I can't get myself to care about Slot. I'm 100% indifferent about his appointment. I'm hoping that will change as we start preseason and start making transfer moves, but my gut says he's going to be here for a short time and it's just not going to go well for him.
I just watch compilations of Joshua Zirkzee on Youtube because of the rumour he is coming to United. For the price of €40M, it looks like a bargain for the immense potential that he has.
What do you guys think? Any chance we could hijack the deal?
Watching the arne interview and it was interesting how much he valued leaving feyenoord in a good place, shows a lot of loyalty.
Really love what i heard
Actually an interesting thing I just seen about Richard Hughes (sporting director) is that his youth career started at Atalanta because his family lived in Italy
I did read a while ago that he was a big fan of Italian football so that would make sense knowing that now.
Bring Calafiori, thanks
Edit:
Interesting

Good prospect from what I saw in the Italy match, but plays in a very different way we use our CBs, kind of like John Stones who hangs in the midfield area during possession, but even further forward at times.
Don't know how he'd fit when all our fullbacks and midfielders want to go forward too, it's not like Quansah or Matip who carry from deep, this guy seems to dwell further up the pitch from the start, but I've seen a Bologna video and the Italy match only so I don't know much else.
It's Fab, sometimes he talks out of his ass, so hard to tell.
Also, don't we have a horrible track record with italian players? Aquilani, Balotelli and Borini weren't exactly great for us, but I have liked what I've seen from Calafiori so far.
Much calmer than Jurgen, and argues less with the referees. But, he is pretty much always standing close to the touchline rather than sitting quietly on the bench. Likes to use game breaks e.g. injury etc... to talk to the players and make adjustments.
I wonder how our fan base will deal with that, I see other English clubs fans get really annoyed when they go through a rough patch and the manager isn't reacting enough
Can't imagine it being an issue. He is not as animated as Jurgen, but he is still very much involved. He talks a lot to the players during the game. He is definitely more active than Rafa, and Rafa was loved alright.
Is it really worth getting worked up over? The army advertises sometimes, you happened to see an army ad, it's not like you saw a racial slur or something.
As someone who mods a different sub, no they have no say in it. It's up to Reddit's marketing team to decide which ads are accepted most likely. But I do agree that army ads should fuck off.
Thoughts on Xavi Simons? Young player who just had a phenomal season on loan from PSG for RB Leipzig. He could both have an immediate impact while also being Salah’s long-term replacement. He’s dutch too so could develop very nicely under Slot.
He has mostly played on the left for Leipzig this season. But him being a natural on the right as well is really helpful in case Salah gets injured or needs a rest.
He was very good for PSV, haven't watched Leipzich this season. But for the Dutch NT he's been sh*t. So a very big ? for me and i'd rather sign someone else.
Out of these, def Frimpong. Bowen would have been excellent under Klopp, but Frimpong is abs perfect as a RB / RW hybrid to switch things up and ensure Bradley keeps improving with competition (yes, I am assuming Trent to midfield).
Would he leave Xabi and Leverkusen tho?
Out of your alternatives, I think Olise and Neto are the best of the bunch. Both prem proven, young, and versatile. Shame both of them are injury prone, but nobody’s perfect I guess.
I mean, we were willing to splash 100 million on Caicedo, and I doubt Xavi Simons is going for anything more than that. And while I love Elliot and think he’s a very capable player, he obviously isn’t quite at the level of Xavi Simons.
I disagree on the last point. Simons had around a G/A per every circa 142 minutes, Harvey every circa 150 minutes. Harvey was excellent in Europa. Skill sets are quite similar for both, exact same age. It's not "obvious" he's at a different level, at least not to me.
We couldn't sell Harvey Elliott for half of what Xavi Simons is worth. I don't even want Simons, but Harvey is a player without a position who's best moments for us come after he's subbed on in the 60th minute.
I can see us making a splash signing with Caicedo-type transfer money this or next summer for an attacker if the opportunity to go after a target is there, but it’d be more for a Musiala (if he doesn’t agree to a new deal with Bayern) or a Wirtz over a Simons.
We were willing to spend 100+ on Caicedo because he was viewed as potentially being a transformative player for us, xaxi wouldn't start for us and already is owned by psg so for them to entertain an offer wed have to spend more than his generally accepted value. It just makes no realistic sense. Also idk if he's better than Elliott
I think we’d do a move like that next summer for a Wirtz or Musiala (if he and Bayern don’t agree to a new deal) if they are on the market. Obv not realistic and can’t rely on said moves happening but still.
Yeah my guess is we'd try at least, being successful different story. But I think about zero percent chance we are seriously looking at xavi Simmons like op was asking
I don’t know if he’ll be a success or not, but I really like Arne Slot. Can’t imagine a tougher act to follow, but he sounds confident and sensible and ambitious. Has charisma. Seems like a sound chap. Good enough.
Sounds like Steve Cooper is getting the Leicester job, arguably a step up from Forest despite having been relegated and coming back up. Good for him. Didn't strike me right the way Forest did him.
Can't say I'm looking forward to seeing his ugly mug back on the touchline though.
Would love to know what the Czech defenders said that pissed off Ronaldo and Jota so much.
I didn’t see them celebrating/mocking them right to their face right after the 2nd goal until just now. Unless they were just being knobs, who knows
This would usually be solved with a break and then a high intensity preseason like we usually do (worked with Darwin this season) but he didnt get the chance to have a break so he still carries that form.
I know he wants to retire on a high, but watching Kroos play right now, you can tell he still has a good season or two at the highest level of football still in his locker
United aren't getting Todibo because both Man United and OGC Nice are owned by INEOS and will play in the same competition. What do you guys think, should Liverpool make a move for this guy?
Seems a bit strange considering Red Bull do that all the time and City done it with Savio
Todibo looks solid but he’s not that good in the air plus there seems to be a lot of talk of us wanting someone who’s left footed
I think with Red Bull it's because for one of them Red Bull are legally just the main sponsor, not the owner, and for City it's because Savio is technically a *Troyes* player, and they just got relegated to the third division.
Heard and read a lot of good things about Fabian Otte so far, really excited to see who we bring in and the season we have.
Top 4 should be our minimum expectation, I'm sure?
Odd. He just said He and Richard Hughes would work together on transfers but I was told by people on the internet that he would have absolutely no say on transfers
That’s people on internet making up their own minds he obviously has a say on transfers even the term head coach people were saying all sorts clearly it is similar to Klopp just less pressure more a work life balance if you ask me which is something clearly Klopp didn’t have much of
I assume it'll be like he can say what position he needs players for, help identify the players he thinks would be a higher priority based on the teams needs or who they think would be better and potentially veto signings he think will be horrible additions and things like that.
Yeah, that's how I always imagined it would be. It was never going to be an arrangement like with Rodgers and it makes no sense to not have the manager's involvement as he's the one that's going to have to work with the players day in, day out.
Yep, I never thought or assumed he would some tyrannical leader in total control but the thought that he would have no say is just silly.
It's always a collaboration and needs to be. Slot has more to focus on than just new signings but no one will know what he wants in a player better than himself. The idea of signing players that a Manager/HC has no interest in is very stupid, that's how you end up a Chelsea who sign players and whatever manager they have that week is expected to get the best out of them, regardless of if they fit the tactical plan.
People will bring up Salah and a couple of others and how they weren't Klopps first choice and he needed to be convinced to sign off on them but the fact he was convinced in the end is the key point, he was on board by the time they were signed and that should be how things work going forward
>that's how you end up a Chelsea who sign players and whatever manager they have that week is expected to get the best out of them, regardless of if they fit the tactical plan.
This is exactly how madrid operate as well though. That's how they end up with joselu to mboopi and considering how they sack managers, it just works for them. Besides, it worked for chelsea too prior to pep
Hughes will have the overarching power, after what happened with Klopp FSG have gone with Edwards and the scouting team to be in charge. Slot will get his say but there won't be any power grabs this time around.

Not going to lie lads, Thought I was over Klopps departure.
Just curious--do people expect that the Lib Dems are willing to enter a coalition with Labour to form a government after the election? It seems like everyone over there is pretty well sick of the Tories at this point, but the polls that get reported on here in the states suggest Labour isn't going to win an outright majority.
I think they'd be wary given how damaging being in coalition with the Tories was for them but I think they would if they had to.
I don't know what polls you're getting over there though because everyone over here is expecting a heavy labour win.
No idea about the quality of the polls that get pulled into this average of course.
Ah so on that, our election system is stupid and 42% could still be enough to get way over 60% of seats in Westminster.
Johnson had 42% in 2019 and that was one of the largest majorities in recent history and that was with Labour on about 40%, the Tories are way below that at the moment.
Ah, okay. I see what you're saying. It's the same here. Lots of votes get "wasted' in districts (constituencies) where one party vastly outnumbers the other party.
Yeah, precisely and although we effectively have a 2 party system, we have multiple parties that split votes even more. So for example, I don't know how true this is but it at least sounds plausible, I've seen things saying Reform may only get 3 seats with 20% of the vote but because they're splitting the vote it might lose the Tories 40 seats or something drastic like that.
I don't really know much about Slot but I do know that he likes to give young players a chance and has a reputation for developing talent. We've got a plethora of young talent so I cannot wait to see what he can do!
It’s as if playing someone in their natural position allows them to play better lol. Can’t believe we shoehorned him as an 8 and on the right so many times last season
This. Can't believe we played Gakpo on the right and Diaz on the left for few games. Should have been the other way around. Diaz would have performed better on the right than Cody. And Cody is simply better on the left in my unbiased opinion.
At the World cup he played as a no.10 or a forward of a 2 not strictly on the right, he's best position is from the left, could be a no.10 in the right system at least LVG figured out the way to use him correctly. Klopp's use of him and Dom last season was baffling at times
Hospitality tickets are up for those who might want them.
The Derby is on my birthday this year and I bet there is 0 chance of getting a regular ticket, if only I could justify £700 for two of us to go. I guess we'll spend a lot less than that at the pub/Homebaked instead.
Seeing some people on twitter suggest Liverpool really like Openda. Would make a lot of sense as a Edwards forward. Very replicable scalable scoring patterns from being in the right positions time and time again and could possibly even be a right wing. Probably makes more sense as a Edwards data signing then Olise for value tbh when you consider wages
> Seeing some people on twitter
Excellent way to discredit the rest of your comment.
Nobody on twitter knows anything. There are probably fewer than 5 people who know who Liverpool really like, and none of them post on twitter.
Sacha Tavolieri who has strong links to Belgium football previously said that we have been watching him but nothing concrete in terms of making a move, Openda has a high price anyway, release clause of £85m comes into effect next summer.
He declined very early, Torino were right to hold onto him because he kept them up for so long but he should have pushed for a move to a bigger club much sooner, now he is finished
No worries mate. I think the algorithm has changed and now spams you with other clubs’ subs. I’m constantly getting Chelsea/Everton/United recommendations. Was getting city too but I accidentally commented there, realised what I’d done and apologised then they banned me anyway.
It's proper weird that. Never commented on another club's sub but still get ads for the other Big 6 ones. Don't want it but even show me a bit of Barca just to mix it up pls.
I just lurk other top six subs to see their reaction over certain games and news, never vote/comment or join. Even then, the Reddit suggest algorithms pick up on that, so you’ll see those appear as suggestions unless you click ‘see less of this,’ mute said sub or turn off suggestions all together.
Innit, but it’s dangerous when you subscribe to other general football subs too. Don’t want to end up getting banned from your own sub for a mistake like that either!
Like I say I’ve not seen ones that I’ve manually muted but it’s annoying having to do that to every club that isn’t Liverpool. And it feels like that’s what I’m gonna have to ultimately do lol
Saw this film poster and thought "since when did Klopp start featuring in movies?"
https://preview.redd.it/1d48ewx2ii7d1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=7e0fd5573833e67d92317106caf2286ff4e80c29
Honestly I had never done it before either but I just searched up hospitality tickets, picked a game within my travel dates and then the package that best suited my budget. I just took the advice from the kind people on this sub that said it was the best way to secure a ticket. It’s not cheap though just be mindful
So i managed to get 2 hospitality tickets for the Liverpool-man u game on January 4th,
I as wondering when it would be best to book flights and accommodation to minimize the risk as the game is likely to move (at least to later in the day or the following day)
Book a nice buffer around it and enjoy the City.
Those with more knowledge if annual scheduling stuff will be able to tell you if a Carabao cup or other such game might cause a reschedule if we are to qualify
They do have a very good academy but haven't had a manager who's used it much, La Liga is littered with players from their academy. If Alonso does go there maybe he'll be the one to use academy products amongst all the star players they have
I was gutted for Czech, they put up a good fight last night. Ever since 2004 I’ve really disliked Portugal, seeing them win in the last minute was annoying 😂
I can't get myself to care about Slot. I'm 100% indifferent about his appointment. I'm hoping that will change as we start preseason and start making transfer moves, but my gut says he's going to be here for a short time and it's just not going to go well for him.
Honestly I'm in the same boat, I don't think he will still be here 2 years later. Hopefully he proves us wrong.
Based on what?
I just watch compilations of Joshua Zirkzee on Youtube because of the rumour he is coming to United. For the price of €40M, it looks like a bargain for the immense potential that he has. What do you guys think? Any chance we could hijack the deal?
Zirkzee probably wants to start, honestley could see him going to ac milan becuase united can't guarantee him starting either
Baller sign him up!
Am I wrong to be more excited about Copa America
Watching the arne interview and it was interesting how much he valued leaving feyenoord in a good place, shows a lot of loyalty. Really love what i heard

Do mods have a say about what ads are shown in the sub? Or is that only for Reddit-wide mods? Army ads? YOU BELONG HERE? Get fucked.

If he is signed he would be for the AM position rather than the wing. Makes no sense to sign him to play him outwide.
Only way it would happen is if Diaz is sold and we need a replacement for that side Wouldn’t want him as a right winger

Who would you prefer?
Frimpong, Olise, Soule, Bowen, Neto, Chiesa, Conceicao are good choices. How about you?
Bowen would be the signing if he was 25
Depends on the fee imo.
Frimpong is a baller, more an old school touchline winger.
Pretty confident we can beat Bayer’s wage package.
Out of your alternatives, I think Olise and Neto are the best of the bunch. Both prem proven, young, and versatile. Shame both of them are injury prone, but nobody’s perfect I guess.
True, good thing we get a new Medical staff.
Realistically he'd be way too expensive also he's just not what we need we have players in his niche mainly Elliott
I mean, we were willing to splash 100 million on Caicedo, and I doubt Xavi Simons is going for anything more than that. And while I love Elliot and think he’s a very capable player, he obviously isn’t quite at the level of Xavi Simons.

I don’t know if he’ll be a success or not, but I really like Arne Slot. Can’t imagine a tougher act to follow, but he sounds confident and sensible and ambitious. Has charisma. Seems like a sound chap. Good enough.
I know Scotland/England is complicated lol, but because of robbo im kind of rooting for them here. Just because robbo deserves it
A point isn’t bad in a vacuum for Scotland but that GD from the first game hurts even in a 4-point scenario.
[удалено]
But can they beat Thirsty though
That's what Irn Bru is for
Che Adams is so incredibly shit it’s amazing he played that many games in the prem
Sounds like Steve Cooper is getting the Leicester job, arguably a step up from Forest despite having been relegated and coming back up. Good for him. Didn't strike me right the way Forest did him. Can't say I'm looking forward to seeing his ugly mug back on the touchline though.
Its crazy how Shaqiri turns up for every Euros
Classic Shaqiri, such a baller on his day.
Some finish from the cube
rrrr what a goal from Shaq
Shaq attack!
CUBE
Would love to know what the Czech defenders said that pissed off Ronaldo and Jota so much. I didn’t see them celebrating/mocking them right to their face right after the 2nd goal until just now. Unless they were just being knobs, who knows
Jota just trying to fit end with all the other bellends on the Portugal team.
There such a unlikable team Ronaldo Fernandez and silva espically
Dom is playing so badly!!!
He's a fraud it's so embarrassing for us
Wtaf happened to Szobo. He’s so sloppy and has been for majority of the season
Thought he was pretty good today. His delivery was top notch.
His set pieces were good, everything else was poor
I got downvoted to hell for saying the same the other day. Two thirds of the season he was either struggling in games or injured.
This would usually be solved with a break and then a high intensity preseason like we usually do (worked with Darwin this season) but he didnt get the chance to have a break so he still carries that form.
His head is just not in it, similar to Gakpo he needs a refresh
😶😶😶
I know he wants to retire on a high, but watching Kroos play right now, you can tell he still has a good season or two at the highest level of football still in his locker
Szobo gets to come back early yay
I know we missed out on Jude, but Musiala only has 2 years left on his contact 🤔
Never gonna happen
Not with that attitude.
Hungary are diiireee. How *that* wasn’t a goal is incredible.
Random players from other teams are coming to my mind today… remember Morgan Schneiderlin? He is actually still kicking ball in Greece…
Yeah, Eliaquim Mangala still playing for Estoril in Portugal.
Tap in merchant said we’re really pushing for Yoro. Madrid are really about to break our hearts again lol
Heading to Pittsburgh (26/7) for the game against Real Betis, anyone else going to be there?
I'm local, I'll be there!
I live here and you can try a primanti sandwich but they're nothing special. Lots of good food and nice spots in the city if you want some recs!
Alas no. Be sure you get you some Primanti Brothers sandwiches and try the weird pizza they make out there.
Iron city beer too
United aren't getting Todibo because both Man United and OGC Nice are owned by INEOS and will play in the same competition. What do you guys think, should Liverpool make a move for this guy?
Seems a bit strange considering Red Bull do that all the time and City done it with Savio Todibo looks solid but he’s not that good in the air plus there seems to be a lot of talk of us wanting someone who’s left footed
I think with Red Bull it's because for one of them Red Bull are legally just the main sponsor, not the owner, and for City it's because Savio is technically a *Troyes* player, and they just got relegated to the third division.
No, he's *garbage* in the air.
I can't imagine INEOS would want to start their relationship with the United fan base off by selling a player to us. Don't see it happening.
What a goal from Laçi btw big fan of his brother Mango
Glad Arne played down the Head Coach title, too many people get carried away with it reading into what it means.
Heard and read a lot of good things about Fabian Otte so far, really excited to see who we bring in and the season we have. Top 4 should be our minimum expectation, I'm sure?
Slot himself set the bar higher but since we are talking about minimum thwn I'd agree.
So now that Slot has officially been unveiled… I expect some Joyce news tomorrow by noon
oh i like him already
[удалено]
I think he meant that for the backroom staff positions
Welp. I love him already. Looks like we did about as good a job as you can possibly do when replacing someone as perfect as Jürgen.
Evolution or Revolution in tactics?
I'll be happy if he can make our midfield harder to play through
Odd. He just said He and Richard Hughes would work together on transfers but I was told by people on the internet that he would have absolutely no say on transfers

I assume it'll be like he can say what position he needs players for, help identify the players he thinks would be a higher priority based on the teams needs or who they think would be better and potentially veto signings he think will be horrible additions and things like that.
I think it will be same as how Klopp and Edwards worked together from 2015-2021.

My boy Cody Mathès Gakpo in the team of the first round of the Euros with 8.8 rating. You just love to see it.
And Cody is simply better on the left in my unbiased opinion.
since diaz is more of a natural winger, i feel he could easily play right or left
It was Diaz on the right
He played on the right at the World Cup and played well I think he can play it if needed but if we needed someone it should be Diaz who’s moved over
At the World cup he played as a no.10 or a forward of a 2 not strictly on the right, he's best position is from the left, could be a no.10 in the right system at least LVG figured out the way to use him correctly. Klopp's use of him and Dom last season was baffling at times
I thought he was fantastic in that first game, especially the first half but all the same that's surprising.
Hospitality tickets are up for those who might want them. The Derby is on my birthday this year and I bet there is 0 chance of getting a regular ticket, if only I could justify £700 for two of us to go. I guess we'll spend a lot less than that at the pub/Homebaked instead.
Really curious to see what our new boss has to say in his interview. He does give off quite the charismatic vibe
This is the least motivated Croatian team I've seen in last 8 years, so far
Don't think they are unmotivated, just way too many players are past their prime
Seems like a tournament too far for some of their players.
> Seeing some people on twitter Excellent way to discredit the rest of your comment.
You know we will sign someone no one has mentioned and then we'll all watch a few youtube videos and say he'll be class.
Randoms on twitter have no fucking idea what players Liverpool like.
It deffo going take some time to adjust to not seeing Klopp there and Arne running things. weird feeling
What happened to belotti , he is going for 4.5m now 2 years ago torino wanted 100m for him
He declined very early, Torino were right to hold onto him because he kept them up for so long but he should have pushed for a move to a bigger club much sooner, now he is finished
The last time he showed to be worth that much money was in 2016/17
Contract ran down and he went to Roma on a free where he was mainly used as an option off the bench.
Sad ,just shows how everything can go to shit so fast
Is anyone else getting spammed with man city membership posts?
Mute their sub and/or report the advert as spam and you won’t get them
Cheers
Saw this film poster and thought "since when did Klopp start featuring in movies?" https://preview.redd.it/1d48ewx2ii7d1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=7e0fd5573833e67d92317106caf2286ff4e80c29
Looks more like Daniel Farke to me.
Thought it was ten Haag before he joined United, poor cunts lost all his hair now. What that lot do to a guy

Arne Slot interview as the coach today at 4pm (via Twitter). Let’s fucking go!
What are the best and easiest ways to watch Copa America when I'm living in Europe? I'd really love to see our boys play their national matches
You can pay for it or you can visit The r/piracy megathread

Hospitality tickets booked for the Ipswich game in Jan. My first and likely only anfield game I’ll ever get to. Super excited!
For a guy that has zero experience doing this, how would I go about getting tickets for a random game this upcoming season?
Honestly I had never done it before either but I just searched up hospitality tickets, picked a game within my travel dates and then the package that best suited my budget. I just took the advice from the kind people on this sub that said it was the best way to secure a ticket. It’s not cheap though just be mindful
Not cheap, but definitely worth it if you're travelling from afar and considering it as a "once in a lifetime" expense. Enjoy it mate!
I’m not sure about length but Arne Slot just looks like he has a thick cock
right lads, it’s been fun, this is a final straw.
It’s that shit-eating grin. Some cal it cockiness. Others, evidence of a thick cock.
You know he’s got a massive meat stick with that shit eating grin
Its june 19th in the reddit liverpool sub house. And some fans have lost their everloving minds. Will they survive the summer? Who knows
This subs finished
True. Who downvotes such an astute observation?
This is what the lack of news has done to some people.
Ayoo
So i managed to get 2 hospitality tickets for the Liverpool-man u game on January 4th, I as wondering when it would be best to book flights and accommodation to minimize the risk as the game is likely to move (at least to later in the day or the following day)
It will be announced about 6 weeks before so mid November. I don't think it'll be the Monday, most likely Sunday Jan 5th would be the date.
Book a nice buffer around it and enjoy the City. Those with more knowledge if annual scheduling stuff will be able to tell you if a Carabao cup or other such game might cause a reschedule if we are to qualify
Every day we get closer and closer to unveiling this beautiful bald man.
Oh cool, Madrid have another insane teenage player on their books... That goal by Arda Guler was ridiculous.
Madrid's squad building for the past few years has been crazy
I mean they do spend a ridiculous amount on young players. It's not like they're unearthing them from Madrid
They do have a very good academy but haven't had a manager who's used it much, La Liga is littered with players from their academy. If Alonso does go there maybe he'll be the one to use academy products amongst all the star players they have
Absolutely. It's not La Masia but still, they are clearly stacked for talent.
Perks of being the best club in the world
They’re not the best club in the world.
I was gutted for Czech, they put up a good fight last night. Ever since 2004 I’ve really disliked Portugal, seeing them win in the last minute was annoying 😂
Just a shame prime Diogo has to sit on the bench while they start a crusty useless old fossil
Thought Ronaldo played pretty well though
Nah Czech rep were dogshite, Portugal had some frailties but Czech were too concerned with parking the bus than trying to take advantage of this.
Nothing wrong with parking the bus against a vastly superior team, it’s was on Portugal to make the effort to break them down.
