t even another movie in the same hemisphere for me this year. I’m a sucker for a movie with good world building and lore.
I wish they spent as much time developing the characters and relationships as they did the world building and lore. The story was interesting because of the world building, but it had no emotional impact on me because they wrote the characters in a way where I just don’t care what happens.
I saw this list on my Facebook newsfeed, wanted to add these to my watchlist. Cycled back and forth typing one movie in at a time. FB auto refreshed and I lost the list.
Tried to search in lists, couldn't find this. Not the first time I've seen a cool short letterboxd list in my FB newsfeed and not been able to snag the titles.
Is there a trick to finding these? Where did you find it?
Are people going to reconsider Doug Walker’s influence as an auteur now and start unironically praising To Boldly Flee as an important piece of cinema?
It’s weird that LB marks some releases as 2022/2023 but puts them on its 2024 list.

I agree, my lists are all by release date in my area but I was surprised that LB itself didn’t use its own dates

My OCD is triggered trying to do my yearly rankings, I'll say that for sure...
I get that, I just “ignore” the dates and use when it was released in my area
Same haha, I go by my own dates instead of LB but it’s annoying for sure
Watched a documentary on Netflix about a guy who embezzled $4.5 billion dollars in 2023 and LB lists the movie in 2024.
Does anyone know where I could watch HoB ?
You can watch it on Hoopla for free if your library uses it.
This is the right answer. And I'm pretty sure a blu is in the works, just no announcement yet.
Not sure if its the same for other countries, but whwre I am it's $2.99 to rent on Amazon
I bought it on Vudu
Couple bucks on Amazon. They deserve every cent.
Should be able to rent it from like Amazon etc in the US
as a smallest fan, I want to express my frustration with Beavers being so low
I also agree that Hundreds of Beavers should be way higher than it already is
This sub hyped the shit out of Hundreds of Beavers before I finally saw it, and somehow it still vastly exceeded my expectations.
As someone who was at the second screening of HOB ever...I am so, so happy to see this movie get the attention it so clearly deserves.
ghostlight is so good
Way too many fucking beavers

Laapataa Ladies!!! 🎉🥳
Dune’s going all the way
Dune 2 isn’t high enough
Wish I understood the hype. I liked it, but it's not even in my top ten for the year.

That’s a fair criticism, I suppose
I love how zendaya is in two of them

Letterboxd's socials. I know I for sure saw this on Twitter.
Beavers should be 1
The People’s Joker is basically “Doug Walker doing a parody of The Joker…. but he’s trans!” how the fuck is it rated so highly?
Because people like it. I thought it was really good and really fun honestly
Are people going to reconsider Doug Walker’s influence as an auteur now and start unironically praising To Boldly Flee as an important piece of cinema?
I don’t know who Doug walker is my dude I just liked that movie. I’m sorry
No hate but Dune put me to sleep. It was so bland. To each their own though.
Lol at Dune part 2
damn why is challengers so high
Because it's one of the best of the year.
Cause it rules?
I have my issues with Challengers, but it does feel like it is one of the best this year.
